"Music Restaurant" haha. It is basically a hole in the wall that dishes out Chinese skewers, that has a couple of flatscreens that blast techno or heavy metal music...in a foreign Asian language. There was an Asian version of Marilyn Manson that I found very amusing! Onto the food, which I really have mixed feelings for (much like Marilyn Manson). You can get all types of foods, from vegetables to chunked meat to seafood to offal. All grilled/fried on skewers. So you order and mark off a sheet much like you would dim sum. And it will all appear staggered in waves, so you will never get everything at the same time. You munch, wait, drink and munch some more. Most things are grilled/fried properly. There's some crisping which adds real nice texture to the skewers. BUT they put the same damn seasoning (red pepper, salt and cumin) on EVERYTHING. It is not bad by any means, actually is very complementary to many things like lamb and chicken wings. But when every bite has a heavy dose of this spice, it just gets tiresome REAL quick. At least for our table, who were all non-Chinese. Most skewers range from $1.50 - $3.50 each. So given 4-7 skewers per person for a meal, it can easily reach $20 per without drinks. Mushroom (3*): They use oyster mushrooms which are tender. Good to pair with lamb or chicken. The seasoning can tend to overpower if it gets concentrated in spots. Green Beans (4*): nicely grilled, vibrant and tender. Shrimp (5*): Head on, shell on. So good for me. Quite juicy and intense. Chicken Skin (3*): This seemed fried to me as opposed to grilled. Slightly crunchy chicharone basically. Really rich though, I had a hard time eating the whole skewer. Will split this next time. Chicken Wings (4.5*): Really good as this holds up to that red spicing. If the skin would of had more of a grill char, this would of been perfect. Lamb (4*): If it just says 'lamb', it appears to be cubed up leg of lamb. Nicely grilled with good browning, whilst remaining juicy. Must get. Lamb Chops (1*): I thought this was going to be chops from either the rib or sirloin area. But it was just the ribs/riblets. No "eye" from a loin. They should call it lamb ribs. But this was more gamey/strong than the lamb cubes. Which isn't entirely a bad thing, except it was a lot chewier too, which made it a poor choice. Skip. We also got a bowl of Fried Rice (4*) to diversify our outing. It is very homey with chunks of hot dogs (huh?!) and small shrimp. It is a tad greasy as you can see it just shimmering in the light. But pretty darn tasty, if the grease doesn't get to you. And you can get this in varying spiciness, so they really want you to drink here. Overall decent experience that I wouldn't mind trying again. We ordered a lot and it still seems we didn't even scratch the surface. To that, I'm sure there will be a return, and just glad that this unique way to munch and socialize is there for the taking. #diverse-city read more

Instead of providing us with the next table it was given to another party. Yummy skewers! Open until past midnight! Great hang out spot for young adults. It's a small shop though so we had to wait about 40 minutes for a party of 5, around 11pm. Skewers are mostly around $1-$5. There are usually 4-5 pieces on each stick. They really add up so don't expect to be cheap cheap when you come here ! Try the beef and lamb. They're delicious and only 1.50 for each skewer. If you're feeling adventurous and never had "exotic" food, try the chicken heart and pig feet. They were bomb too! Onto the drinks-- usually these skewers are best eaten with alcohol. I would say it is best paired with beer! But, we decided to try the soju test tube. They weren't even strong and arrived much after most of our food did. I think I'll get beer next time. They speak Chinese mandarin here and a good 95% of the customers here were chinese. I came with two non chinese friends and most of the staff directly spoke to me... in mandarin... which I don't understand. I told them I spoke Cantonese but they didn't speak the language. They are spotty with their English. On their food, only certain items were good and some not so good. Everything was seasoned with the same spice mix. Cumin and red pepper were the dominant flavors. Still tasty but you start to crave for a different flavor. We were given pollack by mistake and that was surprisingly better than we expected. Still a bit fishy smelling. My favorite was the homemade fish balls! They include the filling with fish eggs. The chicken skin was also crispy and flavorful. The worst tasting was the coriander wrap. They use a tofu skin to wrap the cilantro and the tofu skin soaked up the butane they used to grill everything. For the beef, lamb, and chicken, it's a minimum of 2 skewers per order. This is my 2nd time to this place. The first time was couple of weeks ago and I must say, their rice noodle soup is the best! I have always wanted to tried this place before covid, however, I never got a chance to try until recently. The first time we came, we tried their BBQ and the rice noodle soup. We got beef, lamb, chicken heart, chicken gizzard, rice cake, and a-choi. Their rice cake was shockingly good. It is sweet, we let it sit a little too long so it got hard, but my husband tried it once we got back to our place, it was still soft. I never had BBQ rice cake and I am a fan now. Their meat BBQ is not too chewy, its quite tender. Their rice noodle soup, its spicy and numbing. It's so good. I usually don't like that numbing feeling because most of the time I can't feel my tongue anymore. But theirs is just right. The soup is very salty and its perfect with the noodles. Just don't drink the soup by itself. The noodles is cook perfectly, It's not soggy and it has that chewy texture to it and that's what I love about it. We saved the soup and added more waters to it and made a 2nd meal with extra noodles from our freezer. It's great! The 