This is an excellent outfit that manages its time well, and is very competitive in its pricing - actually very reasonable compared to some of the exorbitant quotes that contractors nowadays shock you with -- they arrived on time, started to work right away, and their progress was slowed only because we had an issue with the product that we were installing ... otherwise on schedule, and on budget- Bogdan has done a good job so far. Update : Hardwood floor was done perfectly in the end - excellent attention to detail, they pointed out all the technical difficulties and issues we had-- very conscientious, they stopped work when they had to, so that we can get our materials in order then they came back and finished on time, on target-- Bogdan is an excellent contractor in my book !

black stain 2 feet up freshly painted walls

I am currently in the middle of getting my red oak hardwood floors refinished by this company and am having nothing but one problem after another. First, the guys who came to the property to start the sanding were told that they would need to work beside the rest of the construction crew there since the house is in the middle of a monster rehab project. Instead of actually communicating anything with my other construction crew, they whined and complained that the other crew was in the way. I had to stop my job, get in the car, drive to the house to see what the problem was only to find out that the drywall people were in the same room as the hardwood people. Big deal! Work around each other! The hardwood team refused and they insisted that they needed to come back when the other team was finished with their jobs. 2 weeks later, I called the Pro Flooring office and spoke with Jaime. I asked specifically how long each phase of the job would take and if my guys would still be able to finish up the tile while her guys were sanding the floors. I was told they had 2 1/2 days of sanding so it should be no problem to have my tile team completing the tile in the bathrooms during that time. Then my team would go downstairs and the hardwood guys could seal off the entire upstairs to stain and seal the hardwoods without any interruption. Apparently, that was false information because when the whiners started working again, they complained yet again that others were working in adjacent rooms. Rather than acknowledging their error of poor communication and bad planning, they threw a temper tantrum and insisted that they needed that space all to themselves immediately. As rude and unaccommodating as they were, I complied and assigned the other team to work elsewhere just to get the damn job going. Then, the skirts along the stairs were broken when I purchased the house and repairing or replacing them was originally included in the bid but once it came time to actually doing them, the lovely Pro Flooring people refused and said they didn't have the ability to do them but then insisted that I would need to have a carpenter fix it immediately or they wouldn't be able to continue their sanding. As if that wasn't bad enough, Alan (the sales guy) tried to convince me that the skirts were not broken when he wrote the bid for me and that my other construction team must have broken them after the fact. I have photos and a video walk through of the property before any construction ever started to prove that they were always broken so he then replied with "well I don't remember that conversation". Um....sigh....ok whatever. My carpenter stopped what he was doing to make sure the whiners had what they needed to proceed with their super important job. The Pro Flooring guys said they intended to stay late and get all the sanding, the stain, and the 1st coat of Swedish finish done same day so of course they would need my electrician to drop what he was doing to come to the house and make sure the lights were all turned on because the royalty that is the Pro Flooring workers couldn't possibly be burdened by using work lights like every other construction crew on the planet when electrical isn't yet complete. But wait, I'm just getting started. Then I got a voicemail from the respectful Alan (sarcasm) at 7:30 that same evening which said and I quote "IT IS RAINING IN THE HOUSE". I jumped up, called him back, called my construction crew, and raced over to the house expecting to see a whole in the roof and destruction of brand new drywall, paint, flooring, cabinets, etc. What did I find? I found a tiny droplet of water coming from a pendant light and a damp spot the size of a quarter just below it. My contractor climbed up in the ceiling to find a tiny little leak in a vent and fixed it. By the time he got back down from the ceiling, the wet spot on the floor was completely dry. The whiners from Pro Flooring couldn't handle it and insisted that they would not continue sanding and would need confirmation that the leak was fixed before coming back to the house to complete what they started. In the meantime though, no one was allowed to walk on their freshly sanded floors because they couldn't be held responsible for any dirty footprints. Positive here is that they saw and reported the leak. Thank you for that. Throwing a fit and blowing it way out of proportion then refusing to complete the work that was started though....totally unnecessary. Also, I would like to add that they themselves ended up leaving soggy, nasty, muddy footprints all over the freshly sanded floors as they were cleaning up their equipment for the night. I have a photo to prove it. As it stands, the sanding is done and black stain is on the floor...oh and on the freshly painted white baseboards, and on the bottom of all the freshly painted white doors, and up the walls. They seem to think that I should fix it all with 1/4 round. Avoid this company at all cost!

Floor and tub surround

Bogdon and his team did a bathroom floor and tub surround for us. Turned out beautifully! A total of 3 days- they cleaned up thoroughly each time they left. I will be contacting him again for a bigger job in the future!

