We were finishing up a walk with the kids by the Arboretum and were super hungry. We decided to try Acapulco as we'd driven by a few times. OMG. We used to live in Southern California and it's been 4 years since we've eaten delicious authentic Mexican food. First, let's talk about the tacos. The tortillas were perfect, the chicken lightly grilled with the right mix of onions, cilantro and lime. My son was clapping with his hands overhead in between bites. My Burrito California was so good and btw, when they say "and fries" - they mean the fries are IN the danged burrito. It was like finding tasty surprises in every fold of my burrito. The refried beans and rice? Perfection. My daughter couldn't get enough. The chips? Crunchy and savory. They give you all the sauces you need. My husband is half Mexican and didn't say a word while eating because it was so good. Thank your lucky stars if you live close enough to Acapulco to eat there. It's the real thing. read more

This is our go to spot for takeout on Saturday. We love the sopes and always order that along with the tacos. The salsa they provide is delish (love the green one). Always nice upon pickup. I came here with my cousins and had a horrible experience. Not once did they come check up on us to make sure we were okay. It all started off bad when they took about 40 minutes to just bring out MY BURRITO!! I had to keep asking and looking back at them so they can bring my food, while my cousin ordered an actual dish and it came at a reasonable time. They also took forever to bring out chips and salsa. At that rate I thought they were just going to bring it with our food. The next problem was that my cousin ordered a quesadilla and on the menu that was GIVEN to us, says it comes with tomatoes. My cousin then was charged for the tomatoes because apparently quesadillas don't come with them. When we told the worker that it says it on the menu, she gave us attitude and said we should have scanned the QR code for the menus online. Why would we have to do that when the menus were on the table when we got there. In that case don't put out menus in the first place and when we sit down say to scan the QR code. However, we looked at the menu online and it says it there TOO that tomatoes come with the dish. Then my cousins ordered margaritas and on the menus given to us at the store it said for Happy Hour $2 off. When we got the bill, the margaritas were charged full price. Then again we told them that on the MENU GIVEN TO US, it says $2 off. They said they don't do Happy Hour anymore due to COVID. Okay well your menu still says it and you didn't care to update it however they refused to change the price. The waitress said we should have used the online menu since it's the one most up to date. But as you can see in the picture, the margaritas page says $2 OFF for Happy Hour. All in all they had terrible service and workers. Amazing food! Travel a lot and have been to many Mexican restaurants. This is as close or equal in taste to the famous El Charro restaurant in Tuscon, Arizona. Amazing taste and worth the visit every time I am in town for work. Everything is fresh and made at the restaurant including the simple chips which are amazing. Go! You'll love it! Absolutely my favorite Mexican restaurant in NJ. Food is always fresh, staff is always friendly, and it is family owned by entrepreneurs who truly take pride in what they do. I love the tacos (prefer the spicy chicken, pork pastor, and chorizo, and my wife sticks with grilled chicken tostadas. If there are a few of you, go with La Tabla- amazing. I have been going there for years and I think I've tried everything on the menu and never had a bad meal. Get the guac & chips with a side of verde salsa. Food can be spicy so if you order spicy, expect spicy. The eat-in restaurant makes great margaritas to compliment the amazing food. Can't beat the price for what you get. I never leave reviews, but the food was so bad. My husband got a steak fajita that was just a ton of oily ground beef on a skillet. I got chicken tinga tacos and the dish had a really sour, rancid BBQ sauce flavor. The service was unfriendly and slow. The best part of the meal were the three slices of cucumber that came with my tacos. It was some of the worst food I've ever eaten, and it wasn't even cheap. read more

This was my 4th time here. Each time I kept giving it another chance thinking it would improve. The waitress with the dark hair and excessive eye makeup had an attitude. Told us to hurry up and order because she was busy. We ordered a pitcher of margarita and it tasted like only juice. They have the nerve to automatically charge 18% service charge and then on the receipt still ask for a tip: that service charge is the tip but what if I didn't want to leave 18% because the service and attitude was horrible? The shrimp was bland, the rice was hard. My food didn't come out with beans and I know it was supposed to. The waitress told us "oh I can bring you an order of beans but we charge extra" I said but it's supposed to come with the meal. I had to show her the menu and then she went to the kitchen to "ask" and came back with the beans. Never again. The place gets packed but it's probably because it's the only local Mexican restaurant that serves alcohol. read more

Their mole is quite spicy (which I love) but the spice was seemed a distraction from the lack of depth of flavor. Hubby tried a torta (sandwich) but ended up eating only some of the components. This is one of my favorite places ever, I have gone here numerous times. I have made parties here and the owner gives amazing prices as buffet style really enjoyed it. The salsa verde in the enchiladas was nice but unfortunately everything else was very dry and very bland. Appeared to rely heavily on frozen mix / canned foods heated up with virtually no additional seasoning or prep. It took a long time for our small simple order to be prepared, but we did order during dinner on a Sunday so I guess they are just slow during peak hours. Very nice place to to enjoy SOLID Mexican fare. It is slow, but when you're talking about quality, it's a great place for lunch or dinner. Portions are right sized, and the price isn't out of line. Went there about 8pm on a Monday night. It seems like the choices for casual Mexican in the Bridgewater area are very slim. When I entered, there was a large group having some kind of celebration in the corner. The mexican music was blaring and several of the males in the group were singing at full volume. I noticed several empty beer bottles on the table. If I wasn't starving and more familiar with the area, I'd have left. But I decided to stay and asked for the furthest table away from them. The menu is very authentic, with a full range of choices from standard street tacos to traditional platters. They brought out a basket of chips along with a 3 salsa sampler - the pico was the best of the 3 and I wish they'd have brought more of it instead of the trio. I ordered the mole chicken enchiladas which arrived promptly. The dish came with a heaping portion of mexican rice and refried beans. The enchiladas themselves were smothered in mole along with a ribbon of sour cream. Very tasty and stuffed with chicken. I couldn't finish all three. I give Acapulco 3 stars for tasty food, great service, and an okay atmosphere. If not for the obnoxious party, I might give them 4 stars. read more

