This hotel deserves a write up. Centrally located with great restaurants and places to go. On point with its modern and sheik look. From when you first enter the hotel, you are greeted by front desk representatives with their colorful polo and their timeliness of expediting your check. The rooms were very modern and state of set deco including the bathroom with square toilet seats. What i dint like was having to use your key card to turn on majority of the lights and had to leave your key in the slot. The other downsize was no drawers. They had benches/table tops to put your luggage in. Definitely a place for weekend trips and not meant for long stays. The girls took advantage of the pool. It was chilly st might but the pool was somewhat heated. The great part was the view. Parents hung out and enjoyed the night light and view. This is a really nice location and property. During our stay, the room that we were originally put in, had a broken AC unit that only blew out hot air. The maintenance guy was nice enough to come up and check the problem but they had to move us to a new room. Which is frustrating because we just wanted to rest after our travels, instead of dealing with this. They should have checked the room fully. Another thing was their parking. They only had a handful of parking spaces in front of the hotel. If you didn't find one, you had to park at the garage across the street on the 2nd floor. Which makes no sense because it's a hotel and you have tons of guest staying. It was a hassle walking to and from the hotel to your car. They validate your parking but still you should be able to park closer. Daytime front desk staff were nice compared to night time staff who were rude. Also, the room walls are super thin. Marriott you failed me! If it was possible I would totally give this hotel a zero! The worst experience ever! Where do I begin: the bathroom glass door doesn't close, the toilet is square, the bed is very low and only has one mattress with no box spring so be ready to wake up pretty sore, the window doesn't open and the fan doesn't work correctly so be ready to have limited oxygen in the room. If you are claustrophobic stay away from this hotel, the lights won't stay on or turn on without the room key being inserted into the wall space. Do not order food from the bar it's frozen food and really bad. The parking in front of the hotel has very limited space so be ready to park in the parking structure next to the hotel. Any Marriott by name is a good hotel brand option, but I was pleasantly surprised to know that the AC Irvine hotel is managed by Marriott. Everything seemed legit. I found the AC Irvine hotel via hotels.com while planning my travels to Irvine, CA to visit family and to run the 2018 Surf City marathon / half marathon. What better way to spend a weekend by doing both at the same time. And so, I booked this property with points and I was on my way. Upon arrival, it was already past 8:30pm after day of spending time with family and eating. Just wanted to collect my thoughts and enjoy this hotel. And enjoy I did. The check in process was fast and expedient. Got everything sorted out within 3 minutes and I got up to the room within 5 minutes. I did like the decor of the lobby itself and the ambiance of everything seemed like it was the place to rest my head for the night. I stayed here for just one night, but wished I stayed here for the rest of my stay, but it wasn't the case. It was cool to stay here, even if it wasn't long term. I did enjoy my stay here. Especially with bed, which was very comfortable and definitely got my 8 1/2 hours worth of bliss. It's worth coming to stay here at the AC hotel here in Irvine, CA. I'd recommend it! The overall experience here at the AC Irvine hotel by Marriott was that of a sweet pleasure. It was basically like coming home to grandeur at an affordable price. While I did purchase this property on hotels.com points, the core experience at the AC hotel was quite nice and very much enjoyable at the same time. The television was mounted on the wall, but had limited channel selection. Also in the room was a mini fridge, which was fun and exciting, but didn't use that either. Just the basics but with some bells and whistles attached. The AC Hotel is located on Michaelson Drive in the heart of Irvine. They have parking options here, if you choose to have a car. If you are like me, I ended up taking Uber after my check out of the hotel the next morning. Not sure if there's viable public transportation options available here in Irvine, but Uber works well for me. They accept major credit cards, which usually all hotels do. They require a form of photo identification and a major credit card upon check in. Standard procedure. The hotel is very clean and very much spot on in the highest order. It is quite nice to be here and I've been everywhere it seems. The service was nice, friendly, and fast. I had a nice and quiet stay here at the AC hotel by Marriott here in Irvine, CA and