Small, quaint, and local. Can't believe this shop is right up the street from my house and I've never been. Some friends from church recommended it and I'm super glad I took them up on the invite. It's got great, local coffee shop vibes, the baristas who I'm guessing were the owners were really nice, and my drink (Kakawa Latte/Dark Chocolate with Coconut) was awesome. Parking seems tough but there's actually plenty if you drive around the block, leaving you a short walk. If you're lucky, you could find a spot literally right in front of their entrance. I loved it and I'll be back. Already have!

Aesthetic small coffee shop with a few seating available. I felt rushed at the order counter from the lady. After our orders though she asked how we liked our drinks. The drinks were a little dark for me. I wanted to venture out and try new things. This place is worth a visit. Their Arabian Mocha is my favorite. I ask for it half sweet with oat milk. It's always spot on. If you like sweet and can drink regular milk I would go for the full-bodied version. I often make Kakawa a stop on my bike ride from North Park. The drinks at Kakawa are rich, flavorful and I can taste the quality in the beans. Their selection of desserts and pastries are wonderful. The staff are welcoming and the vibe is worthy of a long sit-down with a quality cup of coffee between bike rides.

Great quality coffee, well balanced, rich taste in a relaxing atmosphere, good music and smiles all around. Recommend the Mocha's...especially the Arabian Mocha for something more unique

I tried the iced Kakawa coffee and I liked the coconut flavor in it. It's not too sweet so the coffee flavor is strong. It was good but I'll try something else next time. The service was nice. The ambiance was casual and seemed like a good place to work or meet with friends. On the quieter side.

First time here. Sweet little spot in Point Loma. Very friendly staff. I tried their coconut matcha and I was not disappointed. It was not sweet, coconut flavor was very strong-borderline overpowering but I personally liked it. It was not mind blowing, but it was refreshing. Will definitely come back and try their coffee at some point.

We stopped at Kakawa before heading up to Long Beach, and it was the perfect pit stop. The staff were so kind, and the coffee was just as great. The vibe was so relaxed that I wish we had more time to hang out and soak it in. Definitely a spot worth stopping for.

Really great coffee this morning! This is a great spot walking distance from me now and I'll definitely be here regularly. Staff was friendly and nice and both of the coffees we tried were great. The Arabic Mocha had cardamom and wasn't just the same old coffee you can get anywhere. Also they had a live band in for the morning who were great!

We got so many good pastries and drinks. I loved the chai latte with almond milk and the coffee cake was to die for.

The service is great and very friendly. The menu was simple and I love that at coffee shops. I had the dirty chai with an extra shot of espresso. The chai was spiced, not overly sweet. The espresso was good quality and pulled very well.

Stopped here with my girl after reading some of the other reviews. She got a seasonal winter drink and I tried the Kakawa Latte. Both were exceptionally well done. The service and the atmosphere were perfect for a quiet morning enjoying the view from outside. We will definitely be making this a regular spot on our trips to San Diego. Thank you again!

Cute coffee shop where I discovered what the chagachino was! Nice place in Voltaire Street to get a coffee and spend a quiet time after visiting the farmers market around the area. Good vibes and that air of mom and pop shop that you feel like supporting every time you are in the area. No people with laptops and possibility of have real conversations smelling the aromas of rich coffee.

Walking distance from the Gallery row, in a small traditional house, a chocolate aficionado paradise. Ice cream is dense and rich. Chocolate candies delicious. Flavor hot Chocolate to warm you up in cold days.

Lazy Eye to the rescue! Lazy Eye is sandwiched between two buildings with one table out front. It's a to-go place. When you're that close to the beach, who wants to be inside anyway? While they do offer regular brewed coffee, I'm pretty certain their specialty is all the delicious frou-frou coffee drinks. I usually don't go for them, but today, I was in the mood for it. Their milk chocolate mocha with light ice was delicious It made me very happy and our pup was super happy with the treat they gave him. They have a small bakery display which I passed on since we were getting brunch soon, but I'm sure there's something for everyone there. This location is open 7 days a week- 6:30am-1pm. Limited street parking as expected...it's Mission Beach. 5 stars! Check them out!

The staff here are incredibly kind and personable. They make everyone feel like a regular, even if you are just visiting the area. One of the best parts is their creative latte menu. The flavors are made in house and they rotate them seasonally, so there's always something new to try. I had to go for the banana bread latte because it sounded so unique, and it was amazing. Seriously so good and perfectly balanced. Such a fun little pre beach walk coffee stop with friendly staff and creative drinks.

In the early afternoon, this place had a line, which is a good sign. The line moved quickly but also gave me time to study their menu to see what I wanted. They specialize in Hawaiian style drinks, so I settled on a Hawaiian matcha. The guy taking me order was super sweet and friendly. I was wearing my favorite Monterey Bay Aquarium sweatshirt and he commented on how that aquarium is one of his favorites! Me too! He asked me what was my favorite thing about the aquarium and I told him the sea otters. I asked what his favorite was and he said the jellyfish exhibition and omg that was soo good! I remember being at that exhibit for awhile as the jellyfish light up and there are so many kinds and so cool to see how they move! In any case, it was so nice to talk about an aquarium we both love!! The Hawaiian matcha was great! I love that they used their Hawaiian syrup in my drink. The drink was pricey, so with oat milk substitution, and a tip, it came to $10. But, think of it this way, you are also using their beautiful facilities and you can lounge here and do work, read, spend some time here. The place is massive, with tons of seating inside (its all open space, so a nice ocean breeze keeps coming thru), and lots of seats outside too! I LOVE THIS PLACE!! I will definitely be coming back here and next time, gonna bring some work and books to read and post up here!!

But this time I ordered a cocktail instead of an espresso drink. CALAMANSI LOVE ($16) - gin, calamansi juice, simple syrup, egg white, perchaud's bitters. First and foremost, I am a gin lover (I'm a rare diamond in the rough). I also got it because I love drinking calamansi juice so the two will pair well for my taste. Drink was good but not strong at all. I'd get it again if I need something to sip on while slamming the mahjong tiles down.
