Sensational restaurant in the heart of downtown Westfield. Plenty of parking in the lot between the restaurant and Trader Joe's. Interior is open concept with a long welcoming bar area and plenty of diamond tufted leather booths in the main dining area. There is also an upper level to the restaurant where I imagine can be used for private parties. Great menu with just about something for everyone. I had the clam chowder for an app and the roasted salmon salad as my main. My niece had the shrimp spring rolls and the Vermont cheddar burger. Clam chowder was one of the best I have had outside of Boston. It had a good consistency. I don't like chowder that is as thick as porridge that leaves you too full. The dressing on the salad and the salmon...excellent. I really like the ambiance inside the restaurant because it's kind of a throwback...If you are from the area and you have been to Cranford Hotel for a meal then you know what I mean...type of place that you can sit and stay for hours engrossed in a conversation next to the fire places that these restaurants both have...Just a homey feel to them. Delicious find, in Westfield, NJ. Great urban style bar and restaurant. Great vibe. We had a very friendly & entertaining waiter, ( Bill J), and it immediately set the tone for our dining experience. We ( two of us), ordered apps: tuna tartare, which was delicious, a chick pea kale soup with chicken ( very tasty)! My entree was a steak salad with a lemony dressing; including mango, avocado & Thai noodles. I enjoyed it, but I did notice there were not a lot of noodles, and only a few mango pieces. Steak pieces were delectable. Just needed MORE!! Would definitely be back, to try other items. I also saw many groups gathering to celebrate birthdays & even a "Sprinkle"!! Does the waitstaff realize if there is an empty glass on the table, maybe ask if customer would like another? At least show the desert menu, we got handed the bill instead. I'm wondering what happened to jalapeños in calamari, that was my favorite thing about them. Empty glasses and no desert cost the restaurant money and your tip is smaller with the smaller bill. Inconsistent. So one Saturday I ordered the halibut and it was actually soft and tender. Ordered it again on a Monday and it was a rock. I didn't eat it. Ordered the Rotisserie chicken. For this past week, it's been bloody on the inside and tastes off, like smelly and bad by itself. So am I supposed to eat it together with the mashed potatoes to drown out the stink? First off, I am a huge Addams Family fan, so I may be a little biased when it comes to the writing of this review. The Charles Addams decor sprinkled around the restaurant is awesome! I came here for lunch on a weekday with my family. We were a group of 5. We had a mix of dishes. Some were decent, others were nothing to write home about. The cocktails, however, were amazing! The pear martini was the best I've ever had! Our waitress was Isabel, and she was great, as was the host. He took the time to chat with us as we were seated close to the host/hostess stand. I would say definitely come for the cocktails and maybe an appetizer and skip the entrees. read more

Went to the tavern for lunch today. They had a real wood fire going in their fireplace, not sure what was up but the smell of woodsmoke is so strong I got lightheaded and sick to my stomach, couldn't even smell the food under my nose. Horrible customer service. We were told a table would be 20-25 minutes. So we waited... at 30 minutes we asked for an update and we were told " 10 more minutes". As we were waiting we noticed 2 empty tables that were dirty and have not been cleaned just sitting there. After the 10 minutes we checked in again and told the hostess that we have already waited 40 minutes and we wanted to know how many people were in front of us so we could gauge when we would be seated. Her response was " we have tables opening up". At that point I said forget it and walked out. We were seated before the couple joining us, and we were assured they would be told where to join us; however, they were told we had not yet arrived, and they were left at the bar. The waitress had to be asked repeatedly to provide water because she kept neglecting our table. She got my wife's dinner order incorrect. She did not provide knives to my friend or me, and then, when reminded that we needed cutlery, she could not be found. I am pained to say this because our waitress was so incredibly kind, but I was so incredibly disappointed and honestly shocked by how terrible the food is given the price. While the atmosphere is nice, interiors beautiful, I could never come again. The tuna in the tartare was old and not fresh and the guacamole it was placed under tasted and looked like store bought guacamole. The chicken in the chicken sandwich was dry and old, the breading soggy. The tuna tacos felt like something thrown together by an amateur. This place