Perfectly cooked lobster - look at that tail meat!
    Amber H.

WOW! First of all this place has new owners - if you tried it before, I implore you TRY IT AGAIN! The food, the prices, the service, the location - all absolute perfection. Our party of 4 had the lobster mac n cheese (didn't get a pic of this because my son devoured it so quickly, YUM!), crab roll, clam chowder and 2 lobster dinners, plus a couple cold beers to wash it down. It was all amazing. Best lobster dinner I've had up here, and we've been coming to Maine for 14 years. The folks working here are all so attentive, kind, going above and beyond. Example - I don't care for the stuff in the body that you sometimes get with super fresh lobsters. Apparently this is a delicacy, but this Southern girl says no thanks. I asked if they would mind giving it a little dip to clean it out once broken. No rolled eyes, no hesitation, just absolutely YES. They cleaned it out, split it open and returned it to our table in a fresh boat. WOW! The lobsters were cooked to perfection. So tender, so juicy, so very fresh. The corn was crisp and amazing. Cole slaw is not usually my jam but their version was delicious! We cleaned our plates. The crab roll had tons of crab - super sweet and amazing. Clam chowder was the perfect balance of creamy broth, clams (so tender), and potatoes. We were already planning our next trip before we left the first time.

We loved this place so much, we went twice on our trip! Great prices for lobster. We had lobster rolls and chowder. Also $5 draft beer and cheap mussels. Such a great place.

Under new ownership and recently opened again! We were here last year for the other owners and loved it, so we came back. We ordered our lobsters and also indulged in a dozen mussels, Pinot Grigio and Downeast cider! Everything was delicious, staff was very friendly and even brought out a bowl of water for our dog. Dogs are welcome which continues with the wonderful theme of the area of Bar Harbor. We spent one week in Maine this year and came to Acadia Lobster Co twice because the standards for great lobsters and seafood was upheld. Very personable staff from greeting walking to the register to order, to the cashier and the staff that brings the food out. Great addition of hand wash station for two people when your done cracking claws and shells! Very clean eating areas, hand wash station and bathrooms. We look forward to seeing yall next year! Good luck!

Awesome people, great food!! What more could you ask? We got here shortly before closing and they were very accommodating.

We came back again. This time we had the New England Lobster Roll (hot with butter), a crab roll, corn on the cob, coleslaw, chips and a whoopie pie.

The floor here is so cool

The lobster rolls were Super Fresh the Acadia burger was perfectly cooked and the brisket was very tender. Mikey was extra helpful with the questions we had about the Lobster. Jenny was super nice and told us about some great spots around town.

We really enjoyed our dinner at Acadia Lobster Company. My wife and I ordered the clam chowder, corn on the cob, steamed clams, and the brisket sandwich. All of the food was delicious, including the coleslaw, which in all honesty I do not like but always have to try. Pricing for our meal was completely fair, and the lobster costs (which we didn't get) were lower than what I would expect in the area. Some things that added to the experience, great staff. They all seemed happy to be there and were chipper chatting with us a little bit about the place and the cooking area. We chose to eat at the indoor picnic tables and they were clean, some places let their picnic tables get sticky, not so at ACL. Great spot indoor or outdoors. Finally, this made it a 5 star for me. THE BATHROOM WAS CLEAN!!! Seriously, so many places overlook the bathroom cleanliness. ACL bathroom was clean, smelled nice, well lit, and I really appreciated that. If you are in the area, get lunch or dinner at Acadia Lobster Company.

Our food was delicious. Our service was excellent. Our experience was excellent. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the evening sunset. We celebrated kids moving into dorms at UMaine. The restaurant just opened last week. I hope this review encourages others to stop

Was told it was a great deal.. so decided to order 2 lobsters and it was 4.9 lbs, $78 total with 2 corns. They were sweet and huge but not sure it was worth it. I still prefer the 1.25 pound lobster and just get 2. The steamers were expensive $20 for just a pound and will definitely not order it again.. but the clam chowder was great. For $125, it was too much money, we were satisfied but was hungry a few hours later. But its bar harbor, nothing is cheap and you have a great view of the Cadillac mountain. I live part time in Maine, so this review may have been biased because there's plenty of other places that's cheaper than this spot.

I chose Downeast because I've heard good things about it. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my twin lobster combo (two smaller lobsters with corn & butter, $30 altogether). My husband had the $36 lobster melt, which someone else reviewed poorly and I sort of understand why. The lobster melt definitely seems to be overpriced. It's hard to understand why it's $6 more than the twin lobster combo. But they must price them with enough reasons. I'm not running the business, so I'm just looking at it from a customer's perspective.

It…read morewas packed to the gills (pun intended) with both locals and the hordes of tourists who descend to this part of Maine to visit the Acadia region. The place is apparently famous for its pies, and if course, since it is Maine, fir seafood. A lot of the dishes in the menu are market price, which is understandable. The waitress was Megan and she was all smiles and very friendly, and there's a small army of staff working their tuchis off on Sunday, which is when I dropped by. Super generous portions, which seems to be the standard for this region of Maine. I started with the basic Maine dish of seafood chowder. Helen's seafood chowder is a rich, creamy soup that celebrates the fresh flavors of the area. Tender chunks of haddock, clams, shrimp, and scallops are simmered with potatoes, onions, and celery in a white thickish broth seasoned with butter, herbs, and perhaps a touch of black pepper? Every spoonful was hearty, comforting, and filled with the sweet, briny taste of the sea and packed with chunks of seafood. Definitely Maine style comfort food! Once again, I went for the fish and chips and that was a hit! Flaky, fresh Haddock coated in a light, crispy golden batter and fried to perfection. Served alongside hot, hand-cut fries, this classic favorite of mine was (as usual) accompanied by creamy coleslaw, tangy tartar sauce, and a fresh lemon wedge for the perfect finishing touch. Did I mention that the blueberry pie was out of this world? YUM! And they have military and veterans' discount!

Helen's gave me exactly what I wanted for this evening and exactly what I was expecting. They were out of banana cream pie. But another pie looked good. Turns out it was a vanilla cream pie w/ cinnamon graham cracker crust and it was excellent! The restaurant seemed to be hosting a small gathering for firefighters and other first responders tonight. It's the type of place where all people say hello to you and make you feel comfortable. And I got all this from a takeout order! A throwback to the good old days. I will return... for banana cream pie

This is a shame, because the place brings a great culinary diversity to an area where others might, as I did, want to pull over on the way to Bar Harbor. Their naan was somewhat unconventionally given as an appetizer with chutneys, but this worked fine for me and it was freshly grilled. The portion size for the price was not huge, and I was actually surprised that they didn't do traditional Sri Lankan dishes like kootu paratha, but I was happy that i pulled over, and the option remains to travelers for a little while longer.
