The Acropolis is a classic Italian/Greek restaurant. I found it to be much more Italian than Greek. I really like the ambiance which reminds me of many Italian restaurants I grew up with. Faux painting on the walls gives the feeling of being in an old Italian restaurant. I had the Calzone which was awesome. These things are HUGE! I ordered the smallest size, 10", which could have fed two people. Or me... What makes this calzone so delicious is their incredible crust. As with pizza, the crust differentiates a truly great pizza from a really good pizza, and Acropolis' crust is absolutely wonderful. The calzone was stuffed with mozzarella and five items of your choice and a side of marinara for dipping. Their pizza features the same crust and tons of fresh mozzerella. Servings are huge and prices are very reasonable. They have a nice kids menu as well. read more

Completely disappointed! I used to love Acropolis and have not been in a while. First of all, if you have not called ahead you must place your order in the Ice Bar next door which has zero ambiance. Ordered a chicken gyro platter, lamb gyro sandwich and 6 garlic knots with marinara. When the order came out both entrees had lamb. When I told the server the platter was supposed to be chicken he said that was not what "he heard" and asked me if I would just keep the lamb for a discount. I told him I do not eat lamb and would need the chicken. So I waited along with the rest of my food while they replaced the lamb with the chicken. I checked the garlic knots and the marinara was not included. When I got the order home the tzatziki sauce for both entrees was not included with the order, and everything except the chicken was cold. What a waste of time and money. Never again. read more

We were visiting from out of town and went to have pizza. We ended up sitting in the Ice Bar next door and placing our order there whilst having an adult beverage. The pizza was excellent and we fancy ourselves connoisseurs of pizza. Service was stellar and we feasted on the generous, reasonably priced individual pizzas for 2 nights. Ordered online through my yelp account at 7:50, says food won't be ready until 8:49. Fine, no problem it's a Friday night. My partner was picking it up on his way home, he gets there & they are confused what order he's talking about so he calls me. I send him the confirmation/receipt email. He calls me back & says someone else picked up our order. How does that happen when it's under my name through my account? Can anyone just walk in & pick up an order with no proof of ordering or paying for it? Nonetheless, they offered to remake our food. Fine. He waits another 30 mins & he gets our food. No discount offered, which I truly think for the amount of time we waited & the hassle of figuring out how our order disappeared, should've been a courtesy. At least some garlic knots or something lol. Anyways, he comes home & lets me know the person at the counter was somewhat snarky & rude with him, acting like he was the one trying to take another customers order. On top of that, we were missing small things I paid for such as extra dressing for the salad & the salad was made with toppings I asked not be included. My wife and I love Greek food. While shopping in Asheville we can across this little gem of a place. I ordered the gyro platter and was impressed by the amount of food. My only complaint is that the gyro meat was over cooked and I had no internet service to check in. Neither of these very small issues would keep me from coming back. Definitely recommend! read more

My friends and I ordered the garlic knots, the Athena pizza, the penne with pesto cream sauce, and the vegetable lasagna, all to share. The garlic knots were okay, despite being extremely salty. The Athena pizza was also pretty good, and the penne was okay. The cherry on top was the lasagna, which tasted great, until I pulled a giant sheet of saran wrap out of it. We live a mile or so from here. There is lots of options for every picky eater in your home. The Caesar salad with salmon or chicken is always good and the spaghetti with meat sauce is yummy too. This is our new favorite pizza place in the world. It is soooooo gooood. If you love cheesy pizza, look no further. New York Style is the BOMB. Super gooey (ok, and greasy too), and reasonably priced. They have thick cut pepperoni too, which makes it even better. The garlic knots are covered in olive oil and parm and are delicious! We discovered Acropolis when looking through the GrubHub restaurants (but didn't use them- ridiculous delivery prices) and made the 25 minute drive to check them out. Well, I came for a dairy free pizza....the kitchen undercooked it so I sent it back to cook 3-4 extra minutes....20 minutes later I get the pizza back the same as in the beginning.....I wanted the pizza hot and the crust burnt.....I pointed it out to the bartender and he didn't care. Ive cooked lots w this non-dairy cheese and u have to cook it longer for it to melt properly.... obviously Acropolis doesn't care!!! I work near this place and we order it regularly for our company lunches. The pizza is packed full of flavor and serving size is well beyond the competition. Over all it's worth the $$ spent. The only draw back we have had as a group is the grease. Because of the toppings and cheeses it tends to be a bit heavy on your belly but it hasn't stopped us from enjoying it each time we get it. We always stay in fletcher when we go to the Biltmore and I'm upset that over the years this trip was the first time we stopped in Acropolis which ended up us eating dinner every night of our trip. For delivery during the pandemic I unfortunately do not recommend. We do like their offerings during normal times and it pains to write a negative review at this time. Not sure if the breakdown was Acropolis or GrubHub or both. I placed an order at 6:50 and was told after paying and tipping that a 7:40 - 7:50 delivery would occur. Then pickup was supposed to have happen at 7 and a 7:20 delivery. Checked back around 7:15. Now an 8:30-8:40 delivery. Then an update 8:10 delivery. I followed the car and thought multiple times she was coming to our house ... so close. Nope. I called twice, said next stop we were, approaching 8:40 I called again and cancelled and asked a refund. Friends were over and left, embarrassing and my son's friends are over and we're waiting for Papa Johns. Never again will I order from either during the close downs. Sad. read more

If I hadn't paid for my food over the phone I'd have bailed. I called in my order and almost got hung up on when asking to pay over the phone to minimize potential for transmission of infection given we're in the middle of a pandemic. The girl responded with "I guess so". It's wild they don't ask to attempt to do the same... I called when I pulled into the spot marked Acropolis pick up only and the person on the phone told me she couldn't bring it out as she would have no way of knowing where I was. Alrighty then. The last straw was when I did come to get my pizza, she opened the lid to each of them wearing gloves she had on when she took payment from the customer in front of me. Gross. This was my 2nd time here because my 1st time in July was such a good experience after my favorite Greek restaurant was closed for holiday. But then today happened. We were the only ones in the restaurant and waited 10 minutes for someone to take our order despite a congregant of servers discussing car problems. Our garlic knots were brought out obviously burnt but the server thought it was ok to give them to us. My Greek salad, the one I ordered on my previous visit, was absolutely nothing to speak of today. My partner' chicken was room temp. I travel through Asheville every few months.
