I interviewed with Ace for a Vice President role. I was told I would be recommended to interview with the president of the company and was sent an assessment. Then I was ghosted by the recruiter Mike Evans. I followed up by email and phone and never heard back. It is extremely unprofessional to ghost someone like that. The packing was ok but they rush everything. The warehouse services is pricey. It is more expensive than renting an apartment. Then when the crew unloaded lotsa broken and damage item. Our new couch was damage. Dents on our fridge washer and dryer. Scratches on furniture and lotsa broken mirror and home decor items. Lotsa missing parts and the movers dented and lotsa black mark on my wall and ceilings. Our home was newly built. They left all kinds of mess as well. Horrible movers. Will not recommend. read more

Be careful! A returning customer here, but I now learned that just because you previously had a smooth experience with this business doesn't mean you would get the same when coming back. We hired them in 2021 for cross-country move without any problem. However, this time (Sept. 2023) they are dishonest in how they presented and explained their quote to have you sign a contract, vs. what they would later demand you to pay. We hired Ace Relocation/Atlas Van Lines (San Jose branch) for ~$10K to move our stuff from San Francisco to Washington DC. Contract/registration number RB327040, Pickup date 9/1/23. After the moving consultant (Darrin L.) visited our house in-person in order to construct an accurate estimate, we were presented with a quote and a BINDING contract, about which Darrin emphasized that there would be no extra charges unless we tender additional household goods (which did not happen). He also emphasized how professional and transparent his company was, compared to other moving businesses nowadays in the market. His quote was higher than other quotes we received, but we still decided to sign with them. Now, two days before our scheduled delivery and as we were making the payment, we noticed that the total amount was $687.68 higher without any explanation! As we inquired, Ace Relocation/Atlas responded that their driver would not be able to get in our destination using his tractor trailer so a shuttle charge will apply. This is unacceptable for several reasons: First of all, our destination address is located right on a main street of Washington DC with 4 lanes, so if their truck were not able to get there as they said, I promise you their truck wouldn't get to yours no matter where you live! Second of all, both pickup and delivery addresses were provided upfront BEFORE their binding quote was constructed and presented it to us. Therefore, it is entirely their responsibility to determine whatever would be needed for them to deliver and made sure it was incorporated that into their quote. Third, as shown in the photos attached, a line item for "Accessorial Service" with $687.68 (the exact same amount they now ask as an extra) was already included in the binding contract, which Darrin the moving consultant explained to me before I signed the contract that it was for a shuttle service! The way Ace Relocation presented a quote to customer and then charged extra is very dishonest and upsetting. Unless they keep the total charges as in our signed contract and deliver our stuff as scheduled without any damages, we intend to share this experience in every consumers' platform that we can. read more

I used Ace for a cross country move. Pick up was good; Adrian and Junior worked their tails off to load our belongings into the truck, and we were off to a solid start. The driver arrived with the team to unload our belongings, and when they unloaded one of our large items (bookshelf) I was informed it had been damaged (not by the drop off team, but at some point in between). After inspecting the bookshelf it became clear to me that someone had tried to lift the entirety of the weight of the bookshelf by pulling up at one end of it, the absolute worst way you could have tried to lift it, and in doing so it broke the compartment at that end, completely stripping all of the screws of their screw holes. I submitted a claim on the item; it's only 2 years old and was purchased for $300 (the exact same model brand new is currently going for over $500). I waited a week and a half before receiving an email stating I would receive $60 dollars for my broken bookshelf. That's not a type - 1/5th of the value of the item; the entire move cost for Ace was north of $5000, and they offer me 60 bucks for a bookshelf that is now just a big piece of garage in my home? I have a big broken bookshelf that I need to arrange getting rid of, boxes full of items still unpacked weeks after arriving because they would normally go into said bookshelf, and an offer for $60 compensation. I emailed back stating I did not think that was a fair offer, and so for after several days have received nothing back. I would love to give a 5 star review for the reviewer, movers, and drivers, but know that if Ace breaks your stuff you are going to get royally screwed by them. read more

