Found ourselves hungry and in unfamiliar territory on a Saturday night. Luckily we came across this little gem. Well actually it is much bigger on the inside than you would think. The place was chuck full, but the host squeezed us in next to the bar. Let's be clear, this is not an upscale fine dining establishment. It's your neighborhood Mexican spot. Despite being extremely busy we were seated immediately. Within seconds the waiter took our drink order and provided chips and salsa. This had to be one of the best salsas EVER. Fresh and full of flavor. The margaritas were also very good. And big like I like them. We ordered the guacamole, my friend had a vegetarian combo and i opted for the classic Chimichangas with chicken. I was a bit disappointed in the guacamole, I have to admit I have had better. My friend enjoyed here veggie combo and I found the chimichangas to be quite filling and delicious. We stopped in at 5:45 on Friday. Got seated immediately. Definitely not busy. Only received our chips and salsa, and soft drinks. Waiter never came back to take our order, but took orders at tables all around us seated after us. After a half hour we left. Never going back. Horrible service and when I stopped at the cashier stand to put down $5 for the 2 soft drinks I told them why we were leaving and they couldn't care less. There's better Mexican restaurants in the area I'm sure. read more

Ordered the special during lunch it was listed on the board for $7.75. During my meal they switched it to $9.75 and would not honor their price. The guy taking payments is dishonest and rude. This has been our go to Mexican food spot for over 15 yrs ..We love it because the consistency is on point !!!And that's everything to me .Food is always good ,food comes out FAST .Waiters are pleasant .Prices are decent .But I always had one complaint.No Horchata .And this Saturday for my daughter's birthday we went to our surprise we saw a sign on the door that said they have horchata now .I couldn't believe it .As always the atmosphere is calm and happy .There was a large table seated near us and a few others .But the mood was good .our cheese dip was THICK and creamy .Unlike other places .Salsa I could drink it .chips were fresh .I order tacos and horchata .my daughter chicken and rice .My boyfriend ordered alambre.We saw the waiter coming and said NO WAY that's our food already .It was .How do they do it ?what kind of magic does this place got going on ?!?Everything was delicious.Thanks to this place for not becoming that "party" night club that the other Mexican restaurant are trying to be !!!I don't want a night club ,I want great food ,friendly staff and affordable prices .1,000 best place in butler county to eat Mexican food read more

This trip to Acapulco was amazing! The lunch combo is the way to go - your choice of two entrees, rice and beans - I was stuffed! The service was great and the server Joel was quick on the spot with drink refills and any other needs. The restaurant was full - of course, it was Mother's Day - the tamale and relleno was delicious. This is definitely a good place to come with large pa or if you're looking for a fiesta vibe! Margaritas are crazy good - they have daily drink specials if you can be tempted to swing by a specific day of the week! I love this little Mexican place. It's right by the house so this is bi-weekly stop. Service is fast, friendly and always up for a a couple of jokes! The food is always hot, and good. I've gotten the same thing over and over because it's that good. They always have specials every day of the week and can accommodate groups if needed. They do change their hours throughout the year so just watch out (that's why I gave 4 stars). I love this place and we will keep coming back! read more

I've been coming here for years, and I'm sad to say that the quality of food has decreased significantly. The last couple of times that I've been here, the food was cold and stale. The most recent time, I didn't eat more than a couple of bites. Portions are huge and I don't think I've ever finished my meal, and the prices are good. The picture on the menu indicating "chefs Acapulco" is NOT the same as the Fajita Acapulco. When I asked the server about the difference, he just pointed out that I was wrong in my order. Problem is that there is no "chefs Acapulco on the menu - so it's just a picture. What's the difference? I missed out on 3 other kinds of protein in exchange for mushrooms I ate NOTHING but the skirt steak and shrimp (they were tasty). Instead of charging me for a "lunch fajitas" based on no rice beans or tortillas, I paid $25 for the wrong meal. Lastly, the Crowd was definitely local and the staff was friendly. I've been a regular customer at the Lebanon location since they opened and recently moved to Fairfield so I thought I'd give this location a try. I ordered fajitas California which has always been my go to. Imagine my surprise when it comes out as unseasoned chicken pieces, canned pineapple rings (not cut up), a chunk of what I can assume is bacon pieces thrown into a fryer, and a whole grilled poblano pepper. On top of all this they put cheese, which wasn't on the menu on the description. I cannot have cheese but tried to eat around it. The chicken was gross and needed seasoning and on top of all that my tortillas were grilled as the method of heating and tasted like grill gunk. I love Acapulco, but I won't be back to this location again. read more

