    Blueberry pancakes

My wife and I had breakfast here the morning of August 18. I ordered blueberry pancakes and she got eggs, bacon at home fries. Everything was prepared promptly and superbly. The server was extra attentive, and the coffee was fantastic. I'm so glad we happened upon this awesome choice for breakfast without having to go back into Bar Harbor.

We stopped by Colonel's on Labor Day and were able to be seated quickly. Our server was excellent and attentive. The restaurant has an old school vibe with the wooden booth seats and it feels appropriate given the setting. We ordered a bowl of clam chowder, a french dip, and the fried clams. We agreed all were excellent! The fries and coleslaw surprised us by how good they were. The clams seemed more authentic than most seafood locations we have been to and their tartar sauce was a bit bitey, but quite good. We may stop back before our trip is over!

Quaint little restaurant, bar and bakery. They cover it all. Stopped in for lunch and we were seated right away. I had the haddock sliders which were lightly breaded and crispy served with lettuce, tomato and tartar sauce. The side of house made slaw was good. My dining companion had a huge bowl of whole belly clam chowder that she called delicious.

We were driving around after viewing the sunrise at thunder hole and we're starving. I was not expecting such a lovely place in the middle of nowhere. Our waitress was super great and the restaurant seemed be recently remodeled, very lovely inside. Love the map tables Food was good and quick. Note that real maple syrup is a $4 charge!

The best donuts I've ever had. Would highly recommend. The bakery is a bit deceiving... seems like it'll only be okay, but you will be more than pleasantly surprised!

Again, Order the thing a place is famous for a be happy!! It's going to be damn good. That is why you must have the Blueberry doughnuts at the Colonel. No not the KFC colonel. but the Colonel bakery in NorthEast Harbor, ME. They are hands down the best Blueberry doughnuts on the planet. Do yourself a flavor and fly to Maine now.

Stopped here on a rainy day. Had the scallop plate, and it was excellent! Others got lobster rolls and lobster melts, all of which were fabulous. One person got a salad which was so so

We came here on a Tuesday afternoon. There are local beers in a good sized menu. Two of us had the lobster roll. One had a lobster melt with the clam chowder. Another one had the fried scallops one had that turkey sandwich, and one of our dining companions had the cranberry salad. Starting with the lobster rolls, they are not on a traditional lobster roll, but are served on their bakery bread. It is a mayo based lobster roll with lettuce and a tomato slice. I know it is Maine in early summer but the tomatoes on everything. We're very anemic looking. But all and all the sandwich was quite tasty I had sweet potato fries which were good but not spectacular. My dining companion, who had the lobster melt says it was very good. He would give it a five. The fried scallops were tender, and just lightly breaded and fried. I thought they were excellent. It also came with fries. The salad was OK, did not have any dark greens was just sort of iceberg, and romaine. But the dressing was good. The turkey club had a nice cranberry relish on it. There were a number of local beers to choose from. I would say it was a solid place to stop.

During a recent visit to Bar Harbor, my family and I were on the hunt for a good breakfast spot. A few seconds of searching on my phone brought us to The Colonel's. They offer take out or dine in seating, with lots of options and a friendly staff too. Ample free public parking out front with other shops on the street to check out as well. We opted to dine in and were happily served omelets, pancakes, and blueberry muffins. Everyone was happy with their food and the portion sizes. On the take-out side, they offer pastries and coffee drinks both which smelled delicious. A great spot to grab a filling breakfast before hitting the trailhead or a day of exploring the island.

An expedient and delicious lunch spot. Colonels has a new and clean appearance. Bright with lots of varnished wood. The food and service were both excellent. We had a party at six and sampled lobster rolls lobster melts and fried scallops. All were top notch. The lobster melt was tasty, but the lobster roll had a more generous portion of lobster. The scallops were cooked perfectly --tender and sweet. The servers were attentive, and had good recommendations. The kitchen is very efficient, I was amazed at how fast are food came out.