I had a mediocre experience last time (a couple of years ago) but I'm happy to upgrade my rating. Our sopes w. chorizo appetizers were outstanding (tasty, hot & fresh). My pollo relleno was incredible and my wife's Spicy Chicken (Tinga) was flavorful & plentiful. We both finished things with a nice flan desert. We did not partake of alcoholic beverages this evening so I can't say whether or not the bar drinks improved, but the friendly service as well as the authenticity, quality & quantity of the food were appreciated. read more

I found this restaurant on yelp and decided to give it a try as I had never heard of it before. Needless to say they have two rooms, one is a restaurant bar and the other is basically where they cook the food and a couple small seats. The place and the bar was very clean I had chicken fajitas and they were excellent. the waitress was very friendly and everything was clean and neat .I highly recommend this place. The two stars is mostly due to the poor service that myself and date experienced on a Saturday night in this small storefront Mexican restaurant that I went out of my way to try after reading mostly positive reviews on Yelp. By my perception we were the only non Latinos who were in the place. The servers were young women who seemed more attuned to doing just about anything else than attending to us and efforts to get there attention were often met with looking the other way. We were never offered water to start, had about a 10-15 minute wait for our drinks, a guacamole appetizer came after the arrival of our entrees, they never checked in to see if we needed anything. By all measures,woeful service. Fresh made Tortilla chips starters were too chewy and hard, when the guacamole finally arrived it was better than your average. The late arriving drinks were generous in size and enjoyable but with minimal alcohol. We split entrees, a chipotle shrimp and skirt steak with chorizo and cheese sauce, both ample portions and overall we found the quality to be good although the steak was more chewy than I hoped and the accompanying beans bland. The shrimp dish was the high point as it was cooked just right with well balanced, flavorful seasoning. Without the indifferent service this place gets 3 stars. It's a pretty authentic Mexican eat out, but strangely we kept asking for hot sauce for every dish to spice up our meals, but weren't given any on the side. Overall everything was very bland. This was the worst experience you can imagine. We placed an order by phone and went to pick it up. The order was completely screwed up. Instead of apologizing and correcting it, they insulted us. In addition, although they had masks they were for the most part either pulled down below their noses or not on. When asked to put them on, they again insulted us. We ended up canceling our order. Passing through the area and selected this place based on the ratings...but it's average at best. They serve three types of salsas with the chips which are good but all have a kick. The mildest was the salsa verde which the waitress didn't know what type when we asked her. We had shrimp fajitas, beef fajitas, and carnitas tacos. It was all very average. The rice and beans served with the fajitas was pretty flavorless. I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to return since have found much better Mexican food...but maybe this is the best one in the area and reviewers don't have much else to compare it too. read more

I am such a picky eater when it comes to Mexican food so I'm always weary when I try new places. I can not believe how happy I am that we finally tried this place and so close to home. I got 4 tacos (Al Pastor, chorizo, asada and camaron) they all come on a sweet corn tortilla with cilantro and onions. They are completely authentic and full of flavor. Al Pastor and chorizo are my favorite ones. My husband had a carne asada burrito and he was blown away at how delicious it is. The guacamole is completely fresh and has a little kick to it. By far some of the best guacamole we've had even when I lived in Mexico. Their green salsa (salsa verde) has just the right amount of spiciness as to not take the flavor of the chilis away. A solid choice for food in an area where good restaurants seem to be sparse. The tacos here are well worth the trip, and I highly recommend trying both the lengua and the al pastor tacos. The carne is a bit dry and leaves me wishing I had gotten another al pastor taco instead. I really enjoyed this restaurant! The food is wonderful and the drinks were also great. I had the mixed fajitas and they were super - took some leftovers home with me. The other couple we were with had burritos and felt the food was home made and fresh. The waitress was lovely - not too pushy but never too far away if we needed her. There is a bar near the front door and on the way out I felt a little out of place - like walking through somebody's local bar and they would rather you weren't there. Family-run authentic Mexican cuisine. The food is always fresh and the family is very welcoming. They make their horchata with evaporated milk instead of condensed milk, which while not as sweet, allows you to appreciate the flavor of the ingredients in the drink. The place is always clean inside, they have 2 flatscreens usually playing the Spanish channel - great place for a homestyle meal. I found this place after being introduced to authentic Mexican cuisine in Texas and developed a weekly craving for fresh, non-Americanized/fast food Mexican. This is the only place I trust in the area to satisfy my cravings and meet my high standards. They also double as a pizzeria! My go-to is a grilled beef burrito, beef nachos, and a large horchata. This was a nice surprise! I've passed by this place hundreds of times and never thought to go in. We wanted to go to a Mexican restaurant so used Yelp to find info on the one we were interested in going. We found that Acapulco had much higher reviews than the one we wanted and they were flexible for a reservation. Well, we will be going back. The food was excellent.
