Random choice driving around the lake. The smell in the parking lot of the food cooking told us we made a good choice. I had the surf and turf (tips and pan seared scallops) and my wife had the fried scallops. All were very good. Only complaint was a loudmouth at the bar. read more

The absolute best around. We are so glad we found this hidden gem and will continue to go back every week. Their burgers are absolutely to die for, the specials are always phenomenal, the wait staff is top notch and very personable. As a family we now swear by Ackerly's and gladly make the drive down from Wolfeboro. Other restaurants around the lake don't have that small town New Hampshire feel anymore, you can always count on Ackerly's for a delicious meal in a friendly environment. My husband and I decided to try this restaurant for the first time based on many of the reviews written here. We were not disappointed. We had a hard time trying to decide what to order as everything on the menu looked wonderful. We watched many of the plates being carried out to other diners and everything looked delicious. My husband ordered a delicious scallop and pesto plate and he absolutely enjoyed every single bite. I ordered a fried lobster plate which was outrageously tasty. Service was good. The place was very busy because it was a Friday night but our waitress was very attentive. I absolutely would recommend this restaurant and I look forward to making this a regular spot. read more

Breakfast is a fairly simple meal, but when a place misses a few easy fixes...it's a little frustrating. We stopped here & our meals were OK. I had sausage gravy & biscuits with home fries, and hubby had the standard platter (eggs, toast, bacon, home fries). Nothing was actively bad, but nothing was good enough that I would say this is a great little breakfast joint. Eggs weren't really scrambled very well & toast was cheap food service bread. And no jam/jelly on the table. Yes, I'm sure we could've asked for some, but why should we have to? If you're going to do breakfast, figure out the basics! On the plus side, they serve bloody Mary's for $5 & the sausage gravy was damn good. Not impressed. I had tried them once before when they first opened and they had lots of problems that night. But I decided to try them again tonight to see if things were any better. Much to my disappointment things have not gotten better in my opinion. I ordered the seafood risotto and while there was plenty of seafood in the dish, it was not a risotto that came with it, it was just plain rice. My husband and I tried Ackerly's in Alton last night and we liked it very much. It was very busy, but we were still able to get right in. The atmosphere is cozy and casual. Our waiter, Joshua, was great. I had a cup of the lobster bisque, a side caesar and the salmon with honey ginger. Awesome! Even though I had to have the bisque re-heated, I will be ordering it again the next time we go in! Amazing! My husband had a garden salad, the grilled swordfish with basil and tomato sauce and loved it! We both had, for our two sides, the garlic mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. The only issue that I had was that my dinner could have been a little hotter. But...not a big deal. We'll be back! read more

First time here and the food was amazing. Fresh seafood hand cut seasoned fries. Me and my wife both enjoyed our meals I had the fish and chips she had the seafood trio. Scallops were delicious as well. 5 dollar bloody mary special on Sunday too!. Will definitely be coming back. Hopefully for wing night! Service was good. Local craft beer selection also awesome. Met for dinner with 10 friends. We've eaten here when they first opened. Since we meet as a group almost every month, a different restaurant each time is part of the adventure, we decided to go back to Ackerlys. Josh was our server. He made sure none of us were left waiting or wanting. The specialty drink was a banana split martini. All but 3 of us enjoyed them. Entrées at our table: Shrimp Scampi, sweet shrimp, great sauce. Meatloaf, tasty, nice gravy. Cobb Salad, good variety of veggies and lettuce. Chicken Broccoli Alfredo, good portion, tender tasty chicken. The Mix Grill, chicken breast, beef tips, shrimp. This was the dish I had. I love ordering a Mixed Grill when I want a variety. I am almost always disappointed. The Mixed Grill here was the best I have ever had. The Tips were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Chicken was flavorful and tender. The shrimp was tender, delicious. Followed by dessert. All great. You won't be disappointed read more