has been on the "must try" list for a bit. Located next to Trader Joes, a block off Broad Street, it's fairly large restaurant. We had attempted to try Addams Tavern twice before on a Saturday night but told we needed a reservation(or wait until 8:30/9 to eat) so with a bit of planning - we booked a reservation a few days before and were seated within seconds of arriving. I love the ambiance - it has high ceilings, murals on the walls, low lighting, two large two bars, two floors with large staircases, and uber comfy seating. The menu is seasonal so it changes fairly frequently as do the cocktail options. We did have to wait a bit to order. We had a waiter and a waiter's assistant which is a bit strange as one took the drink order, another the food, but half way through the waiter seemed to disappear all together and the assistant was the one doing everything. Cocktail menu is fantastic especially as it's one of the only (if not the only) restaurant in Westfield that actually serves cocktails. The cocktails were all fall-themed so I tried some sort of apple cocktail that was refreshing and good albeit strong. They had some unique cocktails based on the season so I'm curious to see what sort of cocktails they invent for Winter. I was torn between ordering a main vs. small/large plates so we opted to split small plates as they had a lot of good ones to try. They have a wood-burning grill in the kitchen which gives the food a bit of that smoky flavor. We split the halibut chowder ($8) which was hearty and full of rich flavors. We next tried the avocado toast ($12.95) which was good but more standard. The steamed bao buns ($12.95) were excellent with deliciously prepared crunchy, crispy chicken. Really, really good! We then split a flatbread ($12.95) with sweet potato puree, bacon, various cheeses. This was my favorite dish of the night as it had a really nice savory sweet combination going on and was inventive and the right combination of flavors. We were too stuffed for dessert but there a ton of options! I'm glad we got to try this place and will certainly be back soon! read more

It was a girls day where we grabbed brunch and went out for a few cocktails after. It was our first time here and of course you need a reservation. If you prefer to sit at the bar rather than wait for a table, if there's availability, then be my guest The decor was cute. Spacious enough. Nice vibe and our waiter was great and pleasant. The menu had great choices, so was the cocktail menu. I'm giving them a 4 because the dish I ordered (fried chicken rice bowl) wasn't great. It almost tasted as if it was a day old dish, just simply heated up. However, my friend decided to let the waiter know and they asked it'd I wanted something else. I had waited long enough for my dish and when it came my friends were almost finished eating. So I told them no to a new dish. My friends dishes were great. The manager did come over offered her sincere apologies and I got it removed from our bill. That was very sweet and kind of them because, I wouldn't have said anything if it wasn't for my friend. I ended up eating the other half of my friend slider burger, which was delicious. Very well cooked and garnished. Definitely would recommend. Let me get all the bad stuff out of the way but also point out that the food was really good. We got there on time for our 8PM reservation and were told that the party at our table was finishing up dessert. We sat at the very beautiful bar until we were told at 8:30 that our table was ready. Incidentally, my club soda was all ice. We were taken to our nice corner table where we could look into the open kitchen which was definitely a positive thing. We even interacted via hand signals with the very friendly grill chef. The problem here was that our server did not appear for about 20 minutes and started off the conversation by saying that we should order quickly as they sometimes run out of things, especially the prime rib special. That part of it was annoying making the rest of his act unfunny to me. Maybe if it had started off better, I might have been more accepting of the rest of his commentary. I ordered the wedge salad and found it to be mediocre. It needed more dressing or a better tasting blue cheese dressing plus the bacon bits were nothing special. Everything got much better after that. My wife liked her Caesar Salad, the wings were amazingly delicious, and the burrata was out of this world. Our mains consisted of a scallop dish, bbq ribs, and two orders of the pork chop. I was told the scallop dish was excellent. the ribs that my wife shared with me were of the falling off the bone quality and tasted perfect. The pork chop was among the best I have had for a long time. 4.5 for food (deduction for the wedge salad) and 2.5 for the overall service experience (long wait to be seated, long wait to meet server). I would definitely go back again but would also definitely hope for and expect a better service experience. read more

