My coworker and I were from out of town, we were looking for a Filipino restaurant and saw this place with great reviews. The site says 7pm so we got back to our hotel and immediately drove to this place. It was around 6pm when we got there and the sign says food was sold out. We were heart broken and hungry. We sat in the car searching for another food spot when a man walked up to us (we thought it's the last customer coming out with to go food). We asked him if it's truly sold out, he said yes and handed us his food. We tried to turning him down, we didn't want to take his food. He was very insistent and then finally came out as the owner of the restaurant. He said, here have the food, we offered to pay but he couldn't take payments since his system has been closed. He even walked back inside the restaurant and gave us rice to go. We didn't get to see and taste all of their food, but the chicken adobo, humba, lumpia, pork sausage and monggo that he gave was delicious!! We went back to the hotel and gobbled the food. Now I know why the food was delicious, because the owner has a big heart. It reflects on the food that he serves. He definitely gained new loyal customer with his welcoming attitude. He didn't have to give us food, he could've just simply told us to come back the next day, but he didn't. Filipino hospitality was on full display through the owner. I will come back again to this restaurant whenever I visit St. Pete. Thank you so much for your kindness. Favorite Fla Cousin, and I finally got to Abuhan to try their food, as we were told they had the best Filipino food in the area and we certainly were not disappointed.. The gentleman behind the counter was very nice, and explained all the different sides to us. The Pancit Bihon, pork adobo, beef stew, bitter melon, and two other pork dishes were all delicious, but our favorite for both of us was the beef stew... We did not arrive till after 1:30 so the Lechong Kawali, was gone, it goes fast because it is so delicious I was told so you have to get there by around 12:30, or you can order some by phone and they will put a portion away for you to pick up... I love bitter melon, which is definitely an acquired taste, I was very happy to find it served here... If you know, you know... and Abuhan definitely hits when the craving kicks in. This is my go-to when I want Filipino food but don't feel like cooking it myself (because that's a whole process ). Most people wouldn't guess I'm half Filipino--my dad is white and clearly had a strong influence lol. I usually get mistaken for Hispanic, but nope... Mestiza The food is always solid. The lumpia is really good--crispy, flavorful, and that sweet and sour sauce takes it to the next level. They regularly have bangus and pompano, which I love. You can choose rice or pancit as your base, and the dishes rotate daily, which keeps things interesting. I've seen everything from sinigang, dinuguan, and menudo to afritada, tinola, mongo, and Bicol Express. They also have desserts like hopia, cassava cake, leche flan, and ube options. This family-run Filipino restaurant features an ever-changing variety of authentic choices. Tonight we had Dinuguan, Ginataang Langka, Beef Stew, mung beans, lumpia and ginger chicken soup. The family/owners are so friendly... happy to make suggestions and give details. They have plenty of tables, there are two nice areas to sit and enjoy your meal, or you can easily take your meal to go. The servings are ample and it's easy to order a bit too much with the incredible choices, so probably plan to have enough for another meal at home! I was excited to get Filipino food since I last had Inihaw Filipino Barbecue in Bethlehem, PA, a few years ago. We arrived at 4:58 p.m., and they closed at 7 p.m., and we were greeted with a sign that read, "Sorry but we re all SOLD OUT Sorry for the inconvenience." Okay, sold out of what? We went ahead and went inside. She told us, "I have some fish left. Come back tomorrow." The owners of Abuhan should call the owner of Inihaw for tips on running a restaurant. Better yet, for the hours, put 11 a.m. until we re all SOLD OUT. Besides, to run out of food with two hours remaining is a poor way to run a business. Unpleasant Food Abuhan is a Filipino restaurant located in a strip mall in Clearwater. It's a simple place with all the food sitting in warming trays like at a buffet, although a server dishes out the food. Prices are low and the server was pleasant. Food is served on Styrofoam plates and bowls and eaten with plasticware, which I don't care for. I found the two meat dishes I had to be floating in oil. The flavor of both dishes was similar. The pork needed to be rendered down more to get rid of more of the fat. Everything just tasted like the pool of oil it all swam in. I ate about half of my food. I love leftovers and would normally take the rest home, but I found it so unpleasant that I didn't bother. read more