how you will too. I'd recommend staying here. The hotel staff are nice and accommodating. Lots of perks with this hotel, it's convenient to the freeways, restaurants and shops. It's located in the Tech Center in Irvine. Which is pretty cool and convenient for any business trips in the area. The room itself has a very urban and modern feel to it, with its separate shower and toilet rooms. The King bed is comfy, considering that this hotel is only a year old. I can't complain. Small space, tight. But, it's perfect for couples or business trips. Honestly. it's a perfect size for myself. Really, a girl has to feel like a queen when traveling. Lol The pool is amazing, has a great ambiance and urban feel to it. The only downfall is the parking. Do not stay here unless you like being behind grey walls, sleeping on stained beds and being treated like a nuisance instead of a paying guest. The conditioner in our shower was empty which we conveniently discovered while taking a shower. After calling the front desk to notify them and waiting for ten minutes, we eventually had to hunt down a housekeeper to get a full conditioner ourselves. A well placed sign in the bathroom said to toss all used towels on the floor if you wanted new ones. We followed directions, left for the day, and came back to see all our wet, used towels on the floor. We contacted the front desk again to ask what happened. Instead of being apologetic or kind about the situation, the woman scowled at us and defensively argued that the welcome note on our desk states that rooms are only cleaned on the third day. We had to get our own towels from the pool area after that. The room only provides two coffees, two creamers, and two sugars the first day. If you want more, every morning you have to ask the scowling woman for more. Then if you don't remember the coffee machine only takes a certain size disposable cup, you need to return to the front desk and ask the woman who's always irritated to see you for the right cup. After our second night of sleeping in the bed and the bed not made, the sheets became undone and I saw a giant orange stain on the mattress at least two feet long. Disgusting! If this wasn't a work related stay, we would not have stayed more than one night. I've stayed in many hotels and this is by far the worse treatment I've ever received. To add insult to injury, overnight parking in the garage is $40. Disneyland parking is cheaper than this place! Do not waste your money here. read more

We had the pleasure of staying in this little gem of a hotel (which is also near our home) while we had some work done on our house recently. It is tucked between beautifully landscaped high-end office buildings and a luxury apartment- home complex. Its location to a major north-south freeway makes it great for travelers to access. It backs up to a well-manicured green-space and fronts a lifestyle center with two steakhouses, a farm-to-table italian restaurant, a winebar and several other retail and services stores and casual dining restaurants. It is a short drive to Newport Beach and a lovely outdoor luxury shopping mall. The hotel is really clean, nicely decorated and has a large lobby bar with several adjacent outdoor patios for indoor/outdoor dining and drinks. The staff is very accommodating and the rooms are super comfortable. One of the nicest amenities on property is the pool area. It is elevated on the second level of the hotel near the fitness center. The pool is crystal clear, the furniture and seating areas are very nicely maintained and the patio deck has both sunny and shady areas for your comfort. Clean as a whistle! We checked in rather late and checked out rather early so I did not utilize the on-site restaurant. The room included a queen size bed and a sleeper sofa. We had to call the front desk for bedding, but not a big issue. The room didn't have carpet so that eliminated malodor that exists at many hotels. The small coffee maker and supplies were clean and plentiful. Lights in the room were abundant. Rooms are simple, well appointed and updated. Plenty of electrical plugs. We were in room 216. The hotel was very new and modern and the staff were amazing during check in since we had some issues with a few reservations which they took care of with very friendly attitudes. Our daughter got married that weekend and we had lots of out of state guests and wedding party all staying here so of course we had a couple of small issues that were handled pretty easily. The rooms were very nice and modern but there were no drawers in the room for our stuff. Do to the wedding we had lots of stuff to stow away but just managed to lay them all out along the large bench seat along the wall. We figured that since being so close to the airport that most guests are transitory and don't need drawers. The bathroom was nice and modern and our only issue was the glass sliding door was just frosted glass so when someone got up in the middle of the night to use the restroom it lit