    Avocado Toast

Nice small neighborhood restaurant. When we walked in we were quickly directed to a seat. They have counter space (ten seats) and about 8 booths/tables. The decor is underwhelming and the ambiance is chill. We got our food quickly and began to dig in. The avocado toast was great. It was my first time trying it but I was satisfied and satiated. My girlfriend really loved the Belgium waffle, best she ever had. I will definitely return to try some of the other menu items. Also, the service was fantastic!

Really cute breakfast/lunch cafe. Found it while looking for somewhere to grab a quick breakfast with a friend from out of town before taking him to the airport. So happy we chose here. Really good and friendly service. Place is cute with indoor and outdoor seating. Food was amazing! Prices were good/worth it as well. They don't have alcohol, just teas, sodas, and juices. I had the Huevos Rancheros which was sooo good! Very flavorful and everything was fresh! Added some cholula hot sauce and it became even more amazing. I love that they have a variety of hot sauce options versus most places just giving you Tabasco (yuck!). My friend had the steak and eggs which he said was great- I don't eat steak so I can't attest but it looked good.

I walked here for dinner and I got here as did a few other patrons to find this sign on the door closed at 4:00 pm on Mondays. They need to update their Yelp and online presence with the new times. Disappointed!

The food was very good. The service was good as well on a busy Saturday afternoon. From the outside it looks like a small shop but on the inside the ambiance is cozy and comfortable. I had the bacon avocado toast with hash browns and it was amazing. Next time I return I will try the birria tacos. Update: went back for the birria tacos so good!!

Lovely intimate find in Hewlett with delicious Latin breakfasts. Place had warm hospitality and felt like we were dining in someone's home.

The pupuas were very delicious and authentic. Our server was friendly and attentive. The place was comfy and had a at home feel to it. If you are in the neighborhood stop in and give them a try, you won't be disappointed.

Came here for breakfast and I absolutely loved it! The staff was super friendly, the menu had a variety of options everything sounded so good! Not going to lie from the outside it doesn't look that nice but different once inside. There are booths and it's really just a cozy place to have coffee, breakfast or lunch. I ordered the crab cake Benedict and the portion was very generous and it was delicious. I ordered silver dollar pancakes for my 3 year old (soooo many) ... and my mom had an omelette. Love how they make the hash browns. I also liked how they offer oatmilk for the coffee. Can't wait to come back! IHOP who????

This place didn't look like much from the outside, but rated many stars on yelp, we were in the area and I was starving. To my surprise, the coffee was delicious (most diner type restaurants tend to serve crappy coffee), the servers were extremely friendly, and my eggs Benedict were delicious. My eggs were perfectly poached, the hollandaise was nice and lemony, and they gave me my hashbrowns extra crispy as I requested. Unfortunately, the hashbrowns were a little cold when we got our plate, I guess the hashbrowns were waiting on the eggs. However, my eggs were cooked properly, so I can't complain. I really enjoyed the side of pork sausages as well. Would I go back? Definitely!

Great service and great food and the ambiance is not bad. Very cute indoors dining. The tables are marked off to allow 6 feet distance. They were willing to take my restaurant .com gift certificate too

Vegan tacos not on the menu but they'll make 'em

Strange...just strange…read more My friend and I were waiting for the Jetty to open for brunch so we thought we would grab a drink somewhere else while we wait. We were even considering other spots for brunch since we weren't married to any particular option. Unfortunately, our experience made us not want to stick around and we ventured on. As we were walking by and peering in to check out the scene, a man standing outside the restaurant with his bike said something like "Go ahead, they're open". It didn't look like he was affiliated with the restaurant but later on it seemed like he knew the DJ. Yes there was a DJ set up by the bar, but they were playing jazz music. Now I love jazz but to me this was a tiny bit odd. I'm use to seeing live jazz on premise. But that was the least of our worries. We then went to order brunch cocktails and they have a great selection. To switch it up a bit and because it was on the menu, we ordered two Bellinis. It felt like it too over a half hour for our drinks. A Bellini is champagne and peach juice/purée. The champagne was poured but it took forever for them to get to finishing our very simple drink. The purée was in the fridge under the bar. Again no they much of a stretch, but it seemed like a tall order. The bar seemed to be run by two people, both a man and a woman. The place itself wasn't crowded but he seemed like the two of them as well as the other staff seemed overwhelmed. We finally got our Bellinis and after waiting an exorbitant amount of time to get these two simple drinks, we were pitched on staying for brunch. This might have been considered if we didn't see the kitchen staff berate the front of the house right in front of customers. It really left a bad taste in our mouth. The Bellini was fine...and as soon as we finished it we dropped some money at the bar and left. Definitely disappointing because it has potential.

