This salon exceeded my expectations with my first visit to their website. I was able to review a bio for each stylist, confirm pricing, and book online. After finding a match in Angie and quickly booking an appointment I was shocked that she reached out to me to confirm my appointment and request was accurate. I sent her a picture of my hair and she was able to take the reigns from there. The salon is cute, clean, and busy...no kids allowed (yes!!!!) Angie was adorable. She is kind and professional. Where do I start on the salon. Well not so much the salon because I only see one stylist though the staff and actual salon are amazing and I enjoy being there I started going to the actual salon to see Shae Cates. I moved from Vegas the summer of 2018 and had started trying to find a stylist. My hair is my thing & once you hurt it no amount of lying to yourself/to a stylist/expensive treatments will return it to its original condition (I now know). When I say tried to find I mean stalked stylists via IG and reviews like a mad person. I really didn't want to trust anyone new but given the move I didn't have a choice. When I say I am incredibly grateful I do mean INCREDIBLY bc finding Shae was the best thing that happened to my hair EVER! I interviewed multiple stylist but found that she was the only one who was honest when it came to the health of my hair which was really not in good shape. Mostly bc of my healthy but also bc of bad choices (more later) When I say I like to change my hair like I change my moods it's an understatement. Not being able to (more on why later) was horrible. Its incredibly rare to find a stylist who is more worried about your hair than the money they make. In my case I had always had amazing hair until a few months before my move, when due to a major surgery, my hair started falling out in clumps totaling 2/3 of my hair by the time it was over. It was now weak & brittle & I was freaking out bc I had left the person who had always done my hair. Again I repeat I'm so glad I did bc the great thing about Shae was she kept it real & bc I HONESTLY kept it real about what I had done to my hair on my own between the move & coming to see her (bc damage & breakage doesn't come from a single incident but mismanaging hair & not giving it a rest bc I wanted what I wanted when I wanted it which I learned the hard way was not a smart choice) & being completely honest about what had changed before & after surgery. So I spent the last year & a half listening to her instructions & not trying things on my own or jumping stylist & being really mindful of her instructions. Yes I had to buy products to help (she doesn't have a magic wand) but she was never wasteful with my money & also told me when things weren't needed when I used my google MD to magically regrow my hair. It's easy these days to forget everything is filtered, a highlight reel and taking care of your hair can be expensive once you have damaged it making bad choices or especially if you are me it's hard not to ignore what's being said & just finding someone who will tell me what I want to hear so I can do what I want. The amazing news is my hair is almost back to where it was (again no wand here just good old fashion knowledgeable stylist) I know through talking to her it may never be exactly where it was but holy crap what a difference a year made and her knowledge and patience's with my questions is why. Now after a few months of really being carful and doing as instructed I spent most of this past year going brunette then blond (and not in one sitting & anyone who tells you they can do so with anything other than existing good healthy blond hair is a liar or you didn't listen) then going short & then back to long (when she finally felt my hair was strong enough to have extension) & back through all of it again bc of that whole mood thing. Obviously I didn't stylist hop when she said no to something (I'll be honest which most people won't when doing a review that I wanted to find someone who would put extensions on bc I missed my pre-surgery long hair) but I'm am incredibly grateful that I didn't AND NOW I have my hair back so it was worth not just hearing what I wanted to hear. She is amazing and so far I have LOVED all of it. Now I'm am going back to to try something again in a few weeks. Not sure what it is but I use her bc I trust her (when I say hey I want something new but not sure what to do) i trust her to pick what and I know I'll feel amazing so I'll post again and I am super excited. My intention was to get a color correction for my hair to be color corrected back to my natural color. I had been darkening my roots professionally at a salon for several years and realized it would never be unbrassy when they lightened it up at the bottom. I had about three months of natural root showing. After a consultation, I spent 6 hours with a stylist who started the process. She bleached the top half of my hair level 1 hair to about a reddish orange leopard print and covered my hair with temporary color of a 5/6. Unfortunately, my most recent stylists had been using permanent color on my roots which was harder to breakup/remove than expected. I then waited a month to make another appointment to let my hair rest only to find out that the stylist who had started my hair was let go. I went through consultations with three people, one person blocked me from their books because they didn't want to do my hair but didn't have the guts to tell me in person. I met with the head stylist for a consultation before being booked with someone I hadn't met. I should have known better. The stylist was sweet. But what I asked for and what I received were vastly different. My hair was burnt off at the neck from the bleach and I was told if I don't use olaplex my hair will fall out. I watched clumps of hair get combed out. My hair wasn't toned or highlighted or colored the way I hoped. I felt like this was what I deserved. The salon didn't follow up with me after a month or so when it might be safe to do additional services. I left with a huge line of root growth that was obvious and an ugly warm blonde. Nothing like what I asked for or wanted. I feel the stylist got scared and checked me out. I was told I would get lowlights eventually. I got charged for a root tap but there is no way I received one. Nevertheless, I looked like the sour patch kids butchered my hair and didn't tell me. I saw it happen in the mirror. It only happened at the base of my neck because that is where the 20% vol was on the longest. I didn't mislead anyone. I am so careful with my hair. I only do salons. I pay high end prices for low end services. I was also threatened that if I go anywhere else it will cost me double if I need to be corrected again. As if. So, $1400+ later and I would definitely say the staff is nice but not anything near as amazing to me as ppl make them sound. I would have expected much more and follow up like toners and a finished service that aligned with what was requested. I have decided to tone my own hair at this point and it costs $15. I would rather go to great clips for a cut because I truly think that for being a high end salon they don't care enough. I have spoken to numerous stylists who have told me this is totally unacceptable and that I have been mistreated. Good luck. Please note that the salon reported my photos somehow so they were removed from google but has not attempted to address me or the situation. Very unimpressed. Please also note I never had wavy kinky hair before the salon visit but that is caused by damage. read more

Overpriced - I paid $72 for a very simple cut. Could not find any pricing info on their website ahead of time, but I moved here from Boston and figured it couldn't be more than the $50 I paid there. Wrong. The haircut was nice, but basic (trim and angled around face), nothing fancy. The salon stylist was nice and listened well to what I wanted. But... For $50 in Boston I got a hot cloth for my face, hand rub, drinks, coat check.... here you sit and stare at the stained drop-ceiling, and look at a bunch of obviously fake plants. Cerah is absolutely amazing. I took her a picture of the shade of blonde I wanted. We did the highlights and ordered my extensions. A week later I was about 20 inches longer and loving it. It's been almost 8 weeks now and almost time for a move up. I'm very hard on my hair, a lot of heat styling and brushing. The quality of hair is great. Hotheads/Hairtalk are wonderful. I found Abstrakt when my previous salon's prices went through the roof ($250 for a haircut only - no thanks), scheduled my first consultation with Betti, and the rest is history. Over the last year, I've had a balayage, a sombre, and chopped 12 inches off - and I've loved the end result each time. Betti is great at working with only a little bit of direction - sometimes I go in and don't quite know how to portray what exactly I want, but she exceeds expectations each time! After coloring my own hair during lock down, I was in desperate need for a professionals help. Erica took the time to help me correct my wrong doings and gave me a beautiful color and honestly the best cut I have EVER had. On my next appointment we decided to go lighter, Erica was fantastic lightening my very dark hair gradually. The look was beautiful and gentle on my hair to prevent damage.
