The shop is small, but room for seats. They play music which was a little loud for me. Small, quaint, and local. Can't believe this shop is right up the street from my house and I've never been. Some friends from church recommended it and I'm super glad I took them up on the invite. It's got great, local coffee shop vibes, the baristas who I'm guessing were the owners were really nice, and my drink (Kakawa Latte/Dark Chocolate with Coconut) was awesome. Parking seems tough but there's actually plenty if you drive around the block, leaving you a short walk. If you're lucky, you could find a spot literally right in front of their entrance. This is a cute little locally owned coffee shop in the Point Loma/Ocean Beach area of Nimitz Boulevard. The space is nice and clean and they had a small assortment of baked goods available. There's very little seating inside so we sat at the little makeshift table outside while we waited for our coffees. I thought it was kind of strange that they called out the coffees as they were done separately, even though my fiancé and I ordered them at the same time. My latte was done a few minutes before his Americano. The latte was good, standard. His Americano took a couple more minutes after my latte. He asked to have a little bit of milk added, but that milk must've been ice cold because his Americano was lukewarm instead of hot. Maybe the water added to the espresso shop wasn't hot? On our first morning, before the conference, we stopped by a bakery first and then headed to Kakawa Coffee for coffee. I spent $5.50 on an americano and then once I finished it, I asked if I could have just another half cup of house coffee and I got charged another $3.75 for coffee. I was told it's because it's organic coffee. Actually, if she had just filled my cup half way and let me know that next time I'd have to be charged for it that may have been customer service and that may have brought me back here, but I'm out. With gratuity, charge for 2 coffees ($10), and Avo toast, I spent $30 bucks. That seems a bit excessive for a coffee stop. read more