up the room. The air conditioner was kind of loud when it kicked on but we just got use to it at some point. We called down to tell them that our lights didn't work in the room. We were told that there is a slot by the bathroom door to insert your room key and that activates the lights in the room. I have never seen this system before, so word of advice, put your key in when you go to bed because searching for the key in the dark when you have to go to the bathroom makes for an interesting game hide and seek while doing the pee pee dance. Covid has spared no one from the lack of service personnel or food service choices like we remember them. You will need to order food from your phone using the QR Code on a paper in your room. It can be delivered to your room or brought down to you in the bar area where you can sit and enjoy it at a table. Unfortunately, the bar had no bar tender on a Saturday night but the staff were nice enough to allow us to bring our drinks down from our room to enjoy in the bar with the family and friends that were staying there with us. We didn't have a bottle opener so one of the staff let me use his personal opener which I returned to him when I saw him the next day. Parking was in a structure next to the hotel, a very short walk away unless you use the valet service. You had to hang your AC Marriott parking pass from your mirror and you had to get a ticket when you entered the parking structure but bring it to the hotel front desk to validate because you'll need it to get out of the structure. If you forget your ticket, you can push the button and show your parking pass so they'll let you out with out having to use a credit card to exit. There are lots of places to eat right across the street in a commercial shopping area. Starbucks is right in the middle of it for those early mornings. Some of the processes there are a bit quirky but I still give the hotel five stars. The info in my review are to help others so, that when they read it deciding whether or not to stay, can be prepared. The review also helps staff and management decide what can be improved to enhance their guests stay or what big issues need planning to change. read more

This hotel is modern and in a great location between Irvine and Newport Beach. We got a standard room. It was clean for the most part, however, the bathroom was not. The shower had mildew, the conditioner provided was empty, the sink was not thoroughly cleaned and the countertop had a layer of dust. What also turned me off was the cleaning staff left and envelope on the desk for gratuity. Like ensure the bathroom is clean then ask for a tip. This hotel is super NOISY because the walls are THIN. You can hear your neighbors speaking. Highly recommend bringing a sound machine to help. Lastly, the air conditioning is not great. Perhaps we stayed during a really hot weekend but just saying it did not work as well as expected. read more

I wish I had read reviews before booking!! Others had the same awful experiences I did!! But I just read reviews when I got on Yelp to write a review!! I get there to check in for 2 nights and was informed that the room I made a reservation for was not available. I reserved a king bed with a sleeper sofa since I was traveling with my teenage son who I clearly don't want to sleep in the same bed with!! So the check in guy said over and over they only have a king bed available and offers me free breakfast and to switch rooms the next day . It's literally midnight and we are exhausted from driving for 6.5 hours to get there AFTER CALLING FROM THE ROAD TWICE TO CONFIRM MY RESERVATION AND SAY WE WERE ARRIVING LATE. So I take the room with the king bed and have to sleep in the same bed with my son. We both slept terribly. So the next day they change my room to what I had reserved. A few times when I went to use the bathroom sink there was a very strong ammonia smell when I ran the water. I thought I was nuts at first but it kept happening. Then there was a smell in the room if sewage. Again I thought I was tripping but then my son said the room smelled weird and I had not said anything to him!! If a 16 year old boy thinks a room stinks then it definitely does!! I told the receptionist at the counter and she didn't seem to care. She faked picking up a walk-ie talkie to tell the engineer but nobody ever came to check out the sewage or ammonia smells. This hotel sucks and don't be fooled by the fancy looking pictures online. For parking you have to park in the garage a block away and get the ticket. Then take that too the front desk and wait in line for them to validate the card. You can then get out of the garage BUT next time you return later that day you need to get another ticket from the garage again go to the front desk and wait in line to get it validated again.... Repeat this every time you leave and return. No option for your room key to be used to get in and out of garage like virtually every other hotel in the US. There is also no short term