District 924 is everything you want in soul food -- rich flavors, welcoming vibes, and prices that don't break the bank. I had the dark meat fried chicken with collard greens, a fresh side salad, and mac & cheese that was honestly unforgettable. The chicken was fried to perfection -- crispy, crunchy skin that stayed put and juicy meat inside. The collards were seasoned just right, the salad was super fresh, and yes, the ranch passed the Midwest test. The mac & cheese was the real standout -- that perfect mix of creamy and baked that makes you want to order a second serving. On top of the food, the service was impeccable -- attentive without being pushy, and they never let an empty plate linger on the table. The whole experience felt elevated and stylish while still keeping the food soulful and comforting. If you love soul food (or even if you're just curious), you have to try this spot.

It was our first time at District 924, and we were truly impressed from the moment we walked in. We were greeted at the door and seated upstairs, where the space was simply decorated, and beautifully lit--perfect ambiance for a relaxing brunch. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, taking the time to offer recommendations and make sure we had everything we needed. We started with the salmon bites, which were fresh, well-seasoned, and paired with a unique, flavorful sauce that really set the tone for the meal. The mimosas were as cute as they were delicious--we couldn't resist ordering a second round! For my main dish, I went with the shrimp and grits, and I can confidently say they were the best I've ever had. Perfectly cooked shrimp, creamy grits, and a rich, savory sauce that tied it all together. Can't wait to come back and try more from the menu. District 924 is definitely a new favorite!

Salmon and grits. Quite tasty and filling to the stomach. : l

Food. Was delicious. Service was polite and the ambiance was nice. Salmon: I asked for crispy skin but perhaps with sauce it softened but it wasn't salty but very tasty and I would it again. Prices are reasonable.

Our first time at District 924 Soulfood and Cocktails. It was wonderful food and fantastic service by Sydney. Both meals had the creamiest grits, with a roasted garlic sauce, little pieces of chicken sausage and I had mine with fried flounder and my friend had shrimp. They have a great patio with sun and shade and a side street parking lot. They had drink specials on the chalkboard for $8. We both ordered the margarita. Sydney confirmed we wanted "lime margaritas". Yes. Apparently that translated to "top shelf" because we were charged $20 each. It was good but no kick. After the fact and reading other reviews, I realized they have a published dress code on their website, which I included as a picture. We only saw the patio and it was nice but not "fancy". I was in shorts, tee shirt and sandals with straps, so I was fine but you will want to read the code.

The server was extremely nice and attentive. She met us at the door and guided us upstairs to our seats. She was knowledgeable about the menu and gave great suggestions. The food was plated really nicely and tasted delicious. The indoor seating area is cute and intimate. Our food was brought out quickly too.

First time here. We will be back next time in this area. The cocktail Raspberry Patron splash was refreshing. The entire meal (Fried lobster, fried shrimp, Mac n cheese and collard greens were praise worthy. The service was lovely and food prepared without delay. Our server was very attentive. Her name was Ty! I'm a very satisfied customer.

I've been here many times and the food is always a 10/10. Literally what Luxe USED to taste like. Similar menus but this place takes the cake. The wings are a hit every. single. time. I always get a mimosa and the bartender is not stingy. The vibe is nice, I prefer to sit downstairs. Overall I have nothing bad to say about District 924. Check them out.

I finally made it to District 924 for Soul Food Sunday and it was just what I needed. I don't cook much fried food anymore but I was craving a good ole school Sunday dinner plate and tried them out. I wanted the deviled eggs for an appetizer but they were out for the day so the waitress recommended kaboom shrimp and they did not disappoint. They were cooked and sauced to perfection! For my entree I ordered the fried chicken(white) with yams, collard greens, mac n cheese, roll, and a side of pork chop(don't judge me ). I topped it off with the perfect Arnold Palmer and I danced and ate until my heart was content. They were very attentive and the place had a nice chill vibe with some good music for my enjoyment in the background. So, go ahead and stop by to see them.

Where have I been all this time??? This was the absolute best flounder I have eaten ... ever! And I am a coastal South Carolina gal. The greens were perfectly seasoned. My mother would have given them an AAA+, and the Okra was tender and lightly breaded... again outstanding. Even the roll was delish! The service was wonderful. I can't wait to go back!

