I felt so bad I was super late but she still took her time and did a phenomenal job...and trust me when I say my hair was a project!! For Christmas I wanted to pay for my moms hair and color. So the day before she was scheduled I went to the salon and asked how much my moms would cost. I was told $200. So I paid the $200 plus a 20% tip, equaling $240. Then next day I went to pick my mom up from the salon and as she got into the car she asked me how much I paid for the color and cut. I told her $200 and she stopped me and told me she asked on the way out and her cut and color was $155! Grant it the slyest knew how much I paid and never told my mom. If my mother and me didn't have that conversation we would have never had known they were trying to pocket the $45! I walked back in the and everyone acted shocked! This is an embarrassing way to do business. I would never return after such bad experience. It's embarrassing that the salon would let people work for them who do this! read more

**Edit for Katie T.'s accusatory reply!! First, I absolutely NEVER asked for bangs...EVER. Now that I know your stylists are dishonest, the one star should be removed! Second, I asked how to reach you and was told the salon you are at (not the one I visited) did NOT have phones. I was not given any further contact info outside of the apps used to make an appointment. I guess it's my fault I didn't try hard enough to reach you about a terrible hair experience. Third, this was absolutely NOT a hair correction!!! I had a haircut a week prior that wasn't cut short enough (quite the opposite of your stylist's recollection)...I went in to get the cut I wanted (pictured below). I'm more than happy to share a pic I took the morning of....BEFORE going to your stylist! There was more than enough hair to get the cut I asked for. The fact she said she tied to talk me out of bangs leaves completely flabbergasted when I sat in her chair FREAKED out that she cut my bangs!!! Her response "I had to cut them to get them where you wanted"...BS Finally, I tried to be polite and only share the facts of my experience and to read your accusatory message rather than you just providing me the way to contact you to discuss just blows my mind. Hopefully nobody else has to endure this type of experience and then be told it was their fault!! Worst cut I've EVER recieved! I went in with a picture of my hair from a year ago. I asked for the same exact style and yes, I had the hair to do the style. $47 dollars later I walked out feeling like I had no hair and a new set of bangs.....which was not the style I asked for. Apparently the owner doesn't have a phone at her location, only an online appt setter and therefore no way to get the feedback directly to her therefore, here I am. For 3 weeks I debated sharing because the stylist was really nice and I have been to the old salon which I liked but had a different issue there with hair extensions gone wrong and therefore I started going to another salon. With that said, every day I wake up and style my hair, I'm angry! Thus another reason I've decided to share. The pic on the right is what I asked for & the pic on the left is when I got home from the salon. As you can see, not even close. Itguy was also thinned out so much I had no volume in the back to create the angle cut. Furthermore, the assistant that came over to flat iron my hair took FOREVER to the point that I told her to just leave it. It was torcher sitting there after realizing I had bangs & didn't ask for them! Having to sit there and stare at them for what felt like forever....I became more annoyed. The atmosphere was just blah for the pricing and I won't be back. After expressing my shock and concern about my cut/bangs...I think it was a mistake my bangs were cut too short but rather than own up to it, not charge me and apologize...I was told they needed to be cut that short to get to what I was looking for.....SMH! My original hair stylist canceled so I had to find another stylist before I left town. I found this place on Instagram and decided to book with Katie cause her Instagram pictures looked like she had a lot of experience with blonde and did a good job. I had a balayage but it grew out and I was wanting to bring it up more. She bleached and foiled my hair. Everything went smooth until the rinsing. It was the worst experience I've ever had. I felt like the person who rinsed my hair didn't care whether or not I was in pain or not. When she separated my hair to apply toner, she didn't gently separate it, she just pulled it and tugged it so hard. I just sat there and endured it wondering when the torture would be over. It made me wonder if she did that to all of her customers. My hair is very thin and if not put enough conditioner while washing, it will tangle and be hard to brush. So it took forever for them to brush my hair, but I probably could've done it faster. After she blow dried my hair, she didn't bother to style it even though it says style included when I made my appointment. But it didn't turn out how I wanted it. I wanted a balayage. Just to bring up the blonde and keep my roots dark, but it looked like she just gave me brown / orange highlights. To make it worse, she didn't even touch the hair that grew out on the bottom layer, she only did the hair on the top that shows. I was very disappointed with my results and will not be back. I went to Erica a few years ago when trying to find a new hair stylist. I haven't used anyone since because of how great my hair