Worth a trip for those of us coming from a distance! My daughters and I were immediately greeted by Sue when we entered the store. She offered us samples and answered many questions for us. We felt no pressure, and we really enjoyed sampling the teas. I ended up purchasing a few that were new to me, and today I'm enjoying a couple of them at home. Loved my experience at Adagio yesterday in Naperville. The store is very welcoming, from the clean and well organized displays to the light ambience, but especially due to the adept employees. They are highly knowledgeable (which impresses me so much as there is quite a large tea selection), and they offer tastings of tea at every inkling of your interest, with great recommendations. They also are very low-pressure, I never felt like I was being "sold" to, which honestly made me want to buy more. I could tell they very much enjoy Adagio's teas and their job. I discovered two teas that I am now in love with, a black Yunnan Jig, and an Almond Oolong. Prices are very reasonable, there is something for everyone here, with a very good selection of tea-ware as well! We came from Michigan to do some errands in the area, I'm very happy Adagio was on our to-do list. read more

I never knew there could be a variety of teas just for oolong or black, or green tea etc. When I walked in it was a bit overwhelming seeing the walls of teas, but the man who working there (I wish I got his name) was very informative and helpful. I was not rushed at all and was free to ask questions about their products. To match their service, their products are AMAZING. The loose leaf teas are best teas I've ever had and it's so calming to watch them expand. I also bought the ingenuitea cup for a birthday present for my mom. Adagio differentiates itself from other tea shops that I have visited in the way that they present their teas. At other shops, all the teas are in big canisters that line one big wall and a sales associate then helps you select your teas. In terms of sales, a set up like that is good since a customer can be more inclined to buy if they have one on one assistance. But, on the other, if can turn off customers if the salesperson is too pushy. Adagio gets rid of that big wall and instead has little canisters of tea along several walls in their shop that you can pick up and smell. The teas are organized by type. Also, the prices per ounce are clearly marked. There are bags of tea that are also measured that you can buy. You don't have to wait for a salesperson to show you the teas that you are interested in. Of course, there are salespeople to help you if you need it. I also liked that they have sample packs of tea since you sample a small amount of more teas before you commit to buying more of it. I'm a big fan of herbal tea and was interested in their orchard sampler pack, which had their sour apple, raspberry patch, blood orange and berry blues herbal tea. It costs $7 and makes 6 to 8 cups of tea. I didn't buy it since I already have enough tea at home, but I definitely will buy it if I stop by again. They also sell tea cookies, which was not something I have ever seen before at any other tea shop. Definitely check this place out if you are a tea person. My girlfriend and I came in here with a groupon hoping to learn much more about teas and try new varieties. When we walked in we were welcomed and our little class session was underway thanks to our hostess, Drue. She was everything you want a host to be, courteous, confident, witty, nice, knowledgeable...she had it all, and in no time she began instructing us on tea leaves, the difference in Japanese and Chinese teas, herbal teas, the methods by which leaves are processed, and the flavors. We were not an easy audience with all our questions, but Drue answered all we asked. The selection of teas was fantastic and the number was overwhelming, it almost felt like walking into a bookstore with so many options to get. We enjoyed the fandom tea collections as well and were thankful for all the samples they provided. This place really felt like a hidden gem and we look forward to returning soon. read more

I should start by saying I am by no means a tea connoisseur. I went on Groupon in hopes of findings some deals on loose tea and stumbled upon a tasting for two at Adagio. I excitedly purchased it and signed up for the private tasting. Upon walking in, my partner and I were greeted by the wonderful aroma of tea. Unlike teavana, adagio has all of their teas set up around the store, for your smelling pleasure. There are probably 50+ different teas for you to choose from as well. Our tasting began with Tony, a very outgoing and knowledgeable individual around 4PM. He exceeded my expectations by explaining anything and everything I could have wanted to know about tea. In addition to his extensive knowledge of tea, he found teas for us to try based on our personal interests. At the end of the tasting, we were each given a teapot to take home. The experience had today was everything I could have hoped for and more. From the knowledgeable and friendly staff, to the plethora of tea on hand, this store made me see what I had been missing out on. Several years ago, this store started my tea snobbery. While shopping in Downtown Naperville, my husband and I stopped in for a cup of hot tea and were immediately overwhelmed by the selection at the store. The employee behind the counter - I wish I remembered her name - obviously noticed our surprise and was VERY helpful as we browsed and selected teas. She taught us about proper steeping times, temperatures and techniques. We had no idea tea was so technical! About an hour later, we left the store with $100 worth of tea and tea accessories. My favorite yea shop by far! The store is warm, friendly and efficient. It smells amazing from the several choices of hot sample teas like gingerbread etc. I had a bit of a sore throat and one of the employees, John, was quick to help me find the perfect tea combo. I ended up buying a package of peppermint and then a speciality combo of teas specifically designed for sore throats and packaged in a nice tin carrier. I was shocked that these teas were very affordable as well considering the prices of places like Teavana that are so over the top. The finacee and I are were already pretty big fans of Adagio before we checked out the Naperville location. I will always choose to patronize Adagio or any other tea store over teavana because of their waaay too pushy sales tactics. I feel like at teavana you get mobbed by employees the second you walk in, where as here you get a chance to walk around and experience the teas with employees there if you have questions. That being said, I was impressed with this store. The interior just seemed a whole lot bigger with more selection than the Old Orchard store. We came with a groupon for the tea tasting experience and were helped by Drue. She seemed really knowledgeable about the different kinds of teas and answered any questions we had. She even gave us a taste of matcha brewed in the traditional method with a bamboo whisk. btw, I would highly highly recommend matcha, it's like concentrated powdered tea that is kinda like coffee but gives you a more energized longer lasting buzz if that makes any sense. Also, the buy 4 get the 5th bag of tea free is always what we end up getting when going to Adagio, so you can really build up some variety in your tea repertoire. read more