Overall, our visit was fine. Theres plenty of space in the adjoining parking lot. The front patio looks great with plenty of tables to enjoy outdoor dining. The entrance is a little confusing. We walked in right in front of the stairs. No one greeted us so we weren't sure where to go. A guy finally came over to tell us it would be a short wait but then the actual hostess gave us the option to sit at the bar. The decor in the restaurant is really nice and elegant. The bar stools were comfortable and there was plenty of space. The service wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. The bartender was pretty busy so she wasn't able to check on us much, but it was clear she was trying. I wasn't a huge fan of all the conversations between the staff members. It was obvious they were having issues and weren't in the same page. The food was really good. I really enjoyed the red velvet waffles and the chicken was cooked perfectly. The collard greens were great and had a little kick. I would recommend a private party room. There was a very loud group downstairs. I know they were just having a good time, but it was almost impossible to talk. I'll probably give it another try, but it may be a take out order.

Nice southern flavor. The food was good; nice southern style and flavor. The macaroni and cheese wasn't the thick southern flavor I'm used to but it wasn't bad. The yams and greens were good. Salmon was also good with the teriyaki sauce but I did ask for Extra to get more of that sweet teriyaki flavor. Overall is was all good.

I have to say, the location was pretty good. You have plenty of parking and there is outdoor seating. The inside is pretty tight on the first floor. I was unable to see the second floor. The food was really good. I got the salmon and grits which came with collard greens. You can see from the picture that it was a descent size portion. Plus, the garlic bewad was a great addition. I didnt get any drinks. Yet, the drink menu had a nice selection. The drink must have been good because we constantly saw more and more drinks leave the bar. Speaking of the bar, and general staff, they could be a little more organized. While I didnt experience any issues, I heard very clearly from the bartender to the bouncer a power struggle for power. While there was a hostess, the bouncer initially tried to seat us. But then, the hostess after consulting the bartender sat us somewhere different. And the power struggle continued throughout the lunch. I would order the food here; yet I probably would not dine-in again.

The customer service was great. The staff checked on us throughout our meal and made sure we had everything we needed, which I always appreciate. I ordered the Salmon BLT (hold the bacon) on sourdough with a side of sweet potato fries, and oh my goodness it was so good! The portion size was very generous and definitely filling. The herbed mayo tied everything together perfectly it was *chef's kiss*! They also serve the sweet potato fries with a cinnamon butter for dipping, which was good. I also had a Caesar salad. It was exactly what you'd want from a Caesar salad fresh, flavorful, and another generous portion. If you're a fan of salmon and/or sandwiches, I definitely recommend giving this a try. Who knew a salmon sandwich could be this good? I'll definitely be back! There is parking off to the side though, it is very limited. Be prepared to parallel park !

On the host's recommendation we chose to go inside and sit at the bar. I had not been inside before as I usually opt for the outside seating so I was surprised to see that the interior was more roomy than I had imagined. Once we were seated, near the soothing water feature with a Koi pond, our waitress promptly took our drink orders and apologized for any inconvenience if we were waiting for table and service. Once we got our drinks they served us several orders of warm bread with several different butter choices. At that point, we ordered our main menu items. Service was prompt and went smoothly. We didn't have to wait very long for our food to arrive. The food was very good and there were no complaints from our group. I ordered Ahi Tuna salad. It was a large portion w the Tuna perched on top making an appetizing display. It was reasonably priced at $18, in my opinion, as it was a large salad and I wasn't able to eat the whole thing. Our group had a very pleasant, unrushed time at this restaurant and the host was always nearby and happy to answer questions and chat with us. This restaurant is one of the jewels of downtown 4th street. Stop in for a drink or a nice meal, you'll be glad you did.

