I think it's rare that you go to a sit down Mexican place and they charge you for chips and salsa. Ordered fajitas, the smallest pieces of chicken and steak - almost looked like dog food. It's not strips of meat. It's drowning in sauce. Fajitas come topped with cheese, If you ask for cheese on the side, they charge you $2. Really disappointed in this place,. Came back to increase the stars. Been here a couple times now and I've found some items I really like. Chicken tinga is great and so is the al pastor. Favorite dishes are the sopes or tacos. They're good. Quick service. I ordered my favourite, Tostadas, and it was good. The only thing I was bummed about is the fact that they don't offer the option to make meals spicy, even when you ask they decline. They do offer and alternative, which is their spicy sauce, but it isn't hot enough. Oh, and if you don't speak Spanish, there for the first time, aren't familiar with certain menu options, and you ask for help to translate, get someone who is patient to do so. I am giving Acapulco a low rating not because of the food. The food here is generally quite good. But takeout Mexican food doesn't do it for us. So we decided to eat in tonight. We called before going to make sure it was possible. We were seated near a big party which was DEFINITELY less than 6 feet away from our table. For the hour and a half we were there that group was loud, never had a mask on any of them, and a few of them proceeded to walk around the place with no masks on. That is simply not acceptable at this time. So we shall not be back for a long time. I complained to the waitress and she said oh we tried. No they didn't, not at all. At no time did they tell these people to put their masks on when they were moving about. We tried to get out as quickly as possible but they were extra slow tonight. Solid Mexican spot in the Bridgewater area. The restaurant is tiny and located in a small strip with 2 or 3 other stores/restaurants with a small parking lot. The service was excellent - the lady who either owned the restaurant or running it was very nice and asked if we had any questions regarding the menu. There's a good variety of latino sodas along with desserts by the front counter and close to 5 tables or so to dine. There was a party of 6 that arrived after us and the lady was nice enough to put some tables together for the party. I tried the burrito which was delicious - I wouldn't say it was the best burrito I have ever had, but it was solid and I would go there again for it. My coworker had the chicken mole, which was served with rice and beans, and the mole sauce was quite good as well. When dining in, they bring chips and salsa to the table. The salsa verde (green salsa) was delicious! Flavorful and spicy! I will definitely be returning again for lunch but might try something different on their menu. read more

Guacamole is PERFECT. Originally I was thinking about going to chipotle today because I was starving and looking for a cheap and quick option! But thought I'd try this hidden gem. I walked in and was immediately greeted by a young man who I asked for food suggestions because it was my first time. He recommended the sopas and guacamole which I went with. Right when I finished ordering a waitress brought me a huge basket of chips and three types of salsa all of which were amazing. When I tried the guac I was in heaven - I always struggle with chipotle's guac that's a little too smooth and without enough lime and jalapeño but this was better than when I make it to my own preference. Perfect amount of chunkiness, spiciness and tang. For sopas I went with al pastor, pollo and tinga all of which were amazing and loaded with meat. I typically don't like a soft corn base but this was thick and substantial with a smooth layer of beans on it. I love Mexican food and this place is definitely authentic. Last night my boyfriend and I wanted to try food around the bridgewater area. I looked up restaurants and stumbled upon Acapulco. Its located in Raritan, but only a few minutes from the bridgewater mall. The reviews are pretty high and the food looked amazing, so we decided to eat there. The restaurant feels very authentic with its decorations! I ordered tostadas (came in 3's) and was able to choose different meats for each tostada. I had spicy chicken, marinated pork and the bistec with a side of rice and beans. I probably shouldn't have ordered the rice and beans bc I got pretty full from the tostadas alone but the sides were super yummy. I also tried the hibiscus water which was refreshing! Looking forward to horchata next time (they ran out!) Overall, it was affordable and delicious! I'd definitely recommend it to anyone in the area. The dining room is brightly decorated and clean with friendly, welcoming and attentive service. We had chorizo tostadas and beef tacos, both legit Mexican cooking and delicious. I will start off this review that I have ate at this place a few times before and have NEVER had a problem with the waitresses and the place in general. Up until today, and I will never return to place ever again. The waiter today was named Ruben according to my receipt. For some odd reason I was charged an extra $15 dollar drink that I only ordered one of. I asked the waiter to take it off of my check. He did. Came with the new receipt and handed him my card. I got the check back for signature and my card and I just signed. As I was