This is going to be a two parter. I'm doing this now just in case someone is taking a look at them. This has been the absolute worst, with no else being even close in how bad they are. As a guy who has worked both professionally and personally with vendors for 30 years. Action air is beyond description in how terrible they are...insanely bad. We purchased a new A/C in April. It was installed wrong and we are now closing in on September with no resolution. If there was a way to leave a -10 star review I absolutely would. Do not use, believe every single negative review. STAY AWAY! I am beyond frustrated with this company. We originally used them through Costco, which made us feel more confident choosing them. When we requested maintenance, they showed up quickly and charged us $600. But the worst part? After they left, our AC stopped working. Our system is still under warranty, yet getting them to actually come and fix the problem has been a nightmare. They repeatedly schedule appointments, forcing us to stay home and wait for them--and then no one shows up. Meanwhile, we have been living without AC in 95°F to 101°F heat, waiting for this company to fix the very system they worked on. They have told us they have the part needed, so what exactly are we waiting for? Apparently, someone to actually show up and install it! This level of service is completely unacceptable. If you value your time, your money, and having a working AC during extreme heat, I would strongly recommend staying away from this company. read more

I called last Saturday to schedule an appointment with you for today between 3-5 PM. I'm extremely disappointed that my appointment was canceled this morning with less than 24 hours' notice. I'm trying to understand why my appointment was canceled and why I was not given more notice. Honestly, this has left me with the impression that fixing my AC unit is not a priority for your company. I understand that schedules can change, but canceling an appointment at the last minute after I have been waiting since last Saturday is very frustrating and inconvenient. We've been long time customers of Action Air and satisfied with their maintenance program. Five years ago they installed new a/c, heating and ducting and has been running great since then. Last month however one of the parts went out during that hot part of the summer and to say the least, things were pretty hot at our house. So we called for diagnostic appt and asked for part to be ordered immediately, which it was and installed and system runs great again. We had the good fortune of speaking with Morgan in the office. She researched the warranty on the part and made sure we received an immediate credit. (Thank you Morgan!) We will continue to stay with Action Air. read more

When I had my HVAC unit installed by Action it had problems from day one. It rained a few days after installation and the pipe they fitted through the roof was not installed properly. It leaked into my house. When I called Action, they said they would send someone out the next day. I replied that if they waited until the next day, they would be then paying for a new floor for me since the water was leaking so badly. They sent out the same guy that installed it, Adam. After he "fixed" it and left, it started raining again and it still leaked. A supervisor then came out and had to get on the roof and make the repairs. Now, 3 years later, the unit does not work. It leaked all the coolant out. When Action came out to check it, the technician opened the doors of the inside unit and it was all taped up with duct tape. He said that was completely unacceptable. He said to call Action the next morning and set up an appt to get the unit repaired. When I called, they wanted to send another technician to come out and look at it. I said I wouldn't pay again since the problem was diagnosed. Action said it would send me an invoice with a quote to repair it. Have not received the quote. Stay tuned for another review! There's great businesses and then there's... these people. These are some of the most inefficient people I have ever met here in San Diego. Absolute waste of time. As a realtor representing my client, they were supposedly unable to deal with me directly for replacement of an HVAC unit. They needed to speak to the owner on a recorded line and also required some sort of escrow fee (even though this was a simple seller repair to be paid quickly by the seller/owner). In the time that I had to waste listening to this bureaucratic BS, I already had secured quotes from 3 of the other HVAC installers I was in touch with (with top-choice able to install everything the next day, with complete SD air permits + HERS verification). read more