Sometimes you just find a place. When we entered the amazing smells reminded me I was hungry. We were greeted warmly by one of the owners and he told us about the dishes. He also told us he changes the items throughout the week, so you know you can always find something new and delicious. He let me sample the pork belly and a flavorful stew . The meat was so tender and had a slightly sweet yet balanced carmelization on it. I ordered some of both to take home with me. If you are looking to send boxes in the Philippines, they do that here as well! The food is so good! I got pancit, rice, monggo beans, and dinuguan! I got so excited that I literally forgot to take a picture of my food until it was almost done. My fiancé loved it as well. Their pancit was not dry, perfect amount of black pepper, salt, veggies, and tiny pieces of pork. Their dinuguan was sooo good: it had good amount of meat, no fats, it had perfect amount of vinegar. Probably me and my fiancé's fave one from here so far. And the monggo beans is vegetarian, no meats or shrimp/seafood added. It was so good that even my Albanian mother in law loved it! We went during their soft opening hours. I was excited to try this place out at there isn't really any Filipino restaurants in this area of Pinellas county. This is a "Turo-Turo" style restaurant Turo means point since you point at what you want to order. We got 2 combo meals that comes with 2 ulam (main entree) and rice as well as lumpiang Shanghai. The Ilan we got was Bicol express, dinuguan and chicken halang-halang. The bicol express was probably the best tasting one. The dinuguan was a little watery and bland while the halang-halang was super salty! The lumpia (since it was sitting on the tray) was barely warm and very little filling. It wasn't bad but it wasn't that good either. I hope they get better as they get in the groove. Maybe we'll try them again eventually but for now, Mata's and Filipiniana Cafe is still a Tastier option. read more

Humba. Epp-pic! sweet yet a touch spicy, slooooow braised pork you can eat with a spoon. Tasted like it cooked for 4 glorious days and enjoyed every minute in that heat. Flat out. The food sucks. We ordered 5 combo plates or all the ulams and everything was bland. Bangus no flavor, adobo no flavor, lumpia no flavor, dinuguan no flavor, Kawali no flavor, everything NO FLAVOR. My niece asked for styrofoam cups thinking they had a water dispenser but they didn't. She asked the lady for 7 cups and the lady said if you want that many cups, it's going to be a dollar. My niece asked how much it would be not to be charged and she said "NONE!" She wouldn't take my $100 bill so I asked a family for a dollar. I brought it up and she disgustingly told me to just grab a water like I knew what she was talking about. I, too, was confused because I thought they had a water dispenser like all Filipino restaurants outside of Tampa. I didn't take it lightly and proceeded to express myself in a louder voice stating you can't disrespect my family like that. The lady didn't expect that reaction. Made our first visit this weekend, really impressed. The female owner served us, well. They were out of the dish that we drove 30 minutes for, so she put us on a list for a call when it was back on the menu. Three days later, she calls to tell us our chicken dish is available that day, they could set some aside for us. Drove up to get it, my wife loved it! Rather than make suggestions about what they can do differently, we'd rather appreciate what this smaller, newer restaurant does well. Great food, excellent service, outstanding customer extension beyond the norm or what's even just good. We're new to St. Pete, appreciative of all the cultural and culinary diversity. Serving staff were very, very friendly and helpful. We had lumpia, bangus, fried pork belly and pancit. The best thing about this little restaurant is also the worst thing . .. e.g. it is entirely authentic. Having lived on Mindanao for two years in the mid-1960's, I got used to everything being served at room temperature. Everything in this little gem of a restaurant was also served room temperature. How much better it would have been if the lumpia, pork belly and bangus would have been fried fresh and served hot! But we still loved the food and the "authentic" dining experience. read more

I ate for the first time last Friday and enjoyed it thoroughly. The place was very clean, the staff very friendly, and the food was excellent! I got the 2-dish combo and for the price, it was excellent because I was able to get two decent meals out of it. I had pork with the eggplant and bagoong and bicol express which were both excellent, reminded me of back home! Went and ate here last week. It was okay it could be better. Also ordered To go. The take out were: Tinola was too dry too much veggies not enough soup. You'd expect to slurp a hot tinola soup but that didn't happen here. Humba? Not sure about this one- it seems to me it's an adobo not humba (it was too salty) isn't humba supposed to be a pork hocks (feet). chicharon bulaklak? Tasted wierd must have been recycling oil or using a cheap cooking oil. Bilo-bilo ingredients were tough and too dry. Hope they improved - time will tell.