leaving the place and on my way to my car, I was tracked down because my waiter charged the incorrect tab. Again, I didn't notice. The owner not once apologized for their inconvenience and instead $111.87 I am out until my bank releases the money back to me. Aside from that, the place is completely and totally overpriced to get mediocre Mexican food. Cocktails aren't what they are said to be. I've been looking for an authentic street taco spot in my area for years, and I'm so happy to say my search is over. The marinated pork taco (al pastor) rivaled ones I've had in San Diego. The Campechanos tacos (chorizo and steak) were also phenomenal. The sauces they give are packed with flavor. The red sauce was a little spicy, and the Verde was super tasty. We also had the quesadilla which comes flauta style with sour cream and lettuce on top, which was absolutely delicious. I can't recommend this spot more. read more

I hate having to leave a review like this, but this is based solely on service alone as we didn't get to eat the food here. My husband called to place an order for pickup- an order of tostadas and an order of tacos with some sides of rice and beans. We asked to mixed the types of meats with each order- the person on the phone definitely seemed a bit confused and asked my husband to repeat himself multiple times, but by the end of it he said it would be about 35 minutes for our order. We got there and were told that our food wasn't ready and hadn't even started to be made, and that they couldn't make our orders the way that we had asked for over the phone. I really wish they would've had the sense to tell us that over the phone when we placed the order, instead of making us think that the food would be made and ready to pick up. Luckily we don't live too far, but what if we were driving out of our way for this just to get there and be told it wasn't being made? They really should've clarified what they could or couldn't do, or told us that they didn't understand, when we placed the order. I'm super disappointed. After reading the reviews, we decided to give this place a try for lunch before head on to Bridgewater Mall. We arrived and were immediately seated. Daughter had the Camarones Con Rajas, which was shrimp with roasted chile and scallions. It also came along with rice and beans. She thought the shrimp was delicious but felt that the roasted scallions were a little stringy. Hubs had the Tripe Taco and Beef Tongue Taco. He thought everything was pretty good. I felt the tripe tasted a little gamey but Hubs liked it because of the gaminess. There were plenty of cilantro and onions and he liked that. Finally, I had the Chilaquiles Verdes, which were chips topped with green sauce, onions & cheese with eggs. I ordered the eggs over easy. It was delicious! Best carne asada tacos I've had in the area so far, I got 4 and put their reddish orange hot sauce which has a nice little heat and good flavor and it was amazing! Sunset Park is also 35% Mexican and has some of the top NY Times rated authentic Mexican spots in NYC. Acapulco would fit right into that nabe. So disappointed. I wanted for this to be an amazing place and it just wasn't. We were able to call ahead and get a table which was great! We were accommodated quickly- waitress was really nice. We were served chips and a black bean dipping sauce? Taquitos- the tortilla was again so hard that I felt like my teeth were going to break (almost like they had been fried and left out). The chicken on the inside was basically boiled and unseasoned. I think 7 eleven has better taquitos. The chorizo fundido was actually good! We put it over the fries and it improved the fries. Next course was the steak fajitas and my tacos (spicy chicken and al pastor). My tacos were authentic - the al pastor was good. The Fajitas were terrible- the steak was cut up into little tiny pieces and was flavorless. I had two drinks - they were on point. Huge and well priced. Stopped here on the way home from relatives in Pennsylvania. Easy access as it's right off of 202. The outside can be a bit deceiving, but it's a nice bar/restaurant atmosphere once inside. The staff was friendly and accommodating, The food was excellent. Started with the nachos grande. All the ingredients were as fresh as can be. Portions are good. The pickled jalapeños on top of the nachos were absolutely delicious. For the entree I had the burrito with mole sauce. Fantastic, with just the right amount of spice. Awesome, just simply awesome. Quaint restaurant in a strip mall, seated right away, service was attentive, and food authentic and so good. They brought out chips and a trio of fresh salsa right away. We got the "la table" which came with a full cutting board of meat (chicken, pork, steak) plus peppers, onions, fresh guacamole and pico de gallo. Highly recommended! We will definitely go again! Pleasantly surprised on my first visit here. It's far from fancy, as you enter through a take out pizzeria type entrance. Of course, what matters is the food. And there they are strong. First off, my margarita on the rocks was quite solid and a good size too. Chips came out right away and we're just ok. But once we ordered the guac, I didn't mind the slightly bland chips. The guacamole was fresh and flavorful with just the right amount of heat. I saw a previous reviewer say it was not fresh. I beg to differ. Beef enchiladas with green sauce were tasty...and spicy.
