Don't think I have ever seen a coffee shop in a more sketchy place than this one. There are several tents under the freeway bridges across the fast paced service road. We didn't feel comfortable or safe enough to get out of the car at all. No way. Not willing to risk a visit here for a coffee or raspberry or blueberry cheese danish. read more

Ended up here after finding out Willie Mae's Scotchouse was closed for the day. Ordered two of their breakfast meals, the catfish, the lamb chops and a Miss Tracy's addiction iced coffee. Both breakfast meals came with eggs and grits and the portion was enough to feed 2. The catfish was very good and the grits were delicious!! However, the lamb chops were very salty, but still good and perfectly cooked. The Miss Tracy's Addiction... I was surprised how the mix of coffee, cayenne pepper, honey worked so well. Add all of that together, and you get Addiction Coffee House! This was another stop on the brunch tour my friend and I have been on. The ambiance was cool, the DJ did a nice job establishing the vibe of the atmosphere. Drinks: this place makes the STRONGEST lemon drop I have ever had!! I literally had to slowly sip and pace myself because wow-- the bartenders are certainly heavy handed! Food: if the vibe wasn't enough reason for me to return, the food certainly was an added bonus! I ordered the lamb chop breakfast which was accompanied by grits. eggs, and a little fruit. Delicious! Well seasoned, and aesthetically pleasing. The lamb chops were so tender, it was like cutting butter. I easily cleaned my plate! My friend ordered the chicken and waffles (yes, the waffles are shaped like what you think they're shaped like lol). She raved about her meal also; especially regarding how seasoned the fried chicken was! My only 2 disappointments are that they do not (at least while we were there) have a working air conditioner. There were large fans throughout the building, and it was a summer day in New Orleans which necessitates air conditioning! I really wanted to give this place a higher score because their food wasn't bad. But there was no-one in this place prior to our group arriving and it took over 1 hr and 30 min to get our food. We were greeted by a young lady who clearly seamed loss. Once some back up came we started to get some movement. Water, coffee and lemon aid that was sent back came 45 min after we sat down. The Addiction is a lovely and eclectic coffee shop! Their prices are no more than you might see at a Starbucks chain, but the atmosphere is so much better. They're pretty big inside, but they also have a wonderful space outdoors equipped with heaters, so you can enjoy it in the chillier weather too. Their backyard was just a very fun space with ponds and sitting areas, but also with animals! They have a goat and a rooster roaming around, and pigs in a pen across the pond (no access to the pigs). The rooster wouldn't let me pet him, but the goat was SO friendly! I could pet her all day! Don't worry, it doesn't smell like a farm there at all because it's so clean and well maintained. Their coffee itself was fantastic! I got plain old mocha, which was great, but what really stole the show was my boyfriend's coffee "Miss Tracy's Addiction". It's their specialty item with coconut milk, regular milk, honey, and cayenne pepper. It seemed too adventurous for me, but it was AMAZING when I stole a sip! Rich, some sweetness, and a tiny kick to top it off. Highly recommend this! I wanted to try their food items, but they weren't offering food until 11am. They have a barbecue house next door, and that's where the food is made. If it's anything like their coffee, I bet it'll be delicious! The staff serving us was helpful and friendly. I came here the other day for breakfast because I seen someone post it on IG. I really enjoyed my food and I loveeee the hospitality if the staff. The only reason I am giving this a 4/5 stars is because it was a bit hot in there and they had a box fan on the floor. If you know NOLA in the summer time, it gets HOT so a hot fan without blasting AC is kinda scarce in comfortable. Also I just wish the food Potion was a bit bigger for the price. But all in all... Will I go back... YES! It's black owned, served liquor in a coffeeshop and idk what they put in them damn grits but is was BUSSIN' sheessh. I don't eat cheese grits but I ate them that day. Such a great coffee spot in this spot of town. Don't let the front entry fool you, this shop is quite massive. I love the personal touches of the owner including the suspended door from her childhood home. All of the hardwood is gorgeous and very inviting. I suggest taking a look around and exploring the grounds, including their backyard. They have an outdoor stage, mini lounge pool, outdoor bar, and a few seats to enjoy. During my visit I had a cold brew and it was great. Seems to have gone under recent renovations so I can't wait to go back and see it in full motion. read more

