This is an adorable shop that sells so many different variations of teas. A quick note, I am not sure if Yelp has the store hours correct because I went after the hour and the store was still open. I am not sure if it is because of the holiday season but if you want to make sure, just call them before you go! I went here specifically to get the Chicago edition tea boxes. The one I got had the Chicago skyline and did a play on word with Chai Town. I absolutely loved it and it is a great souvenir gift! The store is lined with all the types of tea and you can pick up each one and smell it. I got the Yelp check in offer of 1 free tea and tried a fruity one but it only smelled great, didn't taste that great. My friend loves green tea and she saw that they sold green tea mints but wasn't sure if it tasted good so we asked for samples and the store had samples for us to try! I make my way to Adagio when I need to refresh my supply of tea. Super easy to find off of Washington St. and Jefferson with parking nearby, the shop decor is bright and clean, welcoming and organized Each tea has a small jar of the sample tea that customers can open and smell. This to me is the most important part of tea shopping. I want clear labels showing contents, but I also want to be able to open and smell the teas. Very nicely done! The selection is wide ranging from green to black and every type in between. The staff is happy to offer a sample of the teas you want to try - and they are served in actual cups to reduce the amount of waste - which I endorse. Loose teas are packaged in mostly 3 oz portions with pre-printed ingredients listed. Steeping time is also provided. Teas are also available in 15 bag lots. read more

The tea is pretty cheap when compared to place such as Argo Tea or David's Tea. The lady at the counter was very helpful in recommending teas. She was also very knowledgeable of new teas and current deals going on. She did sign me up for the loyalty program which I would've like a little more explanation of as I didn't know what it entailed very clearly. There is a lot of variety of tea as well as good seasonal options. Overall, very impressed and will definitely return. read more

Wish I could give this place zero stars. I had some questions that couldn't be answered on their website. I called a few times a day at different times, consecutively for two days. Finally I decided to leave a voice mail and a couple hours later one of the staff members got back to me from a completely different number which I thought was pretty odd. I had a specific question about the ingredients as the wordings on the labels are rather vague. The person who I spoke with was condescending and seemed bothered to have returned my call. Tea should be something unadulterated and without artificial ingredients. I will continue to purchase my teas from Rishi Teas and David's Tea. I'd rather spend the extra few dollars for superior quality and knowing exactly what's in my cup of tea. read more

The service was impeccable - I was asked questions about my usual consumption, favorite types, etc. and they gave a handful of samples to try that fit these characteristics. Went for a tea tasting . Very cool experience. Learned so much about the different types. Tasted some different varieties of teas I never would have tried just walking in the store on my own . So many different choices . The Matcha is a great caffeine replacement ! I was dragging from a 16 hour shift this did perk me up. Tea lover this could be the best or worst thing Ive come across in my adventures in downtown naperville. Mainly because I wouldve hours in here looking at and smelling possibly even trying all the various types of tea and over stocking if I had the time.This is the most extensive tea shop Ive run across in a long time. They have just about every tea I could think of and some that were unexpected. I grabbed 5 bags of lose leaf tea and I couldnt be happier with my purchase. It was reasonable for the type of tea and I even got a free bag. I got some traditional teas white, black, green, not so traditional rose and blueberry. Wouldve gotten elderberry but I have way to much already, and I couldnt make up my mind. Plus the tea I got I was able to look at and smell before choose and they were beautiful and smelled amazing. If your a tea lover I highly suggest taking an adventure to this shop even of your not from naperville. read more

There were several bugs crawling around in the tea that we purchased from them. I tried contacting corporate several times and they never returned my call. I finally got a hold of the store manager and even she stopped communicating with me. After having to follow up again, the store manager forwarded me the this response from corporate and still they didn't have the nerve to call me back: "If we were the source of the bugs, we would have had a multitude of customers reporting this. With a solitary case and a 2016 purchase, it's highly likely that the bugs were introduced after the purchase. We've had no other claims." They called us liars and claim we didn't store the tea well. We stored the tea perfectly fine. The bugs were in the tea during production. In fact, bugs can live in a sealed tin for years by just eating the tea leaves. For them not to believe me is outrageous. I have the proof, they don't. They have no idea how we stored the tin. I know exactly how and I can assure you no other bugs were able to get into the sealed tin. read more