Went on a Saturday night. Sat on the patio, which was great as it was Bike Week. I had a Mojito (8.00) which was delicious and fresh. They were out of the pretzel appetizer, so we had no starter. The asiago rolls were delicious. My boyfriend had the seafood trio, which he thought was pretty good (19.00); I had the lobster mac and cheese (13.00). The lobster mac was really good. Better than most restaurants around especially for the price and the service; it comes with a smile. I had the burger for 8 bucks. Very good. Got there for the end of happy hour and ordered a dirty martini and the stuffed mushrooms. The stuffed mushrooms were normally $9, but during happy hour were $4.50. They were amazing! The martini was $3 off during happy hour which was great! It's a very homey place with a nice vibe, too. I am one who likes atmosphere while enjoying dinner and will pay more for the feel. Went to Ackerlys last two times...you'd think I'd learn. My husband ordered the turkey with mash potatoes and gravy. Needless to say not happy with it told them to take it away didn't want a new one. So I tasted it to see... well he was right turkey was pink inside and the quality wasn't good! You would think they would listen to their customers!!! Whom ever is cooking don't really understand the process quality and presentation. I ordered ribs the last time the quality and prep wasn't good. There isn't too many restaurants in the area close by!! So we have decided just to eat at home!!! read more

We tried Ackerly's tonight for the first time based on the suggestion of a neighbor. The waitress, Ashley, was friendly and helpful during our entire dining experience. We both started with garden salads that were crisp and fresh along with some fresh rolls with butter. As our main entrees we had the turkey tips and the baked stuffed shrimp. Both were outstanding and obviously fresh. While we were full, everything was so good we had to try dessert which was equally fresh and tasty. They have ladies paint nights on Thursdays and also happy hour specials. We will definitely be back and would recommend this spot to anyone! read more

We're staying at Crystal Lake and went to Ackerly's last night frankly not expecting anything exceptional from the reviews. We were proven wrong, the place is great and we're pretty picky. We had: sauteed mussel appetizer - these were cooked just the right amount of time in a delicious broth (presumably the dish involves steaming in addition to sauteing) bison burger - with onions mushrooms, swish cheese, sauteed kale. Perfectly cooked medium and really delicious. Half roast chicken - a small roaster again cooked perfectly so that the meat was firm and gamy without being either under or overcooked. Sides where grilled asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes (clearly home made from red bliss potatoes), both excellent. The spice rubbed on the skin gave the bird a great flavor. Turkey tips sauteed with peppers onions and mushrooms and a side of the sauteed kale. Again excellent. For dessert we had a fruit cobbler (blue berries, apple, strawberries, ice cream and whipped cream) that was enough for the 3 of us and an exquisite mix of tart and sweet (very light on the "dough" which was probably oat based). In short there wasn't a miss on the food, and it was prepared with an uncommon skill and taste. Not at all what we were expecting, but a very pleasant surprise. One of us had a mixed drink that was light on the alcohol, another beer on tap that was fine. We were there around 8PM and there was only one other party in the place. The service was excellent. Overall the bill was $64. We will definitely go back when in the area. read more

Finally tried this local Restraunt! I traveled numerous times through Alton Bay and noticed that there was a large number of autos in front. Finally tried and was very impressed! A small Restraunt with great waitstaff! I was there on their wing night which each week the choices of wings change except for the buffalo type which is there every week. The fish is very good especially the baked haddock which was excellent ! The onion soup is the best I have tasted state wide at many different Restraunt's that i visit. I have enjoyed this great soup many times here since and look forward to sitting down and enjoying a nice meal again after this serious medical crisis is over! I really miss Ackerly's!!!! I would have given this restraunt five out of five if the steak tips i had ordered at one of my visits were something to tell my friends about which they were not; stick to the seafood and you will not be disappointed !! My Husband and I went here for breakfast on Saturday August 29th for the first time. We were not satisfied. The portions were small for the price and the killer was when I went to eat my toast with my eggs, there was mold on it. I brought it to the servers attention right away and to make sure the chef does not serve anyone else with that loaf. My bill was adjusted for 4.99, equal to the side of pancakes we ordered. On Fathers Day took entire troop for an upscale dining at affordable prices....smoked prime rib with grilled asparagus, delicious! Another member had the biggest lobster roll, no lettuce just meat!
