Still under warranty!
Bryan D.

I would give the zero stars if possible! Took my PC to them at 9am yesterday for a diagnostic. I didn't hear back from them so I called about 12:30 pm and he told me he was just about to do the diagnostic and would call me in about 20 minutes. Never heard from the so I called at 3pm (they close at 4) and it went to voicemail. Since I needed my PC for work, so I went up there at 3:30pm. He looked surprised to see me and said there was a problem with my GPU (no crap! I told him the problem I was having was crashing playing some games. It would say "low video memory" or "out of video memory") He told me I could leave it until Monday, and he could replace the GPU. Told me that's what he did to another customers PC and it worked. Mind you, this is a custom-built gaming computer that I told him was still under warranty! I said no and he said, "well then let me reset the bios and that should work." Bull! Basically, he kept my PC all day long and turned it on and tried to run a game on my desktop that crashed and that was it! If he had actually run a diagnostic on it, he would have given me a printout. He did virtually nothing and still charged me $45 for a diagnostic {supposedly} and gave me no printout and was still trying to replace a GPU that was under warranty! Never will I go there again nor refer anyone to this guy. Repoff! I read through the reviews (which I should have done first) and see that this was not the first time he has done this. You have been warned!

Here is a factual aand subjective account of my experiences at this particular shop. This is what happened. This is exact. This is not hyperbole. These are the facts. Approximately a month ago I sought out "Adam's Apple" based off of the name, the location, and the relative dearth of any reputable Mac repair centers in the area. When I tried their website to submit a form, it failed to send. No problem, so instead, I called. Their rep said that I needed to bring my computer in for a diagnosis, and leave it there. So that's what I did. I left my computer there, and after a week and a half, I called for a diagnosis. "Adam"....if that's what his name really is, immediately suggested that the main hardware component of the computer failed. I asked if he diagnosed it, and he said he hadn't. This was the first indicator that perhaps doing business would become sticky. If he was suggesting a fix without diagnosing it, who was I to argue? He offered an older computer instead, for $200. I acquiesced, and accepted an off the shelf unit, INSTEAD of getting a quote to fix my computer. This was the only alternative available to me, and I was running completely out of time for my project. After getting his unit back to my office; I spent an hour setting it up only to find that it had no internet card. I called "Adam" and he said; "Oh, I didn't know you wanted one....did yours have one?" Of course it did. So I brought it back, and he put in an internet card. And then I begged him to just diagnose my old computer. But instead, I went against my better judgement again, and tried the old one I was up-sold. Did I mention no one in the office wears masks? Oh, they do eventually after you shame them into it. But more on this later. After trying the upsold computer--this time WITH internet--I find out that the older operating system isn't even up to par with what I left at the shop. My project is useless. So I called "Adam" to bring the computer back for a refund. He agrees on the phone. By the time I make my 3rd or 4th sojourn to his shop, SURPRISE! He's "fixed" my computer. "There was a red light, and now there isn't!" He says. "What about the main control component?" I ask. "Oh, I dunno. It might be. It might now. But it should work now." Now, eager to just have something that works -- I don't press for a refund. I should have, but i was still under the delusion that there was competence and integrity here. Again, I was burned. My original computer lapsed into the same non-functional mode. Was never fixed. Was never even properly diagnosed. All I succeeded doing was waste time, waste money, and get frustrated. And now, I'm wasting even more time by writing this review; but it's important I do so, because this is the ONLY DEFENSE against a small business that operates against the rules, that doesn't do what's expected, and that shouldn't have merit where none is deserved. And if this review is challenged, I'll write another one. Because this review is FACTUAL. It is DESERVED. And "Adam", if you would like to protect the reputation of your store and get a higher rating....then you will operate with competence, truth and integrity. And then the rating will improve. That's how you do it. That's what Yelp! is fort. And this business should thank the opportunity to change its ways and improve.

I spent a couple weeks gathering all the components I've been eyeing and made the pilgrimage down to Micro Center (in Tustin) to take advantage of a great MOBO/Proc/RAM bundle. The last time I built a PC was in 2008 and at this point in my life, I just wanted an expert to help me get everything running and optimized. Gar was that expert. This guy knows his stuff and I couldn't be happier with my (first) experience at Helix. He runs the shop by himself and is clearly a lifelong PC enthusiast. It was really cool to see all his customers more 'aesthetic' builds that were in progress. I'm old so I wanted something with as little RGB as possible (haha). He even has a mini museum of PC components from decades past on display which really sent me down a VERY nerdy memory lane. He put together a 9800X3D / 5080 air cooled monster and everything runs perfectly. He optimized Win11 and walked me through everything he did when I picked up the machine. I would consider his shop a unicorn in 2026. Physical location. Passionate business owner who is offering top quality service in a niche industry. Fair prices.