I am definitely NOT the demographic. And the staff are incredibly nice and attentive. But they must put up with a lot, as this is the kind of place where people who hate immigrants go to eat mediocre "Mexican" food. I'd take a hat to wear next time that says "Make Mexican food great again!!" But I might get beaten up by some of the clientele. I do feel for the staff.... Food average mediocre American Mexican at best. Drinks are large and looked like young couples were there on date nights. A good value in that case to be sure. read more

There are so many Mexi-merican restaurants in town, but I definitely prefer Acapulco to the others. The service is always great, the food is good, and they have awesome drink specials every night of the week. Plus the food is nowhere near as oily as some of the other Mexican restaurants. Tonight I tried the Chiles Poblanos with queso dip. The peppers are coated in a scrambled egg-like mixture, which helps add some protein to this vegetarian dish, but it could use some variety in the texture; soft peppers, soft eggs, soft rice and beans... The queso was excellent, though the cheese they use in most of their dishes is a little salty. The drink special on Thursdays is a 27oz lime margarita for less than $7. This is an incredible deal, but the quality of the drink was 2/10 = not worth it. When there are places like Chuy's and Bakersfield in town, who make the best margaritas ever, there is definite room for improvement in this recipe. All in all, this is my preferred Mexican restaurant because of the value for money and the food quality. Also we had a group of 12 show up tonight and they were very accommodating and were able to seat us right away. Would return. read more