We went in on a Sunday afternoon. First time here, and we were impressed. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. They let you sample the teas. Jared showed us how to make matcha. He explained to us why the bamboo whisk is used instead of the metal (alters the taste). They have flavored varieties- we tried the blueberry. Blueberry flavor did not overpower the matcha, which we liked. We went home with the white peach tea, cookies, and a sampler of the white teas (personal preference). Prices are reasonable. They have the dragonwell, which is more expensive (but this is the chinese top shelf version :D). Great for gifts! Packaging is nice. Also good for your everyday tea. Highly recommended! read more

This tea store is definitely a breath of fresh air. You can go around and open canisters to smell the different teas yourself. It's nice to be able to browse and explore on your own. They have a check-in offer here for a complimentary cup of tea, and when I went to redeem it they said that was only for their downtown location....weird, cuz I got it when I checked in. HERE. In Naperville. However, they said they would go ahead and honor it. So, I guess that was nice, but it made me feel like they were doing me a favor when there really just shouldn't be a check-in offer if it's not really for that location. Regardless, they do have some very interesting teas here. They had some hazelnut and almond black teas that would be a great alternative to coffee. Plus, they had some really awesome flavors for white tea such as blood orange, pina colada, and one that was called fox trot which smelled minty and amazing. When I finally find some good small containers I would totally snag a few new flavors to try. They also mentioned that they do little tasting events sometimes, which sounds really cool. Truth be told, my husband and I prefer to buy our loose leaf tea in Chinatown or get it as gifts from our avid-tea drinking relatives because it's much more affordable (especially in bulk) than the tea at specialty stores like Adagio. However, when we stopped by this weekend, we enjoyed smelling all the different types of tea here and cashing in on our Yelp check-in offer of one tea drink of our choice. I also appreciated the sale section on tea-related accessories because I scored a decent water pitcher for only $7.50 (originally retailed at $15). I was walking in downtown Naperville and a tea entitled "Cinderella" caught my eye. I love tea, so I decided to check out the store and I'm glad I did. First of all, this is NOT Teavana. An employee will NOT be hovering around you or trying to oversell the entire time. The selection was insane. They had a variety of black, green, white, and herbal teas. You can smell and try any of them and they are available in loose leaf, bags, and sample packs. I ended up with a loose leaf sour apple herbal tea and it's delicious. Remember that Cinderella themed tea I mentioned? They also have Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and Monster Brew. (non-caffeinated for the kiddos!) They also had "fandom" sets. 6 small tins of tea themed after favorite shows and movies like Harry Potter, Dr. Who, and Pokemon. I chose Harry Potter and the Butterbeer flavor is my absolute favorite. It smells like warm caramel mixed with a hint of toffee. A manager was on staff at the time of our visit. (8/25 at 5pm) I can't remember her name, but she was a sweetheart. She threw in bunch samples in our bag after checkout. Everything is very reasonably priced. I will definitely be back as soon as I'm soon as I'm done with my stock. read more

This amazing little store beckons me to downtown Naperville a few times year. My mother and I stock up on our teas for the season, browse the latest cups and teapots, have a sample, and a few laughs. The customer service is always superb with highly knowledgeable staff ready to make you a cup and answer some questions. The teas are always sold with the same weight and clear instructions on the pouch. No need to worry about how hot the water needs to be or the steep time when you get home. It's all right there. Be sure to check the back wall for a quick boxset for that geek in your life who loves Sherlock or Avatar the Last Airbender. Also, ask the staff about any specialty mixes they may have made. Last time I bought a great South African Cupcake blend. So light and fruity for the summer. read more

This is one of my go to places to get tea for home. The staff is very knowledgeable and many of the teas are very good quality. I would definitely request to try any of the teas before purchasing (which they are more than happy to do usually) because I have tried a few of their teas that by description and similar teas sounded good, but after tasting I had quite a different opinion. All in all I would say definitely stop by if you're in the area or are a tea fanatic, because the staff here knows how to find you what you'll like. read more

