The only reason I gave a 1 star is because, they got the job done which was to move my things. First off, my move time was scheduled for 4-7 pm this past Sunday. They called me to tell me they were way behind and that it was out of their control but they might not be able to make it that night and asked if there was any way it could be done the next day (Monday). That was the first straw. I told them they needed to figure something out because I had to be out of my storage locker and into my new place that day. Luckily they switched a team around to make it work, so I thought all was well. I was wrong. Three guys showed up who from the very start were complaining about how tired they were and how long of a day they had. I understand it was probably a busy day of lifting and moving but that is your job and I am paying a good price for it. While moving things they complained to each other and argued about who was going to lift my furniture since they were all so tired and sore. Not something I wanted to listen to. I was holding a piece of my lamp and asked them if they could stick it somewhere (meaning the truck), and the lead guy proceeded to make a sexual comment directly to me regarding it. I instantly felt uncomfortable and annoyed. Very unproffesional and a little nerve wracking for a 25 year old girl moving alone. At my apartment the compaining continued and one guy nearly refused to move furniture in the house because he "couldn't get up the stairs from being so sore". Another guy used our restroom without asking and didn't flush. When they went to put my bed together the main complainer of the group attempted for 2 seconds and stormed out of the house cussing about how he couldn't get it and gave up. So he sat in the truck and pouted the rest of the time. Needless to say, these guys did not get a tip and I would never recommend them to anyone else. They are cheaper, but not worth it. I used 2 men and a truck the first time and they had 2 guys to move the same amount of stuff in the same amount of time. They were hard workers, efficient, very nice and professional. They were absolutely professional during a difficult situation, and very fast in moving my belongings. Highly recommend them over Two Men and a Truck (my last movers). They costed less than a fifth of the price and were done in a fraction of the time. Last time I checked, moving was the third most stressful life event. Having never used movers before I wasn't really sure what to expect. I was told that my movers would be there between 12-4 on a very busy moving day (August 31st) and they were there at 1:15. They were able to pack up everything we had, 1000 sq. foot apartment, with attention to detail on fragile items. They had us completely unpacked by 4:15 which was pretty impressive considering everything we had and having to go up and down 2 flights with each apartment. The guys hustled which I appreciated being that the amount of time factored into the pricing. I would definitely recommend and plan on using these guys for the next move. read more

So this was probably one of the worst moves i've ever experienced. Everything was going well for about the first hour. The crew of three men were on time and very courteous. However I began to notice that there was only one man coming in and out of the apartment moving things. I asked him where his friends were his response was that they 'were outside' to which I replied 'outside doing what?' and he never responded. It took a crew of three men 2 1/2 hours to load a one bedroom apartment into a truck. It then took them another near two hours to drive 30 miles in the middle of the day on a Friday in no traffic. When they arrived at my home my family and I had to help them unload the truck. I contacted action movers in order to resolve this issue civilly, my email was returned by someone claiming to be a lawyer who basically accused me of lying about the whole experience I also mentioned to this person that every wine glass I owned had been shattered even though I placed them carefully in boxes with padding and specified that they were fragile. I was never offered the opportunity to submit an insurance claim to get any recovery for my broken items. I have moved several times in the last 10 years always using moving companies based on the reviews I chose action movers and now regret that decision. The person i spoke with was brash, and rude and very unprofessional. I will never use them again. read more

This past weekend was our second time using action movers. Ozzi and his crew arrive on time (sometimes even early!) and get started right away. He is communicative and takes care of your items when moving them. I didn't get to stick around for the first move because I was working, so my boyfriend handled it but this time I was here to see it all. We had some issues with parking and loading docks at our new condo building and Ozzi had been here several times before so he knew the quirks of the building and to make sure to point out any previous damage on the walls to our building staff so we didn't (nor would they) incur any damage fees. They worked quickly even with a few set backs and it is really a stress relief to get someone in to do the moving for you. Because we didn't have to do any heavy lifting all day, we had the energy we needed for the next couple days to unpack. If you can afford it, I highly recommend hiring movers; Action Movers. Worth the money for the stress relief and HIGHLY competitive vs the rates at other companies. Handling business over the phone and email is seamless. We would absolutely hire Action Movers again (but I hope not to move anytime soon!!) read more

This was by far the worst experience that I have ever encountered. I was quoted $350 for the first 2 hours and $135 for each additional hour. I was assured that they would be able to move a 3 bedroom apartment within a reasonable time. They has to disassemble bedroom set a crib and take a mirror off of a dresser. They started at 9:00 and didn't finish until 3:00 my bill came out to $805. They tried to charge me $30 for tape he was very short and only all about the money. They put nothing together once things were delivered it would have brought my total to $1000. This was a HORRIBLE experience. 3 men and a truck and it took 5 hours to move me for a 3 bedroom. He didn't try to work with me took every dime I had and none of this was my fault. I will NEVER use this company again. I have used different moving companies and never this bad. The customer service was bad I tried to complain and the number on the truck came directly to the driver so I was at a loss no one to complain to or voice my concerns read more