2nd time we went, we tried their fried rice, BBQ chicken skin, string beans, chicken wings, homemade fish ball, and steamed bun slice. I like the chicken wings and the string beans the most out of all the new one we tried. The steamed bun slice was not crispy anymore by the time we got home. Place is not bad for skewered treats reminiscent of street food in China. Only thing is most of the items here are not "Grilled" nor "Barbecued" (串烧) as advertised or at least not done fully. Skewers are shallow fried in an oil fryer for ease of cooking prior to being grilled. Flavors are authentic, cooking style on the other hand, not so much. Still happy to see that we have this option in and around the East Bay but if you are craving something authentic "Yang's BBQ" down in Cupertino serves much better Spicy Cumin Lamb Skewers. This place is so damn good if you like Northern Chinese grilled skewers. It also opens till 2am on the weekends so it definitely can became one of your guilty pleasures if you come here for late nights. It's relatively cheap, around $1.50 - $2 per skewer, and they grill them perfectly over charcoal so each skewer has a really nice char taste. Each skewers are marinated in the same seasoning, which is a cumin, spice powder, salt, and sugar mixture. Some of my favorites are the grilled lamb, beef, beef tendon, sausage, honeycomb, mushrooms, buns, A veggie, and the oysters. Their grilled oysters are really really good, smokey and burning hot when they arrive. They also have some side dishes like thousand year old egg, pork knuckles, etc, which are great as well. Ill give this place a 3 combining the looks of the restaurant and the food. Came in for an early dinner at this place and placed our order. First of all half of the drink menu was gone. We placed our drink orders and the lady was like we don't have that. Then another guy came and said we also don't have that. I asked which ones they have and gave me a blank stare and didn't elaborate on what's available. I ended up just ordering water. We ordered a variety of skewers, tried all the meat and some veggies. A little bit too salty and over seasoned for my taste but hey if you like that then good. We had some veggies as well which were grilled nicely. They oysters with garlic butter I would actually highly recommend. Fresh off the grill with bubbling butter straight to your table. The place was decent. Relatively clean I would say. It was My first coming here with my boyfriend, my boyfriend comes here with his Filipino friends amd recommended it as hes never had a problem before. In short don't come here if you aren't Chinese or some type of Asian. you will not get the same level of respect, service, urgency or care as the expected customer. Me and my girlfriend came here for dinner and first thing I noticed was how small the portions were and how slow it took to get these really small portions of food. My girlfriend is chinese and the check was in chinese, so I asked her to tell me how much it was. For about 4 dishes of 6 tiny skewers it was 33 dollars wich is crazy. Our total bill near the end was around 47 dollars and my girlfriend went up to pay. We aren't american, I'm from Europe and we'll she's chinese so we are very against the tipping culture in America, so we almost always don't tip. Now when my girlfriend circled no tip on the reciept, the person behind the POS told her that the tip isn't automatically included, later on when my girlfriend replied with ok. The person asked if she was tipping in cash. And after my girlfriend ignoring her, and coming back to the table to gather our things and leave, we recieved alot of stares from the staff and were laughed at, legit 4 of em gathered around the reciept and kept looking at us, the girl behind the pos legit made an effort to peak out to see who everyone was laughing and talking about. As we were about to leave, ANOTHER staff approached us. Asking what was wrong with the service and why we didn't tip. Harassed, laughed at, and having our experience and our night ruined over not tipping is something I never thought I would experience. Even worse, I don't speak a single bit of chinese so all this was said to my girlfriend who legit got overwhelmed and ended up crying because of that. After getting addicted to Chinese skewers, I was ecstatic to try Aceking. We went on a weekday to avoid a packed house and luckily they were not busy at all. The service was outstanding. The guy was very patient with us and explained everything on their menu. If it's your first time, guaranteed you will have questions. Some items are very vague one word items. Heart-Shaped = Chicken hearts Tenderloin = Pork tenderloin Winkles = Snail Between the three of us, we ordered: -Home made sauce fried rice: Flavored very well, and tasted amazing. They used a wok and the texture of the rice was perfect. -Bullet Egg: not sure how they were able to make this so perfect but the presentation is nice and the egg had a great balance of sweetness and saltiness (you'll find a nice surprise at the bottom) -Meat skewers: lamb, beef, sausage, shrimp, gizzards, heart-shaped(chicken heart), -Veggie skewers: lotus root, fried bean curd, cabbage, mushroom -Ball skewers: Home made ball meat/fish, cuttlefish ball, lobster ball, beef tenderloin ball So the balls: one of them had the little eggs inside that pops out when you bite into it. It was freaking good but when we asked one the workers, she seemed to have no idea which one it was and just guessed the name of the item. Also, the cuttlefish and beef tenderloin was very gross. They lacked flavor and had a bad texture. A suggestion is to add on various veggies, specifically greens. The only thing that came close to it was cabbage. The skewers seem to be deep fried as supposed to just grilled but the flavor is great and the quality of the meat is as well. Price is pretty decent, not sure why others said it's overpriced.