However, we weren't too tired to eat it, so we had the food delivered from Side Street Cafe. So glad we did it that way cuz it was terrific... and easy to arrange ! My hubby ordered their Cubano sandwich while I ordered a cheeseburger. He loved his Cubano, which came with a side of mac 'n cheese. The mac 'n cheese was light in flavor, I think because of the kind of cheese used. I prefer more flavor, but it wasn't bad either. My( burger was quite large, and it was really tasty... very nicely seasoned beef patty, and it had all the things I like... cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle.... and catsup. I was very happy. It came with fries, but I had my fill of fries with all the lobster rolls I had ordered along the way, so I didn't eat them. Plus, there was a slice of blueberry pie calling out to me, so I wanted to blow my calories with the pie... and so glad I did cuz it was another spectacular piece of blueberry pie. Against my will, I split it with my hubby. Lol. It was a great way to end our meal. (Turns out we never got dinner that night cuz we were so full from such a nice lunch.) Side Street Cafe is definitely going on my radar if we're ever fortunate enough to return to Bar Harbor.

While visiting Bar Harbor, my friend, and I stopped here for lunch after a long morning of hiking in Acadia. It was the perfect comfy, carb loaded meal that we were looking for! I got the create your own mac & cheese, and it was delicious. Such a huge serving, that I probably could have shared it! Our server was also lovely and so helpful while deciding what to order. We sat outside in their patio because it was such a nice day, though their indoor seating also looked nice. But the highlight for me was the pie. Such a perfect balance of crust versus filling, crystallized sugar on top to add a sweet crunch, and a nice generous scoop of vanilla ice cream to go with it. I regret not coming back here at least one more time before we left Bar Harbor to get it again. All the more reason for me to plan another trip, I suppose! :)

It was a welcomed break- we were seating very quickly despite how busy it seemed. They told us 35-45 min, but we got seated in 15 (just enough time to get our packs put in our car and walk back to the restaurant!). Once seated, we were waited on very quickly. Our server, Luca, was wonderful. Of course, we tried the popover- it was light and paired excellently with the butter and jam. It did need the butter to add some salt. I really enjoyed the soft interior (almost custard-like). We then tried the brisket poutine. The portion was insanely large! Perfect for two of us to share. My only criticism here is that the brisket wasn't very tender. However, the flavor was good and all of the parts (potato, cheese curds, and meat) paired very well together. We also tried the lobster stew- this was incredible and so delicious. Very creamy and a generous portion of lobster. Finally, we ended with the blueberry bread pudding, which is made with their popover. It was such a unique style of bread pudding, very soft on the inside, which some large blueberry pieces. We really enjoyed it. We were very pleased with our meal overall, I just felt they it was a little pricier than I would have liked (the brisket was fairly priced for sure. Coffee, not so much).

The scenic setting is about all this place has going. After doing the pond loop trail, we had…read morereservations at 4 pm and sat down to an early dinner. The popovers were great and came with butter and jam, and a swarm of yellow jackets. The hard lemonade and lavender gin were great. The food was barely edible. The haddock should be covered in butter and breadcrumbs. This is really hard to mess up but the haddock was so overcooked and dry, it was sawdust. The kids mac and cheese was penne with what tasted like Velveeta and nacho cheese? It was absolutely disgusting. After sending back the inedible haddock with overcooked green beans, I asked for spinach salad with no blue cheese. Of course they added blue cheese. I had to send that back too. The icing on the cake was as someone was originally bringing out our meals, they tripped and dropped half of an order of potato chips on the ground. No apology and no effort to bring out more. We had to ask if we could have more chips since it mostly ended up on the ground 10 feet away. Also concerning no one bothered to pick it up. Everyone just walked over and stepped in this pile if chips! It wasn't like 3 chips. It was like half a platter.... I went and got my own plasticware from the popover prosecco stand since no effort was made to bring me another fork after sending back 2 plates. I rarely complain and after hiking all day, I was starving and would have practically eaten anything. But next time I will know to skip this place. Hike and eat a picnic lunch or dinner. Definitely don't eat at this tourist trap. I am just praying I don't get food poisoning.
