Wow. Just wow. My bf and I were absolutely blown away by the food we ordered. We didn't know what to expect, so maybe that helped, but we both agreed it was better than Paesano's and almost every other Italian restaurant we have visited so far. If you love garlic, they don't skimp on the garlic, whether it's on garlic bread or in your pasta. My spicy 4-cheese ravioli was actually spicy, strongly garlicky, and it was the perfect serving size. My bf loved his bolognese as well. Sop up the leftover sauce with your garlic bread and you've cleared your plate. We ordered a Stonefruit Caprese Salad for appetizer and it was a great balance of balsamic vinegar, olive oil, fresh mozzarella, basil, tomatoes and stone fruit aka peaches. For wine we tried Oak Farm Zin (Lodi). Delicious. The cannoli is good for two people full from the app and main course and I loved that the cream wasn't too sweet or overwhelming. Prices are a bit expensive even for current inflation prices but you're paying for quality. I have tried visiting this restaurant once before but unfortunately they were closed. Finally decided to try again and thankfully I did. When my friend and I arrived, the restaurant was quite busy. We were quickly seated at the bar which we did not mind. Very friendly staff and cozy atmosphere. They offer lots of vegetarian options and our server was happy to provide accommodations. We ordered arancini for our appetizer and was provided complementary salad. I asked for the summer gnocchi without pancetta and my friend ordered the four cheese ravioli. Our food came out very quickly. The salad was light and fresh and the arancini was warm, cheesy, and savory. Our entrees came with garlic bread on the side. Love the complementary garlic bread but wish that the bread was toasted. The gnocchi was rich and delightful. Each bite provided lots of flavor and texture. The ravioli was very delicious but too spicy for me for my liking; however, my friend really enjoyed it. If you cannot handle spice, you can ask to have the chili on the side. read more

Absolutely delicious food! Everything was fantastic, perfectly cooked and delicious. We had the octopus and arancini appetizers. Perfect texture for the octopus, really delicious seasoning. Arancini was from the summer menu, it was so good! We had the seafood risotto and the meatballs with polenta --- perfect textures and so delicious! The meatballs were divine. With a weekday rezzie in hand, I finally made it to Adamo's with my fourth attempt. I knew this place had to be good! Two young woman were handling the whole joint. They were pretty casual with the customers, at times not really focusing on us when there was another conversation going on next to us. Kind of weird but not a huge deal. Just super casual, I guess. We were told the menu had recently changed. From other yelp photos, I can tell prices for some items have changed as well as food options but nothing too drastic. We got the four cheese ravioli (with chili oil) and the special lasagna. Both were very, very good. The lasagna came in its own cute ceramic container and was extra cheesy. The ravioli has an awesome texture, and the sauce did add some nice heat. Both came with a basic house salad (a little too over dressed) and garlic bread. We also splurged on the tiramisu, which was delicious. Mason jar was cute but not necessary. We did try to get every last bit out of the jar, though! read more

The first time I came to Adamo's, I would have given them 5 stars- the food and service was fantastic. Every visit since then has been a little worse than the time before. During my most recent visit, the service was very slow- it took an hour for our 4 entrees to arrive. Luckily we weren't in any hurry, but I feel like the kitchen must have been struggling. When our food came out, everything came out warm except for my dad's burger which was ice cold. We politely brought the issue to our server's attention, and were blown away when he brought over a plate and had my dad place the burger patty on it to be warmed up. Typically you'd expect them to fire up a new patty so that it would still be cooked medium as requested. He returned the patty warmed up, but now extremely well done and very dry. On top of this issue, the food wasn't good (and it used to be 10/10 delicious). I don't know if it's a kitchen staffing issue, or if the service is getting lazier as time goes on, but I'm bummed to be turned off of this once great spot. Maybe the last few times I've visited have just been off nights. Maybe I'll give it another try sometime in the future, but I likely won't be coming back anytime soon. Hopefully they're able to work out these kinks and come back up to the great quality they started with. read more

The restaurant was nice to visit. Clean and well kept dinning area. Service was as expected, courteous and provided timely delivery to our table. The menu was limited because there were not many diet friendly options but that was okay. The taste of the food was very lipid and oil based which was a little turn off. I was hoping for more flavor vs taste of preservatives. I think this restaurant will need to work on brining up quality of ingredients or reducing price but there has to be a realistic balance, otherwise it's just a profit scheme vs quality of food. this is a little hole in the wall spot in midtown that makes their own pasta! i had pretty high expectations for this place after reading all the reviews, but adamo's personally didn't leave me super impressed. apparently, this place can get pretty busy during peak dinner hours and weekends, so make sure you call to get a reservation; however, when i came on wed night, there were ample tables available. service/staff were very accommodating and helpful! i tried the shiso fries and calamari appetizers and was really impressed with the fries. they were packed with flavor and really crispy despite being served under a bed of various toppings. it's a must get!! the pastas are made fresh every morning, and i ordered the bolegnese but i didn't find it to be anything special. the sauce was just ok, not too flavorful and the beef didn't wow me. the pasta itself was a little too al dente for my liking, but i think that's more of a personal preference on my part. my friend got their pesto ravioli and she said that it was too salty and oily. i tried the caramel apple cannoli for dessert, but didn't really like it either -- the cream filling was not whipped enough, so it wasn't fluffy and the outside shell was not crispy/flakey. overall 6.5-7/10 rating parking lot located on the side of the restaurant, in addition to street parking! read more

