Someone got back to me right away, and scheduling was a fast. I originally called them out to service my water heater and potentially upgrade the heating elements. They were incredibly quick with the service, but what really blew me away was their honesty. Instead of just replacing the elements and charging me for it, they let me know they were completely fine and just needed a quick temperature adjustment. I was able to return the parts I had already purchased for a refund. They also noted that while my unit is in great shape right now, it is getting a bit older. They took the time to educate me on what to keep an eye on and walked me through my best options for a future replacement when the time comes. The quote also happened to be the cheapest of the 3 companies I got bids from. - The installation went very smoothly. I understand that direct vent water heaters are a little tricky to install, but Brandon installed perfectly. He arrived on time, got rid of our old water heater, and added a new water heater with several fixes: the overflow pipe now runs to the sink, he used a "flex vent" kit so the water heater can sit on the ground, and he put the water heater in a tray to reduce issues from slow leaks since I don't have a basement drain. - After the install, Brandon taught me how to change the temp / turn the water heater off / how to flush it / how to change the anode rod. Very pleased with the work and my new water heater is working flawlessly. The only downside was that there was no permit. I'm no expert on permits. Portland's website says that water heater changes require a permit. Brandon said it's a "gray area" for residential.
