Working with Shawn is as good as it gets. The car tow cover on the back cover of my wife's BMW was previously stolen. I had gone to two other nearby 5 Yelp star auto body shops and asked for quotes, which quotes were consistent with each other. I decided to check one last place, Active Auto Body, and saw that it was a much bigger shop, with a number of cars being actively worked on in the back. Christine, the receptionist, was super friendly and professional. She introduced me to Shawn, who inspected the vehicle. Right away, Shawn quoted me a significantly lower price than what I received from the other two shops. In addition, I told Shawn I wanted to sell the car, so we talked about whether it was worth it to buffer the scratches on the car. He spent time going over what he could do, but advised against doing the actual work since I'd be paying more to do work that wouldn't increase the value of my car that much. He even recommended a good tinting shop and offered to connect me to two potential buyers that were looking to buy cars. All in all, the experience with Shawn and Active Auto Body was excellent. Best pricing I could find, but more importantly the friendliness, honesty and business savvyness of Shawn is one of a kind. I can see why the store's motto is "Making friends by accident". They don't cut corners here. They replace all necessary parts in order to make it brand new again. Furthermore, their service is excellent and were able to accommodate me with a couple requests that I had. This place initially caught my attention because of the great reviews but also due to the photos of the rx7 that I assume had been repaired here. If you know anything about cars, you'll know that the rx7 is a rare enthusiast's vehicle. The fact that a rx7 owner trusted this shop to repair his vehicle says something to me. Then I did some more searching and found that there were recommendations of this place on my local car forum. I called, made an appointment, and dropped off my s2000 a couple weeks later. Just got my car back from Shawn. It was estimated to be done next week, but I was having issues with insurance not covering the rental car that long so he was able to get it done today (two days early) so I could avoid the extra charges and enjoy having my car over the weekend. Taking cars into a body shop in general is stressful, but whenever I've taken my cars into Active, he and his staff are awesome. On top of greeting you by name over the phone, they make the process easy when it comes to dealing with insurance. It's like their motto says' "Making friends by accident". Shawn himself is very involved in making sure that things are done right and that there are no shortcuts in quality. He takes time out to explain the damage and how they're going to fix it. He's even taken me into his shop to see my car being worked on! I was bummed because I thought I had damaged my rental car, and showed it to Shawn. He knew immediately that it wasn't damaged and went to the back to grab some cleaning supplies and a hand buffer, taking his time to get what ended up being external paint off. Keep in mind that Shawn is the owner of Active and doesn't need to do the work himself, but he chips in all the time, including hand washing the cars before giving you back the keys. I've had to get my cars repaired a few times at Active Auto, and its the only place that I trust to get the work done right. Shawn is also very honest. When I showed him a scratch on my hood from another incident, he told me that it wasn't worth it to fix. However, he could tell that it still bothered me and touched it up free of charge. I don't see how anyone could ever have a negative experience at Active. Hopefully, I won't need to take my car in for repairs, but if I do, I'm always going to take it to Active Autobody. read more

I'd like to start out with ACTIVE AUTO BODY KICKS F***ING ASS! Okay, now that I've got that out of me, let's start with my review. I was referred to this shop by who? OH YES! you yelpers! My first impression of the Active Auto Body establishment is BUSY! From the reviews I expected a couple of S2000s, and I saw I think 3 the first day I ever step foot there. The staff is extremely nice, and never once did I feel like they were ever being dishonest. It felt like I knew them right away, and I felt I could trust them to take care of my baby. Shawn the owner is super AWESOME and deserves a ^5. You too Eduardo! ^5 haha. I give it just 2 stars. I am impressed with the staff who provided a pretty quick estimate for my car. However, it is pretty pricey. After I left and got a 2nd opinion from other shops, I found out that this shop added many items for replacement unnecessarily. I am sure the shop has a good reputation but many shops can do the same quality of work with a lot less price (less than half of the estimate I got from this place). read more

Shawn the owner is very knowledgeable AND personable. He was patient when explaining the repair process to me and how to work with Geico insurance. My 2007 Prius had been smashed in the front/right side by another car on the highway and needed to be towed. They had over a month to repair the badly damaged car since I was out of town on business. I checked in with them periodically and they assured me it would be fixed when I returned. They were fortunately open Saturday morning for me to pick it up. Eduardo patiently explained the repairs and the bill to me (over $9000 - thank GOD for insurance). This place deserves solid 5 stars! I have used them twice. The first time a few years to fix our family SUV, the second time to fix my Corvette. Both times they did an excellent job. With the Corvette, which is in show-room condition (always garaged, at home and at work, no scratches, dents, or any other imperfections before it was rear ended), I was very cautious and asked them to take a really good care of it. They did. I checked the car in and out very carefully, and it was back to showroom condition. They even aligned the rear bumper better than it was aligned at the factory. I will definitely use these guys in the future! The shop is busy, I had to wait 6 weeks for first available opening but it was well worth the wait! read more

I accidentally opened my car door on my coworkers car and felt really bad. After finding him and talking about it, he agreed to go with me to Active Auto to get an estimate. The mark was fairly huge 3-4" and would not come out with microfiber + water. There was no dent or broken paint. Upon arriving and having the adjuster look at it, he let us know that he thinks it's just the clear coat and it could be simply buffed out. He also took a look at another, but separate concern my coworker had and told him it would most likely need to be refinished. He promptly took the car to the back and began working. After about 10 minutes (maybe even less) he pulled the car back out and the mark that I left was 100% gone.. We were both shocked. The other mark that had already been worked on by another body shop and they (other body shop) said that was the best it was going to get without repainting had been reduced easily by 80% from Active Auto. Instead of saying he needed the car for a few hours and charging an arm and a leg~ He wouldn't let me pay for any of it, saying it took longer for us to wait for his shipment truck to unload. He has definitely earned our business and we will be bringing our cars there and recommending them before anyone else moving forward. read more

This is the first place I went to for an estimate for my car damage. I walked in and Javier was able to help me right away. He was very kind and professional. I ended up choosing this place because it was first choice on my insurance policy. They told me that it would take 5-7 days to repair my car. By the end of day 5, I got a phone call that my car repair was done! When I picked up my car the next day, it was perfect! They even cleaned up the tree sap that was stuck on the side of my door that I couldn't get off without me asking them to. Extra bonus points in my book. It was not worth the full price of painting a full door panel on such an old car, yet we needed to remove the graffiti. They buffed out the small scratches and used filler paint on the large ones. I picked up my car yesterday and all I can say is that I was amazed. This is the third time I had to have body work done on this car and I have used them all three times. Their customer service is awesome!! The communication is awesome and the car was ready a day before they said it would be done. They did a fantastic job on my car--it looks brand new. They had to redo the whole passenger side which was side swiped and pretty scrapped up. They not only made the outside beautiful but they went the extra mile and completely cleaned the whole car inside as well. I accidentally backed out of my garage while the back passenger side door was still opened. The door hit the side of the garage, sustain some cosmetic dents but became misaligned and did not close properly. My niece who is a auto mechanic told me to try Active Auto Body. When I went there, the receptionist called an estimator to look at the car. Without even a quote, he said "can fix it, just give me the keys."
