This probably one of the better restaurants in Sacramento. It located at a Marriott hotel signature edition property. I rarely eat at hotel restaurants because most don't offer a quality dining experience since they essentially have you hostage on the property unless you have a car and then you end up paying for multiple valet charges. However my son insisted that we down here since he had previously eaten here and he was very pleased with the food. The waitress recommended a pork grind appetizer and a sliced steak dish. I was pleasantly surprised with the pork grind unique flavor and how it was prepared, the steak was also very good and obviously high end beef. Ambiance was adequate for the size of the restaurant. Food was so good I had breakfast there and again was very pleased with the enchilada omelette which was very well prepared. The service was what you would expect at a high end establishment. Reservations: Easy and convenient to make online. Service: Service was very good- our server was attentive and helpful when we asked questions. The food came out within a good time frame, but we did not feel rushed. Ambiance: The atmosphere of Grange is classy, clean, and somewhat casual for a nice restaurant. The decor felt comfortable, the seating was situated comfortably to allow for good conversation. Noise level was moderate, in a way that made it feel lively but not too busy. DRINKS: I had a French 75, which was a well execute version of a pretty simple cocktail. My friend had their mocktail espresso martini- she said it was quite good, although only a few dollars cheaper than its sister version with alcohol FOOD: The starter was the Whipped Burrata with cherries, pistachio, pickled shallot, mint chutney, grilled bread. We honestly wanted to order 5 more of these. The burrata was sensational, and we loved the grilled bread that accompanied it. All of the unique flavors complimented each other. I would absolutely order this again. Our entrees are where the train went off the tracks. I ordered the Miso Black Cod with thumbelina carrot, charred bok choy, sesame crumble. Overall I was quite disappointed with this dish. At $52, it was perhaps about 2-3 oz of Cod, which was cooked well however was so salty that I could barely finish it (and honestly I love salty food). The few vegetables served with it left a lot to be desired, and I felt that the plate was missing some kind of starch to tie the dish together. It was just so little meh food for a really high price tag. My friend had the Roasted Salmon with green chickpea succotash, wild mushroom, frisee salad, pickled mushroom relish, pickled bacon vinaigrette. Her salmon was also exceptionally salty, and the sides just did not seem cohesive with the salmon. Definitely not worth $54 either. wowzer talk about a delayed review. Came here twice and the second time was such a disappointment. My company wasnt a fan of his order and I didnt see anything on the menu worth ordering but I decided to grab something while he ate. My Olive Oil Cake super dry ice cream was delicious. The guest at a nearby table and I locked eyes after I she saw my disappointment in the first bite. We both kind of chuckled. As they were leaving the woman leaned in and whispered they weren't a fan of the dishes either and would be going elsewhere to grab another meal. The ambiance and vibe of the place is nice but aesthetics aside I wouldn't return to eat. So disappointed since the last time I ate here I salivated at my ordered. I got together with one of my friends from high school yesterday, and she had suggested Grange for dinner. I immediately jumped at the oppurtunity. The space is beautiful. Gorgeous wine glasses and lovely dishware. Smaller portions, so eat alot before or order lots. There was a complimentary bread service with bread from ACME in San Francisco. I love ACME, so no complaints here. Loved the cultured butter. I would stay stick with the wine here. I had a cab that was divine, esp in the glasses they had. It was probs bold to order crudo 2 hours inland, but it sounded/looked good, so we risked it. We had the hamachi crudo with rose petal vinegar, pickled kumquat, lemon oil, and nasturtium. I really enjoyed the kuquat addition. The plating was beautiful. I know blue cheese is controversial, and I can appreciate the controversy. I, however, LOOOVE it. Sue me. My friend feels the same way, so we had the radish and blue cheese with point reyes bleu cheese, apple, celery, grape, candied pecans, apple cider vinaigrette. The celery and grape were unexpected, but paired very nicely. Since they just transitioned to the spring menu, we decided to get somthing that screamed spring: snap peas. The dish was charred snap peas with harissa lebnah, white chocolate vinaigrette, and picked herbs. I did not get any of the chocolate flavor. I was expected the sauce to be mixed in, but they were served side by side. The sauce was good, but I wish it was mixed. It was way spicier than expected but in a good way. For our entrees, we both had pre looked at the menu and had pre decided we both wanted themiso black cod with the thumbelina carrot, charred bok choy, sesame crumble. Enjoyed an unforgettable time at Grange to celebrate the besties birthday. I had previously experienced Grange, who hosted a Yelp event so the decision was simple. I first have to discuss the service and experience..12/10. Such a lovely little spot for brunch. I believe it's connected to a hotel because it definitely gives those vibes! After a bit of research for brunch in the area, we decided to go with Grange just based off of the menu. Noted that the prices do seem a little higher especially for the area but I believe you're paying for the aesthetic and obviously that it is connected to a hotel. We were all so excited about the crème brûlée french toast and the pork belly benedict. It all sounded so so good and it was! The crème brûlée toast reminded me of the greek yogurt toast hack on TikTok but obviously a lot sweeter and more of a dessert than a healthy alternative. It was so tasty! The pork belly benedict was really delicious as well. Pork wasn't dry and the hollandaise sauce complimented the pork belly very well. My sister and brother in law were in Sacramento for a few days and it happened to fall on Mother's Day weekend. On that Sunday, it have completely slipped our minds that it was Mother's Day and of course we were starving and had no reservations nowhere. Thankfully, this restaurant was able to squeeze us in so for that I am appreciative. The restaurant itself is Moore downtown style restaurant in a larger hotel and it was busy with a lot of families naturally having brunch and they had a selective menu, but there was still good options to pick from. I went with a classic option of eggs and sausage and potatoes and their portions are very large. It was pretty tasty. I also got a couple of espresso martinis, which were well-made. The service was decent, but it could've been better. She wasn't as warm and friendly as one would've hoped but maybe she was just having a rough day. From what I've seen on social media and here on Yelp, it looks like their dinner menu options are very popular so it's difficult for me to rate it based on that as I had a classic breakfast option but overall it was pretty decent. read more

