Excited upon my return, with only three parties in front of me- for a take out order, I waited in line and placed my order. 30 minutes later I politely asked if my order was coming up... they said "three parties still in front of you..." A short time later I noticed two parties AFTER me got their orders. I patiently waited some more... another 20 minutes I asked again... Finally got my order... fries were cold- meaning it was already done but they never called my order. FYI Order was ribs and a lobster roll w/fries... If a mistake was made- (it happens, I get it) at least offer to make me some fresh, hot, fries- I'd happily wait five more minutes. Disappointed. Stop in for a bite to eat on our way to southwest harbor. The staff was super nice and we brought our dog "on a leash" with us and enjoyed some amazing BBQ. The brisket was extremely tender and juice and fell apart in your mouth!!! They have a sweet homemade BBQ sauce that goes very well with the pulled pork. So disappointed. We drove by a couple days ago and the place was packed so we planned to come back. We had eight in our party, a couple of us had ribs- they came out cold and flavorless. A couple of us had finger and said they were good (rated from a 9 year old) . The lobster was good. The brisket was super salty and tasted like it was full of msg. Fries were great but cold. Coleslaw has pineapple in it, beans and potato salad were meh. The clam chowder was Luke warm at best. And it was all super expensive.... The two waiters/cashier/bus boys were amazing! When looking for a place to eat post Acadia you'd be surprised the number of seafood and bbq joints on the road out of town. We stopped here because the review of the beers was so glowing and that when I asked my husband what he thought of smoked lobster he said "I'll let you know when I try it". Now apparently he's a lobster purist so smoked isn't he favorite twist. But the baked beans here, the beer and the service are all excellent. I had the ribs which were great dry, and the Cole slaw which was dry. Flavorful but a little missing in dressing. The screen house is a little hodgepodge and the space between the outdoor ovens and dining area could use some straightening up, but other than that, hey, the food was top notch. The brisket meat was tender and flavorful. The pulled pork was perfect in texture and taste. The lobster Roll was loaded and fresh and done correctly. Did I mention it was loaded? Slaw was sweeet. A must have. They make it all in these outside what looked to be wood fired oven steamer brick ovens. Very cool. Kid friendly and clean restroom. Serves beer too. Very reasonable prices. Delicious! came during a mini get away for Memorial Day weekend and had to dine here twice during the trip. Sunday night there was even a live performance. The first visit I ordered the two lobster tail combo comes with two sides. I selected the baked beans and French fries. Second time back I ordered the classic lobster combo also comes with two sides. This time I had French fries and corn on the cob. Scrumptious both times everything is made fresh to order. First time trying lobster from Maine and this place did not disappoint. Very friendly staff! I recommend this spot to everyone. Bar Harbor has some great restaurants but this establishment definitely takes the cake. read more

So it's been a year and things definitely changed the menu is different they offer barbecue and lobster and that's pretty much it, the seafood platter and the different types of seafood are gone. I was a little disappointed because I was in a mood for my favorite fried fish and I skipped one of the other local restaurants to go here because this was always my favorite. So I wanted up getting my standard smoke mussels basket as an appetizer and the brisket the first odd thing was I had to pay for this all upfront which means that if I decide to have any other drinks I would have to pay again not a big deal. Sat down and the first thing to come out was the brisket not the muscles and I was kind of shocked by the amount of fat both on the meat and the liquid fat in the dish not to mention there really wasn't a smoky taste to it. The beans which were recommended as one of the best sides we're stone cold, And the onion rings which used to be my favorites we're so salty I couldn't eat anymore after the fourth bite and I can normally eat anything. By the time I was able to get to my mussels they were cold and had no smoke flavoring whatsoever. When I had arrived at the restaurant I sat down at a picnic table and didn't realize it but I had to get up and get my own menu and place the order at the counter even though there was four people standing around talking to each other none of them either greeted me or even said that there was no wait staff. When I got up and left I cleaned up my table took the trays up to the counter emptied my trays off turned around and walked away and still no one asked how it was or said goodbye. It's a shame I love promoting Maine businesses Because I realize how hard it is out there for the small businesses, but this was terrible it's turned into a tourist trap like most of the other restaurants that surround it. We stopped here on our way home from Acadia, after hiking Beech Mountain in the morning. This place was phenomenal, and I don't even think that's just the post-climbing hunger talking! Our kids got chicken tenders and a hot dog, so they were happy, and I enjoyed stealing their fries. I have a shellfish allergy so no lobster for me - I had the smashburger and it was delicious! It came on some really yummy bread, definitely a step up from your usual bun. I got it with the onion rings, which are really more like onion strings, and they were the best onion rings I've had in a long time, so good! On the drive home my husband was googling how to make them like that at home. My husband was very torn between lobster and barbecue but opted for the brisket + pulled pork sandwich. He loved it! We spent our meal saying things like, "I didn't expect it to be THIS good from the reviews!" "Wouldn't it be amazing to stay at the motel across the road and eat here every day??" Stayed on Mt Desert Island and was trying to find a place to stop on the way off island for dinner. Since it's late in the season, and due to COVID, many places are closed or have adjusted hours. So finding somewhere that's not only delicious, but open, has proven difficult. Let me get down to it and just say that EVERYTHING about this place is awesome. Cornhole, outdoor seating, music playing, friendly staff wearing masks, and the FOOD! My brother in law and I love some good BBQ and I've had plenty of it up and down the east coast. Let me tell you what though, these boys in Maine know what they're doing. The brisket was on point, and would melt in your mouth, pulled pork was tender, juicy, and flavorful. Both of which really didn't even need the included bbq sauce. Our wives got lobster rolls which were fantastic and between us all we had their slaw, potato salad, and onion rings for sides. The potato salad was missing a little something, but if my biggest complaint is the potato salad this place is doing something right. All in all, excellent food, great atmosphere and easy to get to. This may have been the best meal and restaurant experience I've ever had. We walked in fairly late, saw a sign with an efficient "grab a menu then order at the counter" system, and were quickly greeted. Tables available, no line, took our order as soon as we were ready. We got the pulled pork cheese fries, smoked mussels, brisket sandwich with potato salad, lobster roll with fries. I asked what beers they had available, and was pleasantly surprised to learn this unassuming place had ~5 local craft beers on tap. Had a great red ale I'd never heard of. I then asked if there was anything else I really should be ordering, since this was my first and maybe last time there. The guy who was taking the order nodded at our current choices, especially the brisket, then said "the beans? I could swap them in instead of... No, I'll just throw in a small side of beans". Rang us up with all the items in his head, came out cheaper than expected. My wife and I devoured everything in 15 minutes, then talked through every item and agreed that each was individually delicious, but also incredibly well balanced with all the rest. I stopped for lobster. It tasted OK but was much smaller than I expected. I ordered twin tails thinking I way over ordered but left feeling like I could have eaten a twin plate of what I just had. The corn on the cob was tuff and had no flavor. I was also surprised to discover that they had no lemon. I have never eaten seafood anywhere that didn't offer lemon. I asked for a glass of ice for my bottled tea but never got it. Don't think I would go back with so many other options available.
