One unhappy customer here. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone because the new AC unit I got this time last year (that cost me over $18K) has broken down twice in the past month. We're talking Phoenix summer heat, house getting to nearly 100F with every fan running. The workers let us know that it was installed improperly but the company (Crissy) denied any wrongdoing and wouldn't offer a penny even though we paid top dollar. Expect them to over promise and under deliver. If this helps just one person then I've done my job here. Proceed with caution: as long as you know what you're getting into with these guys. We used to love this company. Used them for our home for years. They used to be communicative and reasonable. Both of those things have changed. I don't know if it has changed ownership or what but our experience on the last week has been that they sent a kid who has to ask what to do at every turn (let me ask my someone what to do now). They sent him 3 times. Also we have had no real communication. I asked for them to call or text me rather than email and they just refuse. Their bid is being now bid by other companies after a week of wasting our time. I expect a much better bid from the companies I've spoken to this morning. update: the company that ended up doing the work said that some of the suggestions made by AC doctors are illegal. They also did the work for about what one part of our two bids from aC doctors was. (About half). Use someone else. Wow! AC Doctors does fantastic work! Their field service technicians (Doctors) are a pleasure to work with. They have worked on two properties for me in the Phoenix area. The initial service visits were prompt and professional, COVID safe, and they provided detailed estimates for the work to be performed and explained the what and why of the proposals clearly. They were also the lowest price of the three estimates I received. Communication is fantastic, they use a combination of telephone, SMS and email. Being remote I was informed and up to date on all activities, as were my tenants that occupy the properties. At one property they replaced the entire HVAC system; furnace, heat exchanger, electrical connection, etc. They were in and out in one day, left the workplace clean, and explained to my 85 year old father who lives there all that they did and how to operate the system. Dad says, "A+ work! Super job." At a rental property they replaced a drain pan, added a water level cut off switch and contactor. Again, they did great work. The tenant was pleasantly surprised that the unit was also much quieter after their work. I've learned that if a service company has flashy vehicles and big online marketing presence the chances you are going to get ripped off increase 2x. We used AC Docs at our old residence for two fan replacements, and signed up for their membership to receive discounted parts, labor and tune-ups. Great service! We recently bought a different house which had two 2019 Trane units installed. One unit failed on heating and our inspection found numerous issues with the installation of air handlers, drip pans and terrible ducting work (guessing unlicensed contractor)... I was quoted over $5k from my realtor's contractor, so I called AC DOCTORS, who came 24hrs after my call. After an inspection and initial quote to get the heaters working properly, North Scottsdale had snow the very next day, and now both heaters weren't operating...we called back to check the status of our repairs and they sent a team that day! First they did an emergency repair on two units, found that drier filters weren't installed so these TxV valves failed and needed new ones. They ordered parts and had that repair done immediately! Then we received the quote for ducting, adjusting air handlers and drip pans (which actually needed pumps instead), they performed two more sets of work and everything is running great, and I paid just over 50% of a competitor's quote! I have had issues with my A/C since July 2nd. The technician Justin has been to my home 4 times and my issue has not been resolved. The first time he came he stated that my unit was working no proble, he left and later on that same day the unit was not cooling at all. The 2nd time he came he said everything was fried and that I needed a new compressor, motor and battery. He replaced the battery and it started running. he stated that he didnt have the part to fix my until completely but he would ask that it be ordered and that he would come back and replace it. The 3rd time he came out he stated that the manufacturer didn't have my part and that he could cut something and "rig" it so that my unit would work but By that point I was not amused he didn't end up doing that but instead went up to the attic to flush the system...it worked briefly and then started making a loud noise. I called invitation homes again because my unit isn't working. it's July 27th Justin came out again this time he states I need a whole new AC unit and completely shut off the unit. it isn't blowing any air at all it's currently 90 degrees inside my home. I have 3 children and I am also pregnant this is by far the worst experience I have ever had. 0/10 read more

We cannot say enough good things about Ulisses! His attention to detail and willingness to answer all our questions, to help us get set up for remote access to the system, and ensure everything worked, was exceptional. So, too, a big thanks to Edgar and Issac! They spent a good part of the 4 hours on the roof in relentless sun and wouldn't quit till the system was running to their liking. They were a great team! I rent from invitation homes. The AC unit at my house was getting really loud. I submitted a service request and they assigned it to AC Doctors. Invitation Homes didn't have the key to open the cage around the AC machine and said that AC Doctors could cut the bolt. On 7/13 AC Doctors ended up cutting the front of the cage off and leaving it like that. They told Invitations Homes that their repair was complete but the cage was cut open and hazardous and left in that state. I called invitation homes on 7/18 to find out why my house was left like this, they said it was AC Doctors fault, they were not given authorization to cut open the cage, just the lock. Invitation homes said the situation was not emergent, the call for AC Doctors was for maintenance, we had AC, the machine was just loud and we wanted to avoid it breaking down mid summer. So they were not authorized to cut into the cage. When we spoke with AC Doctors on 7/18, the earliest they could get anyone out to fix it was 7/21 between noon and 4p. 4p rolls around and AC Doctors hasn't called us, so we call them at 4:15p. They say they are running late and will be here in 30 mins. I ask to speak with a supervisor and was told no supervisors are available for the rest of the day since it was 4:30p on a Friday at this point. Later on 7/21 the technician calls and says it'll be an hour to get to our house. Then even later on 7/21 the call center manager calls us to let us know that they won't be able to make it out to our house till 7/26. He called after I was told there were no supervisors on staff for me to speak with. They created a hazardous situation in our backyard and are unable to fix their mistake for 13 days and counting. read more

