Been taking my Yukon Denali to this shop for years. Dana, the original owner retired last June and the shop is now owned and run by his two, long term mechanics, Dan and Scott. The service, both automative and customer wise remains top notch. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a solid, trustworthy repair shop. One more than one occasion they have talked me out of spending money on minor issues that were not worth fixing. As an example the older Denali's love to flash the "service tire monitor" warning light. It is an idiot light that has nothing to do with the tires themselves. Very honest shop. My car would not start. I bought a new battery and that didn't fix it. The instrument panel was not functioning. I did some research online and found someone on Ebay who could fix it very cheap but I would have to send my panel to him. Who has time for that? Not me...I brought it to Dana and Lynn. They checked it out and told me the panel might be bad and may require replacement via refurb from the dealer. He warned me it may be expensive. But then he was honest enough to tell me about the guy on Ebay that I had already discovered. That impressed me. I asked them to take care of it for me. Dana called with great news. No need to replace the panel. There was something wrong with a ground wire behind the panel. It was much cheaper than anticipated. I believe many other shops would have replaced the panel and charged me more. You have earned my trust. In fact you have earned my referrals to. I am sending you a car to look at. I took my car here when I first heard a weird rattling coming from under the steering wheel. They were the only ones to find the loose bolt rattling around in there. They tightened it and sent me on my way. So when my head gasket blew I went straight to them. They weren't even really equipped to fix it but they decided to take on the challenge and fix it anyway. Dana Swan is my favorite mechanic. I have never met another mechanic that will take the time to explain your options to you, even if the options don't include him. Dana has fixed every problem I've ever brought him - except for one, where he'd taken my car for 48 hours, driven it and ran it through his computer, not finding anything. He didn't charge me for it - and it turned out that my gas gauge (or tank float) was stuck, so my car was running on fumes but reported a quarter of a tank. You won't find another mechanic that will test and drive your car for 48 hours and not charge for it. Many mechanics charge just to run the computer on your car - sometimes up to $100! Walking away from AC & E without a charge was a pleasant surprise. I will definitely continue to take my cars to Dana for his friendly and honest service, and recommend him to anyone looking for a local mechanic. This place is great! Scott, the owner, is friendly and most importantly honest. I had a problem with my A/C, Scott worked on it till he found the problem and fixed it. This isn't a place where you never talk to the guy fixing your car. You talk to Scott, he looks at your car, discusses what could be wrong and gives you a timeline for you to have your car back. I have taken my cars to Dana and have always been exceptionally pleased with the repairs. He has repaired my 2002 Lincoln Town Car and also my 1969 Ford F-250 Pickup Truck. The Towncar had misc. electrical issues and needed a tune-up. The truck had a power steering pump leak, a sputtering carb and a wire that was shorting out (and smoking). This is the best mechanic in the world, period! Dana and Lynn have helped me through so much with my older car and given me a great understanding of how basic things in my car work. I never let anyone else touch my car, but the things he doesn't handle he refers out to friends. He has even called out phony repair suggestions made to me by other mechanics! Dana and Lynn are incredibly patient, fair, and understanding and treat people like family. His estimates are always clear and fair and the bill is never above the quoted price. He keeps all the parts he removes if you need to inspect them later. There is a true transparency to his business and he treats all of his customers fairly and will never try to take advantage of you. Everything is explained clearly and he will even show/explain all the work he is doing so you fully understand why the repairs need to be done. If there is work he sees will need to be done soon he gives a time frame for when they should be done so you have some time to save up some cash. This is a true gem if you don't mind the drive, but TO is pleasant and there is food within walking distance and its in a very nice neighborhood if you're stuck out there for a few hours. The only other down side is that they are super busy, but they will always get back to you the same day and they keep their word when they say they will call you later. Bottom line, if you have been jerked around by mechanics in the past and need quality repairs, start with AC&E. Prior to visiting Automotive / Computer / Electrical I thought it would be wise to contact my vehicle's local dealership prior. The stated exacts including price, time, and cost. I was referred to AC&E. I have considered rewiring my old project car for a couple years and thought I would give it one more shot. I explained