Tommy showed up like a scene-stealing character from a tech-comedy crossover of Superbad and South Park (minus the profanity and teenage chaos). He was upbeat, wicked smart, totally honest, and not once did I feel like I was being hustled, upsold, or dragged into a 14-step "tech enlightenment program." The man is a tech guru meets philosopher, with a little bit of music producer and friendly neighbor energy thrown in. He didn't just assess my ancient iMac (which, bless it, had finally gone to the dark side -- literally), he walked me through realistic, budget-friendly options to rebuild my setup without making me feel like I had to sell a kidney or join a startup. His advice? All tailored for me, not some one-size-fits-all checklist. And he made it fun -- yes, fun -- to talk about external drive casings and system upgrades. Tommy is observant, kind, and thinks like someone who's been in your shoes -- which means you walk away feeling heard, helped, and way less freaked out about your tech. Also, 10/10 for vibes, conversation, and not being a robot. Seriously, just call him. It's rare to find people like this in any field -- much less one where trust, data, and your digital life are on the line. Five stars, because 10 stars isn't an option.

(Shopped 06/02/26 TU @ 3:30pm & Delivered/Installed 06/09/2026 TU @ 4:30pm): The best buy in town…read morefor a TV was during this particular long Memorial holiday weekend! I found myself at Best Buy's Burbank location doing research on TVs for a newly-acquired investment property. I've generally been a fan of this brand over the years when the only other competitor was Circuit City, but now places such as online behemoth Amazon.com and national brands Costco, Target, and Walmart vied for the public's electronic entertainment money. This was my last place for research after I first checked online and then visited several brick-and-mortars. Whether I was exhausted, the selection seemed better, the service was helpful, and the prices were competitive (all of these were true), I ultimately landed here to fork over my money. From start to finish, was this the best buy I hoped for!? PURCHASE(S) Samsung 55" Class M8OH Series Mini LED 4K UHD Samsung Vision AI Smart Tizen TV 2026 ($599.99): A beautiful TV with nice black screen color, very good sound before the soundbar, and I loved Samsung products which I can also sync with my mobile phone. I only wished I bought the 65"; I mismeasured - oops! Rocketfish Tilting TV Wall Mount For Most 32"-90" TVs Black ($89.99): This was the least expensive standard option and seemed to be the right choice since the TV was going to be stationary. TV Basic Mounting 55" Or Smaller ($179.99): Honestly, I felt paying for this installation at about 30% of the TV cost was outrageous, but as I observed the two technicians, I don't think a friend and I could've done as good of a job or within the time it took them to do it - c'est la vie. Samsung B-Series HW-B650F 3.1 Ch DTS Virtual X Soundbar Black ($249.99): This provided a nice cinematic surround sound listening experience with a wireless subwoofer for more bass. I was skeptical about the extra expense, but I felt it has made a difference in sound quality. Insignia Rear/Bottom Soundbar Mount For Wall Mounted TVs Black ($24.99): A simple enough piece of hardware that cradled the soundbar underneath the TV for more volume. Soundbar Setup ($99.99): Might as well have a "professional" handle this, but it seemed easy enough when I watched it being installed. Home Delivery (COMP): Normally $99.99, I couldn't recall if it was waived as a holiday promotion, or because I spent a certain amount. Whatever the reason, I gladly accepted it! Best Buy Foundation Donation ($5.00): For the benefit of youths in underserved communities, I believed in supporting their educational and career goals. Electronic Waste Recycling Fee ($6.00): Who exactly got this money!? SERVICE I was approached by a male salesperson who calmly took the time to explain the differences between a few TVs I looked at, helped recommend the additional hardware (he sold me on the soundbar), and talked me through everything. On delivery/installation day, two friendly Geek Squad technicians arrived timely enough within the delivery window (the text updates were acting wonky), they courteously wore covers on their shoes as they rather easily and quickly unpackaged, installed, and tested everything, One offered a quick tutorial on the remotes of the TV and soundbar. They were done in about 45 minutes - thank you! PARKING (FREE) Located within the large outdoor Burbank Empire Center, there were plenty of spots shared among several other businesses - 'nuff said! ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A big-box high ceiling warehouse style layout with one level. There was plenty of merchandise throughout the sectioned floorplan and within many aisles while ample space was given for carts and customers. Promotional posters and such were throughout as you would imagine. Minimal natural lighting came through the front glass windows and doors while a ton of electric soul-sucking fluorescent ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were plenty of TVs (only for display purposes) while Top-40 music played in the background. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL At the very least, Burbank's Best Buy location contained what I was looking for on this trip, so I was happy and would consider another visit if needed. The store itself was bustling with customers for holiday deals and an approachable sales staff. They basically carried all the major name brands in appliances and electronics, so do your research and find what you want. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $1,326.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS
