This is a upscale Mediterranean restaurant located in the Dominion area. They have a nice outdoor seating area and the inside is very trendy. The service and staff are very attentive throughout your stay. We ordered the cherry tomatoes and bacon wrapped stuffed dates for our appetizers. The cherry tomatoes dish was very good and the sauce was delightful. The dates were good also but you could not taste the two cheeses inside. Next we had the whole branzino and the rack of lamb. Both dishes were presented beautifully and were large portions. The fish had that woodfire smoky flavor without it being too much. The lamb was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Acu, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways Rather than brave the Mothers Day brunch hordes, I instead took my wife to a Friday night Mother's celebration dinner at Acu. First time here. We walked in to a very enticing environment and were promptly seated and greeted by our waitress, Kim. Upon studying the menu, I said "I hope the food tastes as good as it sounds". Let me say it wasn't that one dish was fantastic or that two were fantastic, every single thing we ordered was fantastic! The short rib sliders in pita appetizer was really good- melt in your mouth good. The shrimp in white wine sauce appetizer was so good we had to get extra pita bread to soak up every drop. We sad plot a wedge salad- fresh and refreshing like a wedge should be. My wife had a pizza with arugula and added some sausage which she refused to share, I had the lamb ch OP s c with fingerlings and artichoke hearts. Soooo good! We shared a great bottle of Sangiovese and finished it all up with a molten chocolate dessert we it's ice cream accompaniment. The molten chocolate had a crème brûlée type chocolate crust with cinnamon accents and all the hot melted chocolate luciousness underneath. I have not had this delicious a meal in maybe ever. Run, don't walk to Acu! Your taste buds will be glad you did! read more

LOCATION: Conveniently located right off of IH-10, Acu is on the corner of a strip mall with a comfortable, ambient indoor seating area, while also sporting a decorated outdoor eating space. It's an awesome place with a beautiful brick oven in view of almost all tables. FOOD: The food is so delicious and unique that you will probably have to go back a few times to try more items. The pizza and salad pictured below is delicious, albeit slightly smaller portioned than I'd like. The pita bread and Labneh Feta dip is simple, but absolutely great. My fiancé and I need to try more dips in the future as well. DRINKS: All the wine we've had has been satisfactory. The wine selection goes from average priced/tasting to very premium choices. Overall this place is awesome. A pricey, but worthwhile experience and unlike almost anything out there. Have never had bad service, and the setup is extremely nice. An incomparable, mixed menu of Mediterranean, Spanish, and Texan influences. You should definitely try it out! read more

