1/2 fried chicken, over baked potatoes, and cucumber salad.

The cucumber salad was a little oily, but still good. The fried chicken was almost as good as my Mama's! Yhe potatoes were perfectly flavored. Made 2 meals out of it, so cost effective as well! Would recommend this restaurant to anyone!!

I've been eating at this little restaurant for as long as I can remember. The staff here are always the sweetest and everything I've ever ordered off the menu is absolutely amazing. They offer breakfast all day long and they also have daily specials. No matter what you order from this place you will not be disappointed!!

Quickly seated during lunchtime, waitress addressed me quickly and got order fast. Chicken pan pie was good and filling, Mac and cheese was as expected and corn was good and not overly cooked or seasoned.

This quintessential neighborhood diner has been in business since 1977 when it was opened in this location by Gus Tsatsaronis, who immigrated from Greece 3 years earlier. There have been several expansions of the facilities, but the essence of the diner has remained the same - serve genuine home-cooked food 3 meals a day! The fare offered here is predominantly classic Southern with a few Italian dishes, and reflecting Gus' heritage, a few Greek specialties - Gyro, Chicken and Pork Souvlaki, Greek style Spaghetti, and the headliner, well marinated Greek Chicken (a Wednesday special, 1/2 chicken, 2 sides, for $9.90). The menu here is broad, and there seems to be value everywhere on it. The Breakfast Special is $7.55 - 2 eggs (you can request a 3rd egg at NO CHARGE), bacon (you can request it to be crispy), choice of Grits, Gravy, Home Fries, or Hashbrowns, and Toast or Biscuit. The Daily Specials offer real value as indicated by the Greek Chicken mentioned above, there are plenty more to choose from. The Fried Chicken here is as good, and as Southern, as it gets - very well-seasoned, and cooked to order, so it will take 20 minutes or so, and they will tell you that. They also have both a Senior Citizens and a Kid's menu with even more savings. This place is popular and was even visited by UNC TV food critic Bob Garner in May 2017, resulting in his seal of approval. The service is as good as the food, with a host of long-time wait staff available.

We had some errands to run and finally stopped into Clemmons Kitchen for breakfast. We were seated right away and provided menus. Our drink orders were also taken. The menu has a good variety of items to chose from and the prices are very reasonable. My wife decided on the meat lovers omelet with a side of gravy and biscuit. I chose the hamburger steak with home fries and toast. We also ordered a side of link sausage to share. Our server was very friendly and welcoming as well. Our food arrived in a timely manner and looked great. We each enjoyed our meals. My wife commented that her omelet was very good and there was a generous amount of filling. She didn't care for the biscuit and felt it lacked flavor. I enjoyed my hamburger steak and home fries and the sausage and toast were great as well. My wife visited the restroom and reported that it was clean and well maintained.

A charming local spot that is definitely beloved by the community. The staff is extremely friendly and kind. They were attentive and had suggestions for us to try. In the end we just stuck with good old breakfast. The menu was pretty extensive for a local diner sort of spot and I know we will be back to try more stuff. The dining room is open and bright. The food was good and came out fast and was very reasonably priced! All in all a great place to grab breakfast!

UPDATE: While I feel overall Clemmons Kitchen is around 3.5 stars from all my visits, lately they have been leaning towards 4 stars with past 3 star visits taken in consideration. The main factor is the food...as far as local diner type food expectations, they are pretty good. Their hamburger steak is a solid entry (recently got a 10 oz hamburger steak $8.99 dinner special with mushroom gravy that really had great hamburger taste), their fried chicken sandwich as well as their chicken tenders either fried or grilled are good choices, and a good cheeseburger with an order of crunchy golden fries can be found here as well. Service can be for the most part nice and helpful...while rarely I have had some less attentive servers, it is not the norm here. My most recent visits really have been better than those in the far past so even though I get that 3.5 star feeling here, I can go with rounding up to 4 stars with some pretty tasty diner type food and friendly service for the most part with recent experiences.

You could tell by all the people crowding both outside and waiting inside that Clemmons Kitchen was very popular with locals. We waited for 15 minutes at 1PM on Sunday, mind you they close at 2PM. But I would say that it was worth it. Being that we are recently from SoCal, we kind of stuck out a little bit among the locals I think, but were greeted warmly by both the patrons and the employees. We sat down at the 15 minute mark and were promptly waited on by a very friendly server who I didn't get the name of, but she was happy to share her excellent opinions of the food choices. I chose the Reuben, but she quickly pointed out that it was served with mustard and not Thousand Island dressing (not really a Reuben, but more of a corn beef sandwich), but I'll play along. The food came quickly and was hot and the sandwich was full of corn beef, sauerkraut and yes, mustard and not dressing. The fries were very crisp and tasty as well and I enjoyed both very much. I was happy with the lunch and the food and service.

    Same with green beans.

Food was pretty good but a little under seasoned. We got there around 1 pm, still pretty busy but quieted down fast. Huge serving of Chicken livers, the broccoli augratin was very cheesy but the rolls could stand a little more rising. Overall for the value it's well worth it. Staff was exceptionally nice.

