Lamb Riblets, Pork belly, Stuffed Dates
    Kristina R.

Truly a hidden gem, tucked away in the corner of this shopping strip. Service was top tier & the food was soo delicious! I love the Texas twist they add to their Mediterranean dishes with the smokey wood fire taste. The stuffed dates were to die for and my favorite app. Other dishes we got here were lamb riblets, pork belly & octopus. For our entrees we had the short rib, which fell right off the bone, and was sooo tender.. along with the paella mar. 10/10 no notes -- will definitely be back here!

LOCATION: Conveniently located right off of IH-10, Acu is on the corner of a strip mall with a comfortable, ambient indoor seating area, while also sporting a decorated outdoor eating space. It's an awesome place with a beautiful brick oven in view of almost all tables. FOOD: The food is so delicious and unique that you will probably have to go back a few times to try more items. The pizza and salad pictured below is delicious, albeit slightly smaller portioned than I'd like. The pita bread and Labneh Feta dip is simple, but absolutely great. My fiancé and I need to try more dips in the future as well. DRINKS: All the wine we've had has been satisfactory. The wine selection goes from average priced/tasting to very premium choices. Overall this place is awesome. A pricey, but worthwhile experience and unlike almost anything out there. Have never had bad service, and the setup is extremely nice. An incomparable, mixed menu of Mediterranean, Spanish, and Texan influences. You should definitely try it out!

I went here on a week day for a birthday dinner with a friend and was delighted with the experience. The decor and music reminded me of being in a Spanish restaurant. The Mediterranean cuisine highlights delectable treats from a variety of cultures. Portions are hearty and tasty. I didn't even have room to order an entrée after enjoying my sampler dip plate, beet salad, and house salad. Though a little bit pricier than your average restaurant, I felt it was totally worth it. After all, you get what you pay for. Be sure to check out the bar menu. They've got some tasty treats there as well. I look forward to dining here again.

Another delightful dinner at the Acu Bistro Baar. A gem in the area. We began our meal with very fresh Baba ghanoush and fresh baked pita bread. We tried a variety of small plates..grilled Pulpo, Porchetta and the Onion Gratin. All were delicious and service was outstanding. They serve a lovely Tempranillo by the glass that were thoroughly enjoyed. Kudos to the staff!

Looking for something new and different, and after reading the reviews and checking out the pictures of the food and the menu, I found myself at Acu Bistro Bar. After recently returning from Madrid, the paella on the menu was a big selling point, vale'. After being seated, our server ran through the menu and specials for the night. He was very knowledgeable of the menu and offered great suggestions. I decide to start off with a cocktail, so I order their Anejo Old Fashion, the Brazino as my main course, the Paella Acu for the table and the molten chocolate cake for dessert....giddy up! Note: the Paella is made to order and will require additional preparation time (45 minutes I believe) Their Anejo Old Fashion uses Herradura silver along with angostura bitters and chocolate bitters which adds a nice subtle difference. They serve it in a nice glass with a large rock.....well done. This is a nice twist on a whiskey standard. The Branzino comes out next and looks spectacular. It is prepared and served whole fried fish style with the skin on. The fish is actually flaky and tender on the inside with a nice seasoning. The only caveat is to be careful with the fish bones. It is served on a bed of rice pilaf which is fluffy and also seasoned well. Next up is the Paella Acu. Once on the table, you can see the chicken, shrimp, mussels, calamari all mixed into the saffron seasoned rice and it all smells delicious. All the different proteins come together in a melody of flavors as the saffron rice pulls them all together. Very good paella! Vale'! Finally, after loosening my belt, I go for the molten chocolate cake. It is served warm with vanilla ice cream ala mode. The outside is firm and moist and once you scoop a piece to release the inner melted chocolate you are in heaven. I was definitely ready for a long nap after this glorious meal. Overall, the meal and overall experience at Acu was really memorable. I look forward to returning and exploring more of their menu.

Happy Eating All! If you want to get out today and try some fantastic family traditional cooking, try Acu'. We were not a disappointed this evening grazing our way through their fantastic menu. Bacon wrapped stuffed dates - these should be outlawed or atleast not shared with others as you will want to horde them all to yourself. The watermelon salad and roasted peaches and burrito were fantastic. The fire roasted octopus was out of this world. Watching them cook it in the big pizza oven and then coming out sizzling was magnificent. You have to try the hand made pitas toasted in the wood oven. Then finished it off with a wonderful white chocolate bread pudding with a fig sauce. Even better was the family service. Thanks Karlo and family for a great experience, we will return for more.

This small bistro is tucked away in the most unpredictable spot. It's the last business in the business strip. But don't let that fool you. The restaurant decor and ambiance is romantic and relaxing. The staff is friendly and on spot with their service. I've decided to try quail tonight and a bullet rye old fashioned (Came recommended from a friend). This dish is t"o die for"! The quails (2) are stuffed and sit on a bed of grilled Brussels sprouts and hummus. The quail is stuffed with a rice that is so flavorful! I'd highly recommend this dish. Great place for 2-4. If you only have two, then sit at the bar.

