It's been a very long time since I've posted a review for the Home Depot In Hercules. After many years I decided to give the Home Depot another chance. I'm not sure what changed, maybe new managers? For the past few years employees seem more friendly and more helpful. I no longer wonder around trying to find an item. Now someone will approach me and asked if they could help me find something. This is a welcome change from years ago. Yesterday was the best of all. I went into have some keys made and there was no one at the kiosk, so I went to the paint counter and they called someone to help me. Nathan was there in seconds to make my keys. Of course I joked around and told him I wasn't sure if it was a self service kiosk, and he said that they do have a self service one at the other end of the store. Nathan was very friendly, personable and very polite. He is probably one the friendliest employees I've ever encountered at the Home Depot in Hercules. The cashier, Carey was also nice and friendly. Based on my visits over the past few years and yesterday I'm officially a Home Depot loyal customer and won't need to drive across town to Ace Hardware. Home Depot has a some good sales which I don't remember them having years ago, so definitely a good reason to shop there. read more

April 21 5 pm ish We are doing some projects with the Depot's merch and we have been getting way better service than usual. Bot a washer and dryer and the sale went smoothly. Bought a Crescent wrench and was able to get help finding one and releasing it from its cage. Joey working in the paint dept. Wife came home from there raving about how helpful Joey is. I literally asked where do I get in touch about exterior shutters and Associates said to me shitters few times. This feedback is for appliance delivery and install. I purchased a dishwasher for a rental property and have given up and requested a refund after having my tenants wait two separate times for several hours only to be told they couldn't make it and needed to reschedule. My tenants took time away from work each time and I just couldn't bear it anymore so asked if I could just pick it up myself. They said no. It would have to be delivered to a Home Depot and then I could pick it up from there. The customer service then told me I would have to be present when the delivery is made to the Home Depot. This is when I asked for a refund. Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. Try to fool me again fahck you. I'm not going to wait another 7 hours while they keep changing the delivery time like they have already done two times now only to leave me hanging after 7 hours. Yes the dishwasher was on sale, but I will never receive an appliance delivery/install from Home Depot again ever. Gladly will pay more and shop somewhere else. Not worth the headache and grief to me or my tenants. Attached are the various updates from Home Depot. They may be out of order. But you can see them slide the delivery day from 11:30 to 7:30pm. What isn't shown is the text they sent at the end that says they were unable to deliver and will reschedule. Nope Home Depot. Not again. I'm not a fool. In the end, Home Depot needs to make sure these contractors they partner with aren't overbooked because it will impact their business. My tenants are pissed off that one of them has now taken not one but two days off work and fahcked with by Home Depot only to not have a dishwasher. I'm going to have to find a place other than HD with one in stock and install it myself. I don't care if it costs more. My sanity is worth more than the savings. Very frustrating. read more

I normally don't like writing negative reviews, but this situation has directly impacted my work. We've now been waiting over three hours for someone to review camera footage--just to confirm that 35 bags of mulch were never provided. It's concerning that this wasn't noticed or documented in the system. My vendors have been on-site waiting since 8 a.m., and I'm paying them for their time because of a mistake that still hasn't been resolved. After being on hold for over 30 minutes, I finally spoke with the manager, Megan, who stated that the employee who processed the order claimed the mulch was picked up--yet we clearly never received it. When I mentioned that my vendors had been waiting since 8 a.m., she made a rude, snarky remark instead of showing understanding. She was unprofessional and not kind throughout the conversation. I understand company protocol, but it's frustrating when mistakes happen due to carelessness and lack of accountability. Not once did I receive an apology, offer of accommodation, or empathy. As someone who also works in a supervisory position, I can say this situation was handled very poorly. For anyone picking up orders, make sure every item is verified before leaving, or you might end up in the same situation. read more

Only buy here if your items are not locked in any cages because getting help here is like finding a leprechaun. Also buy here if it's a store pickup order only so you can save the hassle of looking for that elusive helpers. Also never buy here using instacart app if you're planning on returning the item to this store. Their return customer service wouldn't know how to do it. If you do get a store credit from this store location, do make sure to have them recheck if they did charged your store card. read more

Had to paint some drywall patches throughout our home after a re-piping project and wasn't sure the exact color paint needed, but Ralph in the paint dept. was so sooo patient and helpful. At times it has been challenging to waive someone down for assistance, but totally understandable since those visits were later into the evening. Generally, everyone is friendly and happy to help. read more