turned out. I can't recommend Erica Johnston enough.. I've never really received compliments on my hair, but ever since I started using Erica, people continuously ask where I get my hair done. She can look at a picture and match the color almost exactly and it turns out even better than what I hope for. I had my first cut at Abstrakt with Katie, the salon owner. She did a great job, but my and her schedules did not match up well. I was overdue for a cut, so I asked the receptionist to recommend someone based on what my hair needs and this was when I met Emily. Today is my 4th appointment with Emily. She has done a great job with both cut and color for my fine wavy hair. She's really excellent at what she does. After years of trying different places, I feel like I'm in good hands. Just wanted mid length hair with lots of layers. Based on the reviews I booked an apt, a gift for my 40th birthday and I was sooo disappointed with my hair. Having thick hair and finding a stylist to work with that has been very hard and was assured they are specialized. The stylist was super sweet but my color and cut was not what I requested. The owner did reach out to me and did offer to rectify by coming back in with another stylist but I have not heard back from her. If your trying this place for the 1st time and you have a special event, I would not recommend it. read more

After my normal salon didn't have any slots, I started calling around hoping for a suitable replacement, and lucked into a same day appointment at Abstrakt! I basically just neglected to cut my hair throughout the school year and was only in town for a couple days before I had to leave, so I'm super grateful they could fit me in last minute--and boy, did they wow me! I asked Jennifer for a simple lob, and while my hair is straight and fairly low maintenance, I was still really impressed with the end result pictured. She told me how to recreate the look and was pretty thorough in explaining the choices she made regarding the small details in my haircut. I noticed the response to my review/experience from the owner and it appears she didn't read what I wrote very closely. First off, the owner uses her response to my review to market her business basically using the opportunity to deflect from the real issue relating to my experience. If a stylist wants to use an assistant and the client is good with that, then great. The fact remains, Shae didn't use an assistant the appointments prior to my third appointment and those appointments went well (pic attached showing my hair a few weeks after the second appointment and no broken bangs or over processed hair - and at my request, no heat was used to achieve the results). The third appointment, to my surprise, she used an assistant - didn't even introduce her. If I had known she switched to using an assistant I wouldn't have scheduled. My appointment was her first of the day and it was pretty quiet around there. So, at least during my appointment, Shae being too busy to monitor processing, do a shampoo and blowdry my hair after highlights is a farce. She kept complaining about being cold and stayed in the break room. And contrary to what was mentioned about my time under the heat, SHAE was the one who said I was under the heat for 7 minutes, not the 5 minutes the mentioned. The owner wasn't at the salon during my appointment so where she came up with 5 minutes is a mystery. And notice her response is dated 6 months after my review. I didn't just pull 7 minutes out of a hat nor would I gain anything by lying about it. And that 7 minutes under heat was after the bleach had already been on my hair for quite a while. Remember, I was there 3.5 hours for highlights. Second, I DID mention my money was refunded in my review. Third, I have never flat ironed my hair. I don't even own a flat iron because I like a bit of curl, and everyone knows bleached hair and flat irons don't mix. A salon GHD blow dryer and Velcro rollers is what I've used for years with no problems. The flat iron comment is a lie or the owner has me confused with a different client. Fourth, after my hair was way over processed (pics attached taken right after my appointment), I called the salon asking for help getting my hair healthy again. I said the last time someone over processed my hair it took 18 months to get it looking healthy because my hair is long. I didn't ask for 18 months of free hair treatments from Abstrakt. I just wanted their help in working through the damage. Abstrakt told me to come in for a Stand Alone Olaplex treatment and come in every two to three weeks to repeat the treatment at no charge and then we would go from there. When I tried to book the third treatment they refused to schedule me stating it costs them money and they were releasing me as a client. That's when I asked to talk with the owner. To sum it up, my hair was way over processed at Abstrakt due to carelessness, which should not happen at a higher end salon. Neither Abstrakt nor the stylist, Shae, really cared in the end and any client going there for highlights needs to know how they will be treated if their hair gets over processed. This experience was so bad I have not gone to a salon since and am still dealing the aftermath, unfortunately. I trim my hair myself every month to slowly get rid of the damage and do my own Stand Alone Olaplex treatments. The experience at Abstrakt was so bad I don't plan to highlight my hair again. read more

