They explicitly gave me a flat price of $499 for a display replacement. Based entirely on that number, I took the time out of my day to drive down, drop off my machine, and pay a non-refundable $30 diagnostic fee. However, once they had my laptop completely disassembled on their workbench, the price suddenly jumped by $100 to a new quote of $599. When I questioned why the price changed from their written quote, they claimed that the initial $499 price was actually only for a "B-Grade" used screen with scuffs and scratches on the outer casing. If I wanted a normal-looking, flawless screen ("A-Grade"), I had to pay the higher premium. They had my exact model number from the very first text. Withholding information about different "grades" of used parts until a customer's laptop is already taken apart in your shop is a highly deceptive business practice. Had they been transparent upfront that a standard screen replacement would cost $599, I would have opted to go to the Apple Store instead of wasting my time and money here. I paid the $30 fee just to get my laptop put back together and returned to me. Go to Apple or a more transparent shop that honors their initial quotes.

I had a 11 year old LG Plasma TV whose screen went blank one day. It had been working fine and then…read moresuddenly the screen went black and it would try to turn on but would ultimately show a blank screen then power off. Since there had been no degradation of the display quality over time I had figured that repair would be possible without having to replace the display or even the entire TV. I called a half dozen other repair shops and all refused to even look at my TV since it was a plasma tv. I understand that plasma type displays are now considered outdated and replaced by LCD and OLED but I was discouaraged that most repair shops wouldn't even bother looking at my TV. Enter Frank and his mobile service to the rescue! He told me upfront that there would be a non refundable $75 diagnostic fee. If it was deemed repairable and parts were available that would go towards the final repair. A very resonable cost since even the cheapest TV's nowadays range from a few hundred dollars to well over $1000. In the end it was a simple fix...it the PSU had some degraded soldering and Frank was able to resolder them and tested the screen to success within an hour. It was truly a great win since I saved a bunch of money (repairs with labor cost $150 in the end) from buying a new screen, diverted e waste from the landfill and was able to keep money into the local economy by giving Frank the chance to fix something completely repairable. Took my custom build in after a lot of troubleshooting on my own to find out why it wouldn't POST…read more They misdiagnosed my PC's problems, telling me it would've been a $400 CPU replacement, when the actual issue was a faulty motherboard that only cost $80 to resolve on my own. They told me this without actually pulling out my CPU to test it, and claimed that I damaged it by installing my cooler wrong, and there was only a 50/50 chance my processor was still working - I don't know how they could've possibly known that without actually touching the processor at all. When they returned my computer, it was missing the card rail clip, the velcro straps that I use to manage my cables, and the front panel header had been unplugged and rewired incorrectly. This store made an already incredibly stressful situation twice as stressful and last twice as long by giving me wrong information and leaving my computer in a worse state than they received it in.