If you have enough butter and sauces you can add some flavor, but a lot of the blandness remains, for me anyway. I've had seafood boils on the beach at Cape Cod, Hyman's Seafood in Charleston, and Willie's Boil House in the French Quarter, among others. And I was blown away by none. In a discussion with a friend, he disagreed with my position and suggested I give some local spots a try, and be very generous with all types of accompanying sauces, especially spicy ones, and don't skip the butter! So I am planning to try a few spots heading into the new year, starting with this spot. I ordered the weekend special, shrimp, lobster tail, and small crab cluster. This comes with potatoes and corn. This was not at all a bad meal, the shrimp were very tasty. The lobster tail was a bit chewy though the flavor was nice. The crab cluster produced some nice bits of meat, but this was a very small cluster. The veggies were just ok, on the dull side. While not all bad, this was very expensive and I would not come close to ordering this again - in fact I don't see a return visit, period!

I'm never disappointed when I visit Ms. Virginia and her friendly staff ar Forsyth Seafood Market…read moreand Cafe. Since I moved to Greensboro, I take every opportunity I can to stop in while visiting Winston-Salem to place an order just before hitting the road back home. On this day, the cafe was busier than I had ever seen it. There was a conference happening at Wake Forest University, and many of the attendees had selected Forsyth Seafood as their dinner (without calling ahead, I assume). The self-seating cafe is large and adorned with several tables and chairs, so it was well-equipped to accommodate the large group, plus other guests that was there to eat. In stellar fashion, the kitchen staff was taking and getting orders out to the cafe and their usual takeout patrons quickly. I ordered a 5-piece Catfish, an order of hushpuppies, and a small coleslaw via their website, and had less than 10 min. wait for my order, after they recooked my order (it had mistakenly been held too long when they didn't realize I was in the parking lot, due to the large group, not a normal occurrence). One tip that Ms. Virginia (the owner) gave me for longer road trips (over 40 mins.) was to, instead of ordering a pickup online, order at the counter, and then the fish will be fried and hot (instead of fried and sitting waiting on me to pick it up), which makes it even fresher by the time I get home. As usual, I arrived in Greensboro with 3.5 pieces of fish and 1/2 an order of hush puppies because I can never resist putting my fingers in the box and eating some (despite burning my fingers lol). My entire order was delicious, and I had enough for a second meal the next day. As a successful, family-owned and operated business, Forsyth Seafood Market & Cafe has been feeding generations of families delicious food for years. In addition, it has been a willing contributor in the Winston-Salem, NC, community for years. However, what speaks the loudest to me is its commitment to remaining in the community and maintaining a quality product and service. Forsyth Seafood Market & Cafe is definitely Kiesha Speech-approved. I recommend trying the whiting filets or the catfish filets, with some hushpuppies (or white bread, if that's your preference) and coleslaw. Don't forget the hometown original: Texas Pete hot sauce! ;)

It's definitely a local favorite. The restaurant appeared clean and sanitized, though the lobby could use some improvement to create a better dine-in experience. Your wait time depends on how busy they are, so I recommend calling ahead, especially during peak hours. The pricing is reasonable, and there are plenty of combo options to choose from. As for our order, the sides were hit or miss. I wouldn't recommend the gumbo, but the greens and sweet potato were good. We chose fried options, but non-fried selections are available as well.

Not only did I have the pleasure of trying this absolutely amazing dish, I had the pleasure of having leftovers. Let me tell y'all. This? This is food. This is where culture means Cajun. Ugly fish staring at me, but absolutely delicious. Crispy. Yummy. The boat had the BEST ceviche I've ever had the pleasure of devouring. Fresh, seafoody, and scrumptious. Pair this with crab, extremely crispy fried shrimp, oysters, more shrimp, and so many things I could write a post about just this item and still feel like it's not enough. Second, I have the House Sauce Seafood Boil. Now, this is just the prototype. They're also wanting to add sausage to this, make different types, as well as do a headless shrimp version. This was... What can I say? Delicious? Juicy? Scrumptious? What I do know to say is this: I'd buy it again. It was massive, it was filling, it was messy. When we first walked in, it was busy and we heard the hostess tell the couple in front of us they would need to wait over an hour for a table - Lucky for me my wife made reservations and we were seated immediately! Our servers, Thomas, was fantastic start to finish with good recommendations, attentive service without being overbearing, and a great personality. Good staff make a business shine! We started with glasses of wine and were impressed with how generous they poured. Perhaps it was a visual illusion, but they felt like very large glasses of wine and made it feel like a very good value. They have a good selection of wines to choose from along with a full bar. Appetizer was the Crab Cake Egg Rolls, something I don't think I've seen anywhere else. They're cooked in Beef Tallow which gave a very savory flavor and crispy texture. They were a bit on the oily side but overall flavor was delicious, and I really liked the dipping sauce which was like a very herb-heavy tartar sauce. For entrees, my wife had the Filet and I had a New York Strip. I don't have the words to describe how delicious and perfectly prepared both of these were. I didn't even bother asking for steak sauce because the perfectly tender and seasoned steak didn't need it. Nobody wants to pay high prices for a steak and receive something low quality, and I was thrilled with the quality of the steaks here. Surrounding tables likewise had great looking meals and I overheard them voicing pleasure too. As sides go, the baked potatoes and salads were excellent too. I got the hot bacon vinegarette dressing and was surprised it was actually served quite hot. It had a really rich and slightly tangy flavor that was unique and I really enjoyed on my salad. I have no complaints here and will absolutely be back. Of course it's on the pricey end, but this is the type of establishment you reserve for a special night out, not your average Tuesday night.