I have bought from Adagio teas many times. Instead of buying big bags of teas again, I started buying the small sample bags that are suppose to make quite a few cups. This last time I bought 8 samples. Out of the 8, two of them were decent and the rest I will throw away. I e mailed them about it and instead of apologizing for the teas not tasting like they should, they told me I was brewing them wrong. I didn't expect a refund or them to send me anything. I just wanted to let them know. While some of their teas are decent, their customer service sucks. I won't buy from them again. Bought both bagged and loose tea over the last 2 months. Started looking at the packaging and noticed that expiration dates were this and next month on some items. Some had expiration dates out a couple years which tells me they leave their products out to sell that are probably not fresh. I called and brought this to the attention of the store manager who tried to talk her way out of it. I also mentioned the less than useful customer service they provide by having to leave a message and then wait hours for a callback instead of them directly answering their phone. Big fan of this place. My daughters have me a gift card for Adagio several years ago. I finally got around to using it. I know next to nothing about tea, except that I love iced tea in general and if I am at an Asian restaurant, I'm swigging hot green tea like a camel swigs water after crossing the Sahara. However, the young man at Adagio schooled me in the dozens and dozens of tea varieties at Adagio, let me try a glass of ice tea of my choice and then we exercised my gift card. Two days later, we all stopped in. This Tim the two women there were just as helpful and even explained the Matcha craze that somehow I missed (along with Pokemon). The prices are reasonable here, selection is terrific, staff is great. They offer a customer loyalty program where points are accumulated as purchases are made and can then be redeemed for significant discounts. I joined that as I see myself buying my tea from Adagio and Jimmy loves to save money! Probably the best thing about Adagio is that now I get to have a little, mini adventure each time I brew a glass of iced tea at home, since I have five different varieties of Adagio tea to choose from! read more

Great little store with wonderful smells and even better tastes! If you have ever been able to score a parking place in downtown Naperville, you know you don't leave such a priceless treasure without doing a little extra shopping. My husband and I were on our way back to the said parked car when I spied this cute shop. A friend had given me some tea from here for Christmas so I was eager to experience it for myself. I walked in expecting to carefully sniff and slowly select a tea. They had samples of raspberry green tea and that was all I needed. Found, paid, done and a cute bag to boot. I walked out and checked in while showing my hubz my tea. What? A free drink if you check in on Yelp! I walked back in, got my free iced tea and walked out even happier. Over the last two years I've become more of a coffee person than tea, and in the last year I discovered that I'm actually more a fan of coffee creamer than coffee itself... Then somewhere in the last few weeks I looked in the mirror after two years of of almost entirely switching over to heavy, flavored creamers combined with mere drops of coffee, and saw the after effects of so much lactose/sugar/godknowswhat/hazelnutflavoring and it involved my thighs and butt and weird knobby area just up and over from my knees and wasn't pretty. Soooo back to tea I go... I came after my Dad's suggestion before our dinner date up the street, and I'm really glad we stopped in. I wasn't planning on getting anything, as we (supposedly) have one rule in my apartment --- even though there's lots of rules, it's just that the person who makes them likes to be dramatic and say, 'I only __insert one seemingly simple thing__ of you' and then I of course by that time I've already not done whatever that one simple thing is, possibly because I was concentrating on doing or not doing one of the many other things that are a part of the 'one simple rule' plan --- Where was I again? Oh yeah. The 'one' rule. It's that we don't buy any more tea. We have enough. We have more than enough. We don't need anymore. But I always break the rules and I had a few bucks just burning a hole in my pocket, plus they had a great Yelp deal and a special that you can combine when you buy four packs of tea, you get the fifth one free. We were able to test out some of the teas, and while I feel like the test brew was entirely too strong, I had a feeling that with the right ratio of heat to water to tea they'd be gems. So both my Dad and I took a leap of faith and bought, well, a relative ton of tea. We went a little crazy on the chai and got the chocolate chai (hoping to curb dessert cravings), the Thai chai (hoping to pair the coco-nutty lemongrass overtones with my frequent Thai meals), the spearmint tea for a crisp summer white tea and a vanilla rooibos chai because it tastes so good with just a little bit of creamer (old habits die hard). The store was incredibly busy when we went in, but the staff took the time to help us, let us taste our teas and answer our questions and while I left with a bunch more tea that I need like a hole in the head, I'm going on seven days without java and I'm already down a few lbs. I had always heard of Adagio Teas but never tried it until recently. I was impressed just by walking in, the walls are lined with tea in canisters and bags. You can actually SMELL the tea too, which is a big thing for me since some OTHER tea places don't allow you to fondle your own teas. They are also nicely categorized by type of tea, green, black, you get the idea. The best part of this place though? They sell sample size bags, amazing! You aren't stuck buying pounds of tea that tastes like moldy grass that you spent a small fortune on! I limited myself to 3 sample bags but could have easily gone for more, in fact I have a to try list after my little excursion. The staff is also very helpful and extremely knowledgeable. I got a tea tasting as well by a new employee. He was nice and enthusiastic even if he did make a huge mess. It was a great way to learn more about the teas, and even though I don't think his managers were happy with his performance (based on the glares in his direction) I think he did awesome for his first day and definitely helped me out. So no complaints here! I will definitely be coming back here for my tea fix, you can't go wrong with this place. If you like tea you're sure to find something you like. read more