Came here with a large group for a birthday dinner. Service was good. Pasta is handmade from scratch here and you can definitely tell when you bite into the noodles as the texture is fantastic. We're hooked! Came for date night - loved the dim lighting and casual cozy vibe. Great decor. The waitresses were super nice and gave us great recommendations on what to order. We walked in and the place was packed with a few tables open and a couple had just gotten up from the bar. We told the host/owner we would be fine with sitting at the bar assuming it was first come first serve like most. Food took a little while to come out. The bar tender was so sweet and service at the bar was good. Gnocchi primavera was a new dish we ordered and it was ok but not very seasoned and rather bland. We sat at the bar for about 20-30 mins after paying close to $140 for everything to finish drinks. At 2 mins until 8pm, the owner came over and said he had a reservation that needed to sit in our spot and essentially kicked us out. Why is everything on their menu so damn tasty? I never come back through Adamo's doors as often as I'd like to, but every time I do I curse myself for staying away so long. Their simple menu of comforting Italian favorites has few rivals in Sacramento. I had an old friend in town, so naturally I wanted him to enjoy some of our city's finer eats. We ended up at Adamo's because we were looking for Italian and they are extra smart to be open on a Tuesday while so many places are not. This time I had the burger, which I wouldn't usually order at an Italian restaurant, but went with based on the recommendation of our server. The meat was perfectly cooked, the bun soft, the fries crispy and incredible. The burger was topped with an unusual fire roasted red peppers that added a unique spicy/sweet flavor. I loved every bite. The only thing that saddens me is that my first love, the lasagna, never seems to be on the menu anymore - at least when I come in. I came into town with a group of friends for an event and planed to have dinner at this place as it was highly recommended. I was really looking forward to having a nice meal but was absolutely disappointed by the service and ended up not dining at this place. We walked in to the restaurant (party of 4) and had to wait to be tended to. While waiting I was looking around and noticed that there were 3+ open tables that could accommodate a party of 4 so I thought, "great, we won't have to wait". A few minutes later, an older gentlemen (who seemed to be the restaurant owner) straight up told us he could not sit us and we had to put our name down on the waitlist but it would take about 30 minutes. I was extremely confused since there were many open tables. When I asked him about the open tables he replied "they are all reserved at 6pm, however, we walked in at 5pm and wouldn't be seated until 5:30pm. It just didn't make sense to me and got the feeling more like he didn't want to serve us. I was so disappointed and started to walk out. As I'm waking out, a very nice waitress comes and tells me they can actually sit me in one of the reserved tables. I thanked her and walked out anyway. Adamo's is one of my absolute favorite neighborhood spots. From their family style service, to the incredible homemade pasta, I've never had a bad night here and I don't imagine I ever will. And now Adamo's officially makes my favorite pasta of all time- the creamy white wine pasta is incredible!! It's tart and creamy and fantastic and I'd highly recommend it. The bolognese is always a tried and true delicious choice. I'd also highly recommend the octopus. Garlic and lemon galore and a fantastic start to dinner. I'd recommend calling ahead (they get busy!) and sitting at the bar so you can enjoy watching the food being made in the kitchen and enjoy chatting with everyone working. We went to Adamos yesterday for my parents anniversary. We had a party of 7. We were crammed into a table that fits 6.There were flies everywhere and it was hard to eat comfortably. Then for some reason there was no AC and the fan by the front door was turned off. When I asked our waitress to turn it on, she said she had to ask the manager. Well, she didn't and when I asked him, he turned it on reluctantly. The food was alright. My husband had a few bites and couldn't eat any more because it was so salty. Our waitress was also very slow, she just never came in to check in on us. We had to call other servers to get water and order drinks. My husband and I had heard some pretty great reviews about this place. A friend even highly recommended it if we were ever in the mood for some good pasta. I will say that the service was great and everyone was very friendly, so no notes there! Unfortunately, I second what some of the other yelp reviews indicate -- some of the dishes were very salty. I ordered the salmon piccata, which came with a little disclaimer to let folks know that it is intentionally very lemony and not for everyone. Well, I love me some capers and lemon on my salmon, so I decided to go for it anyway! The fish was good and well seasoned, but I am sad to report that the dish as a whole was definitely on the very salty side. Lemony is one thing, but salty is another. My friend got the carbonara, which was so salty that we ended up asking for some lemon slices to see if added acidity might help balance the dish (which it did a bit)... My husband got the chicken pesto sandwich, which he says was fine. Overall though, a little disappointed based on the good things we had been told. But who knows, maybe we just came on an off day. I started to think they are scared of using seasonings or something. The worst thing for me is that the prices are low key expensive for middle or low class people like me.