A friend recommended Atlas Vanlines (who Ace works with), and we got a quote from them and 2 other moving companies. One quoted us at $6,000 max, one at $2,300 subject to change based on # of boxes, and Ace quoted us at $2,800 max. We decided to go with Ace because of the guarantee to not exceed the quote and because we liked Walter so much, who came to give the estimate and worked with us to get all of the logistics set. While we were moving from a small apartment, it was very full of heavy items like books, so we wanted to be certain that we wouldn't be charged extra on the day of the move. We decided on a pick up date and they came exactly when they said they would. We packed up everything ourselves and they moved it in under 2 hours. The movers were all very friendly and courteous. They told us our stuff would arrive in 2-5 business days, so we were thrilled when they told us that they would drop off our stuff on Monday morning after picking it up on Friday afternoon. When they dropped off our furniture and boxes, they had us tick items off the inventory list to make sure that everything was there. These guys were moving our neighbors stuff and blocked my entry to my driveway for several hours. When asked to move to let me enter my garage, i was told by a man named "Joe" that he wasn't going to do anything and we can call whoever we want. He additionally said "go eat another burrito" as a racial slur mistaking me for a hispanic. Then they threw big boxes near us in an attempt to scare me and my neighbor. We planned our interstate relocation months in advance and called Ace Relocation Services first. Eric was very professional and his estimate was spot on! Kelly communicated with us throughout the process. The drivers and packers showed up early and worked continuously, except for a lunch break, and did a great job. Very strange experience. Impossible to book an estimate or move!! I really liked their service last time we moved. Now I need to move again and thought to book Ace relocation. I requested an estimate on the website and was called back right away, only the calendar did not work at the time, they would message their supervisor and I would be called back. I never received the call back, so I decided to call back 8 hour later. The same problem still exists, I was advised to try calling them every 30 minutes. Which is ridiculous. The next day I tried a couple more times. No one seemed to be able to do anything and it is also not possible to talk to the supervisor directly. Today I tried for one last time, telling them I will hire another company if they cannot help me. The reaction was "We understand " Update after reply It seems very odd that you were not notified. Please DO NOT use this company for your move. Movers arrived with no moving materials except for thin brown paper. I paid for moving insurance, and on the day of my move they refused to move my coffee and TV table unless I signed a form waiving all damages. They said they would repackage the item at the warehouse but when it arrived at my destination it was not packaged at all and had a HUGE scratch (not to mention they arrived 8 hours late). They refused to give me any compensation even though I paid for insurance. I HIGHLY recommend you do not choose this company as I would not want anyone to be misled. Do Not Use Ace Relocation. I used them in March 2023 to move from Arlington Heights, Illinois to Colorado mountains. They were very sloppy in packing. Didnt pack the printer after i told them too. When they got to Colorado Springs to drive up the UTEPASS they needed to change trucks. I paid. my house was being restored after frozen pipes burst so everything had to be put in rooms in the basement. Again they use throwing the boxes. it wasn't until December that I could start unpacking. boxes. The furniture went upstairs in August. Upon unpacking I discovered that 4 very large boxes were missing in February, when I unpacked everything. in these boxes were clothe, shoes, slippers that still had tags on them. Kitchen appliances were gone, hydraulic plants systems gone. New Electric tools, bits sets and much more. over $3,000 stole. Also half of my expensive crystal wine/champagne glasses broken and much more. The printer that they didn't pack broken. I never received my missing boxes. I couldn't claim because I only had 9 months. December was the end of claim. other movers had 1-2 years. I have lost so much and no help or even a sorry as their employees steal merchandise. I'm senior citizen and these movers took advantage. They rushed me were I wasn't able to count boxes plus didn't understand they papers on how they counted the items. it was a mess, purposely done. sSO I REPEAT DO NOT USE THEM FOR LONG DISTANCE MOVES. After getting my 2k sq ft home furniture moved from VA to CA by Rex, I don't think I can ever go back to DIY type of moving again. If there were a rating less than one start, I would give it to ACE Relocation. They worked on my recent move. At destination, ACE hired a third party vendor MSS to take off my refrigerator's doors in order for ACE's crew to move the refrigerator upstairs. After the doors had been reinstalled, I immediately noticed that the lights were not working. I told the technician about this. He went back to work on it. When I came back to the refrigerator, the technician had already left but leave the lights unfixed still. I contacted ACE Relocation in the next few days for a claim for the damage since I had purchased an insurance coverage for everything. However, ACE Relocation kept rejecting my claim saying it's not their fault and asked me to contact MSS even though MSS was their vendor. I told them clearly that there was clearly a damage and they had contractual relationship with MSS rather than me. They even produced a signoff document with my signature which I never signed off since I had not got a chance to check the refrigerator before the technician left, and the date of the document was wrong too. Clearly FORGED! ACE then stopped contacting me even thought they said they would. I am very frustrated and disappointed. The experience of dealing with ACE was very BAD! If you are considering using ACE services, please read this and reconsider. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND IT TO ANY OF MY FRIENDS. read more