We have a baby, and wanted to change the floors of a house we bought for durability and aesthetics before moving in. There were also a number of creaks in our floors, and we wanted to get them fixed. Erik's team was able to take off the carpet and existing pine hardwood, level the floor, and install the laminate we picked out. His team came at 8am every morning and they finished by evening when we came back. We did this before we moved into our new house, and we love the way our house looks and feels now. Erik (the owner) was the first to come do the consultation, he was quick, and to me he felt very trustworthy from the beginning. He was also communicative throughout the whole process - often on the over-detailed side. And among the other offers, his was reasonable in price (compared to others) and according to our quick timeline. That said, when you get work done you may come across hurdles and it's important you get alternate opinions. As first time homeowners, we assumed that getting flooring done is straightforward. Apparently it's not. We were warned that the initial quote may be affected by the state of our subfloors once they take out the existing flooring. We got an urgent call saying that there was a lot more unevenness in our floors than expected, and that they would have to pour self leveling throughout the entire house, which was a quote of 90 bags, at $150 each. We were told that was the only option, and were strongly encouraged to go this route to make our timeline. After getting evaluations from multiple other flooring experts, we got alternate advice for up to 12 bags of self leveling, max. Our home is only 10yrs old. 90 bags of self leveling is enough for an entire apartment building, and weighs over 2 tons. Apparently the only way to guarantee absolute evenness is if you just pour self leveling on the entire floor, and also easier for the workers. But we opted for the labor-intensive (but more cost effective) way of going through the whole house measuring each high point & low point, sanding down the high points, and only pouring in the patches at the low points. Needless to say, we rejected the proposed approach and Erik's team was able to handle the uneven subfloors with only 3 bags. Three. Unfortunately, this issue resulted in several days delay in the completion of our project, not to mention a lot of additional stress. We wish this hurdle had not happened. That said, we are proud to have not caved under urgency and stress - it would have cost us 13.5K! That said, after consulting quite a few flooring companies - I noticed that each will use different numbers for labor, materials, demo, etc. They also suggest different approaches like keeping quarter rounds on baseboards or ripping them off and attaching new ones. Adding transitions as an additional cost or not, etc etc. Get as many quotes as you can so you understand what is the average price you should expect to pay - they may charge differently, but at the end of the day they have to meet their numbers to pay their guys and still make a profit. Flooring costs more than I expected, and most of the quotes I got were 14-20K for 2 story house around 2000sq ft. (Bathrooms excluded). At the end of the day, we love our new floors. Erik was extremely communicative through the whole process. His team was hardworking, and finished the work before we had to leave on a trip. They were detailed for the part of the floor which met the fireplace, making sure it was flush against the uneven hearth tile. There are barely any squeaks left in the house. They came and resolved any concerns we had. They were flexible with movers coming as they were finishing the last day. All in all, although there was a hiccup in the process, we did have a very good experience with Erik and his team. And, I'm confident he will recommend the spot patching method for leveling the floor for future clients. Thank you for making our floors one of my favorite parts of the house now, Hardwood Plus!

I initially contacted them to look at tile for our project, when David and Enzo arrived I was very pleased to discover they did much more than that. They provided a bid to do almost everything to get our house livable, and while we didn't choose them for every line item, we were happy to hire them to do almost everything. David and his team were nothing short of amazing. In just 6 weeks, they transformed our house from an empty shell with painted drywall into a livable home. Their craftsmanship was outstanding - they replaced the subfloor, walked us through acclimating our hardwood floors, installed both LVP and hardwood throughout, helped organize the design and installation of steel railings, and even frameless glass shower doors. Despite my eagerness to speed up the process, they maintained their high-quality standards. They also installed trim and doors throughout, ensuring everything was complete just in time for us to move in before our rental lease expired. Without David and his crew, we would have moved into an incomplete and unsafe home for our 4.5-year-old. We're extremely grateful to have found E&A through Yelp, and I can't recommend them highly enough. They went above and beyond, and this 5-star review is well-deserved

We ended up going with a different product. Ever since then the quality of this product has been deteriorating. I have had Empire out twice to replace boards, but today I found another bubble in a different room. I don't know if the quality of this particular board is the issue or the quality of material Empire works with. I tried emailing the company but got no response back. The installation process was also highly unprofessional. Despite having a morning appointment for which I took a day off work, the installers did not arrive until 4:00 PM and continued working until 8:00 PM. Upon arrival, the installer--who informed me he was actually a landscaping contractor--immediately asked if I wanted to reschedule. Consequently, I have already hired another professional to redo the entire flooring. I am really disappointed with empire as it is very well known company.

We found them on Yelp after discovering water was leaking from our upstairs bathroom into the ceiling below -- the drywall had already started to collapse. It's a small bathroom with a shower, toilet, sink, and washer/dryer, and we assumed it was just a grouting or caulking fix. Timothy came over within hours after I contacted him for a free inspection. He did a series of tests with me that revealed that the entire shower had been built wrong and had been silently leaking water into our walls and ceiling for years. If we'd hired someone who just slapped on new grout and called it a day, we'd still have water destroying our home from the inside out. Their systematic approach caught what a previous contractor missed when we had them out for the same issue two years ago. They rebuilt the shower completely and repaired the damaged ceiling below. The whole project took about two week, and honestly, every single day of that process was impressive. Their communication was outstanding--they stopped to ask questions at exactly the right moments, walked us through every decision, and never once made us feel out of the loop. And they listened to the issues we had with the shower and make awesome design suggestions like a ceiling mounted shower head for our tall daughters and making more storage in the walls that were there. They worked clean, treated our home with genuine respect, and made smart calls throughout the entire project. And then there's the finished product. Wow. This wasn't just a repair--it was a transformation. The attention to design detail is incredible. Tile work is flawless, grout lines are perfect, everything has a high-end, intentional look to it. Our bathroom has never looked this good, not even when we moved in. They clearly take enormous pride in their craftsmanship, and it shows. Pricing was fair for the scope of work, and when you consider they uncovered years of hidden damage that no one else would have found, it was an absolute bargain. We would hire Rainier Bath and Tile again in a heartbeat and will be recommending them to everyone we know. This is a team that does things the right way--no shortcuts, great communication, and exceptional work and accountability from start to finish.
