This place has the best garlic knots we've ever had! Fresh garlic and lots of it-- smaller in size so softer and tastier. Comes with marinara whereas lots of places charge extra. Apparently the place is always open which is so refreshing in this blessed town. (No weird winter hours!) The pizza was tasty but different than the NY style of most. You'll just have to try it! This was our first time getting a pizza from Angelo's Pizza. We had been in Florida the past four years and we were looking for a goto pizza place coming back to Asheville (they do pickup only). My wife and I were delighted with the pizza that Angelo's prepared. We ordered the Supreme which is a 9 topping pizza. I am from N.Y.. That being said, this is not New York pizza. Pizza is a subjective thing. What I like other people may not agree. The dough tastes different. The size of the slice is smaller. Not much flavor to the sauce. The main ingredients in a veggy pizza are: mushrooms, green peppers and black olives. His ingredients are just too small and lacking. On the N.Y. Supreme I did not taste sausage. Also, bacon bits really don't belong on a pizza. It is also very expensive. The place is strictly take out. There are no tables to sit down and eat. read more

Angelo's Pizza is a small family-run operation in the South Asheville area. They offer NY-style pizza with a typical variety of toppings. On our first visit I tried their Deluxe pizza, which has pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, black olives, and green peppers. It was excellent and one of the best NY-style slices I've had outside of NYC itself. On a repeat visit I tried their Greek pizza, which has black olives, onions, spinach, fresh tomatoes, and feta cheese. I also added sausage on half of it because, well, sausage. Normally I'm not a big fan of fresh tomatoes on pizza as I find them to be universally bland, mushy, and watery as they're typically applied in large slices. Angelo's, however, chops them up into little bits that not only get cooked through while the pizza bakes but also evaporates a lot of the moisture present in them. No sog, with all the concentrated flavor of tomato? Yes please! It was a revelation and one that I'd be happy to see become more common in the pizza world. I also tried their garlic knots which were buttery, very garlicky, and served with some top-notch marinara. They also reheated quite well, which I can't say holds true for lots of other garlic knots I've had. The staff is extremely friendly, prices are typical for a pizza joint, and my pizza was ready right when they said it would be. I have to agree with Evan, this is not the pizza I am used to when living in NY. Mediocre at best. You want NY pizza? Go to Favillas.

Angelo's was a bust. No cheese pull and it was rubbery. There were only a few pepperonis on the whole pie. The Greek salad was totally lame. It was served with black olives instead of Kalamata and Italian dressing not Greek. Go figure. I'm not craving pizza anymore, but won't be back to Angelo's. Yikes! read more

Honestly- We live less than a mile from this pizza joint and had been hesitant since moving to the area to try it due to the fact that we could never find a website with menu information and the social media (Facebook) hadn't been updated since 2020 but glad we finally did!! It's a small shop that is locally owned and consistently busy. The pizza was well made, fresh, and super tasty! Pricing was very reasonable for the area too. I lived just around the corner for years but never ordered from them because I thought they were connected with the Chinese Restaurant next door since they both operate out of small places. The idea of a Chinese food / pizza parlor just never struck my as good flavor combo to check out and there is no web presence to verify otherwise. I received a random recommendation from a stranger while chatting to pass the time waiting in line at a blood drive and I'm glad I listened. The pizza is delicious and very well priced. A large 2 topping pie only costs approximately $15 and is well worth more. You have to either call or walk in to order which seems odd these days but don't let it discourage you. Make the call and order your pizza! I haven't tried anything other than pizza at this point but will try the garlic knots on my next visit. Even on a busy Friday or Saturday night I've never been quoted more that a 20-30 minute wait. Good pizza fast at a great price is hard to beat. read more

I absolutely LOVE Angelo's pizza! We've tried quite a few places and found a couple places we like but Angelo's is our #1 go-to spot and we order it once or twice a month. Their sauce blows away the other places (in my opinion) and is so flavorful. My only complaint is that the sauce is a little light on the pizza but I just remedy that by ordering extra sauce and then it's perfect! The garlic knots are pretty delicious too. One day I'll get around to trying some of their sandwiches and entrees but I seriously crave their pizza. Service is great and everyone is so friendly. read more