These guys were GREAT! They just moved me last week and I was worried, as I'd never hired movers before, but they there super fast and really experienced. I just stayed out of the way and they had a one bedroom's worth of boxes and furniture in the truck in just around an hour. WOW! And unloading was a breeze, as well. Ozzie and the crew were very professional and down to business and it also ended up being very reasonable. While I love my new place, if I ever move again, I'll definitely use Action Movers. Anyways, I called Action Movers and they had 2 movers out to me within the hour. They were fast and efficient and had my move done in about 45 min to an hour. They are so nice and so accommodating! This is my first yelp review (and a couple months overdue) but I incredibly impressed with the service I received from Ozzi and the rest of the team at Action Movers - especially after some bad moves in the past. I moved from a 4th floor walk-up to a 1st floor unit a few miles away (with an additional pickup). The rates were better than any of the other companies I reached out to and I had heard good things already about the company, so I asked Ozzi to come out for a more detailed estimate. We will definitely use action movers for any future moves. We had such a great experience! Ozzie was great to work with during the scheduling/estimation process. The three movers arrived early (!!) and after we discovered an elevator scheduling mishap, they got everything out in 45 minutes - safely and efficiently! Our concierge said he's never seen movers get it done that quickly. My husband made a great point: you pay by the hour so most movers may have taken their sweet time...Not action movers! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I clearly had a very similar issue to many others who have left reviews where a number of my items were damaged with no resolution. I too saw a sign for 3 movers, 2 hours $240, which sounded too good to be true (which clearly it was). When they showed up to do the move they brought 4 men which was not discussed prior and I was definitely charged for. Prior to the move, Osi, the owner, mentioned that there would be a packing supplies fee and I told him it would not be necessary because I would be all packed and ready to go. As promised, the day of the move I was all packed yet they began wrapping everything despite having taped all my drawers, bins etc. closed (which I was later refunded the $75 packing supply fee and I waited to write this review until it hit my account). I moved from a studio apartment to a 3 bedroom (I was the only one moving) and it was literally 1 block away. Somehow with 4 movers + my friend and I helping, it still managed to take them over 3 hours. It took them almost a half hour to drive down the street and when I called Osi to see where they were, he barked into the phone that they "stopped for a cold drink because it was hot out" despite offering them water at both locations... They warned me as they were moving an old armoire that they would not be responsible if the wood split on the bottom because it was old (and I saw it was already starting to chip away) to which I said that was okay. After they left, I noticed the wood was fine and the rest of the armoire but they broke the metal piece that the drawer slides in and out of and will now not budge. I also noticed that there was a hole in the saran wrapped drawer where I had my medications. I immediately noticed I was missing my painkiller prescription from a previous surgery. When I called Osi to talk about it he angrily told me that "my men don't need painkillers and he would help me search the alley for my prescription..." MOVERS NOT NEEDING PAINKILLERS?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? When I asked him about the drawer, he told me he had warned me that it might break and I said that was about the wood on the bottom of the armoire splitting, not the drawer and he told me in so many words, "tough luck". I told him I had some scratches and dings on other pieces of furniture, a cat tree of mine was missing (I later saw it in the alley, broken, and they neglected to tell me), my mattress has a severe dip in the middle (which was not there before) and offered to send him a picture, to which he barked "please do" and refused to do anything about it. He said "this kind of stuff happens in a move" to which I told him I had moved twice prior in the last 5 years and nothing like this had ever happened. Osi became belligerent with me when I brought up my concerns and the only resolution I could get was a refund on the packing supplies... $75 is all I got back after spending close to $600 when the majority of the things they "helped" me move is no longer the same. They begged for a review through the entire process, so here you have it, they are careless, unprofessional, clearly uninsured, and I warn you to stay away!!!! read more

