Chicken is cooked to order so had a short wait but staff kept me posted on food and was very kind. Turkey Wings Tender and flavorful, the turkey wings are slow-cooked until the meat falls off the bone. They were seasoned with a blend of herbs, garlic, onion, then baked to perfectoon. The meat was juicy. The gravy elevated the flavor and added a comforting richness. Fried Chicken Crispy on outside. Each bite offered a perfect balance of crunch and flavor. Cabbage & Collards Both the Slow-cooked collard greens and cabbage was seasoned. The collards appeared to be cooked with smoked ham hocks and the cabbage was without meat but both melt-in-your-mouth. Jasmine Rice Fluffy, fragrant jasmine rice served so well with the turkey and then topped with the gravy took it to the next level. Potato Salad Creamy and cool, the potatos were cooked just right and perfect blend of mayonnaise, mustard, eggs, chopped pickles, and celery or onions. Mac & Cheese Flavorful, homemade and cooked exceptionally. Peach Cobbler Warm, sweet , not very fruity, and comforting.

The chicken itself was excellent. It was incredibly juicy, perfectly fried, and had a great crispy coating. My only issue was that the breading felt like it was missing a little something, maybe more seasoning, pepper, or some extra flavor. Growing up with places like Gus's Fried Chicken in Memphis and Nashville hot chicken, I think I naturally expect a little more punch from the chicken itself. The sauce they serve is more of a barbecue style sauce, and while it worked, I personally didn't love it enough for it to carry all the flavor. The sides were a mixed bag. The collard greens were really good and definitely one of the highlights. The coleslaw, though, was way too pepper heavy for my taste. Also, the piece of bread that comes with the meal was honestly not worth the calories. I'd rather see them either upgrade the bread or skip it altogether. One unexpected highlight was the pebble ice from the drink machine. Small detail, but it was awesome and definitely appreciated. Overall, I'd come back and try some different sides because the chicken itself is worth returning for. With a little more seasoning or some different sauce options, I could see this being a 5 star spot.

Now, imagine driving there around 2 in the afternoon (regardless of these high gas prices, today) with hopes that they are still open and serving the public only to discover the doors shut and locked as if it was after-hours! THAT was my first (and last) experience here at this particular, so-called soul food establishment. What a waste! C'mon, some of my people have GOT to start doing better ....otherwise, just go bankrupt and close it down, already, and let someone who truly IS business-minded come upon the scene next time around. The last thing ANY community needs is an eatery that's only open when its owner feels like it.

Greens were canned, and tasted a little bitter. Mac-n-cheese was homemade and very good. Corn bread was the sweet kind, which is not my favorite, but if you like your cornbread sweet (like a cake), then you might like it. I was there during lunch today, and only 1 person came in to place a "to go" order. Man that took my order was friendly and helpful. I asked about several of the sides, to see if they were homemade, and most weren't.

I would recommend reservations for a party of our size. They do have outdoor seating, but inside is tight. Our waitress was (Lauren) , she was amazing. She helped us get settled along with what I think was the manager? They both got our Grandaughter situated in a high-chair and moved a table next to ours so we had some space. We started with fried pickles, they were perfect & the dipping sauce took it over the top. Our young one loved them. We all enjoyed our entrées from fried chicken to grits. We shared and all had a taste of all that was ordered. No complaints Going on 7pm & I am still full. High-lights was the chicken, potatoes were delicious, French toast, mac/cheese, okay pretty much everything was delicious. Lauren and all the crew we came contact with were awesome.