My family went there last night to celebrate my granddaughter's 5th birthday and let me tell you, the food was good, the drinks were GREAT, and the service was excellent, fabulous, and phenomenal! I've typically been very fond of the Harvest Restaurants. My girlfriend was meeting my family for the first time so I thought it would be a great idea to go to Addams Tavern. I've been to Addams Tavern several times in the past but this time was such a horrific experience it warranted my first Yelp review ever. The hostess was impolite and our waitress didn't have a clue what she was doing. When we first sat down at the table, she started by pouring out water for the table in our wine glasses and just stopped before pouring out the last glass? For starters we got the Mediterranean plate and the Fried Calamari. The food was nothing like I remembered. It was less than average and the portions were extremely small. It came time to order our entrees and this is where the real nightmare begin. 3/5 of us order center cut filet mignon, one ordered the halibut, and the other salmon. Besides her ignoring my girlfriends gluten free allergy, our meals were just absolutely horrible. I can honestly say this was the worst steak I've ever had. The steaks were over cooked, tasted like very low quality meat (especially for what you're paying for), and came out wrong. One of our guests ordered substitutes for the sides and it came without them- just steak and plain broccoli. We weren't even given steak knives until about 10 minutes in when' we had to ask for them. When we did get them we received weird remarks from our waitress who seemed very flustered. The salmon was, as my sister put it, worst than what she can cook at home. She wasn't wrong, it was bland, dry, and just not what you would expect from a high end restaurant. I will not be going back to Addams tavern again and will be hesitant on going to the other Harvest Restaurant Group locations read more

Came here on a weekday night. The place was full but we were lucky to get a spot at the upstairs bar. Ambiance is trendy, the food a work of art and drinks are made with care. After months (and months) of renovation, Addams Tavern has reopened. I was not able to try it before it closed for renovations so my recent trip was my first opportunity to check it out. When you enter Addams Tavern, the first thing you are greeted by is...a tub full of apples. Wait, what? Yes, you read that right. Apparently this is the Addams Tavern version of a palette cleanser as opposed to a mint. This gives you a hint that this is going to be a slightly different experience than many of the nearby restaurants. When you enter you are greeted by a very tall ceiling. The interior looks almost like an old tavern you would see in some movie set in medieval times - except much larger! To the right is a bar and to the left is a seating area. Another seating area can be found towards the back not too far from the kitchen. The setting is absolutely *beautiful*, down to a functional fireplace in the middle of the restaurant. I was with my girlfriend when I visited so we were able to get a few dishes to try: ROTISSERIE CHICKEN WINGS (Sweet Heat Glaze & Ranch Dressing) I LOVE a good chicken wing and these were fantastic! They were cooked perfectly. Moist and flavorful. The glaze on them was both sweet and savory, making for a delicious combination of flavors. You didn't even need the ranch dressing, it was perfectly good on its own. ADDAMS PULLED ROTISSERIE CHICKEN SALAD (Tuscan Kale, Green Cabbage Parmesan, Roasted Peanut Vinaigrette) Confession: I am not normally a Kale person unless it is cooked. However, I wanted something healthy and the roasted peanut vinaigrette had me intrigued. The result? One of the best salads I've had in quite some time! The kale was perfectly wilted thanks to the dressing, the chicken was moist and the peanut dressing was *delicious*! I would happily get this salad again any time. BUTTERMILK PANCAKE This was the most disappointing part of the meal, which is very sad. If you are going to call yourself a brunch place, awesome pankcakes should be part of the deal. However, these pancakes were thin, not fluffy at all. They kind of reminded me of what you would make at home with a thin batter. The flavor was fine, but I was very surprised at how insubstantial they were (especially for $10.95). The hostess was super nice and the waitstaff is also very attentive. I have no complaints about the service. Sure the pancakes were disappointing, but everything else was excellent! I look forward to my next trip to the tavern. Just went for dinner for 5 people with 6:15PM reservations. They had us put contact info and took temps. They also have hand sanitizer. The service was very nice and made great suggestions. We had wings, calamari, and the biscuits for apps. My new pregnancy craving are about to