I was indeed excited to come here so it pains me to leave them (or any business really) a 2 star review.. it really does. It seems they took over from a former restaurant named Island Thyme early last year, so perhaps they still are experiencing growing pains. There was also a private party going on, so that clearly played a factor in their disorganization. Upon entry, the owner asked if we'd like to eat indoors or outdoors. As I was about to respond, she stated "you'll have to sit outdoors, we have a private party inside." Interesting start. After we were seated, my date noticed most of the staff seemed a bit dejected and I replied "Well in my time as a server years ago, that usually reflects not so great management." Sadly I think I was correct. Our food took at least 45 minutes to arrive. At about the half hour mark, the owner came to the table and said that our food is coming out "right now." We ordered a grilled cheese and a burger, which both came with a side of fries. The burger wasn't too bad (except for an indelible crunchy piece that I had to place into my napkin). The fries on the other hand were most definitely undercooked. I took a few bites of the grilled cheese, which I did find quite tasty. After we finished our meal, we heard the owner tell a table that they are BYOB, so they can feel free to grab a beverage from the deli across the street. That information would definitely have been welcomed, as we could sure have used a drink while waiting for the food. When the owner finally came by to check on us (after we ate), we asked for the check. We then watched as she then greeted new guests for the private party and seemingly forgot about us for over 10 minutes. Luckily, a different waitress noticed the credit card I had placed on the side of the table and asked if we would like our check. Everyone's human and we all have off-days/nights, so while my date was quite frustrated and still hungry (barely ate half her food), I figured you can't win 'em all. Little did I know that the best was yet to come. After having to track down a pen to sign the bill, the owner approached us one last time. "Hey I'm the owner and I just wanted to say... can you leave your tip in cash." All in all, great location, good concept, but definitely a severe lack of execution. Perhaps the next time they book a private party, they should consider closing it off to the public, as I noticed several other tables seeming frustrated or ignored as well.

The menu is appreciably huge, boasting everything from breakfast to sandwiches to pastas and much, much, more. About the only thing here that doesn't recall a bygone era is the pricing, which is high even by 21st-century Long Island standards. Laurel does at least offer rather generous portions (plus free coleslaw and pickles), but the food is nothing special. I went with a pastrami Reuben and a side salad in place of fries. The sandwich satisfied a craving though the meat was a bit chewy. It feels almost blasphemous, but I can get a better version down in North Carolina for about half the $20-plus cost. To Laurel's credit, the staff were at least attentive and accommodating. For those who grew up with diners like this or simply want a lot of options to choose from, Laurel Diner holds a certain appeal. Remove nostalgia from the equation, however, and it offers neither particularly good food nor a good value.

The great-looking lineup of muffins and even homemade biscotti(!) in the display case caught our attention immediately, and by the time we took a look at the menu, we were truly hooked. All of their plant-based meats are homemade from whole foods, such as the signature chorizo (lentils and tofu) and the chicken cutlet (chickpeas). A refreshing change from the highly processed vegan meats served almost everywhere else. We were blown away by the chorizo broccoli rabe sandwich served on sourdough - possibly the best sandwich we've ever had. The tofu scramble bowl was also fantastic, with well-executed details such as green beans mixed in and a side of delicious roasted rosemary potatoes (and a generous side of avocado). The matcha chocolate chip muffin was delicious, as was the almond biscotti. We also really enjoyed the coffee (drip coffee and espresso) which was made with love and served in actual mugs. The food was served in disposable to-go containers even though we dined in, reminding you that it's more of a cafe than a restaurant, even though the chef has the skill and creativity to rival any cloth napkin establishment. Fermento impressed us in a way that is rare: incredible tasty and wholesome food (both savory dishes and desserts) that was both innovative and comforting. Long Beach is a long way away for us, but we are already looking for an excuse to return.