I had a great experience at this location. I was looking for crown moulding and couldn't find anyone. I searched to see what I could find by myself. Not the best idea. Al came over and said Stewart was with a customer, but he could help. AL walked me through the different types of moulding and their purposes. I was finally able to select one. Needed a plumbing part to fix a sink. Went to Home Depot, the part was out of stock. I asked for assistance and Stewart called two other home depots with "on hand" numbers in their online catalog only to find they were out also. It's rare I give any business a one star. However, I've tolerated way too many wasted trips to Depot of Ho's. This trip today killed the brand for me. I went to look for a special cart for loading foam board insulation. Any other cart wouldn't do the trip. Well it's 2pm and there are none of them available in the store, none in the parking lot, and when I asked an employee if he was done with the special cart he was minimally using, he said NO!!!! I get he has a job to do, but he had a small item on the cart and didn't seem to need it. To add insult to injury, the foam board I was looking for and showed as in stock on their site, was completely out of stock. Only one damaged board was in the bin. This makes me want to order delivery from Loew's. I wasted weeks waiting for my van to be available for this project, and Home Depot wasted my time again. Their inventory system sucks, service is hit or miss, and I rarely find what I need. I thought this was better than the El Cerrito store. I was wrong! read more

Very disappointed with the service in tool rental. I rented a pressure washer for 4 hours and a surface cleaning tool. I attempted the surface cleaning tool but it was not powerful enough to wash anything. The pressure washer its self and wand worked great. When I retuned the tool I asked for a refund on the surface cleaning tool rental since it didn't work. I do lots of business with home-depot and typically people are fairly accommodating with a reasonable request like this. The rental was only $28 for the add on tool so it wasn't a large ask. In shouldn't be charged for things that aren't useful and don't work. The associate told me that he couldn't offer a refund since I had it for the full 4 hours. I explained that I didn't have time to come to and from the store in the middle of my 4 hours rental. Disappointing service and unwillingness to listen to the customer. read more

I want to give a much deserved shout out to the General Manager of this store, Tigisti Kifle. We purchased items online for curbside pickup. One box of expensive screws had previously been opened and taped closed. I didn't notice this at the curbside exchange. Once I returned home and noticed I emailed the email address provided on the order label, which I thought was a nice touch. Mr. Kifle responded to my email within 2 hours in the evening. He went above and beyond in service. I had actually recommended solution which was fair for store and customer. He went above that and made it right for me. More than necessary, more than expected. Being that we have and will continue to spend thousands of dollars at this particular store, Mr. Kifle's excellent customer service truly meant something to us. If you're here for a store review, I don't have much to say aside that I've been going to this location for years for gardening supplies, pest control, BBQ stuff, lighting, paint, nails/screws, and really haven't had an issue. Below is a long summary of my visit today and a big problem with using gift cards for online transactions - Shout out to the manager, Brittney, for being proactive and finding a solution for the customer. I ordered a garage opener online for pickup at this Hercules location and the site stated there were 4 in stock. A few hours later, I get a cancellation e-mail. No problem, I ordered the garage opener from El Cerrito instead. Next day, I go to pick up successfully from El Cerrito. Story over, right? Nope. I had purchased the Hercules item primarily with a gift card and the remaining balance with a credit card. The cancellation e-mail said that I would get a refund on my credit card in 3-5 days. However, for the gift card portion, I would need to see customer service. So, I went into the store to see customer service. They rang me up and gave me my refund, but it had to be in store credit. I asked if store credit could be used online and the associates were unsure, but after checking my phone, I confirmed it was "in-store" only. The associates said they were only authorized to give store credit and recommended that I call Home Depot corporate, which handles the online transactions. I call corporate and they tell me I should be talking to the store manager. I talk to the store associate to escalate to the manager and Brittney arrives to save this poor soul. She initially said that corporate should be able to handle it, since they can't give out gift cards at the store. I told her that "I didn't know what to do" while running through scenarios in my head about starting an anti-Home Depot social media campaign. A moment later, she says she will try to resolve the problem by calling corporate on my behalf. It takes a while, but finally corporate is able to get me my gift card and Brittney offers some store credit for the hassle. I had gone through all the stages of anger but actually left the store in a pretty good mood. Home Depot corporate, if you're listening, a few things - Why is the inventory so different from actual? It doesn't seem likely that 4 garage door openers would have been sold within a few hours. Also, the gift card for online purchases policy needs to be changed, especially when Home Depot initiates the cancellation. The current policy forces the customer to go to the physical store AND downgrades the gift card to store credit. What the policy should be is that a new gift card is issued to the customer. read more