My most recent move was my easiest move to date thanks to Action Movers. They were on time (a bit early which was great for me), highly professional, and super speedy! They were very careful with our furniture yet very efficient. They seemed to know exactly what they were doing and their only questions for us were which rooms to put things into. Similar experience to others. One Bedroom apartment being moved 5 blocks. Quoted 3 Guys and Truck $ 250. Ended up getting billed $500. Overbilled for packaging materials and time and still ended up with damaged and shattered items. Things like three rolls of tape to hold blankets on a couch and shrink wrapping bookcases with no loose parts. Truck packed within first hour, but pretty much down hill from there. They stretched out to 3-1/2 hours by not efficiently filling the elevator, bring a few boxes at a time, but my favorite was including time to "organize the Truck" when they were done. How can I describe my experience with AMC? If there were a rating system for the crew I would give them a maximum score. They were on time, friendly, and efficient. Now, the administrative side of the business. Because of the way they handled things I am still moving things...by myself. I was renting a 1200 square foot single family home, when I scheduled my moving day I gave this information and a brief description of the items I had. So, in my head I am assuming, the moving company with their experience they will know how to proceed. Moving day arrives, movers are ready to go and that's when I see the truck. My first reaction was WTF!!!! Parked outside of my house is a medium size truck capable of moving 1.5 rooms. I managed to talk with the owner/operator of the moving company and his response is "I can get you a larger truck, it will cost you $195". Wait a minute, I'm thinking, they screw up and they want me to take care of it? Ok I'll concede that the customer pays for the truck however it was not my error and it is even written on the paper work, 2 bedrooms when it should have been 3. This move has cost me about $500, plus wages for taking off work to complete this move. As friendly as they are it does not make up for my moving crisis. read more

I would recommend them and I would advise you give a decent tip in light of the affordability. It also helps if you have everything packed, wrapped, etc - keeps the time low and move fast. We just used Action Movers of Chicago and could not be more pleased. Everyone knows moving is a pain, well, Action Movers of Chicago was a painless experience. They showed up right on time and it was like a well coached football team took over. We had 4 guys being directed by one, a 4 bedroom apartment was packed, loaded, and out the door in 3 HOURS, the drop off was seamless. I had to direct traffic at the new home but it was just as smooth. Knowing where you want your "stuff" is a must because the guys were coming in with boxes one after another. We also had to make another trip to a storage unit, there was no additional charges for the extra drive time. It was great that there were no hidden fees and the per hour rate was under anything else I researched in Chicago. The attention to detail was amazing, everything was sealed, wrapped, and taped up at no extra charge. I also wanted to make sure they are licensed and bonded, yep they are. Oh and because we were moving into a house with wooden floors I bought felt pads that needed to go on most of the furniture, they took the time to help me apply piece and were careful to not set down a single piece of furniture until it was protected. These guys get the job done! I am finally getting this review written as I moved in Oct. 2013! ( I was so impressed, I promised I would right this! Better late....) Person who sets appts. is great (Margaret..She answered the phone at 10pm night before the move when I realized I might need a bigger truck!) Very courteous I REQUESTED THAT SHE NOT SEND ME ANY MOVERS WITH AN ATTITUDE! We've all been there right? Mover shows up and acts like he's/their doing you a favor! lol. These movers showed up on time, great attitude, yes sir no sir! 3rd floor walk up to 3rd floor walk up, Ravenswood. I have to confess, when they showed up, I thought one was too small and one was too old. Boy was I wrong! They handled all my heavy furniture and breakables with care and efficiency. I was impressed with how they load and carry almost everything on their backs! Very experienced...nothing damaged. I was not quite ready for them when they came but they had necessary extra tape and extra boxes to complete move. (There is an extra charge for these supplies but it was reasonable and they got the job done!) My only complaint is that I had asked for three movers and last minute, only two were available. The move cost a little more because of this...it took them longer. I would however, use/recommend these guys again!! read more

After calling several movers including 2 men & A truck who NEVER returned my 3 calls after sending me an estimate; I stumbled across Action Movers. The desperation of having to move in 3 days was made easier once I spoke to Ozzie the owner. He quoted a great price and needless to say the reviews were favorable. But I looked up the company on BBB rated A+; licensed & bonded & avail for a Sun move. When they showed up promptly on move day Ozzie & his two men crew were professional & very skilled in moving my furniture & items in about an hr. Although I was moving from one unit to the another in the same bldg. moving is stressful & exhausting. But thanks to Ozzie & Action Movers I'm all settled in my new digs! I used AMC to move last week and I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone and everyone! From start to finish it was an extremely pleasant experience. Margaret was a pleasure to work with while booking and confirming. I had a one bedroom move with 3 guys and it took ~4 hours. Ozzi and his team were fantastic---quick, efficient, polite and treated my belongings with care....what more could you ask for?? They wrapped everything for protection over and above anything that I would have expected. They were also prompt for my 1pm elevator reservation (even though their preset ETA window is 12-4, they worked with me since I couldn't start until 1:00, without a hassle even though they didn't have any jobs earlier that morning!). Not only do you get exceptional service with this company, but the price is right!! They were less $$/hr than any of the other 6-7 moving companies I got quotes from....and a plus if you have a very small move: they have a minimum time of 2 hours (where other companies have a 3-4hr minimum). I'll definitely be using AMC for my next move, and you should too!! read more
