I have been going to AC auto for the better half of a decade. John is extremely kind, honest, and knowledgeable. They tell you what you need to stay on the road but offer up what they think would help extend the life of your vehicle but will never coerce you into anything you don't need. They are very responsive, and will often get you in for same day service, even when they are packed. They have let me sit in the shop, and give great advice on my Subaru Forester. I was lied to and scammed by John. He charged me over $1000 for a brand new radiator, in November, when the reality is all he did was patch the crack that he said was in it and still continued to charge me for a new one. He told me it was the starter so he replaced that. He was wrong!! So he said he would write off the starter instead of doing the labor to take it out and just replace the radiator with something "around the same price, maybe a little more." No less than 5 months later did my car start overheating. The kicker was when it started smoking to the point I called the fire department and they told me it looked like something melted and was burning (I presume the "patch" he thought would suffice) instead of, you know, just putting in the new radiator he charged me for like a MAYBE halfway decent mechanic. When my car started overheating again I locked my debit card because my car was never actually fixed the right way and who pays for something that isn't what they were told they were paying for?? I am a young mother and I am absolutely NEVER going to give money to a "mechanic" who has now made my vehicle and CHILD unsafe. Fast forward to today, my car is in a new TRUSTED mechanic shop and that is when I was told it was patched and nowhere near brand new (remember this was replaced in November) My boyfriend and I called him today two separate times and two separate times he couldn't even be bothered to listen. All he did was talk and yell over me like a child and then HUNG UP like an even bigger baby. Apparently because of my mother's "past due balance" which in reality, he stopped taking money out of her account. She reached out multiple times and he never once got back in touch. When he did get back in touch it was a survey about how well they are doing. Clearly he has a track record of some shady business. I am now being screwed over, punished, and not listened to because of something that has nothing to do with MY issue. Lying, scamming, and then speaking to CUSTOMERS the way you did today is absolutely no way to get any money owed. And I know for a FACT I am not the first person he has done this to and it will definitely not be the last. You should've never gotten the $1000+ I paid in the first place considering what you charged me for was not even done. If you're going to come back and say "well you got a free starter", don't forget your the professional who was WRONG. The fact that this person is running a business this way, in fact running a business at all, is an absolute joke. He is a scammer, he is a liar, and he is a pathetic excuse for a man. John should be absolutely ASHAMED of who he is as a "professional mechanic" Please I advise you, go ANYWHERE else. If you think you are in good hands.. YOU ARE NOT. IT WILL NOT LAST. read more

I had a swishing sound every so often in my 2017 Lexus ES 350. I cleared my drain holes front and back and still had the sound. So, I decided to call John at AC Auto in Wakefield, to see if he ever experienced it. He told me to bring it down and he would look at it. He discovered the problem was the switch on the cooling of the seats. When they are turned on it can release air that makes that sound. -- No charge. Where else can you go and be sure you are being treated fairly and have a mechanic who is looking out for you the consumer. Lexus would have charged me $320 just to look for the problem. You can really tell John and his team care about the work they do and they don't just view their customers as dollar signs, which in the auto repair world, (at least in my experience) is very rare and a brilliant quality to have. They've done an array of repairs on my car over the years but the most recent one was the back quarter panels started to fill up with water (an absolute nightmare) and they worked really hard to find the solution and prevent it from happening again. John also offers great advice on what to keep an eye on, so that my car continues to run smoothly. After going to a different shop and being strung along for weeks only to still not have the issue fixed properly, I did what I should've done in the first place and brought my Jeep here. Being new to the area, i found this place on google when i needed an oil change. After i picked up my car it started shaking like crazy every time it was in park so i brought it back not sure what was done but after the shaking was fixed, my power steering became really heavy. These really are the good guys. My exhaust fell down due to a rotted clamp while I was rushing along Rt. 128 at around 5:15 PM. Pulled off at the Salem St, exit to see what shops were around an open. They told me to bring it by and at least would wire it up to get me home. But they went above and beyond, discovering the clamp issue and putting a new one on, also pointing out a spring that needs to be replaced soon while the car was on the lift. When I pulled out my wallet, they declined payment due to it "only took a few minutes." They saved my ass. I was fearing the worst when I hear the rumble and scrape. Great guys. read more

After getting a very high quote from another garage to fix my side view mirror (where i had brought all of my business for the last two years), I brought my car into AC Auto. They were able to give me a quote within a few minutes for the part and the labor (I had to wait all day and leave my car at the other place) and the quote was significantly lower. This review is long overdue. I drive an older car and the guys at AC Auto have been working on her since early on in her prime. A few head-scratcher repairs have been required over the years and not once have they rushed to a conclusion resulting in an expensive repair that would definitely solve the problem, but that might have been able to be fixed at a lesser expense had they put more thought into it. They ask questions, they do their research and they are extremely thorough. They care about cars, they care about YOUR car, and they care about YOU. I've been a customer of AC Auto for many years. Over the past twenty or more years we've worked with Mark and his partners and find the interactions friendly, honest and cost effective. We've asked Mark to find us reliable and low cost, safe cars for our children and he has. Yes there were always repairs but they were older cars that required maintenance. Has there been a time or two over the past twenty years that we had a problem after a repair, yes. And each time, I can only think of two, Mark stood behind his work and made it right. Generally the problem was that the replacement part didn't stand up. I spend my friends to Mark and each and every one of them raves about the service and the cost effectiveness of the repairs. Just a week ago I dropped off my daughter's 16 year old Camry and asked them to check it out and said I suspected the brakes were needing replacement. When I returned they had fixed several items that were safety related and told me the brakes are fine and just needed an adjustment. The car, at its age has some chronic issues which could be repaired for a price. Mark advises us based on the age of the car and its use about what to repair and what to ignore. He always focuses on safety and I am confident when Mark tells me it's time to replace the car it will because it is unsafe or not worth fixing. You can trust AC Auto and its staff.