After speaking with Customer Care, I was contacted by the regional installation manager. We are working toward a resolution so at this time I am pleased. I learned that since people don't like how over the range microwaves stick out from the cabinetry, the one they installed was something they did at that time. Our microwaves vents to the outside so the charcoal filter is not required and the location does not have to be accessible. However; any other repair that requires access to the display panel or otherwise does require access to the two screws I cannot get to because the cabinet is too deep. I hope we can come to a fair agreement as this is in progress. That being said I wanted to share that they did respond and we are working toward a resolution. Final result was unsatisfactory to us. Their stance is that even though the cabinet exceeds the maximum depth requirement, we can remove it to repair (instead of removing two screws to access the control panel) and a new microwave can physically fit into the space even if the space does not meet a microwave manufacturer's installation requirements. Bottom line is they are not willing to take any responsibility and we are stuck with it. They offered that we can explore microwave options for the cabinet with their design team for a future purchase. That said, it is highly unlikely we will make any purchase through them and potentially hire a cabinet maker to modify our existing cabinet. Beware that any time you have work done on your home be sure to familiarize yourself with all appliance specifications and know exactly what the company is doing and why. Do not trust the "professionals" to do what is right for you. read more

This a great HomeDepot, they are nicely stocked however OMGOODNESS the wait is terrible, I waited in an area waiting for someone to come for over an hour, I went to the register for help and no one came. Then a manager realized what happened and addressed it quickly and apologized she was great and provided a great discount. I felt much better and left with my items. So overall if for not for the long wait it would have been a 5Stars, the store is well organized and clean. read more

We visited on 7/10/23, looking for a length of flexible spa hose to finish setting up a hot tub in our backyard. We had already gone to one Home Depot and had issues. We located the hose in question, but wanted to buy per-foot, rather than an entire roll of hose. This was something they had a SKU for, but they didn't have 8 feet of loose tubing for us. Eventually, we took the roll up to check out and explained the situation to Sylvia. Other places might insist that we buy the entire roll. Instead, she stuck with us, and found Jose, who could do the cutting we needed. Thank you to Sylvia and Jose for going above and beyond in order to make it work. It took a little while to get the right people, but they didn't abandon us, and they made sure to keep with it until we had resolution. read more

THIS REVIEW IS BASED ON THE CUSTOMER SERVICE/RETURNS DEPARTMENT. Hubbers bought some tools for our home but ended up not needing it anyway. He was off to work and I had plenty of time for the day, so I figure, why not do the returns myself. It may have been one of the quickest (if not THE quickest) returns I've ever done anywhere. I walked in, showed them the items and receipts. Scan, scan, "please sign here for the refund..." and DONE. Not even a minute and I was walking out of the store. They do not mess around! I am frustrated whenever I try to purchase flowers from the nursery section. TOO many plants do not have labels indicating "perennial" or "annual"! E.g., See Smart Planet vendor of flowers. There are big overhead signs indicating Perennial or Annual, however for the minority of plants that do have labels are often inconsistent with the relevant near sign. I asked a Home Depot about the signs. He said I had to look at the labels!! Sad. read more

I purchased Malibu Plank flooring in October. Signed up for curbside pickup. Arrive today to pick it up. It was 8am, so no curbside was available. I went into the store and literally waited an hour for them to locate my 2,000 flooring. After an hour I went to sent in my car and wait for my flooring since now it was 9am and curbside pick up time. I got at call at 9:08am that they found it and then preceded to wait another 20 min for an agent to come outside and tell me to move my car to the front. This is the worst Home Depot ever. The folks over at customer service- curbside pick up department were nothing short of amazing! I ordered a grill online for 4th of July weekend and the best person there, Jonathan, took the grill out and was super helpful in making sure it will fit my CRV. He took apart one side of the grill but it took him 3 more grills since the screws on the previous ones were screwed real tight! Jonathan never gave up on me and told me "sir, you will take this grill home with you this holiday!" I commend his service! I know not a lot of people have the patience and dedication this man showed me! His co-worker Karlos was also there to help load the grill for me. I came home and enjoyed my steak!