I went here on a week day for a birthday dinner with a friend and was delighted with the experience. The decor and music reminded me of being in a Spanish restaurant. The Mediterranean cuisine highlights delectable treats from a variety of cultures. Portions are hearty and tasty. I didn't even have room to order an entrée after enjoying my sampler dip plate, beet salad, and house salad. Though a little bit pricier than your average restaurant, I felt it was totally worth it. Fabulous appetizers that will wake every last taste bud and get them working. The stuffed dates, it took every ounce of self control not to order more. We shared them with the table. We had a party of 12 with seven different appetizers two soups a few salads a Paella dish and lamb. That's a pretty good assortment for a valid review to say you have to try it I confidently can say you won't be disappointed. The drink menu was average prices with some unique mixes. I didn't venture far from my go to mojito. That was very good and not everyone can make a mojito the get a B+ on that but I drink them everywhere! Most of my table were wine drinkers and bought a bottle they seemed happy with the assortment. My group isn't a dessert kinda group so that will be for you to discover. The bill averages a hundred to a hundred and fifty a couple. Just depends how many drinks you order. They will not separate a bill of over six people and they added a gratuity. So we all did the modern day pay the one guy on your phone and hope he comes out on top. I had already added my bill when I ordered and added my gratuity's. It was more than the divided amount on the bill. Depending on the man who paid they may have shorted themselves by adding it in. My group usually tips very very good but that's one of those debates that never end, right ! We did have reservations and their tables were full you may want to call ahead. Food was amazing! We got a paella, and braised ribs and a pizza for the kids. It was honestly very good food. Unfortunately the service was awful. For a bill of $180 this is the service we got. The server completely ignored us the whole time we were there. After dropping off our food he never came back. Not even to offer a much needed water refill. Another server or maybe the manager, I am not sure who it was, came over to box the pizza for us. This was probably the nicest thing someone did for us while we were there. He put the pizza in the bar area right behind me and my husband which we did not notice. When it was time for us to leave, my husband asked our server to please box our food. Which he took and brought back boxed up in a bag which had a torn up bottom. My husband asked our server for the pizza that had been boxed earlier to which the server rudely responded "it's right behind you" as if we were asking stupid questions. My husband then proceeded to ask for a new bag as that one he brought to us was coming apart at the bottom as I mentioned earlier. Server said, "yeah, okay" and completely ignored us after that. He walked past us several times and made eye contact with us but never came back. Eventually my husband got tired of waiting and we left. I am not sure if it's because we had kids or because of how we were dressed but the servers attitude was one that made me feel as if our business was a burden to the restaurant. Looking for something new and different, and after reading the reviews and checking out the pictures of the food and the menu, I found myself at Acu Bistro Bar. After recently returning from Madrid, the paella on the menu was a big selling point, vale'. After being seated, our server ran through the menu and specials for the night. He was very knowledgeable of the menu and offered great suggestions. I decide to start off with a cocktail, so I order their Anejo Old Fashion, the Brazino as my main course, the Paella Acu for the table and the molten chocolate cake for dessert....giddy up! Note: the Paella is made to order and will require additional preparation time (45 minutes I believe) Their Anejo Old Fashion uses Herradura silver along with angostura bitters and chocolate bitters which adds a nice subtle difference. They serve it in a nice glass with a large rock.....well done. This is a nice twist on a whiskey standard. The Branzino comes out next and looks spectacular. It is prepared and served whole fried fish style with the skin on. The fish is actually flaky and tender on the inside with a nice seasoning. The only caveat is to be careful with the fish bones. It is served on a bed of rice pilaf which is fluffy and also seasoned well. Next up is the Paella Acu. Once on the table, you can see the chicken, shrimp, mussels, calamari all mixed into the saffron seasoned rice and it all smells delicious. All the different proteins come together in a melody of flavors as the saffron rice pulls them all together. Very good paella! Vale'! Finally, after loosening my belt, I go for the molten chocolate cake. It is served warm with vanilla ice cream ala mode. The outside is firm and moist and once you scoop a piece to release the inner melted chocolate you are in heaven. I was definitely ready for a long nap after this glorious meal. Overall, the meal and overall experience at Acu was really memorable. I look forward to returning and exploring more of their menu. read more

Watching them cook it in the big pizza oven and then coming out sizzling was magnificent. You have to try the hand made pitas toasted in the wood oven. Was invited out to dinner tonight with some friends of ours and honestly had never heard of this place, but can't turn down dinner with great people. Was so impressed with both the food and hospitality- we're definitely going to make this our regular date night spot! From the minute we walked in, they greeted us by holding the door. My friend and I were staying at Embassy Suites Landmark and I wanted wood fired pizza. I did a search on Yelp and found Acu. We made reservations for Friday evening just a couple of hours before just to make sure we didn't have a wait as was suggested on their website. We arrived about 5 minutes late because I didn't turn into the right place but we were seated shortly after we arrived. We ordered drinks. My friend wanted a cucumber gin martini and I ordered a glass of French Rose'. Her martini was excellent, and I don't like gin, and my glass was good. We had the shishito peppers and tzatziki with homemade pita for our appetizers. Everything was fresh and delicious. We ordered the Dolce Piccante pizza as our meal and the bread pudding for dessert. The pizzas are small. You definitely need apps in addition to a pizza if you are sharing or even if eating one alone. But it was absolutely delicious. I hate bread pudding typically but I did like this one. I'm simply not a dessert person so I only had a few bites but it was very good. Oh, the ice cream on top of it was homemade. I am also not a fan of ice cream but theirs was delicious. We came back the next night so my pics are a mix of both nights. Shout out to our servers. I'll have to edit this later to add their names but they were great. We will absolutely miss Acu but we will return. read more

The menu is not huge, but there is enough variety to suit anyone. We were eyeing the paella, which sounded really good, but decided to go with an assortment of other things for maximum exposure. OMG! The best vegetable sides ive had in quite a while! Slightly loud....hard to carry on conversations with six people. The food and the service...top tier! Our server took the time, when asked to explain some of the dishes we wanted to try. He did such a great job describing that we ordered the following... Roasted vine ripened cherry tomatoes sitting atop a creamy feta concoction after being drizzled with some vinegar and spices Zucchini fritters. Small light clouds of zucchini that are so small and yet so packed with flavor. Shishito peppers roasted and sprinkled throughout with some tangy feta cheese. Caramelized onions covered in a creamy melted cheese. A pizza with Serrano ham and Calabrian infused honey and manchego cheese. A second pizza which was just as fabulous as the first. I should also mention that they make a mean bloody mary! Food came out piping hot, and so quickly.
