They have a great selection of espresso and will take the time to explain the flavor profiles to you if you are interested. That's good customer service for sure. They also include a little signs with a brief flavor profile description of each type. An added benefit is "Trompo" the pup that roams the shop. He's absolutely adorable and loves a good petting. I got a black cold brew and the wife got a caramel latte, both were good. The cold brew had great flavor and was well balanced. The caramel latte had an excellent caramel flavor but wasn't overly sweet.

Visited my nephew at the Navy and spot this lovely coffee roastere. The smell of the freshly roasted coffee beans welcome me and my family as we walk in the shop! I love the ambiance, the shop is clean and bright. Bathroom is an absolute clean. Employees are very nice and helpful. All of their beans recommendations are spot on to our drinks. Bought 8 lbs of coffee beans for family and friends back home. I still have my nephew bring back some of their coffee beans every time he comes home. Thank you.

Heard good things about Acento Coffee Roasters so I checked it out while I was in the area. Pros: -free parking lot- no issues -dog friendly! -good coffee. I tried the freddo and it was tasty -their staff were roasting the beans when I visited which was neat to see Cons: -I wasn't a fan of the pastry I ordered. I also found a metal piece in it :( Other: -there are a few tables/chairs inside and a lower table (priority for accessibility need)

Acento Coffee Roasters had been sitting on my "San Diego coffee hit list" for a while. I finally made it in after I ran out of my Bird Rock Coffee Roasters espresso beans and needed a fix. Instead of crawling back for another bag (god espresso beans I the way) , I figured I'd keep the mission alive: find the best espresso beans in San Diego. Acento is right outside the Liberty Station area in a little plaza that also has a Barnes & Noble. Translation: easy parking, zero circling the block like a vulture waiting for someone to leave. The shop itself is pretty big inside but minimal. A few tables, a few chairs, nothing crazy. It feels more like a place that takes coffee seriously rather than a place designed for people to sit for hours. The menu is simple: hot drinks, cold drinks, and a few flavor add-ons if you're feeling fancy. No 47-step latte recipes, no drinks that sound like they belong in a dessert menu. I ordered a Freddo -- basically espresso with a little honey and a splash of water. That's it. And honestly... respect. It was strong, you could actually taste the espresso, and it didn't come buried under half a gallon of milk and a mountain of ice like most coffee shops try to pull. None of that "coffee-flavored milkshake" nonsense. This was real espresso. The kind that reminds you coffee used to be a wake-up drink, not a personality trait. Bottom line: don't come here expecting foo-foo unicorn frappes or drinks that require a paragraph to order. Come here if you actually like coffee... and if you don't need it disguised with caramel drizzle and whipped cream to get it down. I'll definitely be back for a drink again but for now I will continue the ongoing, highly scientific research project known as "finding the best espresso in San Diego."

First time here and super glad we came! Tried their iced latte with cafe de olla and their freddo. The cafe de olla was the perfect amount of sweet and I adored it. They let me choose what roast and I went with Ecuador (it was the strongest one caffeine wise and I needed it). The freddo was also very good and was sweet and not bitter. This is a locals joint and it was great seeing so many people walk in and be greeted by the owner who was roasting beans there. The service was also tremendously friendly and helpful. There are a few tables inside to sit at. Also the mascot and owners dog may be there so make sure to say hi to him! Will absolutely be returning. This may be our new spot. They used to be closed on Sundays (for surfing! Which is very San Diego and I love it) but now are open every day of the week! There is plenty of parking as it's connected to the same lot used for Barnes and nobles.

Tried this for the first time today! Got a cold brew with a little bit of oat milk and it's delicious. The cold brew is so flavorful and smooth. Even without any added flavor I'm able to drink it without any bitter taste. I definitely want to try it with some of their syrups now. My only complaint is the store itself wasn't very inviting. The design choice is more aesthetic then and there isn't many places to sit. Will be back for more coffee but definitely a grab and go kind of place.

I visited for the first time and got a vanilla iced latte and it was great! The service was fast and the baristas were friendly and welcoming. The coffee shops dog was the cutest!! They had great music playing and the inside was comfortable and clean and very welcoming. Will visit again!

It's been a long time since I've been here and I heard that they moved into a bigger location so I wanted to check it out. The space is definitely bigger but the seating situation is still pretty limited. More of a grab and go place still. Menu is similar to what it was before but this time I decided to try something else. I wanted something like a latte but with less milk and they said they could just make a latte but add less milk. I think I was hoping for another type of drink recommendation. I also wanted something shaken like the freddo and they were able to shake my drink to make it frothy. They added honey which they said was "standard" when I asked but after I ordered I realized they charged me extra for the flavor. The whole ordering process was a little confusing but that might be more on me. Overall, this time I was more disappointed in what I got. If I came again I'd just stick with the freddo.