From the moment you approach the restaurant- Not even walk in- you are greeted by a professional and hospitable staff. In the front 2 young workers gave us sangria samples and helped take my photo. So smiley and kind. Then I checked into my table at the host stand. Our table was in a gorgeous lit room by the stairs. The inside was so breathtakingly beautiful and clean . The restrooms as well. Our server Omar quickly filled our drink cups with cold water and took our actual drink order. They have premium lemomades and also fountain drinks with free refills. When he returned he gave us great recommendations from their 8 dollar tapas menu on happy hour (M-F 3-6). We ordered 3: Tacos de Cochinita Pibil / Slow cooked pork marinated in achiote sauce . Calamares Fritos / Fried steak calamari w/ alioli sauce ... Albondigas / Five Spanish pork meatballs marinated in wine tomato sauce with bread .... The bread with the meatballs should be toasted and it was cold. The calamari were AMAZING. Not chewy at all. And tacos unique and flavorful. It took a while to decide but with Omar's guidance and a lot of research beforehand, I reccomend large parties order these to get the best tasting experience: Parrillada Española / Spanish grilled feast with morcilla, 4oz Spanish sirloin, chistorra, three fried jumbo shrimp, and poached potatoes with alioli Toro Paella / Toro's Classic recipe voted best in San Antonio! Jumbo shrimp, mussels, chicken, calamari, pork belly & spanish chorizo . The grilled platter came out first very fast and the meats were delectable. Love the sausage. Again... toast the bread but everything else was delicious. The paella didn't take long at all. It lived up to our expectations. Delicious and hot, enough to fill us up with whatever room was left. The nicest part was Omar brought us complimentary shots of some sort of strawberry cocktail with a chili rim. He was so thoughtful and brought my sister who was 12 a non alcoholic version. We cheered to a good time. It was so good!!! Then we asked for dessert recommendations. Omar suggested the Torrijas / Classic spanish dessert, bread soaked in sweet cream, fried & drizzled in honey .. so that's what we got. It was SO yummy like tres leches French toast. With their website you get a 30 dollar off first visit coupon using the inkind app. I signed up and it worked perfectly. After the discount all that food came out to $150. Insane for a party of 5. I tipped 30 and using that inkind app got 30 dollars cash back to use anywhere on the app. But ill use it here. Come to TORO for a great time. Linger. Talk. Enjoy unique flavors. Felt like going to Spain.

We shared a bunch of tapas and one of the signature paellas -- every dish had that perfect balance of flavor, fresh ingredients, and just enough flair without trying too hard. The rice in the paella was on point, crispy bits and all. Atmosphere is lively but not chaotic -- great for a relaxed dinner that stretches into a couple of hours. Dim lighting, nice energy, and you can actually hear the people at your table. Service was smooth and friendly, no rushing, just good pacing so you can enjoy the meal. If you're in San Antonio and craving real Spanish vibes -- tapas, sangria, paella, the works -- Toro delivers without the tourist-trap nonsense. It's become one of my go-to spots when I want quality food and a chill night out. Fair prices for the quality, clean spot, and that certified Spanish restaurant stamp means they're doing it right. Highly recommend. We'll be back for sure -- 5 stars, no notes. Go hungry and bring friends to share everything. Toro Kitchen + Bar - do it.

I love the industrial vibe of the place. It was a rainy Saturday and the place wasn't particularly busy, so the service was good! Our server was friendly and knowledgable about the menu, and the food, while small in portion size (they are tapas, after all) was delicious. We started with the tostadas de chorizo and the house sangria. Both were super tasty. Then we ordered the chistorra (Spanish sausage) and pan con tomate, and finally we shared the albondiga...a giant meatball that was perfection. Our friendly young male server suggested a new Portuguese beer that just came out. It comes in a 4-pack, 6.8 oz bottles with convenient pull-tabs & on a bucket of ice. We went for it! Not bitter, light bodied & easy to drink. We savored the ambiance in the outdoor patio as it FINALLY cooled down to the low 70s! We were given water in a carafe and 2 glasses. I'm sensitive to the taste of municipal tap water so I should've asked if it was filtered water? You'll have to ask for ice cubes if you want ice. Our tapas were the scallops ceviche tostadas(2 tortillas holding them) & a flatbread with Serrano jamon, sliced pears, melted brie, onions & drizzled balsamic glaze. Hubs liked it but I thought it was lukewarm & skimpy on the ham. The cheese wasn't gooey & cooled off. Was slightly gamey to me. He loved his scallop ceviche tostada. The restaurant wasn't very occupied but our server said it gets pretty packed in the evening esp. when there's live music. More people came in when we were almost finished eating. We ate outside because they must have just disinfected & mopped the floors because the inside had a super strong chemical smell. Lots of metal tables and chairs in the patio.

Valet is complimentary when dining at the restaurant. That is particularly helpful in this cold weather. When we entered the restaurant the dining area was empty. There were a few patrons at the bar but no one at any dining tables. Maybe a sign?? The reviews on Google and Yelp are all over the place. The decor is nice but the seating is a little outdated and worn. I can understand this, though, because I am sure they get a lot of family traffic being a hotel so close to Six Flags. Our waiter, Robert, came right over to take our order. He was friendly and personable. The Restaurant Week menu had two choices for each course, so my friend and I ordered everything so we could try it. First up, the appetizers were poblano and corn soup or heirloom tomato salad with blue cheese. The soup was delicious but was not very hot temperature-wise. The salad is a beautiful idea, but the tomatoes were just bad. They were out of season, mushy, and tasteless. I love tomatoes, so I was disappointed. Next up entrees. My friend had the braised short rib with beans and rice. I had the Redfish with rice and green beans. The short rib was excellent, but it came out at room temperature. Considering we were the only ones there that was a red flag. My fish was seasoned well, and I enjoyed it, but it was room temperature also. Is there a draft in the kitchen? Other reviews mentioned their food was not hot so it seems like a trend. For the amount you pay, the food should be piping hot when it comes to the table. Finally, we got to dessert. I had the creme Brulee cheesecake and my friend had the campfire dark chocolate torte. The desserts were delicious with no complaints at all. This place has a lot of potential, but there are too many restaurants in San Antonio, so you have to make a positive impact on your customers, so they want to return.