I've been ordering from 2 online tea retailers for about 6 years now, Adagio being one of them. I was so excited to hear that Adagio was opening in Naperville! Unfortunately, they close a little early (7pm during the week and 6pm on weekends) so I've never been downtown early enough to visit until this past Sunday. From the moment I stepped in the door I was welcomed and the employee explained how everything worked, including the self-serve tea bar. I spent a good half hour sniffing all the teas, and finally chose to make a cup of Chestnut. Wow, delicious! I just wish there was a seating area to sit and enjoy the teas. I ended up walking out the door with ten new flavors, and my old stand-by, Golden Monkey. The flavored teas just have a hint of flavor, as to not overpower the tea, like some loose leaf teas I have tasted. I saw online that Adagio sold similar things and I'm very close to downtown Naperville so I popped in to take a look. Margaret helped me find the PERFECT cast iron set for him. The pot and cups all together with tax came to about $85 and I was honestly expecting to pay a lot more. The quality is incredible - especially for that price. Margaret asked what kind of tea my bf liked and when I said he liked green tea she then picked out FIVE different green tea samples and gave them to me for free. I just left here and had the most pleasant experience! I was helped by Laura who is awesome! Very friendly and super helpful. I love that I can smell every tea before purchasing, unlike ordering off a website. You can try any tea you want before purchase, and they'll even make it the way you like (sugar, honey, etc.) They offer a loyalty membership which is free to sign up, and for every $1 you spend you get a point. I went to Adagio for one of their tea tastings, and I have nothing but good things to say about the experience. To start, Brett was our tea instructor(?) For the tasting, and he was both informative and amiable. Each tea tasting has room for a maximum of four people. During the tea tasting, you first receive background information on various types of tea. It is both informational for both people new to tea as well as those who have been drinking tea for a while. At the end, each participant gets to choose a tea to try -each participant getting to try four different types of tea. And when you leave, you get to take a complimentary tea pot with you as well. They are plain but handsome. As for the rest of the store, there is a wide variety of tea to choose from as well as tea accessories. Their tea is fair trade, and there even are some postcards around the store so that you can write letters to the farmers to tell them how much you enjoy their tea. An additional fun aspect of Adagio is that they have themed series of teas ranging from Chicago to Doctor Who. Overall, I think this is a great tea store that has quality product and unique features. This was a five star experience. I went on a whim yesterday, my walking buddy ordered a chai, and I requested information on cleansing teas. The lady told me about matcha, and even made two samples. Really delicious. I bought the powdered matcha and made it at home. I used a metal whisk, and I may return to buy the bamboo whisk - the results were frothier and more completely dissolved. I find the bad reviews here stunning! I really enjoy Adagio, and I love that the salespeople are not crazy pushy! They are just friendly enough, they great you, thus letting you know that they are there if you need them! Perhaps I am in the minority, but I'm less likely to buy something if they employees hover over me! This is a great place to get real and flavorful tea! The set up is easy to follow and wonderful to spend time in. The people working there were wonderful, kind, and helpful! Worth a trip for those of us coming from a distance! My daughters and I were immediately greeted by Sue when we entered the store. She offered us samples and answered many questions for us. We felt no pressure, and we really enjoyed sampling the teas. I ended up purchasing a few that were new to me, and today I'm enjoying a couple of them at home. Loved my experience at Adagio yesterday in Naperville. The store is very welcoming, from the clean and well organized displays to the light ambience, but especially due to the adept employees. They are highly knowledgeable (which impresses me so much as there is quite a large tea selection), and they offer tastings of tea at every inkling of your interest, with great recommendations. They also are very low-pressure, I never felt like I was being "sold" to, which honestly made me want to buy more. I could tell they very much enjoy Adagio's teas and their job. I discovered two teas that I am now in love with, a black Yunnan Jig, and an Almond Oolong. Prices are very reasonable, there is something for everyone here, with a very good selection of tea-ware as well! We came from Michigan to do some errands in the area, I'm very happy Adagio was on our to-do list. read more

Having an hour to kill in Naperville downtown due to an unforeseen issue, I wandered around on a hot day looking for refugre and a little refreshment. Yelp app to the rescue!!! While I was originally searching for a Starbucks or something similar with some free wifi and shade, I settled on checking out Adagio teas, and I'm glad that I did... Walking in, I was instantly hit with the very welcomed air conditioning, and a smile from the staff while letting me know that I was welcome to try their two free samples of the day (the mango green ice tea was quite tasty!) Looking around, the store is done beautifully... there are jars of each and every tea they sell above each package, with an easy to open seal that allows you to smell the scents of that particular mix. The interesting thing was, there were easily 75+ teas available in the store to check out! After skimming the store, I let the nice staff member know that this was my first time here, and that if I wanted an ice tea, can I just pick from any of the teas on the wall? She confirmed, and said they're all available! I finally settled on a vanilla green tea, and she set about preparing the water for steeping, cooling, and extracting the flavors from the tea. 5 minutes later, I walked out of the store with a nice cool ice tea drink with some very original flavors. Verdict: Super friendly staff, HUGE selection of tea flavors to the point it's almost overwhelming (in a good way), and a reasonable price point for a nice iced tea. I like it!