Action Air came out to check out our mini-split A/C system a couple of weeks ago. The first tech they sent out seemed to have good intentions, but ultimately didn't fix the unit. I suspected the reason it didn't get fixed was due to the fact that what looked like a direct replacement, plug and play, pump, actually wasn't. The pump manufacturer changed locations of wiring connections, but kept the same plug design. Connecting the new pump without changing the modified, factory supplied pigtail (?) would blow the fuse, and that's what happened. Overall, a cheap lesson for all involved. After reading Yelp reviews about Action Air, I noticed that there was a particular tech's name that popped up with satisfied customer reviews, Oscar. I asked to have Oscar sent out for the system re-check, and Action did just that. Well, Oscar was great. After wiring in the factory supplied pigtail/plug, the Oscar plugged in the new pump. Once the A/C was started, the pump started pumping as it was supposed to. Mission accomplished. The A/C is working as it should. And that's a very good thing for August in So. Cal. There were no additional charges to us for the repair. Action stood by their repair warranty. I'll say this, Action may well have other able technicians to send to do your repairs, but if you want to be confident in chances of timely success, ask for Oscar. Thanks, Oscar. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED - POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE BEFORE SERVICE EVEN BEGAN Unfortunately, I can't even rate the quality of action airs HVAC service because they never showed up. Our air conditioner was still running but was only producing slightly cooled air. With an excessive heat warning forecast for the weekend, we wanted to have it evaluated as soon as possible. Based on actions, air positive reviews, veteran owned status, and online availability, I scheduled an appointment through their website on Monday for Thursday between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.. The online scheduling process was simple and I received both a confirmation email and a text reminder stating that action air employee would be arriving. During that appointment window. Everything appeared to be confirmed. To make sure I was home, I took the afternoon off work, rescheduled employee interviews and meetings, and waited. At 4:27 p.m. - after waiting 4 and 1/2 hours into the scheduled appointment window - I finally received a phone call informing me that they would not be coming. I was then told that they were aware their online scheduling system had some problems and that the next available appointment wasn't until August 18th I'm sorry... What?? If you already knew your online scheduling system wasn't functioning properly, why was it still accepting appointments? At a minimum, why wasn't I contacted when I made the appointment, the day before, or even the first thing that morning? Instead, I lost an afternoon of work waiting for an appointment that your company apparently knew it could never keep. This wasn't an inconvenience - it demonstrated a complete lack of respect for a customer's time As a fellow veteran, I intentionally seek out veteran owned businesses because I believe in supporting those who have served. That made this experience even more disappointing. Customer service isn't just about fixing HVA systems; it's about communication, accountability, and respecting the commitments that you make to your customers I sincerely hope action air addresses the scheduling issues and improves their communication with customers. No one should spend half a day waiting only to be told, at the very end of the appointment window, that the appointment was never going to happen. DO BETTER!!!! read more

Extremely disappointed with Action Air. All I needed was a routine HVAC maintenance appointment. I initially scheduled it online, but they called me afterward to say the date I selected wasn't actually available and asked me to reschedule. The next available appointment they offered was two weeks later. Today was my rescheduled appointment, scheduled for 9:00-11:00 AM. I took a day off work and waited at home for the entire two-hour window. No one showed up. When I called their office, they told me they didn't have any availability today. Seriously? If that was the case, why didn't anyone call me before my appointment window to let me know? Instead, they wasted my time and my day off. To make things even worse, the next available appointment they offered was September 1st. Are you serious? After canceling on me twice, you're asking me to wait another month for a simple HVAC maintenance appointment? This is the second time they failed to keep my appointment. Poor scheduling, terrible communication, and complete disregard for customers' time. I won't be using Action Air again, and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. read more

We had a full AC system installed by this company less than a year ago for upwards of $12k. It failed three weeks ago (diagnosed as an airflow issue, filter replaced, system reset). It failed again with the exact same symptoms; new filter installed, system running but blowing warm air, outdoor unit not engaging. When I called, I was told the earliest available appointment was four days away, with zero technicians available for the entire weekend. This during an active heat warning with highs above 90°. I have a toddler at home. I emailed the owner directly, who I'd spoken with positively after the install, and never received a response. I called the main line every morning and got the same answer each time: nothing available. I understand things break. What's disappointing is a company that installed an expensive system less than a year ago having no weekend emergency coverage at all for a total no-cooling situation, and an owner who didn't respond to a direct, reasonable request for help. I'd think carefully about what support looks like after the sale before choosing this company. read more

Beware of this company. Don't waste your time. Oddly, a Realtor referred me to Neil with Action AC. I contacted Neil directly and scheduled an appointment with him on Tuesday between 10-11AM. As 11AM passed, I texted Neil to confirm he was still coming, he said he was "on his way". He showed up around 11:30. I can get past that..things happen and we can run late (even though he should have at least texted me as a courtesy). I discussed my plans with Neil (need to replace furnace and move it from first floor up into the attic, redo some duct work, and also I wanted a quote on adding AC). Neil was probably here for 30 minutes, checked the house, all the rooms and attic. He said he'd have the estimates to me by the end of the weekend. The weekend came and passed. I texted Neil the following Wed (8 days from his initial visit) to check status and he said he'd have the estimate over to me that day. Well, that didn't happen. I texted him again the following Monday (now 13 days from Neil's initial visit) and he said he had sent it, but he "may have sent it to the wrong email" and that he'd check shortly. I waited until day's end and still no estimate. At this point I submitted a message on the company's website (detailing everything above) and asked for somebody to call me to discuss. The next day (today), I received a text message from Action Air (not a phone call), asking for my address since they didn't have it on file. Why wouldn't they just call me? Why wouldn't they call Neil in advance to contacting me if they needed an address?..makes no sense. This was my experience with Action AC and this is why I'll be taking my business elsewhere. If it's this difficult to so much as get a quote, I'd be afraid of both the quality of their work and their commitment to customer satisfaction in general. Total waste of time. read more