I have been moved, professionally, over a dozen times. Without a doubt, this is the worst experience I've ever had with a mover. I would recommend avoiding them. It's difficult to pinpoint the precise issues, I think it's the accumulation of so many little issues, that when viewed in aggregate, made this the most unpleasant experience I've had. Some specifics: 1. The sales person providing the quote, disappeared after I accepted it. While I had lots of questions, later in our relationship, he never returned a call. 2. We paid a premium to have about 10 items crated in wood crates--some quite valuable. These were so poorly constructed, all but two fell apart in the moving process. As a result, some glass tops shattered, other items were damaged. I repeatedly complained and asked for a refund of those services, but never got one. At our destination, the movers said they had never seen such bad quality work. 3. Two of the crates I asked to be left unopened. I later opened them myself and saw items damaged. When I asked for it to be corrected, they said that was my responsibility. That they should have opened them for me. Even though they knew the problems we had had with this individual, they took no responsibility, So now I have to bear the cost of replacing a glass top for about $700-800. 4. Our items were put in storage for close to a year. In that time, there was damage to many of the items. I had been told the carpets would be rolled and put in an insect proof/moth proof plastic covering. That was not done. We had several carpets with moth damage. While it was very minor, it would not have happened if they had fulfilled their commitments. 5. 80% of the boxes had been crushed to varying degrees. While the damage was relatively minor, that careless handling is simply unprofessional. 6. In moving some of the furniture out of the house, they broke one piece carrying it downstairs. They covered it up in the inventory by saying it was damaged, never indicating they caused the damage. At the time, unwisely, I decided to overlook it, I could get the repair done for about $100, so I thought is was just easier. But, little did I know the continued "little" problems that would arise. 7. Every move has some problems. But in hindsight, seeing the collection of little problems became very large. With the exception of the crating problems, the cost of each little problem was minor, but collectively, in hindsight is a couple of thousand $'s. 8. There were a few people that seemed to care and did their best, in what I can only assume is a tough environment. Michelle, in customer service did the best job she possibly could. The team that moved us into the new house after having our stuff in storage for about a year was very good. 9 The biggest problems were the person doing the crating. The team moving us out was sloppy, and careless. And I can't comment on the handling in storage, but given the condition of the boxes when finally delivered, the carpet damage, etc, I can only guess it was horrible. This experience is, by far, the worst I've ever had. There are far better quality companies to handle your relocations. read more

I really couldn't have told you that I would be writing this review before our experience with Ace, but here I am. My wife took a job as an executive at a Salt Lake City company, and they contracted to move our family from California. The movers were to pack, load, deliver, and partially unload our items. We had also contracted for a 4 day packing period, and then a two day unload. As day 3 started coming to a close, the truck driver (who leads the move) decided he wanted to end a day early in order that he save $1000 on payments to the hired workers who actually did the packing. He also wanted to get back home and have an extra day there. This rush to finish ended by the movers not packing everything, and leaving items behind. Then, on the arrival side, they rushed again and decided to do it all in one day instead of two. This resulted in many boxes going in to the wrong rooms, and the partial unpack being hastily done. Now, two weeks later, we find ourselves unpacking delicate glass items which were barely wrapped in protective paper underneath piles of heavy books. We have a list of items which we will claim through their insurance, and we still have dozens of boxes to go. And here is another crazy thing they did-they took off all of the wires which connects the peripherals (printers, hard drives, etc.) and they put them in a "parts box". Terrible idea, as we still can't find the parts box and are digging through boxes trying to put things together. All in all I would say this move wasn't done with the care it could have been given, and the rush rush added unnecessary stress plus meant some of our valuable were compromised. From the moment David arrived (with his beautiful new van!) at my Austin home for my move to Phoenix, I felt reassured that all would be well as they set about packing with utmost care. David was thoughtful and courteous; he even ran out to his van to get a cellphone charger as I couldn't locate mine. Throughout the day these amazing guys, under David's