Both the drink and food menus have a staggering variety of items. My favorites were the tortilla español ($10) that came with the delicious garlic aioli and the jamon Iberico ($34), though nothing was a dud. The croquetas were hot, fluffy, and so unique. A vibey spot for tapas! My friend and I tried a few different ones and they were all pretty good, although we noticed a couple of items were a bit overcooked/burnt, including the patatas bravas. That may be the way they're supposed to be served here. The service was super friendly and the food was brought out quickly. I loved that the staff were all wearing Spain jerseys to celebrate the World Cup win! One last thing I didn't like: there's a QR code at your table to pay your bill on your phone which is convenient, but they tack on a sneaky $2 platform fee if you use it, and it takes some extra effort to have your server actually bring you the bill to avoid that. Two bucks isn't a big deal but it's the principle! I'd rather put that amount towards the tip. read more

Beautiful Space, Catastrophic Execution I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had in years. We visited Boqueria Boston on Father's Day and arrived to find the restaurant nearly empty. Despite that, the experience started poorly when the host refused to accommodate a simple request to sit near a TV so we could watch the FIFA match. After being seated, it took roughly 20 minutes just to be acknowledged. We ordered two bottled beers, a bottle of still water, and tap water. The tap water arrived within minutes, but the beers and bottled water took another 10+ minutes. The beers were served without glasses, and the bottled water was simply dropped on the table without being served. When ordering, we were informed that at least five menu items were unavailable, including the seafood paella we had specifically come to try. The explanation was that they were out of clams and mussels. After insisting they check with the kitchen, we were told they could prepare it without the clams, so we agreed. The pacing of the meal was baffling. Pimientos de Padrón arrived after about 15 minutes, but then another 20-25 minutes passed before the cheese board and salad appeared. The quality was disappointing throughout. The goat cheese tasted like a bulk food-service product, and the pan con tomate was overwhelmed by raw garlic. The gambas took roughly 45 minutes to arrive and came with only three tiny pieces of bread. We immediately ordered additional grilled bread and waited another 20 minutes for that. Throughout the meal, every inquiry about the delays was met with excuses, despite the restaurant being mostly empty and fully staffed. After waiting more than an hour for the paella, I finally requested the check. Miraculously, the paella appeared moments later. Unfortunately, it wasn't worth the wait. It was bland, lacked any depth of flavor, and was among the most forgettable paellas I've ever had. To make matters worse, no fresh plates or utensils were provided for the main course. Service remained consistently poor. Water glasses were never refilled. Different servers randomly dropped off dishes, yet nobody seemed interested in clearing empty plates. We eventually started stacking dirty dishes on a neighboring table ourselves before someone finally removed them. Our primary server informed us she was going on break and essentially disappeared for the remainder of the meal, only reappearing when it was time to present the check. The only employee who showed any accountability was an older gentleman who eventually stepped in, acknowledged the problems, and provided a 50% discount after realizing part of our order had never been rung in. While appreciated, the gesture came far too late to salvage the experience. Beyond the service issues, the operational details were concerning. The open kitchen made it easy to observe staff working without hairnets or hats, and employees were constantly entering and exiting the same restrooms used by guests, often carrying backpacks and personal belongings through the dining room. What makes this especially disappointing is that I've had much better experiences at Boqueria locations in New York. However, this visit reinforced what feels like a steady decline in the brand. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The concept is strong. The location is excellent. Unfortunately, the management and training appear to be severely lacking. With so many outstanding dining options in Boston's Seaport, I cannot recommend this location. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. read more