be those biscuits and that chili butter at 3AM!! Phenomenal from start to finish. We enjoyed an amazing brunch here on the weekend during AddamsFest. My only wish was that they got more in on the action, maybe some fun Halloween themed drinks or food. We started with the calamari which was great and I got the fried chicken sandwich with the Mac and cheese (amazing!). I also got a martini which was strong and delicious. Our service was perfect. Was expecting more. I want to say I did not have a steak, but my friend did--he ordered the filet mignon. He requested medium rare, and it was cooked a little more than that. It was a small medallion for the price, and the side was not very tasty. The shrimp cocktail which he ordered as an appetizer was fresh, the shrimps were large, and it was served over what I believe was dried ice, so I gave a nice smoky affect when it was brought to the table. I had the Wings as an appetizer, and then I had a Vermont cheddar burger medium rare for dinner. The wings were OK--a little too charred on the outside for me but the inside was definitely not over cooked. The burger, however, I was very disappointed with. The burger itself was fine, and it was cooked as I requested, but it definitely did not taste like there was Vermont cheddar on the burger. It was literally regular cheese, and very bland burger flavoring. All in all, I think it was over priced for what it actually turned out to be. I did not realize it was a chain until they brought the bag for the leftover wings, and it said Huntley Taverne. I absolutely love Huntley Taverne, so I don't want to be rough on the chain itself, but this place, food wise, is less than impressive. read more

I love farm to table restaurants and really enjoyed brunch here despite the aloof service and the fact that the food didn't match the description on the menu. Complimentary bread and butter - available upon request- was excellent and a nice preview of the dishes to come. Had the Addams Brunch Pot Pie (soul sausage gravy with a cheddar biscuit top and 2 sunny side eggs). This was excellent and the best dish of the meal. Texture was a little bit runny but had a generous amount of sausage and it was great for soaking up the biscuit. The turkey sandwich on the cranberry-walnut bread was good but, compared to the other dishes, a little bland. I hate to say that because in comparison to most establishments the quality is above average. The grilled wild salmon was prepared well although specifically for this dish I was looking forward to the hard boiled egg which was listed on the menu but missing in the dish. The waitress tried to correct me and insisted no egg accompanies the dish. Even when i tell her it's on the menu, she says menu offerings are subject to change. That is fair but I was looking at the menu of the day, that is the menu that was handed to me when I was seated to order from. Finally she noted she would let the kitchen know and that was basically the end of that topic. Anyway off to dessert. The salted midnight cake was pure decadence and the side of grass-fed made for a nice pairing. The lemon olive oil tart was tart and refreshing especially with fresh cranberries but the rosemary was not needed. Even though the warm coffee cake is listed on the regular menu, it goes well with post-meal coffee. Also had the kale as a side for the meal. Other dishes brought out to other tables looked amazing. Would love to try the bowls next time. Eggs and flatbreads are also available. I commuted from Manhattan and would return as this is a nice and much-appreciated brunch destination. read more

Being that this was our first time dining at Addams Tavern, I was completely taken with the decor and ambiance upon walking through the front door. Cozy, inviting, modern but not pretentious - we were greeted and promptly escorted to a roomy booth by a friendly hostess. Our drink orders were taken by our server (I unfortunately can't remember her name but she was super sweet and welcoming). The drinks came out quickly, and we ordered appetizers. While enjoying our cocktails our appetizers arrived and we dug in. The burrata was our favorite, but the wings, egg rolls, and calamari were delicious as well. My husband and step father had the strip steak and cleaned their plates, my short rib was perfect. The charming cart that the servers bring to your table carrying the dishes is so smart and I think safer than the usual carrying technique commonly used in restaurants. My overall experience was exceptional - I failed to mention that when I accidentally tipped my cocktail over, my server immediately cleaned up the mess and got me a fresh drink at no charge. The service was on point, not annoying but still attentive. The manager, Denise, came by to ensure our meal was to our expectations and thanked us for coming in. I will 100% be returning to Addam's Tavern, a great addition to Westfields restaurant line up. read more
