I know a lot of people wrote reviews about the service not being that good but whenever we went, the lady that we had was amazing and super attentive and very fast. Open Table reservations were easy to make for this Clearwater Beach restaurant. We were seated ready gut away and our server took great care of our table. Sitting outside, we were entertained by the ruckus from Nanday Conure Parrots in a nearby tree and the delightful evening Florida air...! The Happy Hour Gyoza were offered cooked three ways: fried, steamed or (the correct way) pan-seared/steamed pot sticker style. We chose the latter and they were perfectly done! The Yakitori showed up next, and although all made with the same sauce, was still a nice appetizer. The rolls were delivered on the same plate with plenty of ginger and wasabi and were very enjoyable. After dinner we walked down the "main drag" of Clearwater Beach and did some fun window shopping and watched the sunset. Vile. The rice was dry and hard on all pieces. The tempura shrimp in my yakuza roll was dry and chewy. The eel on top had no flavor and a texture of raw bacon fat. Then they tried to cover it all in eel sauce to make it palatable. Pro tip: if a sushi place is covering rolls in sauce, it's because the food will taste awful without it. The sushi was also disgusting. The yellowtail and albacore were leathery and largely flavorless minus a metallic aftertaste. The smoked salmon was soggy and seemed to have been ripped apart by hand rather than cut with a knife. The smoke flavor was overwhelming and lingered well after the meal. Wish I would have asked for my money back. Be smart and save yours. read more

Stumbled upon this sushi spot and I honestly should have just waited for a table at the other spots. Walking in, asked for a table for 3 and it took a while to be seated when there's open tables available...but they all had dirty dishes on them. Nobody cleaned the tables until maybe 10-15 mins later. No idea why it took that long. We were about to just walk out. Ordered chicken teriyaki for dinner. Rice was really hard and the chicken was rubbery. It was awful. Service was terrible. We only ordered two dishes. Chicken terayaki came out pretty quick but the sushi took a while. Ambiance was nice. Just tables weren't getting cleaned when customers are done eating and had left. I wouldn't come back again. read more

I stand by what I said about the environment previously; It is definitely well decorated and the peeps working there are very nice. As for the food, I was wrong about my initial assessment of them. The only thing heavy in sodium and salt, is the ramen and udon. Everything else? Absolutely fantastic! Their tapas are actually really tasty and exotic, and their main entrees are very flavorful and well-rounded. Good presentation too! The place is nice and in a great spot, but thats about it. If you have ever watched kitchen nightmares, then you know the 3 tell tale signs of a restaurant in trouble are food taking way too long to come out,not bringing dishes out at the same time so people can eat together, and then having food sent back! well, I'm disappointed to report that we had the trifecta on that! It easily took 40 minutes to get two sushi rolls and one chicken teriyaki dish. Amazingly the chicken teriyaki dish came out before the sushi did , which is surprising to me because you actually have to cook that and not only did they cook it, but they burnt it into a crisp which must've taken at least an extra minute or two. When we finally did receive all of the dishes and started eating the food and I realized how subpar it was, I probably for the first time in my life took the opportunity to actually send food back and request something else. It was that bad! it tasted like a burnt piece of rubber dipped in teriyaki sauce. I will give credit where credits due they plated it nice except that they cut the pieces up a little bit small so with the teriyaki sauce, it kinda looked like gravy lovers brand cat food. sadly, that would probably taste better than this. I didn't eat the sushi, but I was told it was OK but nothing special. I was then substituted in with Ramen where again the pork belly was burnt on the outside which again contributed to a rubbery tire taste at which point I was barely interested in checking out the rest. I would also like to stress that I never once complained about the wait or anything, and obviously they were aware of it, and even though the restaurant was far from capacity, they would occasionally walk by and say I'm sure it'll be soon now, he's working very hard back there, etc. that's cool, but I don't exactly need to blow my blow nor was I asking for it. Bottom line is obviously I want to enjoy a meal but at the end of the day I've got other places to go and wasn't trying to invest my whole night, eating chicken teriyaki, and a couple pieces of sushi. Overall, it's a shame ,I live local and I always root for local businesses here. I would just have to chalk it up and say this place is not worth going to it all until they institute some serious quality control all the way around.. I absolutely do not recommend it. read more

Is this place Ippudo level ramen or Nakawaza sushi? No. But it is one of the only Asian restaurants in the area and should be judged accordingly. I walked up and down and up and down the entire beach front, and this was the only Asian restaurant in sight. The food was pretty good. The Ramen had depth, and a number of proteins that you could choose from including duck confit. Wonderful. The sushi was also fresh and well plated. To be honest, this restaurant could have gotten away with much less. Being on the beach and offering Asian food...people would still flock here if it was Panda Express. But it's not - it's authentic Japanese food with an authentic sushi chef and great service. And for that, the residents and tourists in Clearwater are super lucky! The sushi was fresh and the appetizers were extremely tasty. And with the cold beer and friendly service, this is my go-to Asian spot in Clearwater! Si I went here on a single date just me by myself ! And I had a good time sitting at the bar. I had peach sake that was yummy and sparkling. They were extremely busy and Shawna kept me company as much as she could while in between tables. The servers were very much a TEAM. They would walk by and make sure I was taken care of. And that I had enough ginger to clear my palate throughout my meal which is my favorite. I tried a small chicken ramen. Which the noodles were cooked perfectly and the chicken had good flavor (saltier side) but the broth didn't have that umami flavor. Very basic and simple broth. (Maybe because it was a kids chicken ramen) I also tried the wagyu beef app and it was OKAY. Little chewier and too drenched in the teriyaki sauce.