I was super excited to try this tapas spot - i loved aesthetic (it really reminded me of an upscale spot in Barcelona) and really enjoyed the dishes we ordered but unfortunately was a bit disappointed overall with the experience The food itself was delicious! We started with the patatas bravas which were crispy, savory, hot, and delicious. The lamb skewers were sooo good - tender and paired so well with the buttery brioche and pickled onions. We also loved the steak and chorizo - sooo delicious with the garlic aioli. Portions are on the small side and you are charged extra for any adds! The service is where we were let down and why I cannot rate any higher. We came on a Saturday afternoon and despite it not being too busy, it took almost an hour for even our first dish to come out. Additionally, it wasn't until after our first dish came out that we were told they were out of two other dishes that we had ordered. Attended a work dinner at Boqueria last night an I can't say enough about their great drinks, tapas, and service. It's in a hidden street, and even some locals were shocked they didn't know it was there. When we walked in we were all immediately dazzled by the warm, modern interior. Their GM was extremely kind, and our server Nathan was over the top incredible. He gave us all recommendations, matched our energy, and made our experience even more incredible. It was our first time in Boston. We accompanied our eldest to get settled in Boston as he begins his residency program at Tufts Medical Center in mid-June. Dinner at the wonderful restaurant was our way to celebrate his achievements. It seems like a very popular hangout for locals and has quite a lively evening vibe. This is a great tapas place to go hang with a group of friends, have some drinks and share a few plates of very good Spanish tapas style food. I have 4 stars for food and service only because I have had much better before. We had theee different servers rotating throughout the night and that took away from a consistent service feeling. First waiter was not very good, didn't make any suggestions and couldn't remember orders. The sangaria was super weak / watered down, so skip that. I've been to a couple of other Boqueria locations and it's always a great spot for Spanish tapas and paella. This time we were walking around Seaport and decided to get dinner here. Between 4 people we shared the patatas bravas, calamari, garlic shrimp, meatballs and seafood paella. Everything was delicious but I especially loved the calamari which was super tender and very lightly breaded and the paella which had a ton of seafood including octopus, monkfish, clams, squid and shrimp. I'm not a huge fan of paellas where the rice is on the more al dente side but this was just perfect with plenty of crispy rice on the bottom of the pan. The garlic shrimp with bread also deserves a shout out! Dipping the bread in the garlic oil topped with shrimp was such a great bite. We had a terrible experience at Boqueria. We sat at the bar and were told there was a corporate event later on, but that we could sit at the end of the bar which would be no issue to the incoming party, and ordered drinks and dinner. Then, out of the blue, a server came over and aggressively told us to leave because of the private event. With 9 minutes notice - with a full glass of wine left to drink. We were clearly not in violation of the policy the host made us aware of, and asked to see a manager. He reiterated the need for us to leave stat, regardless of the fact that it was only 6;50, 10 full minutes before the alleged party was set to arrive. No apology. No explanation. Just a completely sloppy, unprofessional mess. Told us to leave immediately as they had someone who bought out half of the bar. Two hot looking ladies at the end of the bar hardly presented a threat to the incoming traffic. If the bar was reserved, we should never have been seated there in the first place. The bar staff was nice, but that doesn't make up for how innaproptiarely this handled. Clearly the staff - including the manager - lacks experience and decorum. As executives at a highly regarded firm in south boston, we will no longer be patronizing an establishment that treats their customers so egregiously. Go anywhere else in the neighborhood. It was really busy throughout the city so we ended up not being able to get any seating until really late but I guess that's what happens when you don't make reservations on a Saturday. It's a convenient spot with a bunch of menu offerings, though, so it's still a good place for groups. Fantastic! This is one of those high quality/low quantity tapas places... My husband and I came here for dinner. We started with the manchego cheese, truffle goat cheese and chorizo. The cheese melted in your mouth and the chorizo had excellent flavor! The slices of bread that came on the charcuterie board were amazing as well; I wanted to eat a whole loaf! Then we shared the croquetas, atun canario (raw tuna) and the mini hamburguesa. All were great but I think the tuna in the avocado cilantro marinade was my favorite. I could eat that dish everyday! And the burger sliders were cooked to a nice med-rare even though they were tiny! For dessert, we shared the chocolate cheesecake and it was just as delicious as everything else! I wanted to try out this spot once I found out it was a tapas restaurant in the seaport. The atmosphere was very cool and I liked the vibe of the restaurant. I have always loved going to Barcelona so I was excited to try a restaurant with a similar concept and I was not disappointed! We ordered the PATATAS BRAVAS, BRUSSELS SPROUTS, CROQUETAS DE JAMÓN, SEARED SKIRT STEAK, and the MAC AND CHEESE. Everything was delicious besides the mac and cheese. It was a little watery for me and the noodles didn't make sense for that type