Action A/C was able to get me scheduled for an a/c service within 2 days of my call (other companies were scheduling a week out). Oscar checked the coolant levels, filters, ductwork, intake vents, and a/c unit for possible causes for the malfunction. He identified some safety issues with the previous installation done by another company and added some coolant. My house is already feeling cooler. He provided a thorough inspection and great customer service. read more

It's been some time since the last review and the bad taste has mostly left my mouth. Overall we are very happy with our new HVAC system and would recommend Action Air Conditioning. They did end up making the rebate situation right although I stand firm on it not being handled properly to begin with. Hopefully the office staff learned something from this debacle. DO NOT USE ACTION HEATING AND AIR -- SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE In September 2025, a technician from Action Heating and Air came to my home and caused a short circuit in my attic. Shortly after their work, sparks were coming out of electrical outlets upstairs. This was an extremely dangerous situation. I immediately called a licensed electrician, who told me I was lucky a fire did not start. I had no choice but to pay $688 out of pocket to correct the safety hazard that Action Heating and Air caused. It is now February 2026, and despite repeated attempts to resolve this reasonably, the company has refused to take accountability. Instead, they told me to "have an attorney contact our legal team" and to stop contacting them. That response alone should tell you everything you need to know about how they treat customers when something goes wrong. What's especially frustrating is that they had no problem responding promptly when I paid them to install a new AC and furnace a few years ago. Once there was a serious issue involving safety and liability, they completely disengaged. This company put my home at risk and then walked away from it. Call back service is horrible, communication between customer service rep and service technicians is ridiculous. Our unit is fairly new, about four years old and it already has problems. In the four years, we were able to use it the first summer, but has had problems since. I contacted Action Air and they sent a young kid who did not repair the issue but I was charged $72.00 for the visit. VERY disappointing. I would not recommend Action Air. read more

So no sooner than had I pressed the "Post Review" button here on Yelp I get a call from Action Air. The lady who could not call me back after 5 phone calls is "oh so sorry". So they sent Oscar out to check for leaks. He found the leak in the inside mini-split unit. The leak showed up as green under his flashlight. In fact he found two leaks in the same unit. It seems to me that Carlos is very skillful. Since my mini-split has the old refrigerant that California has outlawed, my best course of action is replacing the entire freakin system. No more Fujitsu. In summary, I can state if you get Oscar, that he knows his stuff. But their prices are outlandish. I am getting multiple quotes read more

COMPANY SHOULD BE RE-NAMED INACTION AIR!! If I could leave negative stars, I would. Our experience with this company has been nothing short of a nightmare. From the sloppy installation, to the defective equipment, to the sham of a service call, every step has revealed incompetence, negligence, and a complete lack of accountability. Outlined below is our experience with this company from Day 1. Poor Installation: Service tech left a hole in our master bedroom, greasy fingerprints on walls, and unnecessary drill holes outside. Careless, not professional. Defective Equipment: Within months after installation, the living room unit overflowed - causing water damage so severe the ceiling down our hallway had to be torn out and replaced. The Cherry on Top: A month ago, David V. showed up after we noticed 2 out 3 of our split units not working. David V. came to our home and spent barely 5 minutes inside, with no thorough inspection of either the interior or exterior units. He admitted he knew nothing about our warranty and then tried to sell us a $421 refrigerant refill -- without checking refrigerant levels. After pushback, David called his manager Will, who conveniently proposed a $750 "leak detection test" just to confirm if a leak even existed. In summary - David spent most of the call sitting in his truck, walked through our home in dirty boots without offering booties, and bizarrely picked up random bags of charcoal from a neighbor's sidewalk before leaving. Stonewalling, Evasion, and Rude Customer Service: After zero help from Will we requested to talk to someone else. We were referred to another David, apparently the general manager. To date and after numerous attempts to contact him, David left vague voicemails with no direct number; forcing us to go through their chaotic phone tree. Nearly a month later, no one has explained our warranty coverage, no one has taken responsibility, and no one has addressed fixing or repairing our non working units. The pattern is clear, This company does sloppy installs, installs defective equipment, dodges responsibility, and then pressures customers into paying hundreds (if not thousands) for "diagnostics" before they'll even consider addressing the problems. It feels less like a service company and more like a scam. read more

