In many American Native cultures the bow and arrow symbolized an embodiment of magic as given through the spirit world. These days the bow and arrow has truly evolved. The compound bow is what we ended up taking home vs the recurve bow. The compound bow allows the user to draw with more control and less weight as you use it. The compound bow is truly better at accuracy than the recurve bow. Most individuals start on a recurve bow and graduate to a compound bow. The consistency of the compound bow might seem more complex it's easy to master with practice. A good shooter is known for their aim. Archery is a great sport! Since watching The Lord of the Rings and Hunger Games, this catapulted my desire to get in on a new hobby. It does require a lot of discipline, mental strength, and focus. I wanted a safe environment and found Aces & Arrows Archery in Henderson. Not only is the staff professional, but the space is very clean and organized. Their facility is near interstate 515, major cross street is Warm Springs, and they're on the corner of Gibson and American Pacific. It's an immediate left turn towards an industrial building, and there's sufficient parking available. To fully embrace and appreciate archery, it's good to start with the basics. Pricing is $35 per person for a one hour lesson. They don't accept walk-ins, so call first to make an appointment. Prior to class, they did ask me to do a simple activity which determined my dominant eye. Marcus was the instructor I was assigned to and he is fabulous! The instructions are clear and concise. They place emphasis on safety, proper handling of bow and arrow, and having the right posture to aim. So if you follow the instructions well, you'll surely hit the target! What I love about this facility is that it's family friendly, and the staff members are polite, courteous, respectful and welcoming to all skill levels. They do offer a bunch of cool merchandise and awesome clothing. Eventually I will get my own recurve bow to practice on. This is a satisfying sport for all, it's relaxing and will make you feel strong. The atmosphere is nice for dates, they have an area for groups, and for kids age 7+. I am brand new to archery and on a whim decided I wanted to take on a new hobby. I have been going to Aces and Arrows for a couple of months now. I bought a set of 8 lessons with Rusty. Rusty has been a terrific teacher. To a person every staff member I have come in contact with at Aces and Arrows has been incredible. They are all knowledgeable and readily available to help guide you through purchase and set up of all the different equipment you need to participate in the sport. Though technically Rusty has been my coach all the other coaches will give you tips and guidance as they watch you on the range. AJ the owner could not be more helpful and accommodating. You can feel his passion for the sport as he sits and discusses all the different equipment choices with you. The range is great, with enough lanes to accommodate many archers. If you are new to the sport I highly recommend their patient, caring and talented coaches. The store is well equipped and I have not had to wait more than a couple days for any custom work. I have only been going a couple months and already feel a part of the Aces an Arrows family. read more

It is absolutely unreal how good the customer service is here. AJ and all the folks here will do absolutely anything to make sure your experience is perfect. Kara is the most patient and knowledgeable of archery coaches I have ever worked with. I really hate giving bad reviews but in this case I can't tell you how disappointing I was with some of the people working at this business. I was recommended to them by fellow archers and I called them looking for a specific piece of equipment they said they had them in stock. I told them I would be there the next day. when I got there they advised they were out. Could they have sold them that fast? They showed some other types of the same kind of equipment and although I felt I was being up sold, but bought it anyway (my mistake). When everything was installed, I wanted to try it out on their range and they had the audacity to charge me to use the range. Really? I just spent hundreds of dollars on equipment and they charged me to shoot about 15 arrows on the target! I love this sport and like everyone else, spend money to upgrade and replace equipment from time to time but I don't trust them and will not be spending anymore money in their store. But they won't care about this review because they will find some other unsuspecting person to take advantage of. read more