First, the hospitality is top notch. Located in a historic home that sits in the National Register of Historic Places, the restaurant has a classic feel that is well accompanied by a very polite, welcoming staff. The food was spectacular. We ordered the bread service, with the add-on bacon jam and tomato tapenade. The bacon jam is good enough to put on anything and it will taste amazing. We also ordered a delicious Caesar salad to spit. Both were so good I didn't get a chance to take a picture before we started eating. For our main course, my daughter ordered the braised pork shank from the regular menu and loved it. The pork itself was ridiculously fork-tender and the candied cabbage was an incredible sweet counterbalance to the savory sauce. Easily a 9/10 dish. For me, I ordered the Duck, which was perfectly cooked (rare), a great sear, and seasoned incredibly. I was torn on whether the star of the dish was the duck or the accompanying Brussel sprouts. Regardless, a very solid 8/10. The restaurant was very kind to gift us dessert for our special occasion. I had a very happy 10 year old when she saw the dessert plate arrive. Overall, it was an incredible dinner with delicious food at a beautiful restaurant that made my daughter feel like a princess. Can't wait to return!

The Pear Ginger Fizz cocktail was great! Light and fruity. It didn't taste like alcohol at all which is my favorite type of cocktail the Bread Service came highly recommended and for good reason! The bread options were numerous, and the spreads were a great pairing. We definitely had our favorites - whipped goat cheese and pimento cheese. However, I think it's worth it to get all 4 and find your tastes! My main dish of the Braised Pork Shank was plentiful - so much food!! The meat came right off the bone. I wish the red cabbage was plated with the meal (it came on the side in a bowl), but otherwise, it was a splendid meal. It also made for great leftovers the next day! The blueberry limoncello crisp had such a good flavor combo! The lemon was on the more sour side, but I still liked it. The sweet cream is chef's kiss! The service was very friendly!! Our waitress was kind, and she checked in at good intervals. There were some weird changes in lighting throughout the meal. We wish the lighting had stayed dimmed in the room we were in, but it wasn't a huge deal. Overall, a great place and a great meal for a date night! My husband and I had a lovely time.

There was a 20 min wait and we were starving after a long travel day and eager to get to campus so we ate at the mediocre crepes restaurant next door instead. When we picked her up a week later I was prepared with reservations. However, when we checked in they told us they don't take reservations so it must be for their sister restaurant (oops) and the wait was even longer this time. One of the hostesses mentioned there would be seating clearing at the bar within minutes, which was good enough for us. We sat down 3 minutes later and ordered a few minutes after that. My daughter went for a cheeseburger which she happily ate stating that the food at Wake was NOT good all week. My husband enjoyed his turkey club and packed the other half for his flight later that evening (lunch and dinner). I went with the crab cake appetizer, which I thought was just OK. It was only a few dollars cheaper than the sandwich so I probably should have gotten that instead, but didn't want to be tempted with the bread and fries. We were in and out within 30 minutes, which I appreciated since we had a drive to Chapel Hill ahead of us. No other way to describe it. I also loved the fact they served it with warm and toasted bread pieces.....added another depth of flavor to the entire bite. Entire thing was filled with crab meat as well. I'm used moreso to the chunkier style of crab dip, if that makes any sense, but whatever they did to theirs passed my test. For our entrees, we both opted for burgers. I've been waiting something that isn't a smash burger for quite sometime. No disrespect to smash burgers, but I've been wanting a thick, hand patted burger and they delivered. I ordered the tavern burger with the medium cook and a side of fries. Burger cook was perfect. One thing I loved was that the actual patty had char marks on it & it added more flavor to it. Very juicy and flavorful. Their fries were solid too....crispy yet soft in the middle. My wife got their bacon jam burger with a well done cook and she raved about how juicy it was. The cook was to her preference as well. She wasn't too impressed with the pasta salad as a side, but she did get an order of sweet potato fries and they were great as well. Finished the evening with their carrot cake and key lime pie to go and they were both delicious. Their key lime may be the best I've had in this area. Our server Morgan was awesome as well. Very attentive and helpful with the menu suggestions and explaining the things she personally liked, along with what was popular with other patrons. Their setup is odd....not saying that in a bad way, but its an older building and the layout says that. We were seated very quickly. Again, Morgan was awesome and made sure we were taken care of. The ambiance was good....very apt for a date night. Didn't get the chance to check out any of the other dishes around, but everyone seemed pleased with the service and the food. Will be back again to try some of their other entrees.