of dish, other than that, would come back again! However multiple ordinary items like the Spanish tortilla (which shouldn't require any exotic ingredients) were not available. They were even out of ice tea! How do you run out of iced tea? We made it extremely clear that one person was allergic to mustard but even after our server said she checked, she delivered the first dish and let us know that actually salad dressing had mustard in it. The worst meal of our stay in Boston was at Boqueria. With good reviews from Yelp, we went there with high expectation. Unfortunately our experience was not similar to most of the reviews. We ordered anchovies, crispy potatos, skirt steak, and seafood paella. Dishes ranged from terrible to ok. The worst dish wad the skirt beef steak. It was not prepared properly. Connective tissue was not trimmed out. Every piece was extremely chewy due to the tissue. We actually had to split out almost every slice of beef, not possible for chewing nor swallowing. The anchovies were very thin and lacking flavor. The crispy potatoes tasted ok. The seafood paella was the best tasting dish. However the advertised monk fish were missing in action. Out of four mussels in the paella, three were not opened. We tried to open them with our knife, but the shell broke into pieces. Those mussels should not had left the kitchen in a signature dish. Our waiter kept ignoring us. Water was not refilled and never checked to see how we were doing. This actually was one of the worst dinning experience in several years for us. read more

We stumbled upon this place while in Seaport, and so glad we did. There were multiple dishes on the menu that reminded us of being back in Spain. While we were only there for a quick drink and mid-day tapas, the vibe was welcoming but also made me want to come back again later in the day with friends. I am writing to share feedback about my visit to your restaurant today with a reservation at 1pm for four people. While I understand that a birthday party with around 30 guests was taking place in a reserved area, the service we experienced was disappointing. We waited approximately 45 minutes before receiving our drinks. As this is a tapas restaurant, we expected timely service, but it took another 15 minutes (one hour after ordering) to receive just one of the five tapas dishes--a salad. The remaining dishes were served one at a time, with long delays between each. Meanwhile, another party of four that arrived around 2:30pm ordered drinks and 4-5 dishes, including paella, and received their food almost simultaneously within 30 minutes. By 3:15pm, the other party was already receiving their check, while we were still waiting and ready to leave. When we inquired about the delay, we were told there were only two chefs working and they were waiting for a third. As a regular diner in Boston, I have experienced many restaurants, but unfortunately, I cannot recommend this one based on today's experience. A great place to celebrate your birthday! They had a good array of vegetarian and meat options for your group. The service was very friendly and they gave us extra food for free at the table was which very nice. The birthday girl also got a free dessert. The sangria was delicious and sweet. I really like the atmosphere, I would say it is modern classy with great vibes overall. The staff is super helpful and knowledge, I've been with a group where it was their first time having tapas, and the server did a great job explaining and giving recs. I would say some dishes are pretty outstanding, I loved the lamb dish and Iberico pork with a fried egg. Their potatoes bravas is a good value dish to order. I would say the higher prices compared to other tapas restaurants in Boston is justified by the quality and flavors of the dishes + being a nice restaurant in seaport. AMBIENCE: hep and cool ambience with a Spanish Tasca feel. The tables feel a bit precarious and tight, especially because the place requires people to order a number of plates -- not enough space for multiple plates and drinks. But manageable and not at all a deal-breaker. SERVICE: Excellent! The servers were courteous, and the food arrived fast. The manager swung by to check on us, which felt nice. FOOD: Ranged from excellent to average. Our group ordered Anchovies, Brussel Sprouts, Shishito Peppers, Octopus, Shrimp in garlic, the cheese cake and the olive oil cake. Brussel Sprouts were the best -- crispy, caramelized, and you could taste the high quality oil and herbs. Shrimp in Olive oil gets high marks as well. Shishito peppers were good, but I was hoping they would have the authentic padron peppers. Octopus was pretty average, which was surprising, as Spanish places do very good octopus. Felt a bit rubbery and not too fresh. Have had much better in a couple of places within 5-mins walk from here. Olive oil cake was sub-par. Everything my group ordered, I was really surprised (in a good way). The patatas bravas were incredible, the potatoes were smashed and super crispy. Great balance between potato flavor, tomato sauce, aioli, and crispiness. Another hit was the mussels, the sauce was amazing - thankfully they serve it with bread so you can dip it in afterwards.