On Saturday, December 18, 2022 I was scheduled for a haircut and color. I have been getting my hair professionally done for over 40 years and have had good experiences and a few bad experiences. I have learned what works for my hair. What was the stylist. To note, my daughters had purchased a gift card for $240 which I did not know and had called the day before to make sure of prices. I have not had my hair colored or cut in 1 year and 4 months. I have dark brown hair, I wanted to get a touch up Of my brown with a plum color as an accent. Shay had difficulty understanding this, I explained further just enough plum that it could be seen in the sunlight, not for my color to be plum. I explained to her that my hair comes up red easily(most knowledgeable stylist know that you have to use a blue base dye). Shat began say should would need to basically bleach my color out and then color up. I stated absolutely not, I know enough that a good color stylist can work with the color to get the effect. I opted for her to just color the roots, cover the grays and match my ends. As for my haircut, she kept saying that the top Was shorter then the bottom and it was not a good haircut. I explained again that I had not had a haircut in over a year and therefore there it needed to be shaped. She wanted to cut my hair and the length I grew. I stated I did not want to lose a lot of my length. She gave me a basic beginners cut for a Stylist out of cosmetology school. As she eas blow drying it, she realized she there eas grey still not covers, she applied more dye and as I sat waiting a young lady comes over and said I'm going to wash you and dry you for Shay. Ok, it's not unusual. The unusual part is that Shay never came back over to check on my satisfaction of the haircut and I was told, Shay said your daughters have already paid for everything. I said great, can you please let me know the final coat. $155-I was shocked but knew I was never going back. I let my daughter know, she says wait, we paid $240. We walked back in, I find out Shay received a $40 tip and they needed proof of the total. They reimbursed my daughter $45. So in the end, Shay received a $40 tip. In no way was the service I received worth &155 and Shay's service was not worth 30%. If I would not of question the price, the salon would of received the entire $240. Bad business and bad knowledge of services. I will not be back. I called and requested to speak with a manager and to date have NOT received a call. read more

First time at Abstrakt and I was not disappointed! Super welcoming and friendly front desk woman (I forgot her name ) and I was offered something to drink as soon as I got in. The entire salon is clean and spacious and just has a really great vibe to it! Jennifer cut my hair and did an incredible job! She cut off about 6 inches and gave me some face-framing layers. She asked for my opinion throughout the appointment, like whether we should keep the bangs long or cut them shorter, where to part it, etc. I was in desperate need of something new and fresh, and Jennifer pulled it off perfectly. I just recently got out of Active Duty service and moved back to TX after 10 years being gone, and was searching for a stylist to continue getting my hair cut, after reviewing dozens of salons to see who has the best cuts for men I was recommended Victor by the owner for my style of hair. I have had a slick back style with a hard part for years and wanted to find someone that's good enough that wouldn't butcher my hair and make it look clean. The Legacy location was very clean, and stylish. It wasn't over ran, or jam packed. I didnt have to call to make a reservation or an appointment that was far out, lucky for me Victor books his own appointments and was able to get me in the next day and work with my work schedule, which by the time I get off work on the weekdays the place would be closed and only would be available on weekends. Victor was very professional and looked like he knew what he was doing. I didnt have any pictures to reference, and all he had to go off of was what I told him. He asked the perfect questions to tailor to what I specifically wanted. Very friendly and easy to talk to. Very quick, which normally before to do my hair would take almost an hour. He did the job within 30 minutes- which is a huge plus for me. His work was the BEST I've had. His fade was perfect, kept the top at a perfect length for me to slick it back, and the hard part was amazing with ZERO flaws or discrepancies. I would reccomend Victor for any Male to get a cut and will definitely be going back without question. The color correction gone RIGHT. Miriam transformed my brassy balayage that was done by a different stylist to a color that was more fitting to me and my skin tone. I was unhappy with the placement of my previous balayage because the color looked like it was a all over, one color and only on the top half of my head. The color was too coppery for my skin tone. I'm Asian with a mocha-ish skin tone and the red copper, all over look just wasn't me and there was nothing natural about my look. Miriam did a 360 and used my black hair to complement warmer tones of a dark caramel and auburn-ish colors.....that add a warm glow off my summer tanned, mocha skintone. My hair looked naturally sunkissed, as if I spent a week on a beach and the sun highlighted my dark brunette hair. I love it! The best thing is as the weeks have gone on & the toner washed away, the color underneath looked even better.....more of a lighter sunkissed look. Absolutely love it!