Jack, Hala, and Gerrick are our heros this week. We previously had some new ductwork installed amidst our home renovation, only to realize it hadn't been properly connected/routed the first time. In the heat of summer when we were moving in, this became quickly apparent. This team was out to our home ready for the challenge. They found a creative solution to our duct issue and made some new connections/routes for the new supplies. I'm a Arizona resident for nearly 30 years and I've been using AC Doctor for 2 years on my new build home for yearly maintenance. They're responsive and had no issues until parts needed to be replaced on my new AC unit. They told me my capacitor was underperforming and should be replaced and quoted me $360. I've worked in HVAC previously and a capacitor takes 5 minutes to replace and is a $20-$30 part at most. I called to cancel my membership with them immediately and would stay far away from this company. Just glad I have HVAC knowledge and did not get roped into this like a lot of people do. read more

The tech was nice and thorough. However, when I called to schedule the appointment and told them what the issue was, they told me it would be a $75 fee to send someone out but if there were repairs that they could do same day on-site they would waive that $75 fee. The tech told me he couldn't waive the fee and when I called the office to clarify they basically said I was given the wrong information. When I mentioned that I relied on that representation when booking the service, they didn't offer to abide by what their employee told me. They just said they would retrain on the issue. I'm disappointed I was given incorrect information and they didn't offer to stand by what I was told. If you are going to use them, make sure you understand what they are charging you for or get it in writing ahead of time. read more

After having two other companies show up to 'diagnose' the issue, it became apparent they were only interested in helping themselves. AC Doctors finally came to the rescue. Brendan showed up first. Looked over the system and explained to us the issues. Explained a plan that was easy to understand and easy on our pocketbook. One week later, we had the same issue return and then comes in Eric. Same great service as Brendan and came with a plan since the issue was persisting. Then comes Ann from the office. She explained the quotes, services, warranties, and had it all planned out before I can even call to confirm with my credit card. She even had the installation time held for us just in case. I requested a quote for replacement of an aging (and failed) unit. I was quoted a price of $6800 by another company for a Trade. AC Doctors came out with a quote of $11,100 for the same size unit from a lesser brand, Night and Day. Two weeks later I got a call that their "distributor had reduced pricing" and got an updated quote of $6900. I do appreciate the updated quote, but no distributor ever cut pricing that much. It was an attempt to get sweaty me to pay a $4K premium. read more

We have used AC Doctors for 5 years now. Yes, they are quick and usually can fix the issue but their pricing is just outrageous and basically gouging. Read the reviews about being overcharged and take these reviews seriously. They charged us almost $400 to replace a capacitor which is a $20 part and 15 minutes of labor. (and unfortunately I had to pay it because it was at night in August) If I hadn't been a maintenance customer, they would have charged me close to $600. ($70 more plus a charge for coming at night) Their pricing has continued to go up over the years and they are unable to break out their pricing between parts and labor--probably because they have so much bloated overhead that they pass on to the consumer. There are other good companies that can do the work for less than half of what they charge. Can't recommend them any longer. read more

Pure Disaster! We've used AC Doctors for several years with no complaints. When they added the plumbing side to their business we were excited to use them. We needed two new toilets, and a new garbage disposal. They were clearly not staffed to handle the work. They sent a brand new guy all by himself (he told us it was his first day on the job). Super nice guy, but it literally took him the entire day - he didn't wrap up until after 8pm and he started mid morning! Aside from the long long day- he used no protective covering on his shoes, no protection on our brand new carpet, he rolled the toilets in on a cart that had apparently been sitting in oil - possibly from the street, which left our brand new carpet with oil spots. The carpet in the front room is ruined. We hired a professional carpet cleaner and he could not get the grease/oil out. Later, we realized that the toilet wobbled. We called them back and they sent someone else out. This guy told us they were installed incorrectly and he completely re-did them. Good grief! Never again. read more

Happy, screwed or happily screwed. In early December '19, it seemed that our 11 year old Goodman HVAC system was intermittently blowing cool air instead of hot air. We had a PM (Preventative Maintenance) schedule for late December with Emergency Air, with whom we had a PM contract. As a result of that PM session we were advised that the "Integrated Fan Controller" was intermittently failing causing the problem that we were encountering. The estimate for fixing was just over $1,000. Being a bit suspicious about the cost (I do have some HVAC background), we decided to get a second opinion. We chose A/C Doctors to give that opinion. We scheduled their visit, told them of our issue but they could not find a problem. We did not tell them of the other company nor their finding. We had a bit of traveling to do mid-January to early February so we turned the system off (as we approached our travel, the situation was getting worse), deciding to get it fixed when we returned. We contacted A/C Doctors again for a service call; this time they found that the problem was the "Integrated Fan Controller" and estimated the cost to replace to be around $600. We had them replace the controller and with the credit for the previous service call and a $25 online coupon credit, the final cost was around $563. I did have the foresight to request the defective board when the installation was done. This seemed to be a typical problem with older Goodman units so I decided to see what the real cost of the controller board was since they didn't break out the hardware vs. installation cost. I've included a pic of a quick internet search showing the board was easily available for around $50. So I just paid $500 for installation? Or the board was marked up maybe 5 or 6 times. Installation was about an hour - 2 techs (one shadowing the other) - maybe $200 for installation. That leaves over $300 for a $50 board. So, I'm quite happy that they duplicated the problem and fixed the problem - so I'm happy. I'm not happy that a $50 board was marked up outrageously - so I feel screwed. So should I be happy that I got screwed, just happy or just screwed. Note: I will be post a similar post on Emergency Air's Yelp site too! read more

They were actually a second opinion because the first AC company came out and told me I needed an $800 part to fix it. Something just didn't seem right so I called AC Doctors for a second opinion. They came out that same day and got my AC working while they were there. Apparently I didn't need an $800 part and the condenser had just froze up. How do ya like that. Thank goodness I called them.
