am writing this review because I am deeply concerned about this shops management approach to how they handle their business and the mistreatment of their own employees. My husband, a former employee, was let go for trying to hold the management accountable for their mistakes that they blamed him for daily! I've heard numerous accounts when the management deflected their own shortcomings and frustration out onto their own employees, and undervaluing their contributions. Stealing their customers money by not doing the work they payed for and hide it behind a warranty if it was fixed properly the first time they wouldn't have to hang on tight to the only thing that they do have is their warranty! Their warranty is more like a guarantee, Guarantee your car will not leave their shop the same way it came in, and a guaranteed to see your car over and over again! But it's under "warranty" and their guarantee to see you again! It's time for a change in leadership and the way they treat their employees and customers and change in a way that can "guarantee" the management to foster the culture and put on a pair ()() and have "accountability" and have respect and better communication between employees customers, and the management. Until then there's no hope for this business thrive... and stop hustling people out of their own hard working money! read more

I'd give zero stars if I could. Took my Subaru to a local shop in Wimberle. Without my knowledge they took it here for a new transmission. I would not have taken my car here just by reading the number of bad reviews. Get cat back, transmission making thumping noise. Call local shop, they are closed. Call Access because it has a 2 year warranty and the idiot hangs up on me and then won't answer my calls. The following Monday the local shop tows my vehicle back to this place and a bolt holding the torque converter in has came out... very specific torque specs but apparently not here. I pick the car up today and I quote from my local shops text as I was going on vacation next week: Don't take it on any out of town trips for "awhile", if it breaks down we don't cover it??? Why the hell take my family car here then if you don't trust their abilities??? read more

I had heard a lot of good things about this place. so, I decided to take my 2003 Lexus GX 470 in for transmission work. My car had stopped engaging in drive and had to tow it to Access for repairs. I don't know much about transmissions. But, my rear main seal was leaking a very small amount of oil. This was noticed by my mechanic. I did not know what was needed to fix the problem. I later found out that the transmission would have to be removed to fix the leak. Access repaired my transmission. But, never mentioned the leak. When I asked them about it they replied by saying they do not repair rear main seals because they are not mechanics. They only fix transmission's. My frustration is that the transmission is already removed and the repair is less than $200 to fix it at this time. Why don't they tell you what is going to happen and how much more it will cost for repair? The transmission work was $3060.00. The repair for the rear main seal after the work done was estimated at $1,600 since the transmission would have to be removed. So, if you are getting your transmission worked on you might pick a shop that will replace the seal too. Might as well do it while the transmission is off the vehicle. Finally, they didn't put back my skid plate to protect my undercarriage. I was told to get one and bring back the receipt. When I told them the cost, they refused to pay for it. I was told they would only pay $100. They wanted me to look for one on eBay or a junkyard. I mentioned it wasn't up to me to look for one. They said they weren't paying and gave me their Farmers Insurance Company information so I could deal with them. I called several times and they never returned my calls. My experience will cost me $3060 trans repair $1600 drop transmission again to replace seal $700 skid plate $5360 total FYI. Transmission still not 100%. Will need to take back. read more

NOT A GREAT EXPERIENCE! Took my car there to get it repaired and instead of taking 2 days as promised to get it fixed it took 5 days. To make matters worse, not only was the "out the door price" quoted over the phone higher, it ended up being 4 percent increase due to paying via a credit card that was not disclosed to me until I went to pay the bill. Who walks around with $500 in their wallet? Lastly, I strongly recommend that as a general rule (and not pertaining to access transmission in any way shape or form) that all personal items be removed from your vehicle when leaving your vehicle at an automotive repair shop. Pursuant to Yelp guidelines, I'm just stating the facts in this review. You can draw you own conclusion. Back in July I had my F-150 serviced at my Ford dealership. Aside a 21 point inspection, a battery replacement was recommended and installed. Fast forward to November, I observed a jerking of the vehicle when into a one hour drive. I took the vehicle back to Ford. Ford recommended a transmission repair or replacement. An oil leak was also identified while there was no indication of an oil leak prior. My home as well as our community is gated. I have a private driveway and keep my vehicle in and out of my garage. No oil leak or issues have ever been identified on the concrete or in the garage. I requested a second opinion of Access Transmission as they came recommended by a local auto repair shop in my area. Access Transmission could not identity any issues with the transmission or oil leak claiming to have test driven it well over an hour during the course of a week. That said, I picked up my vehicle from Access Transmission and within a week my battery required two jumps to get it running. When I took the vehicle into Ford, believing the issue was with the battery I purchased from them, they claim the battery wasn't the new battery replaced by them back in July and asked if anyone else has had possession of the vehicle. I cited only one. My vehicle has not been serviced by anyone in between Ford (transmission check) and Access Transmission (transmission check) and is always locked and alarmed. they will set you up and make you bring back your car for repairs that they intentionally installed wrong they rebuilt my transmission and left all the bolts loos, cables for the transmission shifter purposely left loose transmission oil drain plug was left loose ready to fall I ended up breaking down in my driveway they are dishonest and crooks and very wicked will take your money and purposely let you break down and charge you for towing and making repairs that they made don't go there please don't go there read more