parking if you return and need to run up to your room and get something and then leave. Again only way to do so is to park in garage, get ticket, stand in line, get validated, run to room and get set something then walk back to garage. Very inconvenient. Especially if you are doing it during check in or out hot times. Air conditioner in room ran all night no matter how I adjusted temperature and was very loud. Another annoyance. I'm a hotel snob; everything must be perfect. I love the direction Marriott took with this concept; very modern, stylish, clean, and comfortable. The room I stayed in wasn't very big, but that's why I love it. It FORCES you to go out & explore instead of being cooped up in a room. But when you do stay to sleep, it's amazingly comfortable. Staff was great, space in the lobby was excellent, and best thing is that all the amenities that the Courtyard brand has, this place has it to. Super close walking distance to shopping & eateries. I live right down the street, but stayed just to experience this hotel, and it's my new favorite place. Interior of the hotel is pretty nice and the pool is well maintained. Our room seemed very clean. I arrived very late on Thursday 9/23 and the man working night audit was super rude. No mobile key given and no explanation as to why. The housekeepers, however, were incredibly sweet and helpful on 9/24 and 9/25. Breakfast hours are super limited and they should consider extending them because not every guest is out the door on business at 7am or up before 9am on vacation. Parking is a bit lame for one reason only: the parking structure charges $20/per day and the hotel "validates" and charges you $25. Just park on one of the other levels as a regular customer and save yourself a little money. Their pricing is only beneficial if you plan on staying multiple nights and leaving your car there the whole time. read more

However--super weird and completely arbitrary and subjective "Covid Rules" like having to order breakfast at the front desk (land have it brought to you in the lobby) and then sit in the restaurant anyway while no one is wearing a mask because there is no longer a mask mandate make me wonder if this is a cost saving measure alone. Which is a bad way to run a good hotel. I just came yesterday from staying at a nearby Embassy Suites where they did none of this ridiculous stuff so something is happening here that isn't at their nextdoor competition. Impossible to receive housekeeping and we stayed for six nights. Requested multiple times and kept getting the answer "we have put in the request to have your room fully serviced tomorrow". Finally they came in while we were out today , but the only thing they did was putting some new towels and took out the trash. I always stay here when I come to OC for business. Love the rooms with hardwood floors and stand up showers. Love the gym with all the amenities they have. I also enjoy their European breakfast with eggs options offered . The staff is very friendly and helpful. I love the location too as it has shopping centers close across the street. Parking overnight is $20 so make sure you get validated or else it will be 30-40 dollars. Will be a regular here for business meetings. "Who- mar" is good front desk personnel. I would never stay here again. The rooms look new and modern, but who cares if the place isn't comfortable. The rooms make SO MUCH NOISE. I can't turn off the bathroom fan, the AC sounds like a thunderstorm, and now there is a sound coming from the corner of my room near the window that sounds like someone blowing air through a straw every few seconds or minutes. Just had second stay here recently while dealing with some troubled times for a family member. This time the pool deck was open and was of great comfort to be able to have cup of coffee and sit in the sun while making important phone calls. The staff that work here are al lovely. From the housemaids to the front desk and maintenance crew they are all kind, welcoming and polite. There is a lounge area which is now open partially that serves some food and drinks. I believe that her name is Jessica and apologize if I am wrong but she is extremely nice and efficient and kind. These attributes all help while traveleling and especially with the restrictions and the pandemic. She is positive to be around. The front desk staff are really vested in their jobs. I met two day timers and one night person. They are all prompt, smart, helpful, friendly and kind. I had two crazy experiences during this stay that occurred at night!!!! The first was a fire alarm in the middle of the night that required all guests to leave the building and go out front while the local fireman inspected and decided it was safe to go back in. While there was a strange smoke/fog on the fourth floor where my room was it turned out not to be an actual fire. !!!! Once safely back inside the room a short while later the building moved a bit due to an earthquake. Talk about crazy timing. Anyway