Everything was surprisingly good for a bowling spot, definitely better than expected. The food quality honestly caught me off guard in a good way. Most house bowling balls were old, dirty, and chipped. I don't use a house ball since I have my own personal bowling ball. They may want to invest in some new balls... just saying. Their bowling games were $9.50 per game that Saturday night. I ended up not bowling. I would love to return to take advantage of their Early Bird Special at $4.75 per game which is a great deal from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM on the weekend. League rate is $5.00 per game which is a steal, too (please note league must be hosted by Action Lanes to qualify). Bowling shoes are $5.00 per pair which isn't bad, but I have my own shoes so I don't need them. Please check out their other rates and promos online. When I was here, I had a wonderful conversation with Caleb. He was working behind the counter. Super friendly and nice young man. Now let's talk about how I came to know of Pin Point Bowling Concepts (PPBC) located inside Bowlero Montebello... I recently started bowling at the Alhambra Valley Bowl. I wanted to either get a new bowling ball or have my 30+ year old bowling ball refitted. I inquired with Joe who works there if he knows of any good bowling pro shop. He recommended Roger who is the owner of PPBC. Thank you Joe for the great recommend! I arrived here an hour before closing time on a weekday. Parking was easy. They are located to the right of the arcade. Just walk through the small hallway and open the door. Btw, you cannot enter the shop from the outside even though there is a door there. Please enter shop from inside the bowling alley. Shop was cozy, comfortable, clean, and organized. Upon entry, Roger and Jairo gave me a wonderful and warm welcome. Both were super friendly and nice. Thank you! Roger is very knowledgeable. He is an expert in anything bowling from A to Z. He said my bowling ball is still in good condition and since I'm only bowling socially at this time, I should just get it refitted. He took the time and patience to explain why a refit was necessary after so many years. He also shared with me some tips on cleaning and fixing my bowling shoes. Thank you Roger for your insightful expertise and super helpful tips! He got my measurements for span and pitch that day. Price to refit was very reasonable. My bowling ball was ready for pick-up in 3 days. On pick-up day, my eyes widened with sparkle when I saw my shiny bowling ball as if it was brand new. Cool! Roger made sure my thumb inserts fit perfectly not too tight and not too loose. My thumb hole was slightly loose so he added some tape. I've never bowled with tape in my thumb hole so it was something new to try. I also bought a cute shirt and shoe covers to support PPBC. We ended up waiting over 2 hours for a lane and never even got to bowl. At that point, we had no choice but to leave. I completely understand that places can get busy, but giving customers an estimated 30-minute wait when it turns into more than 2 hours is extremely frustrating, especially when you have kids with you. A countdown started at 30 minutes left and was displayed on the score screen. The really weird part was at about 10 minutes left, our scores disappeared and never came back. We were still able to play but it was not cool that our whole game's scores were just gone. The time limit made us feel very rushed, which was especially awkward because we ordered food and drinks. The good: As many have said, the best thing about Highland Park Bowl is the beautiful vintage interior design and cool history.