I contacted Access Transmission and spoke with Darin Jr. I explained that I had a 700 r4 transmission that I was wanting to build in conjunction with my 450 hp engine for my truck. Darin Jr. Assured me that he has worked on many 700r4 transmissions and that would not be a problem He quoted me a price of $2,000- $2,500 which included the torque converter with HIGH PERFORMANCE PARTS. When I arrived at the shop, no paperwork was filled out or invoice given to me. After a week the job was completed and the total bill was $2,300 - still no receipt was given Just an invoice. The owner stated he was unable to provide an itemized receipt for the work because his software was not setup that way. After installing the tranny in my truck, I found it slipping in 3rd gear and not going into 4th gear. After contacting the shop I brought my truck to Access Transmission to fix the problem. After a week I returned to pick it up and found it still slipping and not operating as it should. The owner, Darin Sr, stated it was my torque converter causing the issues not the transmission. Darin Sr. Got upset and went back into his office (great customer service). After Darin Sr. and his son discussed this for a moment, they angrily agreed to fix the problem. (Again, great customer service). The next day they called and said it was the battery causing the problem. I was skeptical, at the least, at this analysis since this transmission is mechanical not electronic. At this point, the owner said he was tired of working on my truck and to come and pick it up. I had no choice, but to trailer it back to my home shop. There I found the lock-up solenoid had been wired incorrectly and that they had also lost my factory emergency brake cable connector. Frustrated, I had to bring the transmission to another shop to be fixed correctly. The tech, at the new shop discovered the the HIGH PERFORMANCE PARTS that I requested and payed for were not installed by Access Transmission. They only installed standard clutch's and none of the other 5 parts I requested as well, when I payed for high performance parts! After finding this out, I contacted Darin Jr. once again. I had a terrible experience with this mechanic who claimed to have fixed my car's transmission. I was promised that the car would be fixed within a specific timeframe, but the mechanic took longer than promised. The car was finally fixed on the last day and a half and was delivered to me dirty both inside and out. The mechanic offered me a $100 discount if I paid cash, but he did not provide a receipt for my payment, only an invoice that lacked any details about the cost of labor and parts. I was originally quoted a price range of $2500 to $3000, but when I picked up the car, the mechanic ask for $2995 if I not preferred a CASH payment , which seemed suspicious.To make matters worse, the car began leaking and making noises when I started driving it again, this is after his assured me that he test drive it and make sure everything is ok and he claimed that my only issue is the transmission and nothing else . The entrance to the shop was not paved, and there was a lot of mud and dirt around, which made the whole experience feel unprofessional. I don't appreciate being lied to and given false promises. I hope this review serves as a warning to others who are considering using this mechanic's services. this is only a description about my experience and nothing personal I would advise this mechanic to take business and management classes to better assist his clients and stay away from false statement and try to be honest. read more