we were all safe and nicely taken care of by the nighttime front desk girl and the morning crew as well. My biggest recommendation is for the hotel to have more than one person on the desk at night. I realize things like this don't happen often but when they due the hotel has the responsibility of safety and comfort for the guests. I have found on both my stays that even the hotel guests and there respective doggies to be really nice and considerate whether entering the elevator or walking doggies outside!!!! The Cleaning team keeps the elevators pristine along with the hallways and grounds.!! This location is right near the freeways for easy access and also short uber from the Airport . I am grateful to all the people that work there for projecting such a caring and welcoming vibe. Overall, it's a nice hotel, located about 2 miles from the airport. Right across from the hotel there is a plaza with Starbucks, grocery store and restaurants which provide dining options. The hotel is surrounded by businesses and apartments, so nothing special really. The decor is modern and pleasing .... Why 2 stars: not a great experience. The rooms are clean, but towels worn out and cheap. Walls are really thin - I was awoken by the person walking at an adjacent room, wearing heels. Furthermore: not a relaxing environment. I arrived late and all I wanted was a glass of wine and a light snack, which I was told was offered at the the lounge/bar adjacent to the front desk. At the time, the TV was showing a sports game; a group of individuals who were watching the game were yelling obscenities at the TV making a lot of noise while getting more and more intoxicated. This continued until the game ended. This was an extremely uncomfortable situation and certainly not appropriate, and they were tolerated by the person at the bar. Other visitors looked uncomfortable too - one of them told me that this had happened the previous couple of nights (so it is not an isolated incident). My favorite part was the walk-in shower - I loved how the shower handle was on the opposite side of the wall from the showerhead, making it easy to adjust the temperature before walking in. Breakfast was buffet style, including chia pudding, fresh fruit, cold cuts, cheese, croissant, custom omelette, and the attendant made cappuccino for me. This place used to be so great. I would go out of my way to stay here. But now, I don't know what's happened. I'm a gold elite member and stay here often for work. In the last few months, the hotel seems to be under new ownership or management. The customer service is awful, and today the valet Nathan angrily chided me for parking in a space marked "Hotel Registration, 15 minutes parking". I wasn't even there 10 minutes, and he just seemed super aggressive, asking me if I was going to move like an impatient babysitter. Seriously, I'm never going to book at this hotel again. I just checked in to this hotel about 30 minutes ago. I am a Titanium Level Marriott Rewards member and have stayed at Marriott properties almost exclusively for years. I want to start by sharing that in the current Covid environment, everyone should be showing more grace and understanding. It is something that I strive for. I also know how hard the hotel industry has been hit by the reduction in travel, especially business travel. By the same token, I expect that hotels, an industry with the word hospitality at its very core, would go above and beyond now more than ever to attract and retain their existing, loyal customer base. This is the second time in the last 3 months I have stayed at this specific hotel. The first time I had shabby experience that was highlighted by some of the least friendly, courteous and professional staff that I have ever encountered at a Marriott. I chalked it up to the "newness" of Covid and life under the new normal we are all experiencing. Overall, since I first discovered the AC Hotel line, it has fast become one of my favorites and this was the first time I experienced anything like this. So I decided to give them a second chance. What a huge mistake. The front desk clerk was beyond rude, not at all welcoming and lied to me about my room. If it wasn't for the fact that is is almost midnight and I just drove 7 hours to get here I wouldn't have even bothered staying. I will save the rest of the details for when I reach out to regional management, but suffice it say that I would urge anyone who is even remotely considering staying here to avoid it at all costs. I love Marriott and I love the AC Hotel brand, but this location is absolutely the worst and will never get my business again. read more

It's nice and clean. Staff is nice and courteous. Interior it's modern, feels good to be in but can get claustrophobic after a few nights.

Jennifer in event planning was incredible helping me host a pool party for our High School dance team. The provided a beautiful space and delicious food for a fair price. The girls had a blast. Thank you! read more
