There were loads of options for vegetarians (which is not something I remember from our earlier experiences), I had a couple delicious vermouths, my wife had a lovely orange wine, my kids were happy, and the service was friendly. As always, Toro was packed (I think it's been packed consistently since the day it opened) and lively. What a neighborhood gem. Long may it remain.

We made it clear that we would gladly crowd the table and make it work but we're told that there literally weren't enough chairs. Which was not true. At one point we were told the the add could "stand" at the table. It is extraordinary that she made this statement. It is profoundly galling. I didn't catch her name but it was a slightly heavyset woman in a leopard skirt. I am sure they this is a lively spot with a decent rep and lots of business. However, when a place starts to think that they no longer exist to serve customers but rather that customers are lucky to eat here they will quickly go down hill-- frankly a sign that it already has. Arrogance is rarely rewarded in this industry. And this place is not good enough to be arrogant. The pluses do not outweigh the minuses. Our other opted to go off on his own. We ate. The food is wildly overpriced. $9 for 2 slices of a baguette with tomato puree. I make this at home and the food cost is about $0.75. The other items weren't quite as absurdly priced but I found the pricing for the pan con tomate idiotic. The food was solid overall, not amazing. The service was okay from the waitstaff but somewhat intermittent. The experience overall left a bad taste in my mouth. I was happy when it was over. To add insult to injury they allow smoking on the sidewalk tables and the people next to us were smoking something pretty vile from a vape pen.

That may be the way they're supposed to be served here but I didn't like that part. The service was super friendly and the food was brought out quickly. I loved that the staff were all wearing Spain jerseys to celebrate the World Cup win! One last thing I didn't like: there's a QR code at your table to pay your bill on your phone which is convenient, but they tack on a sneaky $2 platform fee if you use it, and it takes some extra effort to have your server actually bring you the bill to avoid that. Two bucks isn't a big deal but it's the principle! I'd rather put that amount towards the tip.

Thirty minutes more and we received our shishito peppers and Jamon croquettes. Finally after almost two hours we received the steak dish we ordered. Honestly the long wait for these small dishes had killed our appetite and we decided to cancel the rest of our orders and leave to eat somewhere else. Wouldn't recommend coming here if you're hungry. Good spot to sit and talk for hours

Come Mother's Day and I am not a fan of going out on the actual day, but I did remember this place. We made a Saturday reservation, picked up my son from work, and headed over here. SO WORTH IT! I thought the spot was adorable and clearly well loved by locals and their own staff. You really get the feeling that all that work there really love the place. I like the menu items are not the "usual suspects" I see at most Tapas places, which are good but sometimes you want to shake things up. We got: Bolas de queso Patatas Aioli Croquetas De Jamon Croquetas De Verduras Solomillo De Ternera y Queso Cabrales Calamares Fritos Tabla de Quesos Pisto Manchego Albondigas De Cordero Iberico Peras Borrachas Torta De Chocolate All the menu items were flavorful and enjoyable. I think my favorite was the Croquetas De Jamon, if I had to choose just one item. We also decided to get two desserts - a pear dessert which seems to be their signature dish and the chocolate tort. While the pear was lovely, I was really in the mood for something chocolate so I enjoyed it more (but honestly cannot go wrong with either).

What we don't like about Pintxo is how ridiculous the price of each tiny tapa dish is. Try comparing the price of each of the dish we ordered and, it's just unheard of.

It was like a homecooked meal made with care. The staff was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and accommodating. They customized the level of spice heat and ingredients on request. The Bolinhos de bacalhau were extraordinary. I normally try to to avoid fried food but I tried one and they were crunchy on the outside, soft and creamy on the inside, flavorful but not overly salty as they usually are. I can't say enough about the duck rice as well, it was the perfect texture, full of flavor, just fantastic. And for dessert, the Tarte de Natas again blew my mind. I've had them before but what made these special was the caramelization on top of the creaminess of the custard. They validate parking under the highway around down the street, so it's easy to park. The experience was so positive that I went back for an anniversary dinner last summer and again had a fantastic meal with great service--and a special "Happy Anniversary" menu--such a nice touch.

Highly recommend!

So, I decided to treat myself to a solo lunch. I began with the mixto ceviche, which was a refreshing and vibrant dish. The fish was exceptionally flavorful and perfectly complemented the onion and peppers. The shrimp was fresh, full of flavor, while the octopus was a bit tough, still enjoyable. The sauce was a tad heavy and thick for my taste, and the portion size was a bit small considering the price. On the bright side, the chips were light and incredibly tasty. I also ordered the Costillas de Cerdo. The sauce was excellent, and a few bites were oh so good. The disappointment came in the ribs themselves -- the meat didn't come off the bone easily, which made working through the dish more effort than it should have been. This place truly impressed me with its exceptional service, especially considering my allergies. My server proactively approached the kitchen and communicated directly with them, demonstrating remarkable attentiveness and care. Their prompt response and willingness to accommodate my needs without any hassle made a significant difference. The friendly and accommodating nature of the server throughout the entire dining experience made it feel effortless to enjoy a solo meal. Three stars for now -- great flavors and genuinely caring service, with a few misses on execution and portion for the price.