Ordered the tacos locos (chicken) which is two tacos and stuffed poblano (a la carte). Had to take the poblano home as I was stuffed! Did not expect the tacos to be a full meal in them selves. Very generous portions. They give you two options for the salsa that comes free with entree. One is spicy and other mild, their salsa is probably one of my favorites. The sangria margarita was delicious. Less tangy then normal margarita but definitely delicious. My husband ordered the burrito California which I didn't taste but my husband enjoyed. Went for dinner on a Wednesday. Parking was ok. Felt that the interior was a bit run down but not horrible. Good immediate greeting. Ordered to go, seafood chimichanga which was average tasting. Ordered grilled shrimp which were really really small and far from cheap. Chips were a bit stale and did not care for the salsa. Overall it was expensive for what I got. I never thought I'd write a review about a dining experience being scary but it literally was. I haven't posted a Yelp review in years, but I had to after the experience my family had at Acapulco. I was excited to take my wife and son there because they had never been and we love Mexican food....I have been there once a couple of years ago and really enjoyed the food. However, it would have been better if we just had decided to go to chipotle..... And I mean better than if you went to chipotle when they had the e-coli infused burritos. I'd rather have a chipotle colon cleanse than the awful experience we had last night. We got to the restaurant and sat down and our waiter was quick to take our order. My wife said we needed a couple of minutes, which is when the hellish experience began. Our waiter gave her a really odd glare and kind of tossed our basket of chips on the table and left. It seemed that he was pissed that either a woman told him no, or he just wanted to get us in and out as quickly as possible. After we ordered they brought my son's meal out way before me and my wife's entrees. Our waiter continued to be less than personable, but we just ignored it and tried to enjoy our meal. I looked at my son's meal and it looked rather gross. He ordered the mini nachos which is nothing more than tortilla chips with a huge spoonful of greasy,flavorless, undercooked beef drowned in cheese. I tried it myself and it was like they just put beef in a skillet with NOTHING else and added extra grease.......Awful My wife and I thought our meals were not terrible but mediocre at best. However, half way through, my son started pulling hairs out of his mouth from his food. My wife then looked at his food and pulled hairs out of the nacho beef. We tried to be positive about it and dismiss it to a fluke accident. With that said, my wife and I immediately stopped eating our food. We thought "why not some fried ice cream".....We ordered fried ice cream for our son and our waiter brought out a tortilla bowl that was filled mostly with whipped cream and a small scoop of vanilla ice cream....... And NOT FRIED! Literally, no crunchy cinnamon topping! And we were charged for fried ice cream. At this point I had it...... Our waiter had been rude the whole time so I decided to confront the manager with the problem. I told him the issues and explained that I would be leaving absolutely no tip as our waiter had an attitude problem......The manager did apologize and took off my son's meal and ice cream from the bill (if they had good customer service it would have been the whole bill) and I went back to our table to finish my margarita. My back was to our waiter and my wife started getting upset. I asked what's going on and she said that our waiter was staring at her. I didn't turn around and she said "No, he's got a major problem".... I turned around and he came towards me with an attitude asking me why I didn't come to him with the problem....... I explained that if he wouldn't of been an asshole the whole time that I might have done so..... He then stopped and started staring at my wife like he was going to hit her, which is when I started getting mad. I told him it's not polite to stare and he kept glaring at my wife anyways...... At this point, a husband would go off on a guy, but with our son there and the guy looking really crazy, I just wanted to get my wife and son out of there. I was worried he was going to hit my wife or that I was going to hit him, so we quickly left. Bottom line....... The kids menu is complete crap, the rest of the food is mediocre, the conditions are not sanitary, the service is non-existent, and they need to do some background checks on their staff. Excellent Mexican restaurant in a somewhat outdated and sketchy strip mall. The interior is nicely decorated, the music is at a perfect volume that allows for conversation, and the staff is always pleasant and on top of things! The food is amazing. The hot salsa is delicious but not too hot. The chips are crunchy and perfect for dipping in salsa, guac (which is amazing), and/or their fantastic cheese sauce. I would recommend the burrito loco which has their grilled steak and chicken as well as grilled veggies. Filled with guacamole and lettuce and topped with cheese sauce, it is more than enough to share! The girls love their bean burritos topped with cheese sauce too! Plus, they serve Coke products! Honestly so good. I always visit with my family and they know us pretty well. They always check in on us every few minutes. Love them. This place has no flaws. They are very sweet people. Always talking to us. They make jokes. One time the waiter handed the bill to my brother and he said next time bring your money. We was all laughing. My boyfriend and I have dined at this Acapulco many, many times over the past year, usually dining in. It was a favorite of ours. The food was 9 times out of 10 delicious and served very quickly. After that, though, there was very little attention from any of the different servers we've had on the different occasions we've dined here. No one would ask to refill your drink, we would have to go to the counter to pay our bill after getting tired of waiting for someone to bring it over once we'd finished our food. Unfortunately, the last time we ate at Acapulco will be the last ever. After the server took our order, no one stopped by to check if we liked our food. Several of us could've used drink refills, but no one stopped to ask if we needed more water or beer. Although it was prime dinner hour there were several servers leaning against the wall for a while. One of the members of our group even tried to flag down a server several times, and the server just stared at them and never came over. After waiting 20 minutes after everyone had finished eating for someone to clear the table, ask if we wanted dessert and bring us the check we finally had to go to the counter to pay. Honestly, after our last experience at this restaurant we won't be going back, or recommending Acapulco to anyone. The food deserves more than 2 stars, but the service deserves none. read more

A friend suggested Alcupulco for margaritas and after glancing at the menu and the super cheap lunch prices I caved and ordered taco salad. Huge disappointment. The runnier the salsa, the more authentically Mexican it is. Acapulco's salsa is sufficiently runny, their food sufficiently authentic. Chips and salsa is always a huge draw for me as a great way to start off my meal. With such generous portions, though, even when doing carry out, this common appetizer could suffice for the main course. It could suffice, but that doesn't mean you should miss out on your favorites. Acapulco's is also a hot spot for Fairfield business lunching, the aforementioned portion sizes making it especially nice for the office staffers who can't get out (as in, they get the leftovers). read more

I hate having to write this as this was one of our favorite Mexican restaurants. Took forever to be seated. Four people (2 adults & 2 teens) in our group but we're given only two menus. My stepson ordered a Sprite was given lemonade. Waiter seemed put off to be working. Two meals were brought out together, then another several minutes later & lastly the fourth meal was brought out after we were finished eating the first two meals. Slopping plating & food was pretty much thrown down. The first two meals brought out were hot & cooked properly but the other two, which were burritos, were terrible. Over cooked meat -burnt chorizo, tough chicken and steak. So very sad as this used to be our "go to" for Mexican. Perhaps they were having a bad night but tough to go back when paying $60 for really bad food. read more
