The shop itself was unbearably hot - like stepping into a sauna with no ventilation in sight. It was so stuffy and warm that I was sweating before I even got my iced latte. I have no idea why the manager was roasting coffee in the peak of San Diego heat. The decor was an afterthought, and the vibe screamed "I used to have my life together but now its just me and this sad couch" The only saving grace to this coffee shop were the two females working the espresso machine, very friendly and accommodating. A roommate had suggested that I check Accento out a while back and I just recently was able to come by. It was awesome! Great low key spot coffee spot that's centrally located close to Morena, Midway District and Bay Park! Coming in, the staff immediately welcomed us in and made conversation while we checked out their straightforward menu. We went ahead and ordered macchiatos. While we waited, we took in the aesthetic of the space and the roasting equipment before our drinks were brought out to us. The macchiatos were great! Really good flavor of the espresso with the perfectly steamed milk, with a side of sparkling water to heighten the macchiato. We really enjoyed our visit here and will be back again soon! read more

Flavor was full and delish you'd can tell the difference because the coffee beans are not burned. Guy really likes what he does. The price is fair for a latte which I ordered plain with no syrup. The only thing I didn't like is that with every additional thing it is an up charge 75¢. One price should include at least one pump of a syrup. Starbucks has this practice and is very successful. The whole milk substitute up charge Starbucks does this too, seems to me if you have a food allergy and or sensitivity. You get penalized for it. Such a lovely new coffee shop in Point Loma! As soon as you walk in, you will notice a bright and airy space with tall ceilings. They have a coffee roasting machine right in the front and they source their beans from South America! They offer everything from lattes, americanos, Freddos, etc. They also have seasonal drinks (this month's offering was a lavender based drink). Today I tried their half caff Freddo- which is espresso shaken with ice and honey. Wow, what an amazing, refreshing drink! The honey complemented the espresso perfectly. It was juicy, had notes of citrus, smooth, and well balanced. They also sell bags of whole beans with tons of different flavor profiles. The barista was super friendly and knowledgeable and helpful. She was very warm and kind and made you feel right at home. They have tables for you to sit and enjoy your drink as well as free parking in the back. This coffee shop has good basic coffee (I haven't tried their espresso drinks) and an adorable mascot dog. But what I really enjoy is their house-roasted coffee beans. The roaster machine is right in the shop, so you can see them at work. They have a good variety of single-origin beans, and the few I have tried are delightful. The cost is higher than others (compared to larger local roasters, like Bird Rock) but you can get a larger bag for a good discount. So far, they are my favorite coffee roaster in the county. read more

Select the coffee you want along with his house made syrup and milk choice (he has alternative non-dairy milks). And what's great is he's roasting his own beans and you can select the bean profile you want with your drink. This is a very hidden coffee shop located in an industrial area. I discovered it on Xiaohongshu this week and couldn't wait to check it out. My first impression of this coffee shop is a combination of industrial style and hipster vibe with minimalist design. You can really feel that they put a lot of effort into every corner of the cafe, even though it looks effortless. It's very interesting. I came here for the coffee. Their specialty is Italian espresso. The menu is not long, with only espresso drinks. I ordered a latte with almond milk and the barista asked me what kind of beans I prefer, whether I like chocolaty or fruity. I ordered the chocolaty one. I really really enjoyed the coffee freddo that I ordered! Double shots. Look at the foam, how rich and dense it is! The barista said they used Ethiopian beans for the freddo. It's truly a balance of acidity, bitterness, sweetness, and aftertaste. I first heard about coffee freddo when I was traveling in Italy. The Italian way of making it is to blend ice into a slushy texture and pour in the espresso. The taste is simply amazing! I haven't had any as good as that since leaving Italy. Acento's coffee freddo is really the best I've ever had in the United States! I will definitely order this again next time I come. The almond latte is also very good! Many coffee shops can't create satisfactory foam when they switch to non-dairy milk, and the taste can become strange. However, Acento surprised me again! The foam was dense, and the almond milk and espresso were perfectly balanced. It was gentle bitterness, sweetness, and aroma. I really like it! Acento essentially has take over the spot Claro Coffee was at recently before Covid-19. I had an Americano with steamed milk and it was excellent. The American offered a robust flavor yet is smooth and rich and a pleasure to drink. At the moment, they are using a local roaster such as Jaunt. Eventually, they plan to be roasting their own for in store use and packaging for sale. Service is great, the baristas and the owner were so friendly and informative of their coffees and roasting process which is done in-house. It is a coffee bar, so you choose your roast and then how you would like your drink prepared. We ordered a cortado with the Honduras beans and an oatmilk latte with the Veracruz beans.