I came back after over two years to shoot bows and the service wasn't that great. I remembered Rusty who is still there but it seem that he's paranoid of people stealing or having their items that I said I purchased, not stole from him. Great place and good helpful staff. I started out in archery a year ago, and this was the first shop I went to visit. I compared and shopped around, but Rusty and AJ hit a home run in customer service and training. After a year, I am very confident in my archery capabilities and confident to execute on a shot. Let me start by saying I used to be a huge fan of this place, but unfortunately I'm just not anymore. As much as I love Ryan and Kara, it pains me to write this review. These days after the last three times going in there and feeling unwelcome & uncomfortable(mostly by a specific person) and feeling majorly nickeled and dimed, I more than likely won't be coming back anytime soon. It's a shame since you have a gorgeous shop and facility (although range needs some lighting) I really hope this can be constructive. First, for as much money as I've spent in the shop for various things, not getting any included range time was a big negative as I've come to find out another shop would have given me a whole year included with a major bow purchase or a month with any bow purchase. A range is a fixed cost, giving range time just guarantees more foot traffic to buy more accessories. I would have never even stepped foot in another range had I had range time here. Secondly, don't make promises and under deliver. There was two or three situations of this. Waiting almost a month for some arrows to be made when you had the shafts on hand is unacceptable. I've never waited more than a week anywhere else. I was given the excuse that because they are "hand fletched" it takes this long. Another pro shop in town has a big wheel that spins making it take just about an hour if they aren't busy. I literally waited 19hours for a set of arrows at another pro shop. I understand you guys are busy, but some efficiency in the area such as building a wheel to do a dozen at once would save you guys time. Thirdly, It really sucks not finding a place to sit in the range for a few minutes cause little Joey brought his whole family to watch him shoot for a few hours. Not to mention the range could use a little more lighting, but overall great range. Forth, stop nickel and diming people. Charging $10 to use the range then adding a $1 per target when no other range I've been to does this. Why not just include ONE target? It literally costs about 25cents. Also, nobody told me there was going to be labor on my arrows, but there was when I got the bill. Again, other shops include this when you buy from them. Some of the accessories are over MSRP pricing. There were a few accessories in the shop I seen going for over MSRP by $15. My scope setup if I recall was $25 over MSRP when I checked. I'm happy to pay retail to support a local business, just not over retail. I also felt I was forced to keep an accessory for my bow even though I wasn't happy with it 5mins after trying it on the range. It's also not worth charging $5 for say a new d loop or a kisser when that customer is in there all the time cause they will find somewhere else to spend the $$ in your shop! Some positives is that most of your staff is super friendly and has a great attitude. I appreciate that you have snacks, drinks and ice cream available and a big couch in the lobby. You also stock a good selection of everything. The range is nice although could use some better lighting. One thing to also think about it making a work area where a customer can see their bow being worked on. Going behind a wall and us not seeing what's going on isn't very confidence inspiring. Even the big box stores are open like this. I recently bought another $2k bow at another pro shop and was given the option to come in and watch my bow be built. It was quite the customer experience and gave me confidence the tech knew what he was doing and it was just cool to watch. I know every customer may not want that, but it could earn you some brownie points. I should also mention another shop had to tie in my peep sight, adjust my cable guard and redo my sight as the 2nd axis was off. Hopefully this helps you make some changes to better serve customers as I don't like to bash without giving constructive criticism. read more

The friendly staff at Aces & Arrows made me feel welcome and treated me like family. I came the first time just to watch my son set up his new bow. Since shooting is more fun than watching, I rented a bow a few times and made progress under their watch. I have enjoyed it so much that I had them set up with a new Hoyt hunting bow. I went here on a recommendation from a friend last year. Met with some of the staff and took a bare bow class with Marcus. A week later, a compound class with Reed. The following couple of weeks were a little range time and speaking with Sean and Rusty about my bow purchase. Once the details were ironed out, I pulled the trigger. Rusty built some really good arrows for me and I was off and running. I try to make it in weekly to the range. The staff is incredibly fun, professional and knowledgeable. They will answer questions, provide feedback and even offer advice if you are having an issue you can't sort out whether it's equipment or technique. Met AJ (one of the owners) and he's no different that his staff. They make shooting fun and educational at the same time. Marcus and Reed were excellent as instructors and really take the time to teach you. The range is 20 yards and clean. They have a pretty wide selection of equipment and accessories and will work with you and tailor things to your specific needs, wants and goals. If you're looking for a range or want to pick up the skill set of shooting a bow whether it's recurve, compound, Mongolian etc and regardless of whether you just want to have fun shooting target, prepping for hunting seasons or competing, Aces & Arrows has you covered. First time archer. Rusty was my instructor. Lessons are a must for a newbie, especially if you'll be using their equipment. Truly enjoyed my time with Rusty, he's easy to understand & made the lesson fun vs me feeling like an idiot. Their shop/lobby area is quite spacious, real clean, & all the staff are real friendly. First lesson cost me less than $40!! This included the equipment rental & about an hour of one on one time with the Coach. Family friendly place; minimum age for kids to shoot is around 8 years old. So after my last review I was hesitant about trying them out again but i was in the market for a new bow and our options are pretty limited here for bow shops so I figured I'd give it another go. Well what can I say.... my whole outlook on this shop has changed and would highly recommend them to anyone.
