    I can't stress enough how important it is for any and all readers TO GO ANYWHERE ELSE but here, if they need a vehicle. However if you have literally nothing else going on in your lives and need some form of quest to chase an adrenaline high? Boy, is this the place for you. It took us roughly 3.5 hours just to get to this place, from NYC. Why? Because the information/signage/guidance to WHERE THIS PLACE IS, isn't just awful - it feels like a purposefully-engineered social experiment to see how people act under stress. Like lab rats in a maze. If you're coming in from NYC, you'll likely start by arriving at Newark Airport train station and asking where the car rentals are - and you're told by any employees/staff/locals to get on the air train and get off at the last stop, where (virtually) all the car rental options are. After getting off the AirTrain at the very last stop, you'll have to walk roughly 10-15 minutes down a massive corridor til you hit a Car Rental hub with about a dozen companies - Budget, Alamo, Sixt, Hertz, etc. More rental options than you can shake a stick at. Ace is not one of them. Matter of fact, Ace is nowhere near the main car rental hub. Where is Ace, you may ask? The sheer arrogance, the ungodly hubris of such a question! Suffice it to say there is zero signage telling you where Ace is, near or around Newark airport. Certainly not at the AirTrain stations, or anyplace else that would make sense. It feels like inquiring about Ace is like delving into an unspoken taboo, a blacked-out government secret best left untouched by naive customers like you or I. But should you choose to try your luck and tempt fate, you'll have to ask random people in the car rental hub and hope they give you the secret first step towards reaching Ace rentals - go back down the infinite corridor, get back on the Air Train, and get off at "P4". Await further instructions there. Once you've arrived at P4, you have to ask Newark Airport employees where to go next - because (you guessed it) there's no signs telling you where to go or anything. Certainly no written evidence that Ace is anywhere within a 10-mile radius. The next step in your quest is to await a shuttle bus that takes you from P4 to the Ace Rental spot about 10-15 minutes down the road. The catch? There's about a dozen shuttle busses from various hotels / Holiday Inns stopping in that exact same spot, with signs along the road for each of them (but none for Ace, DUH); you have to consult the proper augurs and perform the correct chant to summon the Drive-o shuttle, which is apparently the only one that can take you to Ace Rentals. The kicker is that in some cases, YOU have to CALL THEM directly so they'll deign to send a shuttle to the P4 air train stop to pick you; it's (sometimes) on demand, not automatic. We waited 30-40 minutes in the Summer heat for the blasted thing to show up, kinda like Waiting for Godot but more depressing somehow, and finally called in and were told "yeah, we'll send a guy". Finally, IF and only IF you have followed the right steps, uncovered the secret Easter Eggs and solved the right riddles along the way...you're finally, blissfully rewarded with a dropoff at the fabled Ace Rent-a-car lot in the middle of nowhere. Which, even by low-cost car rental standards, looks like a bit of a trash-heap. Need a restroom while you wait for your vehicle? No problem, you'll just need to exit their office building, walk across two parking lots, and enter an outhouse with no locks and a toilet that takes three attempts to flush (should you feel charitable towards the next user). Meanwhile, there is only ever one person behind the desk for renting out cars - no matter how long the line (though again, given the sheer difficulty of getting here, I doubt it's ever more than 5-6 people deep). The gentleman we met tried to give our car keys to the wrong customers, but luckily we knew which car we were renting and were eventually given the keys to it. To be fair, it's our own fault for giving this place our business in the first place. There were barely any available rental cars for the weekend in any of the surrounding car lots. The only place with cars to rent was this one here. Kinda like the suspiciously empty subway car, when every single other option is completely full. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Or proceed, and Abandon All Hope, Ye Who Enter.

    The Parkinglot guy had to go through and do an inspection of each vehicle before handing the keys to each customer.

    The shuttle was a nightmare, trying to figure out and took it over to the car rental place then waiting in a line for one representative to help people and then waiting again for one guy to bring up each vehicle and then getting a vehicle that had three or four of its components, not working, including the car alarm was an overall horrible experience. The two guys working were nice and the shuttle driver was nice, but the whole Customer experience and the hoops we had to jump through was clearly not worth the savings of renting from a company that is offsite

    The check in process took about 90 minutes. Last thing you want to do after a long flight at an airport rental car center. It was brutal

    Super smooth experience getting and returning our Enterprise rental car at Newark Airport…read more Our flight was due in at 11pm but we landed late and luggage was slow so we got to Enterprise after 1am. A friendly employee was still there waiting for our flight's passengers to come through and had us sign a quick e-form. Unlike the airport employees who were not interested in helping us find our delayed luggage, the Enterprise employees (despite it being 1am) were friendly and accommodating! We signed a quick form with them. The Enterprise parking lot was empty - entirely cleared out - so they sent us to the next lot over, National (their sister brand). There were a handful of SUVs left and we were told to pick the one we wanted. We found a Chevy, all clean and ready for us. Turned on the heat, adjusted the mirrors, and we were on our way. I forgot to ask about the tollpass because we were exhausted at 1am, but found out later that we'd just be billed by mail for any tolls.

