I had been putting off dealing with the scratch because the last time i had a fender bender issue and had to go through insurance with an auto body shop, I'd had a bad experience with the rental car company they used trying to pin me with a ticket that wasn't mine, and long crazy story unrelated here. I had gone back to the same auto body shop (because it appeared they did a good job and they were very nice people, rental car not really their fault). But even though, to me it looked like a smaller job, they told to me it would be another biggish job, reaching into near $5000 to repair with panels, bumper, and paint repair, where I'd need a rental car co again so i had put it off, for fear of using rental car co, plus i have a $1000 deductible (ouch). To make a long story shorter i came into Downtown auto, upon referral, and met with a very nice guy, Martin. He took a look at my scratches and actually buffed them all out on the spot! (wow!) and gave me a bid to fix my front bumper for less than my deductible so i wouldn't even need to go through the insurance and rent a car! Plus, he said it'd be done in like 2 hours. I made the appointment and can't wait to update this review further. Btw, it's a comfortable waiting area, with nice glass viewing windows to see what's going on with your ride. And if you need to make a Costco run that day? It's conveniently located right across the street!

Their estimate came in about $400 less than a local competitor. I didn't want to put this repair on my insurance due to prior claims, so I was paying out of pocket. Not only did Downtown Autobody save me some cash, their estimator Martin was a pleasure to work with. Very honest and straightforward service. No BS or empty promises like some places. They finished the work on time with no unnecessary delays. The final results were like new. I could not ask for better service. Highly recommend.

Communication for pick up is poor which makes for a terrible experience. I received text messages…read moreof my car's progress, but someone misinformed me of the pick up date and time which cut into my work and family time. I received a couple of texts stating my car was on track to be completed on Friday 6/26. On Wednesday 6/24 I called the office because I needed to make arrangements to be able to pick it up in a timely matter. A woman told me my car would be available for pick up Friday, 6/26 at 4:30. She even said they would call Enterprise to pick up my rental. I arrived Friday at 4:30 only to be told it was not ready and that someone would call me that same evening to arrange a pick up Saturday or Monday. I stated I could not pick it up Saturday as I already made plans not anticipating they would make an error. No one called me that evening. On Saturday at 9 am as I am with my family and out of town Crash Champions says I can pick up my car by 12. It was such a disrespect of my time. The final nail in the coffin was that there was a part in my car that was loose, but the person said they needed a tool not at hand to tighten it and to bring it back another day! I will not be returning.

I really don't know how to rate this. Ultimately I settled on two stars because while the initial…read moreresult was not even worth one star, once they resolved the problems with their work it's an easy five star result. Short version: Initially the quality and workmanship of Crash Champion Rohnert Park's repair of my Tesla was absolutely awful. But after rejecting it once and some additional communication they did fix the car correctly and now that it's done it looks exceptional and looks like nothing ever happened to it. Long version: My Tesla ended up here after someone crashed into it. I had taken it to their Napa location, which was local to me, but they aren't Tesla certified, so they brought it to Rohnert Park for me. Since they are affiliated with AAA (the insurance company of the person that crashed into me that was handling the claim) it was totally hassle-free to have the quote approved and get the work started. They were very prompt to do the initial estimate and get the parts ordered. When they called me to tell me my car was done I paid for an Uber all the way from Napa to Rohnert Park to go get it. When I picked it up I did notice the front license plate bracket wasn't stuck on properly (on the Tesla the front plate mount just uses double-sided tape) but I was in a hurry and figured I could deal with it later. Unfortunately, later when I took more time to inspect my car I saw multiple issues, most of them very obvious. 1, the A pillar was still bent, 2, the license plate wasn't just taped incorrectly, it was completely off center. 3. The front bumper was not aligned correctly 4. There were multiple specks of debris of some sort in the surface of the paint. 5. There was a service error/notification on the vehicle display that the camera software version was not correct. This one doesn't really matter because I let the car update itself and it fixed itself but regardless it wasn't like that when I dropped it off and who wants to pick up their car with errors on the screen? So the next day I returned the car to the Napa location and showed them the problems. They were very understanding and agreed with me that these were real issues that I was not just being picky about. Well, after speaking to the management at both the Napa and Rohnert Park locations and them personally ensuring the work was done correctly the second time around, I have my car back, and they did an awesome job. If it had been this way the first time this review would have been five stars all the way around. But the fact that they even let me know the car was ready when it was in such poor condition astounds me. I know mistakes happen, and in this day and age everyone is busy, pressure is coming from above to get things done fast and cheap while the actual technicians doing the work are probably juggling a hundred cars for not enough pay for the hard work that they undoubtedly do... but regardless if it's a $5 job or the $11,500+ job that this one was, it is likely a culture issue or process issue if a car can leave the shop in this condition. Because you know there are multiple people involved in fixing a car and anywhere along the way any of them could have spoke up and said "this doesn't look quite right, should we alert a manager to get a second opinion if we need to adjust this or if it's OK?" Anyway, all that said, I'm happy now that I have my car back. But, sometime in between the time when I had to reject my car and when it was finally done the rental car got dented in a parking lot. So now Crash Champion's mess-up is going to cost me money out of pocket to either fix the rental car or having to make an insurance claim with my insurance for that issue. Sure, it's not their fault that something happened to my rental car, but if they had fixed the car right the first time I would have not had my rental car. So it's just an unfortunate situation all around. I will say, everyone I spoke with here throughout this process was very friendly and professional and did really seem to care. Joanna and Jose were my main points of contact. BUT given that the car should have been fixed right the first time, and apparently the caring doesn't extend to the consistency of the results, friendly doesn't solve frustrating.