Me and my boyfriend just left from visiting this restaurant.I was very disappointed that they asked me 3 times how did I want the steak cooked, and I told them medium.... It came out very well done almost like jerky. I asked for salt and pepper for my grits and the girl who I assumed was cooking yelled to me "what you need salt and pepper for?" Ridiculous. Then when I told the server about the steak she said she would take care of it and yet the cook comes to the table this time to ask "what's wrong with yo steak?" I told her the exact same problem and she just walked off. No apology. Nothing. The rest of the food was good... even though I was only able to eat the sides. My boyfriend enjoyed his meal as well. It was not a positive experience or environment.. and definitely didn't feel like "good vibes." I would go back if better staff was present. Pretty cool spot. We visited on a Saturday morning around 10 am. The online hours said they opened at 7am but when we arrived the employee told us they had a few maintenance issues and would be opening shortly. We decided to stand outside and wait. It took about 20 minutes for him to open. We were the only people there. The employee was the only one there as well. He told us to sit anywhere and come order at the bar when ready. He ended up being the chef, waiter, and only employee there. The decor and music was nice. We were given complimentary bottle water which was nice. We ordered the iced Ms. Tracey coffee drink and the iced New Orleans coffee with added French vanilla. I didn't care for the Ms. Tracey drink at all. My fault for not paying attention to the ingredients. I prefer sweet and this had more of a spicy taste. The other drink was good. They use paper straws which I don't really care for. For food I wanted Lamb chops but the chef said the ones on the grill were the last ones available. I ended up ordering the shrimp and grits and then we did the steak and waffles. Both were kind of expensive but included eggs with the shrimp and grits and grits and eggs with the steak and waffles. The waffle were shaped cute. We had a marijuana shaped one and a flower shaped one. The waffles were cute but taste more like pancakes. But they were pretty good. My husband T-bone steak was just okay. Nothing he would get again. The presentation of the shrimp and grits was fantastic but the taste just wasn't there. Overall this is a nice spot. The chef was friendly and gave us a history of the business and business owners. He told us about Sunday brunch and other weekday specials. I love supporting black owned businesses so I will probably return and try the lamb chops and a different coffee. I would make sure to visit on a Sunday next time. read more

I made a mental note and misfiled it apparently, because I just now tried this same concoction in the current location off Claiborne! Popped in here because the nearby spots were out of power. Walking in the vibe was already pretty solid. The music banging, interior is wood centered and the furniture is gorgeous. You can tell they are still working on it but it looks like the finished product is going to be dope. The menu is all over the place as far as the layout of info. I suggest getting a thorough look at all the food options before deciding just because the layout is confusing. The coffee was solid but the food prices are whew! This was probably the only negative thing i had to say about the place. I ordered the catfish breakfast with grits and eggs. Truth be told that was the best catfish and grits I've had since i moved here. I don't even like the grits as runny as they came but i ate it all right up. Seriously that made my day. Okay. This place was so cool. We went in at a super quiet time and had the whole spot to ourselves. Our server, Corshaya (I probably spelled that SO wrong and I'm sorry ) was so accommodating. You can tell they all vibe together there. Everybody came over to check on us and make sure we were happy. The fried chicken, and I'm not exaggerating, was the best fried chicken I've ever had in my life. Idk how they mastered the perfectly crispy outside with the juicy, perfectly cooked inside but oh man, they nailed it. We had the signature coffee drink, Miss Tracy's Addiction, and I loved that. The person I was with doesn't like coconut, and they still loved it, in spite of the coconut milk. So creamy and well-balanced. Not too sweet, and you could still taste the coffee perfectly in the flavor mix. Shaya gave us a ton of great recommendations for our trip and filled us in on the different districts. If I could give it more stars I would! Basics: the food was excellent! My girlfriend and I got banana waffles and the fried catfish breakfast, both were amazing! And their coffee was some of the best I've had! I had the cortado and my girlfriend had the cafe au lait. But beyond that, the service was wonderful! We talked to several people all of whom were welcoming, sincere, and thoughtful. After finding out that this place recently reopened, I had to check it out! I saw the overwhelming amount of good reviews, so I was excited to try the coffee. Walking in, the place looked really unique, well lit, and spacious. I saw an open kitchen, but I was not sure if they sold food. There was a small overhead coffee menu, but I found a paper menu with full descriptions of the coffee and food items. I ordered Miss Tracy's Addiction after seeing so many people write about it in their reviews. It was such a unique coffee with espresso, steamed coconut milk, steamed milk, honey, and some cayenne. It was a hot coffee with cayenne giving it an extra kick. One sip and I was like, "Woah." Another sip and my eyes widened. Halfway into my coffee, I thought to myself, "I'm addicted now. I get the shop's name now!" I got up and ordered myself an Iced Mocha because I just had to have more of their creations! I was drinking them simultaneously and I was so in love. I felt like I had ying and yang in my hands with my hot and cold coffees. Since my coffees were so good, I was curious of how the food was. I ordered the Feta Grilled Chicken PC Spinach as my entree and I just had to have the Banana Foster French Toast as a dessert for myself. The owner whipped up the grilled chicken dish and I was so amazed with the presentation. It looked like it was cooked perfectly, seasoned well, and just looked downright delicious! My assumptions were right, that was such a glorious grilled chicken with a nice balance of greens, protein, and seasonings. I could not believe I got this dish from a coffee shop! I would be paying an arm and a leg at one of the finer places in New Orleans for a similar dish. Now it was time for the Banana Foster French Toast. She did not think I was going to be still hungry after the chicken dish, but I wanted to try more and more things! The french toast had a great presentation as well. It was a nice portion and she used french bread, which I thought was perfect for the dish. It was topped with plenty of bananas and a generous amount of syrup. Everything was simply excellent! Overall, a great coffee shop to grab delicious coffee and lunch! I cannot believe it took me this long to finally try this place out. I have to bring my friends and family here so they can experience the wonderful time I had here. I came here for the coffee, but left happily full with a great lunch!