The car was dropped off Saturday evening April 4th. Upon returning the car in Newark, I had an excellent experience with this car rental service, thanks entirely to the outstanding support I received from Shanteeya. From the moment I arrived, she was cordial, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. What really stood out was how she handled an unexpected issue. I was given a car remote with a dying battery, which immediately added stress to my trip. Instead of brushing it off, she responded with empathy and understanding, acknowledging how inconvenient that situation could be. Shanteeya stayed calm, listened carefully, and quickly worked toward a solution. Not only did they replace the remote promptly, but they also reassured me throughout the process, which made a huge difference in easing my frustration. Their approach was truly solutions oriented, they identified the problem and made sure everything was fully resolved before I left. She, then, proceeded to support me with removing the car seat which had gotten stuck in the 2nd row. Going above and beyond like that isn't something you see every day. Because of their professionalism, kindness, and willingness to help, what could have been a stressful event turned into a positive experience. I'm very grateful for her support and would happily rent here again because of the exceptional service that was provided.

    0/10. I would not recommend Avis…read more I rented a vehicle for a work trip from June 15 (1:46 AM), picking up at PHL and returning at EWR on June 16 (2:44 PM). The vehicle contained a half-eaten burrito in the passenger door, a Gatorade bottle behind the passenger seat, and another bottle containing black liquid in the rear cup holder. I was then charged for 21,854 miles despite driving only 268 miles, resulting in a bill of $8,270.31. When I called on June 17, customer service representative Akilya told me a refund request had been submitted, estimated my corrected total at $179, and stated I would receive a corrected receipt by June 18. When I called again on June 19, customer service representative Pablo informed me that no refund request had actually been submitted, restarted the process, and provided a different estimated total of $199. As of June 21, I still have not received a refund or a definitive resolution. A dirty vehicle, an $8,270.31 billing error, conflicting information from customer service, and an unresolved case nearly a week after the rental ended make this one of the worst rental experiences I have had.

When I reached to rent my car with my mom on the wheelchair, extremely exhausted, and ready to head to the hotel. I can't explain the kind of service we were given by associates and Manager almost end of there shift. They had very unique names and beautiful, for sure I am going to mistype but Messiah (manager) and his associates were very patient and helped us out from getting the car, showing the best fit for my mom, that can be comfortable, yet convenient. We ended up renting BMW X7, beautiful car. It was little high for my mom to step up, but Massiah, went above and beyond, he went on search for a stepper so my mom can sit without any inconvenience. Also, he walked me through the car system, since it was my first time driving it. Their service didn't just ended here, while returning, they escorted us to the terminal, the associate didn't just dropped us but stayed there with my mom until I checked in and I had available hands to drive my mom's wheelchair. What an incredible experience and service. Thank you everyone who were patience and helped us out through getting our car and returning it. You gained my business, I'll be using your services whenever in EWR. Thank you :)

I have driven these cars to meet with clients and do some factory tours and no one thought it was any different than a traditional rental car. I honestly love Rent A Wreck, and Carlos the manager is the best. He is super helpful and really tries to go above and beyond to make his customers happy. I started using them when I was fresh out of college and wanted a cheap rental car. Years later, I still use them especially for longer rentals because it is significantly cheaper than Enterprise, Hertz, etc. When you rent at a traditional car rental company, you get brand new cars with super low miles. This company rents vehicles that might be a couple years old, but still have fairly low miles. They aren't trashed, messed up, or in bad condition. But it might be a 2018 car with 30-40k miles on it or a small scrape on a bumper or something, and for most people that is perfectly fine, especially considering the price. The cars are cleaned and all the paperwork is done ahead of time so you can just show up and pick up the car without any hassle. It's a great value for the price and Carlos always takes good care of his customers. I highly recommend giving them a shot - I'm super happy with my experience over the past several years.

The office is not where the cars are -- they put their cars in a parking lot, and YOU will pay a parking lot fee for every day you're renting the car, even though the car is not in the parking lot during your rental. Your final bill will be way, way more than the original quote, as they load it up with erroneous, unethical charges. I mean... my final bill was $160 more than the quote they'd given me, due to all the surprise charges they hit you with. Absolutely a scam and a rip-off. Stay far away.
