We got a large House Salad and lasagna and chicken Marsala! They have the best lasagna I have ever had in my entire life! That salad is pretty stellar too! My fiancée said his Chicken Marsala was just ok and he probably would get something else next time! Which we're dying to try their pizza! This is a good and reliable experience. I will say, dine in tends to be a bit better than to-go, but both are good. I enjoy the variety of menu items here including the salads, pastas, pizzas, and calzones. It's great for an easy meal as they also have large servings. So you can plan for leftovers! Del Vecchios South is a New York style pizzeria with indoor and outdoor dining. There is parking available in a somewhat wonky parking lot shared with other businesses. The service is OUTSTANDING! The pizza has a thin, crisp crust, the perfect amount of sauce and cheese, and so many toppings. My husband and I went for a large Greek salad to share (it was HUGE...next time, we'll be splitting the small salad). Each of us ordered a slice of pizza...which translates into a quarter of a pizza each! I kept it simple adding one topping...for $2.99?!? That's a steal. My husband added several toppings. When the pizza slices arrived at our table, we both commented on what "pretty" pizza it was...and the crust could hold up all of the toppings on my husband's slice. So I got a carry out order for a panini with portobello mushrooms, sun-dried tomato spread, goat cheese spread and spinach on GF bread, with fries instead of chips. The service and ambiance was appreciated because it was ready when I showed up. Regarding the meal itself, the fries were a little disappointing because they were soft and bland, but cooked through. I assume we are expected to season them ourselves. My wife and I stopped by Del Vecchio's South for lunch. I didn't know what to expect, and was a bit surprised that you ordered at the counter and they brought your meal out to you. I was also surprised that we were the only customers in the place - usually a red flag, but as we saw while we were there, their business is mostly take-out and delivery. They do have a pleasant dining room with both tables and booths, along with a large patio. A very pleasant young man took our orders and tended to our table. We split a large salad, and still barely finished it. The pickled onions were a nice touch, the lettuce was fresh, the bell pepper was crunchy and the garlic knots were wonderful. She opted for the fettucine alfredo, and I had the Old Country Cacciatore. I tried a forkful of her alfredo, and it was very tasty, the pasta was maybe just the slightest bit overcooked, and the presentation was a bit soupy. The sauce for my cacciatore was absolute heaven! thick, rich, chunky the way a good cacciatore should be, and with just the right amount of kick. The sliced chicken breast was very tender and cooked perfectly, I had expected it to be a bit more rustic, but it was very tasty. The bowtie pasta was a bit overcooked. Overall, the Del Vecchio's South was not as fancy as I expected, not a place for "date night", but as a lunch spot for something way beyond a burger, it really filled the bill. While visiting Asheville, we decided to place an order for delivery at this place. We ordered their roasted vegetables pizza, garlic knots, mozzarella sticks and some garden salad. The delivery took about an hour and our pizza was a bit cold by the time we received it but it still tasted good. I liked how generous they are with their pizza toppings. See photos below to see what I mean. Garlic knots weren't all that but we did like the garden salad and mozzarella sticks. So glad they now have a location in S. Asheville! I have loved everything we've gotten from here from Chicago-style pizza which is a personal favorite to the calzone which I had today and I even have them cater a birthday party with chicken alfredo and Caesar salads. I have other favorites around. Growing up in North Jersey gives you a special skill to evaluate pizza, pork roll and bagels!! They've got a half dozen tap beers and 1/2 dozen canned. About 3 choices of wine. "We got red wine, we got white wine...not exactly that bad, but they missed the boat if they are trying to sell wine with their meals. All in all, a pleasant meal. Pizza was hot out of the oven and I got home quickly to try it. The large is a good size and could easily serve 4 people particularly since 1 -2 slices would likely be filling. The flavors including the mushrooms and bacon were tasty. The dough, however, was more pillowy than I prefer. Can't remember when I had to chew a bite of pizza this much. Couldn't decide if it was undercooked dough or the nature of this style of pizza. The reheated slices the following day held up well but we're still chewy. Best pizza I've had in months! It's nice having a spot like this down here. I had a perfect NY pepperoni slice, homemade Red Bliss chips (so good!) and fountain Coke (good ice in an classic red plastic Coca-Cola cup) for under ten bucks. I never leave reviews. The cheesesteak was "sweet and sour tasting" and not at all authentic. Limited to zero cheese. I called DelVecchios the moment I got home because the "steak" tasted rancid (going bad). The meatball sub was great. I didn't want my money back, just wanted DelV to know the cheesesteak was weird and sour tasting. The associate, very politely, told me they sauté their beef in italian dressing. Never heard of that. Lived in Boston and NYC for 30 years. A food truck is 10 times better and 10 times cheaper. The mozz stix were underdone, not crispy, light lemon colored, and obviously frozen. For 10 bucks we can do better. Marinara tasted ok. Never again, though. Just moved here and will never recommend this place, no matter how polite the staff. If the food is meh, move on. I don't need to pay 70 dollars to pick up a very sub-par meal. Save your trouble. There must be a better place for the same price. The read more

Del Vecchios pizza - which took over the former 828 Family Pizzeria location in South Asheville (Arden) - suffers from the too-much-garlic problem, while the crust is unsatisfactory. Salads are lacking too. And While we always liked the restaurant inside, now it just seems to have less life. Service is a QSR concept, vs. the 828 stellar hands-on Italian family dining experience. It matters if there's a bar and good TV. So I can't figure out why someone would now eat in. Sorry Del Vecchios, but IMHO you really should level up. read more

Don't bother ordering... they won't give you all your food no matter what. 9/10 times we miss some part of the order. They're good if you eat in and can remind them you are missing parts of a meal you paid for. They've wrote weird messages on my food containers before. You call and it's anyone else's fault your food didn't arrive. But if you eat in, like I said before, you can fix all of this rather than wait an hour for part of a dinner to show. We got attitude from them. Not nice. They have sent us food burnt to a crisp that wasn't meant to be. We've ordered numerous times but this is it. We are not ordering again. Many people don't know you can buy just the sauce to go. $16 for a quart ($8 for half) that feeds 6-8 easy with pasta you make and buy their garlic roles - a dozen is less than the grocery charges.