So nice to see new coffee roasteries popping up in my hometown, San Diego! Our trusty Yelp app brought my husband and me to Acento when we were between Sports Arena and Liberty Station areas. My husband and I were the only customers during our visit, so we were able to chat with the owner (and also our server) for a bit. We even met the owner's dog before he went for a walk, the same dog featured on the shop's wall art! My husband ordered a hot cafe de olla cortado while I ordered an iced honey cinnamon latte. I enjoyed my drink, but I didn't expect to love my husband's drink so much! Our drinks were made with their house coffee. The owner shared the story behind the roastery, its connection to Mexico, and that he's lived in San Diego for as long as I've been away. He even shared that their syrups and chocolate are produced either in-house or by friends. That grabbed my attention as I'd prefer house-made syrups over the manufactured stuff that come in pumps! Since we only had a few days to visit San Diego and more new coffee shops to try, we didn't have a chance to return, though we would've loved to be back. Don't sleep on Acento, no pun intended!

    Kristelle B.

Another good spot that does coffee well without the gimmicky aspects. They also roast their own beans and have in-house made syrups. We just opted for a simple flat white and it was very smooth and delicious. Seems like a known local spot and the staff were friendly. They also have a cute resident dog you may spot during your visit!

    Espresso and freddo first visit

The BEST quality beans and roast I have ever had... menu is simple but done EXCELLENTLY! I come from OC and every time I come to San Diego for school, I know I need to make a trip to acento. 2nd time here, such a staple... after being a die hard cafe/coffee explorer, this place is going to be my staple anytime I'm in SD. This is coffee at is core and done at its very best. My favorites are the freddo and just a good ole espresso. Not even sure how I can even recreate the freddo at home! Nobody does it like acento!

    Cafe de Olla
    Joey W.

Was in the area and wanted to check out a coffee shop so found this. It's tucked away in a very unassuming small plaza. There's a lot of parking which is always a plus! You order your drink and then get to choose your beans which I thought was cool! I don't know much about the beans so I had the barista pick for me. I got the Honduras beans with my latte. Latte with Cafe de Olla syrup ($6.75) - the latte wasn't too sweet which I liked. It was also pretty smooth.

    Melissa B.

Loved the quality of this espresso at acento! I had a delicious flat white with oat milk and the espresso was strong and smooth. There's an adorable pup that greets you as well!

This one was good but didn't hit as much as the funny business does for me, I feel like I've had stronger earl grey flavor matchas before. My friend got the "slow clap" matcha and said it was delicious too! Guava + matcha/chai + milk + guava cloud cream. I'd be very curious to try this as a chai since I've never seen a guava chai before! My parents got the "loose cannon" espresso and liked it but it seemed pretty basic/standard to me! Irish cream + espresso/matcha + milk + vanilla cloud cream. Seems ideal if you're looking for a good creamy latte w some cute green accents on top! They also got an americano and enjoyed it! $4 isn't bad for espresso + water and they said the coffee blend was good! Seems like the trend amongst what me and my friends have gotten is anything with a flavor and cloud cream is a delicious option. PASTRIES: I've also tried their strawberry orange loaf and it was perfectly moist with natural strawberry orange flavors, I would definitley be interested in trying more of their pastries! Ambiance is fantastic it's inside a giant plant store warehouse so feels like you're in a houseplant jungle while you sip on your morning coffee/matcha. Also gives you something to do since you can explore and window shop while you wait for your drink. They have lots of other cute cards and little Knick knacks lining the area to line up to place your order too so there's always something to capture your attention! Also a good amount of seating and you get to sit amongst all of the lovely plants and feel the fresh air! Service has been pretty fast every time I've come especially given how busy they've been on the weekend when I've come. (Albeit be prepared to wait 15-20+ min on a busy holiday weekend). When they're busy they'll have someone at the counter taking orders alongside someone on a tablet to speed things up. You get a text notification when your drink is done so no need to wait around the counter. There's also a little TV where names and estimated wait times are updated which is super convenient! Parking here is plentiful! There's a parking lot as well as tons of street parking, I've always been able to find parking within a block or two even on mother's day! Overall, I LOVE selva, the funny business matcha alone is enough to keep me coming back! Dare I say this may be my favorite / one of my favorite matcha place in SD! Their drinks are also super cute alongside being super tasty and their interior is so good!