direction, reminded me that they were there to see that I was stress free, which made the experience the least stressful I've experienced with many moves as an Air Force "brat" and spouse. Another plus: great senses of humor :-)! Handing one's life's possessions to another's care to transport to another state is a daunting thought. But David arrived, at the promised time, and moved those possessions in with his crew as carefully as he had moved out. Just had a terrible experience with Ace Relocation out of San Jose. Largely a rude and unprofessional company. I am a business professional, well versed in customer service. Although they advertise in home estimates, they pushed video chats and didn't want to come and give a quote in home. They say they are local but will not connect you with anyone local, unless you insist. Their phone calls bounce between Seattle and San Diego. Finally got a woman who scheduled an appointment for a few days later. An hour later, she called and asked if they could come that day. I said I was sorry I wouldn't be home. A few hours afterwards, I got a call from Anthony in San Jose, he initially lied and said they would be too pricey to come to SF from San Jose. When I said the person who recommended me was in the same location, he said they just couldn't do the job, without even speaking with me. I believe this was because, in fairly good humor, I commented to the second person that the first person I spoke with was really unprofessional. My belief is that a company worthy of conducting business in this area needs to be open to hearing constructive criticism if presented kindly. If this is how they are on the initial call, can you imagine how they would be with any problems with the move? And there will be problems! Nightmare! Look elsewhere! read more

From our experience, Ace was a no brainer in choosing a moving company. I contacted four local companies to receive quotes. Two companies gave quotes over the phone that were simply hourly crew rates with no max price. I was hesitant of this type of contract, especially given consumer reports of moving fraud. One company never replied to my inquiry. The fourth was Ace which offered an onsite estimate at our "move from" home to evaluate the amount of furniture and boxes to move. Their estimate was a not-to-exceed flat price that was surprisingly very reasonable. The move went great with no damage or "additional fees" common to many other movers. One thing to note is they won't move glass top furniture (they probably will move glass with a damage waiver but I just removed the glass surface and moved it myself). Ace relocation system is the worst relocation system of all the van lines we've used. When you move you expect some items to be damaged, but we had more items than expected damaged, and they also lost some of our shipment. I needed to move one room of furniture from San Jose, California to Canton, Georgia. I was looking at perhaps renting a small truck and doing it myself. I looked into the self-pack type of movers. I then put out of bids to move this small but personally very important set of furniture. I received such hard sells and pushy responses that I decided to use a different approach. I picked one that I thought was professional but when dealing with them it was a disaster so I quickly cancelled the contract before they could do any further damage(after all these are family heirlooms going to my only daughter and I wanted safe arrival not lowest price). I asked friends in the real estate industry who they use. Ace Relocations name kept coming up. I called them with fear and trepidation. I was put in touch with Eric Galpine as my agent. He and Jeanette and every one at Ace did a fabulous job. The crew that came out to pick up the furniture were neat and clean and very professional. They took such good care of these few pieces that I just knew everything was going to be okay. At delivery there was a minor glitch that took a little while to fix ( some missing glass shelves). Customer service was on it that very day. The shelves were located and delivered without any further problem. My move was not a large move. The pricing I thought was very fair (I could not have rented a truck to do this job for less). Everything was handled as if they were moving their own furniture. I contacted Atlas and 3 other companies for relocation from California to Texas. Ace partner of Atlas, Eric Galpine came to our home and gave an estimate. I was a little hesitant since it appeared how could anyone estimate the property just with a visual tour of everything. Plus it was not definitely the cheapest in price. However, based on my interactions with Eric, my wife and I liked how he explained everything and was very understanding on what we had to achieve as a part of the move. We decided to move with Ace. It was a very good decision since everything was handled so well, right from packing, storing in storage (yes we had 3 months of storage) before actually getting delivered at California. I've moved with a professional residential moving company 6 times in the last 15 years, and I have also been a senior facilities professional for 25 years with large companies. It's no exaggeration to say I have worked with more than 50 crews over that time, residential and commercial. This was the best move I've ever experienced! The crew was awesome. Very polite, kind, helpful and efficient. They did a terrific job with all of the packing, and the moving experience was incredibly smooth and well thought out.