After 5 mins of being in the store she didn't acknowledge me at all. If even to say hello and ask if I needed any help. She could have said "I'll be right with you". I walked out. This place is adorable. They have very friendly staff with a large array of any kid of tea you can imagine and any kind if tea accessory to go with. My boyfriend and I went there after purchasing the groupon deal and we couldn't have been happier. Lost Opportunities.... Adagio Teas, I want to really enjoy your offerings but maybe it's due to the jump started holiday season or something else I don't know, the service was well underpressed at the first time visit and I'm hesitant to return to this particular location despite the beautiful assortment that is inside. Upon walking in we were greeted and that was about all we got from the staff, mind you it was the day after Thanksgiving so they're bound to get busy and maybe their inner introvert was coming through I don't know and I'm not making an excuse for it. My shopping co-hort and I were the only ones inside. While there was a greeting, there was no real explanation of the teas while we looked through out the store, or suggestions that you would normally find in a tea shop. I was going to ask questions about the Pomegranite tea that was at the storefront counter but honestly felt like I would be puting the staffers out so I bit my lip and waited for my shopping partner to purchase her bits and leave. At the register, the staffers were silent and didn't direct us to the other side of the register nor really engage in conversation. It was one of those awkward shopping moments. So now moving away from the service, the store is nice. The tea selection is quite massive and the store is laid out so you can follow the lines of tea leaves from cucumber, green tea to chai. Sizes for the teas are perfect and presented in three different sizes, S,M, L and are equally affordable. The quality of the tea, I will wait to hear how it is, but from other reviews is dead on and worth it so once the jasmine pearl runs out maybe I'll drop in. I'm not ruling you out Adagio but will try another shop for a more positive experience. read more

Great tea shop in downtown Naperville. Pat was on duty. I immediately told her "I need help." No problem. I am a tea novice. I told Pat that I had run out of the tea given to me by some Chinese friends whom I no longer see. She led me to several options. She offered to brew a sample of the teas I seemed interested in. She almost shrieked in horror when I told her how I had been making tea at home. She explained the error of my ways (in a very nice way). I left with anji duet and rooibos. I brewed some rooibos as soon as I got home since I could use my tea ball and boiling water on it. I liked it. To me it smelled like balsa wood which reminded me of the model airplanes I used to build when I was a youngster. If you are at all into tea you MUST visit Adagio Teas. read more

The Jasmine white needle, and vanilla green are to die for! I've always wanted to become a tea connisseur so I'm in the early discovery stages right now and I think Adagio is a great place to start. I've seen the website over the years but hesitated buying the teas online because I feel the need to smell them in true wanna-be-tea-connisseur fashion. I was happy when I found a location in downtown Napes so I could see, smell, and taste, before I buy. There was one person working and a large, loud, gaggle of Naperville mom's so I didn't see an opportunity to chat with the pros. (I heard the employess there were very knowledgable about tea) I had a pretty good idea that I wanted to start with a white tea sampler so it was okay that I didn't get to chat because the set up is very organized and I found what I needed in two seconds. I hope to get some recomendations and good info from the staff next time though... which will be soon because I'm already plowing through that $16 worth of tea! I love the frequent rewards program, I can already tell that I'll hit that $100 pretty quick..EEK! My only complaint (hence the four stars) is that the webite doesn't synch up with you if you sign up for the rewards program in the store! I see that there is an opportunity to earn points by leaving reviews on their site (umm I like to review stuff if you haven't noticed my *ELITE* status, wink wink) I had an email from them when I got home thanking me for my purchase and to leave reviews for the teas I bought, (I like this, Ulta does this and it's F-U-N!) but when I go to the site, it seems like I have to have an account which I think you only get when you buy something off the site? I'm so sad to say, but I was heavily disappointed at the service at the Naperville location. I'm a frequent customer at another location. The lady here wasn't very helpful and when I asked for a large iced tea, she accidentally gave me a medium. And then I asked, "Oh, is that a large?" and she just said, "Shoot, I am so sorry! This is a regular size..." and didn't bother to offer exchanging the sizes. I asked for lightly sweetened with agave and she made it heavily sweetened. :( She seemed like a really nice person, but just really distracted. Needless to say, I'm still a huge fan of their high quality teas. read more

I stumbled upon this store yesterday, and was quite surprised that they had an actual store for this brand. I had been using a tea steeper from this company that I received as a gift for over a year, and it is excellent. It came with a few samples, which were also very good. I was blown away by the selection of tea's that were available at this store, right there for you to smell. The lady behind the counter was also very helpful and willing to brew you a sample of anything you wanted. Being semi-literate when it comes to tea, the store was just perfect to allow me to smell and test what I knew i liked, and I ended up coming out with some great selections that span a wide variety of types. If you are a tea drinker, and especially if you brew your own loose leaf, this is a great place to stop in and check out. Very impressed and happy its so close to me! read more

Great selection of black mixed teas. Not much herbal in the categories I was seeking, however. For example, there is no hibiscus only. However, they have an excellent collection of grapefruit blends, which is a favorite. Great little accessories, especially tea strainers for whole leaf tea. Staff is helpful if not always an expert. Try the smaller size to make sure you like the product before coming back for the full size. Your products are very high quality, the displays and selection are easy to understand.