I dropped off my vintage Nissan Patrol there this summer after towing in from NW Colorado to this recommended shop. I waited two months until they had an "opening". I was told it would take approximately a week. I supplied all the parts required. Once I dropped it off two months past with no progress. They claimed they were having trouble putting the transfer case and PTO back together. After I complained to the "feeder' shop that sent me there, Lester's Automotive in Boerne, they slapped it together after another two weeks. I picked it up and it shifted poorly. They told me to drive it more and then make a judgement. I loaded in my trailer, drove it about 50 miles with sticky gears and metallic noises. Weeks later it started leaking from several seals. Needless to say I am now having a qualified mechanic re-assemble it. Yes, metal shavings were found in the drained gear oil. They have caller ID. When I tried to call they would not pick up. I caught these crooks using my vehicle as their own personal shop truck. After weeks of waiting for a diagnostic my father caught them using my vehicle to go do personal grocery shopping at HEB. When I tried to confront the owner over the matter I was told to leave while he ran and hid in his office. I see them working on a lot usps vehicles there. I got my car back from a transmission rebuild and the car still had the same problems. Took it back and they had it for several days and when I got it back it still had the same problems. Took it back one more time and they had my car over a month. They finally replaced the transmission computer but when I picked the car up there was silver PAINT on the car roof and trunk lid. I called and the shop would not do anything about it. Think twice before coming here. read more

The father and son team who run this shop are great! My car was having major issues, and I was going to need a rental. I was in the lobby on the phone with enterprise holding my daughter's car seat and diaper bag along with my work bag when they told me they wouldn't be able to pick me up for another two hours. The owner offered to give me a ride to enterprise so that I wouldn't have to wait that long. What a nice gesture! They kept me updated on my car, and then in the end it was not a transmission issue. They ran diagnostics on my car for two days, and didn't charge me a single penny. They also didn't try to sell me something that I didn't need. I'm not quite sure where to start with this but let me just start by saying this is the absolute worst run company that I have ever dealt with in my entire life. I sent my truck in the first time and it was in the shop for over a month due to a transmission issue which was fine, I understood that they were busy. When they finally contacted me to come pick up my truck, in a couple days I went and picked it up. As soon as I got home I realized that my entire tailgate have been busted as well as the tail light. I called them as soon as I realized the issue and the manager tried to tell me it wasn't his crew. I wasn't exactly worried about what he thought because I had a video camera at the front of my gate which showed me returning home with a busted tailgate that had never been there before. After making the manager talk to me regarding this issue I told him I would be returning with my truck and if it wasn't fixed I would have my attorney contact them. It took only one month for my transmission to be screwed up once again so I took my truck back in. We were told it would be ready that week it's been six weeks since I've had my vehicle. I have called them numerous times only to deal with an incompetent rude manager Who always refuses to let me speak with the owner. I recently started a job three weeks ago and had to use my boyfriends vehicle to make it to work. Not once did this company offer to let me have a rental car due to them taking so long to fix this issue once again. My boyfriend (obviously) had to take his truck back for his own personal needs, So today I had to call in at 5:30 this morning to tell them I would not make it to work. As I'm sitting here at my house unable to get to work due to their unorganized rude employees I am emailing my attorney as we speak due to loss of wages. In the meantime I advise anyone in the San Antonio area to refrain from using this "business" if that's what you want to call it. And if the owner happens to see these reviews (which I will make sure to copy and paste on every social media and review page I can find, as I do have more than enough time today since I couldn't make it to work), I would greatly appreciate if you would be PROFESSIONAL and return my call, otherwise you should be hearing from my attorney shortly. read more

I had a warranty issue where they had to re do one and the re built it again no questions asked. I have recommended many clients and friends to them and I have gotten a good report each time. I took my car in and the store manager Darrin said he would evaluate my car for free , so I had it towed in. Once I got in there, he wanted to charge me 500.00 to evaluate my car. So, I had to pay to get my car towed again back to my house. Since my car was there due to a problem from another shop that needed evaluation he promised to write a letter for me. When he wrote the letter it was incomplete and absolutely no value to me in my case with the other shop. His father, the owner, was no help either. Just telling me where I can go to get the work done myself. They took forever in looking at my car even though nothing was ever done. So, the other shop said they weren't going to pay for work since Darrin and the shop never did anything to evaluate the car. It was a big waste of time. And, I don't appreciate paying 100.00 to get my car towed there and back and nothing was done except waste 2 -3 weeks of my life. read more
