Slim goodies was recommended to us, and it did not disappoint! The brunch was delicious. We had a variety of different goodies that we tried. The eggs, the waffles, the pancakes, the hashbrowns... Everything was so delicious. Fam favorite was the chocolate chip waffle. Not something we would normally have ordered, but it was so good. The frozen screwdriver was also delicious. This was my surprise of the weekend. We were in NOLA for jazz fest and friends took us to Slim Goodies. What a cute neighborhood place to eat some of the best breakfast food ever!! I had a side of swine bacon, a sausage patty, and the best French toast ever!! My party had different items off the menu and everyone raved about the food. We walked in on a Saturday morning about 10:45 and were seated promptly. The diner feel was close but not too cramped. The drink menu looked great but we didn't try anything. I had the Cheezer, a double cheese omelette with ham for a small upcharge, and it was filling. Our waiter was equally friendly and came to our table quickly. Coffee, with half 'n half (important to me), was promptly provided. I inquired about the Crawfish Étouffée with regard to spicy heat. I ordered the Sinkhole Omelette which basically has everything in it! My husband ordered the Cat 5 Burrito. Both were good. We ate everything. I've been going here for as many years as they've been open. Today it took forever to order, and when i did order I almost paid for my coffee and left. I watched the cook pour fake butte on the griddle, and pour the pancake batter on. When she flipped the pancakes over, she drowned them in the same fake butter. When I got my plate, the pancakes had fallen apart, and tasted horrible. I ate the two eggs that were also cooked in the fake butter liquid and the bacon, but left the pancakes that were inedible. Lucky to be able to score an outside patio table in the garden for a Sunday brunch with family and friends. Vegan? Vegetarian? Omnivore? Great place with so many options. Our group got the Guatemalan, the Tex Mex Slammer with biscuits and tortillas, the Creole Slammer and a Philly cheesesteak. The slammers are so delicious. Served on a base of hash browns, each slammer is topped with a variety of breakfast favorites. The Creole slammer has a couple of any way you like them cooked eggs smothered on crawfish étouffée served with a couple of biscuits to soak up the juices. The Tex Mex has a layer of vegetarian black beans and cheese topped with a couple of sunny side up eggs, avocados, plantains, salsa and sour cream with a couple of tortillas. I substituted biscuits instead. Add a chai tea latte or an iced coffee for a perfect Sunday brunch on the patio under an orange umbrella. Another one of my goto spots when in NOLA. SLIM Goodies is like your old school diner spot. They have good pancakes, french toast, biscuits and my 2 favorites, the slammers and chicken and waffles. My family is not traditional, and they will go from the eggs and bacon or omelets. Like a diner, they do not have fancy coffee concoctions, just plain old coffee. The atmosphere is mainly locals and those that have heard of the spot. Sitting inside is not plentiful, so if you go on a busy day, the wait might be a while. Went for a work meeting so it was cool to take some time to observe all the photos on the wall of various first timers or folks who had their photo taken. Just gives you a sense of verification you're in for a damn good meal. I ordered a mimosa in a hurricane glass with the perfect amount of orange juice (very little) and it was a great partner to the bloody mary my accompaniment had. The craving for gravy and biscuits was at an all time high so I modified my country fried steak dish to include a side of biscuits. The hash brown scramble was hella crispy (soggy hash browns are just not fun), the bacon had the right crunch, and the cajun gravy was divine. I seriously slopped up that gravy with the country fried steak and biscuits. It was so good. This is a great, casual dining spot that will for sure not have you leaving disappointed. read more

Had some time after getting a tattoo nearby to enjoy a meal and decided to give Slim Goodies a try. It's easily located among a slew of other restaurants and shops on Magazine Street, and easily overlooked for how tiny it looks from the outside. The inside is indeed small, but the service is solid. I was torn between the burger and the BLAT, but went with the BLAT as I've been craving avocado lately. The food came out quickly and was pretty good. Nothing fancy, but I can't say that I expected more than just my sandwich and fries, so there's nothing to complain about. The fries were quite tasty, and the breakfast menu looked pretty good, too, so I might have to come back one day to see how their breakfast meals stand up. They also have a limited alcohol menu, so if you're visiting from NOLA and need to keep that buzz going, it's definitely for you. Slim Goodies has been a consistent spot for breakfast, brunch and lunch since they opened back in 2003. For a long while this joint was cash only but they now have started accepting credit cards. The current menu at Slim Goodies reveals their crawfish are sourced from foreign lands even though for years they were literally across from the amazing seafood distributor of Big Fisherman which recently went out of business. I have enjoyed the food at Slim Goodies for a long while so I do feel utterly betrayed over my patronage of this business over the years as they have proven to favor Chinese seafood over local Louisiana seafood... so so heartbreaking.... I do understand the need for a business to control their prices but it would be nice to have the option to at least order local Louisiana crawfish instead of the imported variety. Personally I avoid the foreign crawfish and I'm sad I'm not going to be able to enjoy some of the great crawfish options Slim Goodies offers if they are only going to only offer imported crawfish. They still have other options like a decent burger and I find that their biscuits are actually better than those at Surrey's although to me the omelets here are not as good as Surrey's.
