As a young woman I've been taught to have my guard up and say "no" to repairs until getting a second opinion, but I never have to worry about that with Matt's. I typically drop off the car with vague issues (e.g. "weird clicking sound" or "veering right") then within a couple hours get a call from a friendly person with the details of their findings and associated costs. For $$ reasons I always ask which of the repairs are most urgent for my safety, and I've never felt pressured to get anything done that didn't need it. Continued excellent care given to my 20 yr. old Civic - just had her first service since back in SEA and I'd noted a big drop in fuel economy over my last three fill-ups. The guys hooked the engine up to the computer and noted everything still running excellently, then took the car for a spin/ test ride - no issues noted. Essentially? We concluded the change in the weather/ driving patterns, new winter fuel mix from the gas stations, etc. was likely causing the change in fuel economy; point being these guys take their customer's concerns seriously and do check all possible reasons something might be amiss. I brought my car in to do a front wheel baring replacement. They did an inspection before they worked on the car. Should have been $600 They found the front and rear wheel barring to be replaced. They never sent me a written estimate which by law they are required to send. Now $1200 They then said it was going to take longer then expected. So now day two. They took all day to repair then told me they had more hours then expected and then they charged me for 2 hours extra. Then called the rest a wash. Now at $1500 Then right before their closing they called me to tell it was ready for pick up. Yet they had the emergancy break just fell apart on them and it was $300 to replace. This place is a flim flim scam it was $1800 to get my car returned. Their inspection didn't find the brakes which are pulsing do to a sensor issue. Or the broken moon roof slider. So what good was their inspection on this vehicle. I do not recommend using this place. I tried to talk with them they were super unreasonable. read more

Was told they are good and reasonably priced. People are nice and friendly, but the price is not. They don't do multiple-point inspections with the oil changes so that's an extra $80 bucks to check your car. They also gave me a quote for a transmission fluid change of a bit below $300, where the dealership charges $150. When a place charges double what the dealership is charging, you know how expensive they are. Would not recommend them nor use them again. read more

I don't trust many people with my 1986 Toyota 4Runner (she's pushing 225K, and I hope to keep her going as long as I do), but I trust the folks at Matt's. I stay on top of maintenance issues, as I drive across the country several times each year, in addition to mountain/desert/tundra/forest expeditions now and again, and Matt's is my go-to West Coast shop (she's a bicoastal truck, so she has bicoastal care). They've always been thorough and I especially appreciate how they prioritize the work needed, basically triaging any current problems so that I have a clear sense of what needs done now and what can wait. They've also caught mistakes made by other shops (a faulty windshield installation that was unsafe and also turning the passenger seatwell into a puddle). They may not be the cheapest shop, but the work speaks for itself...I'll save up a bit and take quality and integrity over cost any day if it means I get to keep truckin. read more

They're pretty busy because of COVID and I had to make an appointment 2 weeks in advance so I recommend scheduling a bit earlier if you're pushing time on your oil change. Always skeptical about going to new mechanics in new cities but I told them to let me know anything I needed changed or that might need adjustments, knowing full well my last oil change I got a full tune up from my old friend's mechanic shop back home and I wouldn't need anything done. The answer... "Everything looks great, other than some foggy headlights!" Love love love honest mechanics, and I feel bad for testing them unknowingly, but I hope this great review makes it better! This subtle problem would have cost me over 4000 dollars if I had not taken it to Matt's for another opinion. Matt's was able to verify the problem, then tell me the exact wording I needed to use to get the dealership to "recognize" the issue and set in motion the 100% covered warranty work. Matt's made zero money off this expensive job (as they knew it would have to be performed at the dealership.) We have been customers since we moved to the area in 1997. The air completely stopped working in my car right as it was starting to get snowy! I spent awhile trying to figure it out myself but was hopeless. They managed to fix it in one day! I brought in my sister's 2013 Acura MDX for some service flushes.