This is especially true of the bar area where the bartenders are friendly, skilled mixologists who are good vibes only. The food? Hit or miss. Dinner last night was a HUGE miss. $44 for Mary's Chicken, on a bed of gigante beans, charred summer squash, topped with shishito peppers and toasted pepita salsa verde. Sounds yummy, right? It didn't live up to its description or beautiful presentation. Under seasoned chicken (I asked for salt), undercooked beans. I have no idea what they did to those shishito peppers to make them dry and stringy. The salsa verde couldn't mask what was a disappointing plate from start to finish. Mary would be disappointed. Visited December 17th..see my receipt as always. This is a contemporary and upscale restaurant located inside the Citizen Hotel in Sacramento. After doing alittle Christmas shopping we decided to have a late lunch. My boyfriend and I shared the burger that came with some delightful and slightly crunchy fries. It was the right amount of food to share! I also had a nice glass of Clos Pegase wine ( used to be a wine club member) and he had their special old fashioned. He said it was the best he had! Service was quick and friendly. I ordered the carnitas hash and my partner ordered the breakfast combo with a pancake. The hash was pretty good only note would be that the spice in the hollandaise didn't come through very well but the eggs were poached perfectly. I stopped in on a Thursday around 2pm with a colleague and while we were secretly hoping lunch would still be served, we were happy to find that their Bar Bites menu was available. I ordered a white linen and the Tombo Tuna Sandwich ($24), my colleague got the Farm Green Salad and added chicken ($16 + $13 for chicken) and we ordered Hummus and Flatbread ($15) to share. I did brag about this spot and how good the food was, so although it's a bit on the more expensive side I promised her it would be worth it. While the food was delicious, the service fell a bit short. Since it was Bar Bites menu time they had the bar area as open seating and said we could sit anywhere. We opted for one of the longer tables near the bar, but not at the bar, and while our server brought water out and took our orders they accidentally brought salmon instead of chicken initially for the salad (they did quickly fix this), and on the final bill charged for the salmon ($2 more, not a huge deal but still), and didn't really check on us or refill our waters. We also ended up heading to the bar to pay since they didn't check in on us towards the end. I would recommend sitting at the bar if you're not seated at a real table, which we would have done if we knew they were short staffed. The food is excellent, but I'd avoid the time between lunch and dinner based off this experience, or find a spot at the bar. read more

Visited The Grange for a special night out and it absolutely delivered on atmosphere and thoughtful food. We started with the cured salmon ($24), which was beautifully balanced and a perfect way to ease into the meal. This place is classy and delicious! My husband, a couple of friends, and I went here for dine downtown. We did research and thought the 3 course menu sounded delicious. It did not disappoint! I came here for brunch to celebrate my wife's birthday with the whole family. I've always had a good experience at this restaurant in the past, but this was my first time visiting during the day. It took about 30 minutes for our food to come out, and the party seated after us received their dishes before we did (though it's possible they ordered right away). In my past dinner visits, I don't recall waiting this long, but my wife mentioned that slow service tends to happen here during the day. Something to keep in mind if you're planning brunch. Normally, I don't mind a wait, but dining with a hungry toddler changes things. The restaurant wasn't packed (just a handful of tables) so the delay felt longer than expected. As for the food, it was good, but for the steep price, there was nothing that stood out compared to other brunch spots in the area. At dinner, we've usually received a complimentary dessert when celebrating birthdays or anniversaries, which adds a nice touch. They did acknowledge the birthday when we arrived, but nothing else followed during brunch. Totally fine, since they're not obligated to do so, it just wasn't the special experience I remembered. Our server seemed new and spoke so softly we could barely hear her at times. Service was noticeably slower and less attentive compared to previous visits. Overall, I'd recommend this restaurant more for dinner. The food and experience in the evening have always been better in my opinion. We visited Sacramento for a Birthday and had reservations at the Grange. This is a Michelin recognized restaurant. Three of the six in our party had the Bolognese pasta which was reminiscent of what we had in Italy. Great Al dente , fresh pasta coupled with a beautiful bolognese sauce. Our party also ordered the ravioli ( didn't get a pic) and a few appetizers (beet salad, Burrata, truffle Parmesan fries) all was wonderful. The restaurant is open and well decorated and staff are attentive. This appears to be a hot date spot. There's also a bar. We also had the "tots Royale" an upscaled potato appetizer which was a good size portion and included beautiful toppings including trout roe. The menu offered some great meat dishes and fish also. The pork chop looked like a great option but I was just in the mood for pasta. We tried the apple crisp afterwards and it was served warm with a lovely crumble top. We visited the Grange recently to take advantage of the Dine Downtown events. First, plan ahead for parking: there is metered parking across the street at Caesar Chavez Park but it's for only one hour! What the heck! There is valet but I don't know the cost and there was a long line. We got a slot two blocks away in metered parking - it said $6 for three hours but charged $10.50. Anyway, we were directed to a nice big table with a good view of the restaurant. We each ordered the root veg. chowder - delicious and nicely seasoned. For the entree, I had bistro fillet - cooked medium well and excellent. My wife's entree was more problematic: it said zucchini scallop. We found the word "scallop" misleading as it was explained that there are no scallops, just the style of the vegetables. It better served as a veggie appetizer than a main. However, our server was kind enough to provide a chicken dish substitute with no argument. Looking good and it was. This was accompanied by a Justin chardonnay - nice pours.