Do not follow thru. Took three weeks for them to come for an evaluation. Charges $80 for the visit. They originally installed the system and now it was leaking. Following the evaluation someone was going follow up the next day. They never did. When we called after a week, the person on the phone said they are waiting for parts. What parts? There was never a discussion about parts. The person insisted that parts were ordered. After we repeatedly asked that they check that they have the right order, they confirmed that no parts are warranted, said it will take more than a week till someone will stop by and it will cost extra (regular rate is $250/hour) because they will come after hours. In attempting to get my disabled friend help in replacing the mini split in her ADU, they refused to do business with me, even though I had provided my friend's contact information to them twice to two different people to confirm the service call was legitimate. Even though their service tech had looked at the ADU and was supposed to be providing a bid,which is why I called them - to get the bid that had not yet been sent, even though I paid for the initial service call. We were in need of new ACs and furnace. I saw the ACTION truck in front of my neighbors house, so figured I'd give them a call. Joseph Lambert was our point of contact. He was great from start to finish. We felt the quote was reasonable and they were able to get the job done quickly! The installers were wonderful as well. Very knowledgeable and informative. If something came up jn the installation they explained it to us and helped us feel comfortable making decisions. We are so glad they made the process easy. System they installed 4 years ago has flooded my attic area with condensate, damaging the ceilings. It took them days to come out, they charged for the service call, and could not make the system operational because they couldn't clear the condensate line. I had to pay another contractor to clear the line and get the system working again. After that, Action came to asses possibility of adding a drain line to the secondary condensate pan to prevent future floods. After that visit, the system no longer worked at all and they left without checking it. Since they would not schedule another tech for over a week and weather was quite warm, I had an authorized Daikin tech come out at my own expense. He got the system working and also found the float switches which protect from condensate floods were not even connected correctly. I have asked to speak with someone in management at Action several times about this matter and they say someone will call back but they never do - ghosted. It seems like they had good customer service a few years ago but I would avoid them now. read more

Once again we are needing repairs that are warranted but haven't got any phone calls back. We haven't had our system working since October. The tech thought it was one thing ordered the parts, came to install and realized that wasn't the problem. Go to find out that tech didn't put in their repair system what he found so now it's February and we've been without heat and air since October. We had a great experience with Alex from Action Air Conditioning and really appreciated his professionalism and honesty. We called Action Air for a second opinion on a 3 year old Lennox furnace after another company told us the unit was unsafe and needed to be replaced. Alex took his time and performed a careful, thorough evaluation. He checked the system, ran it through a full operating cycle, and tested carbon monoxide levels. The results were reassuring. The furnace was operating normally, no error codes were present, and there were no internal issues that required replacement. What stood out most was Alex's approach. He was straightforward, explained what he was seeing, and did not try to upsell or recommend unnecessary work. It is rare to find that level of integrity and technical confidence. If you want an HVAC company that focuses on accurate diagnosis and honest recommendations, I would absolutely recommend Alex and Action Air Conditioning. read more

I am writing this review in the hope that it will discourage you from ever getting involved with this company. I have just had a horrible experience with Action Air. I called them out to check my A/C as it was not getting cool. They sent a technician (David Valdivia) to come out and see what that could do to get it fixed. The technician reported that the system was empty of refrigerant and that he recommended recharging the system with fresh refrigerant and adding a sealant/dye product that would more than likely fix it. He was wrong as after 4 days I was back to square one with a broken system. I paid $2800.00 for this fix , I was charged $511:00 for each pound of refrigerant which as I have since found out is usually Max $150 per pound from other local HVAC companies in our area. ( price gouging) as I was told by other professionals. When I tried to contact Action Air management to voice my displeasure I was told that they don't have a e mail directory of management and that was their policy. The long and short of it is please don't trust this company they are the worst. read more

Too much "up sale" and not enough work done for the money it costs. Quoted prices for further cleaning was ridiculously high.

I had two prior estimates for having our air ducts cleaned. Both estimates were well over $2k. When Action Air contacted me and gave the estimate it was a no brainer. Alex arrived on time and we completed a walkthrough showing him all the locations or the registers. Alex immediately got to work and was very informative about the process. Alex was very professional and the work areas were left clean and spotless. I would definitely recommend Action Air for air duct cleaning. read more