in clear English the car needed a wire harness installed. Dana, the lead mechanic/ electrician, explained I should call him back in a couple weeks. Thinking it was entitled AUTOMOTIVE COMPUTER & ELECTRICAL I thought this was a good bet. I talked to him for a couple minutes in regards to my situation and explained that it once was a show car and had been modified and returned to stock unsuccessfully. He explained prophetically that their shop didn't work on modified cars. In fact, he had a modified Orange Chevy truck with the hood up in his garage. That truck looked really nice but obviously "MODIFIED", Go figure. I was quoted upwards of $3000 at the stealership to install the wire harness, and get my car running. I will be taking my business there. Not because he seemed intimidated at working on the aforementioned "un-modified" car but because he didn't seem like he wanted to fix it. Very happy I took my car here. You get to talk to the guy who is actually doing the work on your car and can explain whatever needs fixing. Scott is honest, has fair very prices, and does great work. I've taken my car here a number of times now, but most recently I had a dead battery. Scott looked into it and found the old battery was still under warranty, so the cost of the new battery was covered. He sincerely looks to save his customers money. read more

This review is way overdue, A C & E Automotive is the ONLY place I trust with my car. I moved to the Hollywood area, and I still make the trip out to Dana's to get any work my car might need. After the first couple of times I came in, Lynn (Dana's wife, who works the front desk), not only remembered me by name and make/model of car, but also recalled the specific details of work my car had needed. Dana will NEVER upsell, he is sensitive to the fact that I had an older car that only needed to run safely, he would explain to me potential issues, and give me a timeframe of when I should check back in for repairs. Everytime my car needed any kind of work he would explain exactly what and why, very patiently. My final bill has always been exponentially lower than any other autoshop, but always less then their pre-estimates. Dana has gone above and beyond for me on several occasions. Recently my car would not turn on at a Hollywood gas station. I had it towed to an AAA certified mechanic, within my free tow radius. After several days of getting the run around - not returned phone calls, rude phone calls etc. the "mechanic" had literally no idea what was wrong with my car. I called up Dana for some advice, he spent all day on the phone with this Hollywood mechanic, out of the kindness of his heart. The AAA mechanic flat out refused to perform any of the repairs that Dana suggested, and basically told me I needed to have my car towed elsewhere because he didn't want to deal with the hassle. Dana helped me find a tow service that would give me a discount, and had my car fixed and perfect in ONE DAY. I wish I had just paid to have my car towed to AC & E in the first place, even with paying for a ~45 mile tow it was still cheaper to have Dana fix my car. They got the work done extremely fast, and went out of their way many times to ensure I save the most money. They did what it took to fit my budget and made it work. My AC stopped working during the worst summer heat wave and another shop I took it to first told me it was an electric problem they couldn't fix, so I found this place on Yelp and based on the positive reviews brought it in. And I am so glad that I did! Apparently the previous owners of this shop have retired and it's now under new ownership of their long-time employee Scott. Being a female who knows absolutely nothing about cars, I was nervous and didn't know what to expect. As soon as I arrived (without an appointment), Scott looked it over, ran a few tests and quickly figured out that the problem with my car was not electric - it was my head gasket and I was low on my coolant. The guy at the other shop spent an hour looking at my car and couldn't figure it out? Fixing/replacing a head gasket can be very pricey. Scott gave me a much cheaper option to try first and see if it works before spending all that money on replacing my head gasket, so that's what I did. I had to leave my car there for the day so he could test it a few times. He called when he said he would call and just made the whole experience so easy and reassuring. My AC works great now, I am so thankful! Scott is honest, friendly, efficient and unbelievably reasonable. From now on this is where I will be bringing my car in for all repairs and will recommend them to everyone I know. read more

I visited this shop a few months back to get my brakes serviced (new pads and rotors turned) and not only did they quote me a price that was half of what the dealer wanted, but they were cheaper than many other independent shops as well. Once I got my car there I found the mechanics to be very friendly and easy to talk to. They listened when I told them what the car needed, and I was shocked when they simply concurred with me and told me what I could expect to pay. Dana, the owner is honest, reasonable and knowledgable. Each time I have had my cars serviced at his shop the job was done properly, on time, and for much less money than I had expected.
